3. The high-lying $^6$Li levels at excitation energy around 21 MeV

Abstract

The $^3$H+$^3$He cluster structure in $^6$Li was investigated by the $^3$H($\alpha$,$^3$H $^3$He)n kinematically complete experiment at the incident energy $E_\alpha$ = 67.2 MeV. We have observed two resonances at $E_x^*$ = 21.30 and 21.90 MeV which are consistent with the $^3$He($^3$H, $\gamma$)$^6$Li analysis in the Ajzenberg-Selove compilation. Our data are compared with the previous experimental data and the RGM and CSRGM calculations., Comment: 12 pages, 6 figures. Accepted for publication in J. Phys. Soc. Jpn

4. Recent results on hadron physics at KLOE-2

Abstract

The KLOE-2 experiment at the Frascati φ−factory ended its data-taking in March 2018 collecting more than 5 fb−1 at the φ peak. The new data sample, together with the KLOE one, corresponds to 2.4 ×1010 φ and 3.1×108 η meson events. It represents the largest sample ever collected at the φ peak in e+e− colliders, allowing to study light mesons with unprecedented statistics. Recent results obtained with KLOE data on hadron physics e.g. – measurement of the running of the fine structure constant below 1 GeV, the combination of hadron cross section measurements with determination of aμππ$ a_\mu ^{\pi \pi } $, the new preliminary η → π+π− limit, and progress in γγ studies – will be presented.

5. Dark Searches and γγ Physics at KLOE

Abstract

The search for a dark sector mediated by a new gauge boson, the dark photon, is motivated by many astrophysical anomalies and by the g − 2 discrepancy. The KLOE experiment, operating at the e+e− DAΦNE collider in Frascati, searched for a visibly-decaying dark photon by investigating the ϕ-Dalitz decay into the η meson, the dark photon production from continuum, and the Higgsstrahlung process. The KLOE-2 run started in November 2014, after the upgrade of both, DAΦNE and the KLOE apparatus. In particular, two high electron and positron tagger stations were installed in the DAΦNE layout to study γγ interactions at 1 GeV. Progress status of the project is given.

Abstract

e+e− collider experiments at the intensity frontier are naturally suited to probe the existence of a force beyond the Standard Model between WIMPs, the most viable dark matter candidates. The mediator of this new force, known as dark photon, should be a new vector gauge boson very weakly coupled to the Standard Model photon. No significant signal has been observed so far. I will report on current limits set on the coupling factor ε2 between the photon and the dark photon by e+e− collider experiments.

7. Dark Forces at KLOE/KLOE-2

Abstract

Searches for dark matter particles in the GeV mass range and for dark forces are strongly motivated by the numerous striking astrophysical observations recently reported by many experiments. Flavor factories, like the Frascati Φ-factory DAΦNE, are particularly suited to search for the light gauge vector boson, called U boson, which is thought to mediate an unknown interaction between hypothetical dark matter particles. By using the KLOE detector, limits on U boson coupling factor ε2 of the order of 10−5 ÷ 10−7 have been set through the study of the ϕ Dalitz decay, the Higgsstrahlung process and Uγ events. New experiments with the upgraded KLOE detector and the increased luminosity of DAΦNE are expected to improve the already set upper limits by a factor of two or better.

Abstract

The existence of a new force beyond the Standard Model is compelling because it could explain several striking astrophysical observations which fail standard interpretations. We searched for the light vector mediator of this dark force, the U boson, with the KLOE detector at the DAΦNE e+ e− collider. Using an integrated luminosity of 1.54 fb−1 , we studied the process e+e−→Uγ , with U→e+e− , using radiative return to search for a resonant peak in the dielectron invariant-mass distribution. We did not find evidence for a signal, and set a 90% CL upper limit on the mixing strength between the Standard Model photon and the dark photon, ε2 , at 10−6 – 10−4 in the 5–520 MeV/c2 mass range.

Abstract

We have studied the vector to pseudoscalar conversion decay ϕ→ηe+e−, with η→π0π0π0, with the KLOE detector at DAΦNE. The data set of 1.7 fb−1 of e+e− collisions at s∼Mϕ contains a clear conversion decay signal of ∼31,000 events from which we measured a value of BR(ϕ→ηe+e−)=(1.075±0.007±0.038)×10−4. The same sample is used to determine the transition form factor by a fit to the e+e− invariant mass spectrum, obtaining bϕη=(1.28±0.10−0.08+0.09) GeV−2, that improves by a factor of five the precision of the previous measurement and is in good agreement with VMD expectations. The only recent η′ photoproduction data off proton available in literature are the differential and total cross sections published by the CLAS and CB-ELSA-TAPS Collaborations. However, the wide information about reaction cross sections are not sufficient to understand the role of resonances involved in the process. Different theoretical works stressed the importance to measure also polarization observables in order to solve the ambiguities in the choice of the parameters used in their models. We present the analysis of η′ photoproduction off the proton analysis, identifying the investigated meson by the π+π−η, π0π0η, and γγ decay modes by using the GRAAL apparatus; and we show the preliminary GRAAL results on the beam asymmetry Σ at beam energy of 1475 MeV.

Abstract

Some recent studies on the mechanisms of the body image formation of the Shroud of Turin showed several tentative explanations: (i) attempts to demonstrate that it is a forgery, (ii) experiments devoted to explain the image formation by corona discharge or using UV radiation, and (iii) the hypothesis that the image was naturally produced by stochastic process triggered by an unknown energy source. In this paper, taking into account the microscopic linen structure, we compare the above mechanisms with the physical and chemical characteristics of the body image. The processing supports the stochastic hypothesis as the mechanism able to explain the yellowed fibrils distribution and the Shroud image formation as a natural phenomenon. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

Abstract

We present a search for a new light vector boson, carrier of a "dark force" between WIMPs, with the KLOE detector at DA_NE. We analysed e+e- → μ+γ-γ ISR events corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 239 pb-1 to find evidence for the e+e- → Uγ, U → μ+μ- process. We found no U vector boson signal and set a 90% C.L. upper limit on the ratio of the U boson and photon coupling constants between 1:6 × 10-5 to 8:6 × 10-7 in the mass region 520 < MU < 980 MeV. A projection of the KLOE sensitivity for the μμγ and ππγ channels at full statistics and extended muon acceptance is also presented. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Two new low-lying 6He levels at excitation energies of about 2.4 MeV and 2.9 MeV were observed in the experimental investigation of the p-ct coincidence spectra obtained by the ³H(4He, pα)2n four-body reaction at E4He beam energy of 27.2 MeV. The relevant E* peak energy and Γ energy width spectroscopic parameters for such 6He* excited states decaying into the a + n + n channel were obtained by analyzing the bidimensional (Ep,Eα) energy spectra. The present new result of two low-lying 6He* excited states above the 4He + 2n threshold energy of 0.974 MeV is important for the investigation of the nuclear structure of neutron-rich light nuclei and also as a basic test for theoretical models in the study of the three-cluster resonance feature of 6He.
