Straipsnyje aptariami septynių vėlyvojo paleolito ir mezolito Svidrų kultūros radimviečių Vyslos slėnyje archeologinių tyrinėjimų rezultatai. Iki šiol šiame regione buvo žinoma 12 paleolito stovyklaviečių, tačiau jos nebuvo archeologiškai ištirtos. Pati ankstyviausia šio regiono vėlyvojo paleolito radimvietė – Brzoza (Toruń-Rudak), stratigrafiškai datuojama vėlyvuoju driasu arba preborialiu. Joje rastas inventorius, skirtas daugiausia medžioklei. Čia rasta 1418 vėlyvojo paleolito ir mezolito Svidrų kultūros objektų. Visi jie buvo traseologiškai ištirti, o tai leido nustatyti pavienių dirbinių funkciją. Manytina, kad šioje stovyklavietėje buvo apsistojama trumpam laikui, dažniausiai rudenį, t. y. šiaurės elnių medžioklės metu. Stare Marzy 5 buvo gyventa nuo driaso III pabaigos iki preborealinio atšilimo (8500 ir 7900 BC). Mezolitinė medžiaga da-tuojama borealio pabaiga – pirmąja atlantinio periodo pradžia (6600–4000 BC). Szynych 13 stovyklavietėje rasta apie 1500 titnago dirbinių, skirtų daugiausia medžio ir kaulo-rago apdirbimui. Ji datuojama driaso III arba borealio laikotarpiais. Čia aptarta medžiaga rodo, kad šioje Vyslos slėnio atkarpoje buvo apsigyventa tik pasitraukus ledynui, t. y. aleriodo laikotarpiu. Manoma, kad tai galėjo būti kultūrų su segmentiniais antgaliais, taip pat Lyngby ir Hamburgo kultūrų nešėjai. Antrojoje paskutinio atšalimo pusėje, preborealyje, šis regionas buvo tankiau apgyvendintas Svidrų kultūros grupių. Gebiet des unteren Wislaflusses wurde besiedelt von den Menschen nach dem Rückzug des Gletschers erst in der Allerödzeit. Es handelte sich wahrscheinlich um Schöpfer der Rückenspitzen-Kultur. Es kann jedoch nicht ausgeschlossen werden, das diese Gebiete gleichzeitig von Gruppen der Lyngby und Hamburger Kultur besiedelt wurden. Es scheint, dass die Swiderian-Kultur sich am unteren Lauf der Wisla noch in der preborealen Zeit, im Zusammenhang mit der hier verspäteten (im Vergleich zu den mehr südlich gelegenen Gebieten) Nachfolge von Waldflächen entwickelte.

A small sample of 44 teeth of bank vole Myodes (=Clethrionomys) glareolus (SCHREBER, 1780) is presented. The findings origin from four Late Pleistocene Croatian localities (three Istrian, and one continental site), and from the faunal „assemblages“ only lower molars (M1, M2, and M3) have been selected, and morphometrically analysed. The most abundant remains (33 teeth) are those from the Vindija Cave (NW Croatia) layers/complexes I to B (MIS 5 to MIS 1 ; dated at approximatelly 88 ka BP to Holocene), while very small sample (8 molars) has been discovered from the Romualdova pećina Cave (W Istria ; layer B /Postglacial). Only one fragment of mandible with M1and2 has been found in the fossil material from the Marlera I site (S Istria ; MIS 3-2), and one molar originates from the Ljubićeva pećina Cave (S Istria ; MIS 2-1). The fossil finds of bank vole are very rare elements in the faunal samples from all four localities, if taken into consideration that several thousands of micromammal specimens have been found and determined among other faunal remains. Short geological settings for each locality have been presented, as well as morphometrical analyses and descriptive statistics, and the results have been compared with the data for the localities/samples of the same age from the different European sites (Slovenia, Austria, Poland, Bulgaria). Myodes glareolus is for the first time determined from the Romualdova pećina and Ljubićeva pećina Caves, and the both sites have been recently sistematically excavated, thus it is to expect that the future investigations of the small mammal remains will give new findings of the bank vole from the Late Pleistocene layers of these Croatian localities.

Crustacean remains are a common component of Mesolithic coastal shell middens in western Scotland and, potentially, are a valuable source of information on subsistence practices and shore ecology, yet they are rarely analyzed or described in detail in the archaeological literature. This paper focuses on the crustacean assemblage from a cave site on a small island in the Inner Hebrides, and offers some preliminary observations on prey selection, activity scheduling, and methods of capture employed by Mesolithic foragers living along the Atlantic coast of Scotland. The palaeoenvironmental significance of the crustacean remains is also discussed.
