OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of total glucosides of paeony (TGP) in patients with primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS). PATIENTS AND METHODS: This study included 236 patients with pSS, including 118 TGP users and 118 non-users. Propensity score matching and Binary logistic regression analyses were used to minimize confounding factors and determine the association between TGP treatment and clinical variables. RESULTS: The baseline indexes of TGP users and non-users were basically the same. The median time of follow-up in the two groups was also similar (p < 0.05). Compared with non-users, TGP users showed higher rates of improvement in dry mouth and eyes and musculoskeletal involvement, as well as more significant reductions in serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and direct bilirubin (DBIL) levels after treatment. Logistic regression confirmed that the use of TGP was negatively correlated with the increase of ALT and DBIL in pSS patients, and the reduction in these variables was more pronounced after 2 years of treatment. The incidence of adverse reactions in the TGP users was 11.9%, which was compatible with those in non-users. CONCLUSIONS: TGP is often a safe option for treating pSS patients with musculoskeletal features and abnormal ALT levels. Besides, it can help improve dry mouth and dry eyes and decrease DBIL levels. Regular public transportation is an important way for the elderly in China, and the bus station is an important partof the bus system. Right now, few papers analyzed bus stations' impact on the bus choice behavior of the elderly. Based on the data from the stated preference method, the potential Logit model was used to study the influence of the existence of the real-time information and the stool at the bus station on the elderly's bus choice behavior. Through analysis, it was found that the latent-class conditional Logit model has higher fitness than the traditional conditional Logit model. The elderly should be divided into two subgroups (classl, class2). The elderly in classl didn't take into account the existence of real-time information and the stool at the bus station. The relative value of the existence of the real-time information and the stool at the bus station for the elderly in class2, is equivalent to reducing the departure interval by 10.84 minutes and 28.08 minutes, respectively. Whether the elderly has to take care of a grandchild, and the subjective evaluation of the physical conditions, have a significant impact on the elderly's latent class. While age, gender, income, living with child or not, bus use frequency, participating in senior activities or not, the number of chronic diseases and satisfaction don't have significant impact on the elderly's latent class. As an ectomycorrhizal fungal genus that contains matsutake and other edible mushrooms, Tricholoma has great economic and ecological significance. However, the phylogenetic relationships within the genus remain unsettled. To clarify the infrageneric relationships of Tricholoma, including the identification of monophyletic subgenera and sections, three phylogenetic analyses were conducted employing single-locus (ITS), five-locus (ITS/RPB2/EF-1a/MCM7/mtSSU) and 50-locus (45 single-copy orthologous genes plus the aforementioned ones) DNA nucleotide sequences. Our data indicated that ITS sequences could serve the species delimitation of Tricholoma in most cases and monophyletic groups recognition in some cases, and the five-locus dataset could resolve a section-level phylogeny of this genus, while the 50-locus dataset could clarify the delimitation of subgenera and settle the relationships among sections within this genus. A fifty-locus dataset was firstly employed to construct a robust phylogeny of Tricholoma. Based on this, a new infrageneric arrangement for the genus Tricholoma, with four subgenera, of which two are in accordance with the previous subgenera Pardinicutis and Sericeicutis, and eleven sections, is suggested. Subgenus Pardinicutis, occupying the basal position, only harbors sect. Pardinicutis, while the subg. Sericeicutis comprises sects. Lasciva and Sericella located at the sub-basal position with good support. Subgenus Terrea is newly erected here and consists of sect. Terrea, sect. Atrosquamosa and two as yet unnamed phylogenetic lineages. Besides an unnamed section-level lineage, subg. Tricholoma consists of sects. Genuina, Muscaria, Rigida, Tricholoma, Fucata and Matsutake, of which the two latter are newly proposed. The previously defined subg. Contextocutis is clustered within subg. Tricholoma and is a synonym of the latter. Tricholoma colossus, T. acerbum and their allies, which used to be allocated in sect. Megatricholoma (or genus Megatricholoma), are relocated to sect. Genuina since they form a strongly supported monophyletic group and share rusty or black spots on lamellae with other species in this section. Seven sets of Cu-Nb-Hf multilayered films were designed and prepared with the overall compositions of Cu21Nb65Hf14, Cu33Nb49Hf18, Cu34Nb34Hf32, Cu34Nb10Hf56, Cu50Nb23Hf27, Cu58Nb10Hf32, and Cu70Nb8Hf22, and an ion beam mixing experiment was then conducted using 200 keV xenon ions. It is found that the Cu-Nb-Hf system is a metallic glass forming one, and the single amorphous alloys could be synthesized in the Cu-Nb-based alloys with less than 18 at.% of Hf as a third addition. Also, when the Hf concentration is greater than 18 at.%, i.e., at the compositions of Cu34Nb34Hf32, Cu34Nb10Hf56, Cu50Nb23Hf27, Cu58Nb10Hf32, and Cu70Nb8Hf22, ion beam mixing resulted in the formation of amorphous-crystalline composites, which might have better mechanical properties than single-phase glassy alloys. Based on the recently constructed n-body potential, both molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo simulations revealed that the Al-Zr amorphous alloy or metallic glass can be obtained within the composition range of 24-66 at. % Zr. The revealed composition range could be considered the intrinsic glass-forming range and it quantitatively indicates the glass-forming ability of the Al-Zr system. The underlying physics of the finding is that, within the composition range, the amorphous alloys are energetically favored to form. In addition, it is proposed that the energy difference between a solid solution and the amorphous phase could serve as the driving force of the crystalline to amorphous transition and the driving force should be sufficiently large for amorphization to take place. The minimum driving forces for fcc Al-based and hcp Zr-based Al-Zr solid solutions to amorphize are calculated to be about -0.05 and -0.03 eV/atom, respectively, whereas the maximum driving force is found to be -0.23 eV/atom at the alloy stoichiometry of Al60Zr40. A thermodynamics parameter [formula], defined as the ratio of the driving force to the formation energy of the solid solution, is further proposed to indicate the glass-forming ability of an Al-Zr alloy. Thermodynamics calculations show that the glass-forming ability of the Al56Zr44 alloy is the largest, implying that the Al56Zr44 amorphous alloy is more ready to form than other alloys in the Al-Zr system. Besides, Voronoi analysis found that there exists a strong correlation between the coordinate number and structure. Amorphization could result in increase of coordinate numbers and about 1.5% volume-expansion. The volume-expansion induced by amorphization can be attributed to two factors, i.e., the total bond number of the Al-Zr amorphous phase is greater than that of the corresponding solid solution, and the averaged bond length of the Al-Zr amorphous phase is longer than that of the corresponding solid solution. For the Al-Zr alloys, especially for the Al-Zr amorphous phase, there exists a negative chemical micro-inhomogeneity in the alloys, suggesting that metallic bonds prefer to be formed between the atoms of dissimilar species. Finally, it is found that there is a weak correspondence between the bond-angle distributions of Al-Zr amorphous alloys and the solid solutions. It is further suggested that the configuration of Al-Zr amorphous alloys embodies some hybrid imprint of bcc, fcc, and hcp structures. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to explore whether the mechanism of Irbesartan (IRB) in the treatment of rats with myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (MIRI) was related to the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK)-extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) signaling pathway. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The rat model of MIRI was first successfully established. All rats were randomly divided into 5 groups, including the Sham group (sham operation control group, ligation only), Model group (MIRI rat model group), IRB12.5 group [low-dose IRB (12.5 mg/kg/d) group], IRB50.0 group [medium-dose IRB (50.0 mg/kg/d) group] and IRB200.0 group [high-dose IRB (200.0 mg/kg/d) group]. After treatment of IRB in MIRI rats, the activities of four myocardial enzyme indexes, including creatine kinase-MB (CK-MB), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and cardiac troponin T (cTnT), were detected via enzyme- linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The effect of IRB on myocardial apoptosis in MIRI rats was detected via Annexin V-fluorescein isothiocyanate/ Propidium Iodide (FITC/PI) double staining. Meanwhile, the messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) levels of ERK, B-cell lymphoma-2 (Bcl-2) and Bcl-2 associated X protein (Bax) in myocardial cells after treatment of IRB were detected via Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR). Furthermore, the protein levels of ERK and p-ERK were detected via Western blotting. RESULTS: Different concentrations of IRB could protect myocardium from MIRI. IRB at doses of 50.0 mg/kg/d and 200.0 mg/kg/d could significantly downregulate myocardial enzyme indexes in MIRI (p<0.01). Meanwhile, both the doses could markedly inhibit myocardial apoptosis in MIRI rat model by regulating the expressions of apoptosis-related genes (Bcl-2 and Bax) (p<0.01), eventually improving myocardial pathological damage. At the same time, it could also significantly decrease the mRNA and protein levels of ERK in the MAPK-ERK signaling pathway (p<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The cardioprotective mechanism of IRB in MIRI rats may be related to the inhibition of the activation of the MAPK-ERK signaling pathway. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
