Aim: To reflect on the inclusion of an advanced practice nurse (APN) on a clinical leadership team in rural Vermont during the COVID‐19 pandemic. Background: During the COVID‐19 pandemic, APNs contributed to the reimagining of healthcare delivery. In response to pandemic‐related organizational needs, one rural health center in Vermont promoted an APN to a leadership position. Sources of evidence: This critical reflection describes the experience of one APN promoted to a clinical leadership role during the COVID‐19 pandemic in rural Vermont in the United States. We use the four stages of crisis (escalation, emergency, recovery, and resolution) and the healthcare leadership framework proposed by Geerts et al. (2021) to consider how APN leaders can contribute in the "recovery stage" of the pandemic. Discussion: APNs who took on leadership roles during the pandemic may have had fewer opportunities to participate in formal leadership development. However, in the case of our rural health center, an APN was able to seek out mentorship, address operational challenges, and provide representation for advanced practice providers. Conclusion: This article contributes to the literature on APN leadership during the COVID‐19 pandemic, by describing a leadership opportunity that helped build APN leadership capability and capacity in our organization. Implications for nursing practice: APNs offer a valuable perspective on health leadership teams. As organizations move toward the recovery stage of the pandemic, different leadership styles and skills may be required. Implications for health policy: The COVID‐19 pandemic provided unexpected leadership opportunities for APNs. This study investigated cognitive patterns of strengths and weaknesses (PSW) and their relationship to patterns of math errors on the Kaufman Test of Educational Achievement (KTEA-3). Participants, ages 5 to 18, were selected from the KTEA-3 standardization sample if they met one of two PSW profiles: high crystallized ability (Gc) paired with low processing speed/long-term retrieval (Gs/Glr; n = 375) or high Gs/Glr paired with low Gc (n = 309). Estimates of Gc and Gs/Glr were based on five KTEA-3 subtests that measure either Gc (e.g., Listening Comprehension) or Gs/Glr (e.g., Object Naming Facility). The two groups were then compared on math error factors. Significant differences favored the High-Gc group for factors that measure math calculation, basic math concepts, and complex computation. However, the two groups did not differ in their errors on factors that measure geometry/measurement or simple addition. Results indicated that students with different PSW profiles also differed in the kinds of errors they made on math tests.

A large body of research has documented the relationship between attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and reading difficulties in children; however, there have been no studies to date that have examined errors made by students with ADHD and reading difficulties. The present study sought to determine whether the kinds of achievement errors made by students diagnosed with ADHD vary as a function of their reading ability. The participants in this study were 91 students in the ADHD clinical validity standardization sample of the Kaufman Test of Educational Achievement-Third Edition (KTEA-3), as well as a control group of 63 students selected from the larger standardization sample. Students with ADHD and reading difficulties demonstrated a statistically significant greater amount of errors across tests of academic achievement. Findings from the study are discussed within the context of past research, as well as implications for the field of school psychology and practitioners.

We study five years of data on patents listed and sold in the quasi-public 'brokered' market Our data covers almost 39,000 assets, an estimated eighty percent of all patents and applications offered for sale by patent brokers between 2012 and 2016. We provide statistics on the size and composition of the brokered market, including the types of buyers and sellers who participate in the market, the types of patents listed and sold on the market, and how market conditions have changed over time. We conclude with an analysis of what our data can tell us about how to accurately value technology, the costs and benefits of patent monetization, and the brokered market's ability to measure the impact of changes to patent law., I.
