Parasomnias are a group of sleep disorders characterized by abnormal and unpleasant motor, verbal, or behavioral events that occur during sleep or during transitions between wake and sleep states. They disrupt sleep and can have a detrimental impact on the individual experiencing them. Our goal was to identify types of parasomnias and their prevalence in the current and recent post-secondary student population and to explore their coping strategies for parasomnias they found distressing. Seventy-seven post-secondary students completed the 21-item Munich Parasomnia Screening (MUPS) frequency scale. They also rated, on a 10-point scale, how disturbing each parasomnia experienced was. Not only did 92% percent of students report at least one parasomnia, but our results also indicate that the vast majority of students experienced several parasomnias. This led us to investigate the likelihood of the co-occurrence of different parasomnias. With respect to the level of subjectively experienced distress, the most prevalent parasomnias were not always the more disturbing. Coded open-ended responses about what students do about the disturbing parasomnias indicate that grounding strategies (i.e., coping strategies that help manage distressing feelings) and physical manipulation of one's body were the most common, although most participants indicated that in spite of distress, they do nothing to cope. In conclusion, our study found a strikingly high prevalence of parasomnias in this sample of young adults and a lack of knowledge about effective means of dealing with these. The “virtual pole” method allows profiling of the cutting tools that generate by rolling. This mode of generation is advantageous in terms of the accuracy of the geometric shape obtained. The mentioned method combines the analytical accuracy of profiling with a simplified calculation mode, compared to the established algorithms. The paper presents an application made on the basis of the “virtual pole” method, for the profiling of the gear shaped tool, designed to generate the bore of a bush with a K-profile. Based on this methodology, in house software was developed for the type of profile mentioned above. The program allows the numerical and graphical representation of the profile to be generated, the contact curve and the profile of the generating tool.

The paper presents a fixturing device used for machining by drilling a straight shaft. The shaft was manufactured on EMCO CONCEPT TURN 55 CNC. The blank used was a bar with circular cross-section. The orientation and fixing scheme of the part and the orientation elements for fixturing device are presented as they were drawn in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD software.

The paper presents a drilling fixture that fits on the EMCO MILL 55 CNC working table for machining the holes of some blanks made of materials having low and average hardness. The modeling was carried out with Autodesk Inventor software package, highlighting the essential controls, from basic sketches to the completion of the component parts, respectively the final assembly. At the same time, the paper presents a brief theoretical calculation of the necessary force for fixing the blank into the fixture. Based on the fixture elements, the physical model of the drilling device was drawn. Moreover, a double- straight edged helical drill used for the drilling process was modeled in CATIA environment.

This paper shows how engineering and art are combined in making metal sculptures, referring to artistic creations exhibited in the “Dunărea de Jos” University campus in Galați, in the tradition existing between the Faculty of Engineering and the Visual Art Museum of Galați, with a significant contribution of prestigious artists of Galaţi and beyond. In this context, in order to develop the conception and design of some artistic products, many 2D and 3D graphical representation systems of information have appeared in a virtual environment, in which shaping using dedicated software applications, required that these artworks can be described by a series of shaping operation sequences, package design tools Autodesk Inventor CAD being such a solution.

Hydroforming processes have become increasingly popular in recent years, due to the increasing demand for light parts in various fields, such as the automotive, aircraft and aerospace industries. This technology is relatively new compared to other processing procedures, such as lamination, forging or stamping. This paper presents some basic concepts about hydroforming procedures, as well as 3D graphical modeling of a hydro-mechanical drawing die made in the Autodesk Inventor software program. Welding is the process of merging two or more elements from metallic or thermoplastic materials, throught a heat or pressure source. The joining of the elements is ensured by the welded bead, which is a solidified quantity of material which allows the continuity of the crystalline structure of the material. In this paper, some basics about the welding of plastic materials are presented, as well as a 3D graphics modeling of a butt-welding machine achieved using Autodesk Inventor design environment. At the same time, in the software programme, the heating element modelling is carried out, namely, the electric hob with thermoregulator. This type of welding machine is used in a large number of applications and requires a proper design and dimensioning of the elements for ensuring reliability, strength, design flexibility, and low processing costs. The valves are elements which provide the opening of a hydraulic circuit when the flow in one direction exceeds a certain value. This paper presents the basic concepts about valves, in general, and also the 3D graphic model of a normally open direct-acting valve in the Autodesk Inventor design environment, respectively, an analysis of such a valve, both functionally and constructively, as well as from the point of view of a calculation of forces acting on some elements of the valve. Hydraulic cylinders are subassemblies of hydrostatic equipment which convert the hydrostatic energy to mechanical energy. This is possible by transforming the hydraulic parameters such as pressure and flow of the incoming fluid to parameters associated with translation, force and speed. The hydraulic cylinders usually have, as active element, a subassembly composed from a rod and one or more pistons which translates inside a working cylinder. This paper presents the functioning analysis at parallel hydraulic coupling of 3 single-rod double-acting hydraulic cylinders with different diameters and strokes. The main objectives of this paper are: to highlight the important role of the entrepreneurship and of the entrepreneurs and also to identify the main characteristics of this field of study. The base of this research was the management literature that presents a variety of definitions, characteristics, risks, challenges and benefits of the entrepreneurship. The entrepreneurship is a science and an activity whose main character is the entrepreneur- a person often associated with the success, the professional fullfillment and also with the fortune. Considerating the result of this research, there was concluded that although this field presents some disadvantages and risks for the main actors involved, its benefits are not insignificant and it has an important contribution to progress, and also were identified the main aspects regarding the entrepreneurship and the entrepreneurs.
