Molar Incisor Hypomineralisation (MIH) is defined as a qualitative demarcated enamel hypomineralisation defect of tooth enamel affecting at least one first permanent molar (FPM), often affecting permanent incisors. More recently, the term Hypomineralised Second Primary Molar (HSPM) was used to describe similar defects affecting second primary molars. Our observational study aimed at determining HSPM and MIH frequencies in a medieval and early-modern-age population population (Sains-en-Gohelle, France, 7th − 17th centuries) and compare it to the current worldwide and French prevalence values. To date, there are no other studies on this subject in France. European studies have been published, but the diagnosis of these pathologies is based solely on a visual examination. Our study differs from others by using objective diagnostic. microtomography and X-ray fluorescence. The use of these diagnostic methods allows differentiation between hypomineralised and taphonomic lesions. The frequencies of MIH and HSPM were, respectively, 12.3% and 13.3%. In fact, there were 10 individuals with at least one first permanent molar affected by MIH amongst the 81 individuals with at least one first permanent molar present, and 15 individuals with at least one second primary molar affected by HSPM among the 113 individuals with at least one second primary molar present.The presence of MIH and HSPM in ancient populations with frequencies respectively equivalent and higher than current worldwide averages renews the debate and questioning about the aetiological factors of these pathologies. The objective of this study was to analyse an individual whose remains are characterised by early deciduous tooth loss and multi-focal lesions on the post-cranial skeleton. Skeletal remains of an immature individual buried between 1770 and 1849 in London. The remains were examined by visual macroscopic inspection, supplemented by radiographic examination of the mandible and maxillae. A differential diagnosis with possible conditions, frequent in this archaeological context, was conducted. A comprehensive examination of dental lesions was performed to investigate the aetiologies of deciduous tooth loss. The individual exhibited a mosaic of skeletal and dental pathological changes, including premature loss of deciduous dentition, premature eruption of permanent teeth generalised bone loss in both the mandible and maxilla; osteomyelitis of the left radius; osteolytic lesion on the body of the second lumbar vertebra, and marked expansions of the rib shafts due to sub-periosteal new bone formation. A differential diagnosis considered indicates that the pathological changes of the individual were most likely associated with a comorbidity involving hypophosphatasia and tuberculosis. We present in this study several oral signs that could alert paleopathologists and bioarcheologists to systematically consider the potential of a condition that is rarely encountered in archaeological contexts. Due to poor preservation, this study was confined to the analysis of a partial maxilla and mandible, a left radius shaft and the axial skeleton (rib heads and vertebrae) of the individual. Hyperostosis frontalis interna (HFI) is a benign bone lesion, which is asymptomatic for the most part and is manifested by the accretion of bone on the endocranial surface of the frontal bone. This type of lesion has been discussed in a multitude of publications since the 19th century. Although a consensus has yet to be reached as to its etiology, it would seem generally accepted that hormones play a role, which would explain the high frequency of this disorder among older and postmenopausal women. The objective of this study is to demonstrate the benefit of HFI diagnosis for identifying individuals (estimating their age and determining their sex) in the archeo‐anthropological analysis of ancient cremation burial sites and in medicolegal investigations on burned human remains. Our sample consisted of 82 cremated individuals from the Roman Porta Nocera necropolis in Pompeii (1st century BC–1st century AD). After excluding juveniles under 15 years of age, as HFI primarily affects adult individuals, our sample was reduced to 71 individuals, and the prevalence of HFI was 15.5% (n = 11). A statistically significant difference is observed between women and men, and no individuals previously identified as male displayed HFI. Furthermore, 90.9% of the individuals displayed degenerative conditions in conjunction with HFI, showing a highly significant correlation of this lesion with signs of aging (chi‐square 9.365; p = 0.01). Finally, this disorder boosted diagnostic performance in respect of determining sex, increasing the number of biologically sexed individuals from 46.5% to 53.5%. Ce texte présente les résultats partiels d'une étude menée auprès d'enseignants en classes multiâges. En réponse au besoin exprimé de développement professionnel d'enseignants oeuvrant dans ce type de classes, un questionnaire a permis de préciser leurs besoins spécifiques pour ensuite élaborer et mettre à l'essai des stratégies d'accompagnement adaptées à leur contexte. Ces stratégies s'inscrivent dans une perspective de développement professionnel qui mise sur le partage d'expertise et l'engagement des acteurs. Les résultats apportent des précisions sur les caractéristiques de l'enseignement en classe multiâge, les besoins spécifiques et les inquiétudes des enseignants, ainsi que sur le type d'accompagnement souhaité. To address the need for professional development of teachers working in multi-age classrooms, we used a questionnaire to identify specific needs, and then develop and implement strategies tailored to their context. These strategies are in accordance with a perspective that focused on the sharing of expertise and commitment of the actors. Within this framework the results of our research provide insight into the characteristics of multi-age classroom teaching, special needs and concerns of teachers and about the support required. This work aimed to study sexual dimorphism in the first rib of modern humans, with a special focus on whether differences in shape are due to divergent allometric growth in males and females. Also, we compare the accuracy of sex classification using different approaches based on two methodologies, traditional morphometry based on linear measurements and geometric morphometric analysis based on 2D landmark coordinates. The sample studied here comprised 121 right and left first ribs from 65 female and male adult recent Euro‐American Homo sapiens individuals. For traditional morphometrics, 12 metric variables were collected from each rib using a digital caliper, and for geometric morphometrics, six landmarks and 31 semilandmarks were captured from photographs using digital software. Both geometric morphometric and metric data were analyzed to calculate the index of sexual dimorphism, variation related to lateral asymmetry, variation in size and shape, and allometric trends between males and females. Finally, a linear discriminant analysis (LDA) was performed comparing both methodologies to test the best approach for sex classification. Results indicated that there are significant sex differences in the size and shape of the first ribs of recent Euro‐American Homo sapiens. Regression analysis revealed different allometric patterns for males and females, and this could partially explain shape differences between sexes. Additionally, traditional morphometrics showed that all characteristics analyzed are significantly dimorphic, with the midshaft minimum craniocaudal diameter, the sternal end minimum diameter, and the neck minimum craniocaudal diameter displaying the most dimorphic scores. Similarly, geometric morphometrics results indicated that males have more curved and interno‐exteriorly wider first ribs. Finally, analysis of sex classification using LDA yielded slightly better accuracy for traditional morphometry (83.8%) than the geometric morphometrics approach (81.3%) based on form Procrustes coordinates.
