Background: Surgical ciliated cysts occur mainly in the maxillae after radical maxillary sinus surgery; they rarely develop in the mandible. This study aims to gather information on all the characteristics of patients suffering from mandibular surgical ciliated cysts. This article also reports two new cases. Methods: PubMed, Google Scholar and the International Clinical Trials Registry Platform were explored until 13 December 2022 for articles regarding mandibular surgical ciliated cysts. Maxillary ciliated cysts were excluded. Results: Fourteen original articles were included in a total of 16 cases. Maxillofacial surgeries are the first aetiology (94.4%). Surgical ciliated cysts of the mandibular region show a 1.25:1 male‐to‐female ratio with a protracted time to diagnosis (range: 2–56 years). Most patients are symptomatic (77.8%). Typically, radiology shows a radiolucency lesion (88.9%) and histology describes pseudostratified ciliated columnar epithelium. Enucleation has always been described as the treatment. Discussion: All results were case reports, thus a low level of evidence studies. Mandibular surgical ciliated cysts should be considered in patients presenting a mandibular swelling or radiolucency lesion with a maxillofacial surgery history. Introduction: Adenosquamous carcinoma (ASC) of the head and neck is a rare malignant tumor, with one hundred cases diagnosed so far in the literature. Observation: A 66 years old female patient had a ASC of the right posterior floor of the mouth with a classification T1N0M0. Treatment consisted of surgical management and active surveillance. Discussion: Through this case report, we present this type of tumor and we discuss the main differential diagnosis from a clinical and histological point of view. Conclusion: This entity was described for the first time in 1968 by Gerughty. The CAS is defined by the World Health Organization as “a tumor of the upper respiratory tract, with two distinct squamous and glandular components.” The CAS is considered as an aggressive tumor with a redoubtable prognosis should not be ignored.

Introduction: Orofacial granulomatosis is characterized by recurrent swelling affecting the lips, cheeks, and tongue. The rarity of this pathology and the lack of consensus in therapeutic management make the reporting of this clinical case relevant. Observation: A 48-year-old man consulted for labial and gingival orofacial granulomatosis. The treatment consisted of 40 mg/L injections of triamcinolone acetonide once weekly for 3 weeks. The symptoms improved after 1 week of treatment. Comments: The usual treatment for this condition targets the inflammation caused by the lesion. Corticosteroids (clobetasol, triamcinolone acetonide, prednisolone), monoclonal antibodies (infliximab, adalimumab), or TNF-α inhibitors are commonly used. Symptom recurrenceis frequently observed after treatment with corticosteroids. Biotherapies are often used as a second-line treatment. Conclusion: Orofacial granulomatosis symptoms are rare and difficult to diagnose due to its varying manifestations. Common treatments target one of the steps of the inflammatory response. The detection of specific cellular markers is a way to enable a more precise etiological diagnosis and allows for a more targeted therapy.

Subcutaneous emphysema is a rare feature caused by traumatism (weapons, accidents: crashes, barotrauma, …), dental care and infections. A 48-year-old woman consults for a right oral mucosa lesion and benefits from a biopsy for anatomopathological diagnosis. Within hours of the biopsy, bilateral jugal then cervical swelling has occured without signs of severity. The examination at 48 hours and the CT scan showed a bilateral cervicofacial emphysema with a spontaneous favorable resolution in a few days making the diagnosis of benign subcutaneous emphysema (BSCE). BSE can occurs after an endobuccal biopsy, a close follow up is necessary to rule out gas gangrene.The resolution is spontaneous with the necessity to reassure the patient.
