This document is the final report of the ATLAS-CMS Dark Matter Forum, a forum organized by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations with the participation of experts on theories of Dark Matter, to select a minimal basis set of dark matter simplified models that should support the design of the early LHC Run-2 searches. A prioritized, compact set of benchmark models is proposed, accompanied by studies of the parameter space of these models and a repository of generator implementations. This report also addresses how to apply the Effective Field Theory formalism for collider searches and present the results of such interpretations.

3. Saxion cosmology for thermalized gravitino dark matter

In all supersymmetric theories, gravitinos, with mass suppressed by the Planck scale, are an obvious candidate for dark matter; but if gravitinos ever reached thermal equilibrium, such dark matter is apparently either too abundant or too hot, and is excluded. However, in theories with an axion, a saxion condensate is generated during an early era of cosmological history and its late decay dilutes dark matter. We show that such dilution allows previously thermalized gravitinos to account for the observed dark matter over very wide ranges of gravitino mass, keV < m3/2 < TeV, axion decay constant, 109 GeV < fa < 1016 GeV, and saxion mass, 10 MeV < ms < 100 TeV. Constraints on this parameter space are studied from BBN, supersymmetry breaking, gravitino and axino production from freeze-in and saxion decay, and from axion production from both misalignment and parametric resonance mechanisms. Large allowed regions of (m3/2, fa, ms) remain, but differ for DFSZ and KSVZ theories. Superpartner production at colliders may lead to events with displaced vertices and kinks, and may contain saxions decaying to (WW, ZZ, hh), gg, γγ or a pair of Standard Model fermions. Freeze-in may lead to a sub-dominant warm component of gravitino dark matter, and saxion decay to axions may lead to dark radiation.

The influence that the electrosynthesis conditions of the polypyrrole/poly(maleic acid-co-olefin) blend have on the charge storage ability (amount of electrical charge stored (mC) per unit mass (mg) of electrogenerated polymer) has been analysed. This is the initial step for the optimisation, pyrrole and poly (maleic acid-co-olefin) concentrations and the polymerisation temperature have been the studied parameters. Optimising these ones, we could obtain materials with average storage charge of 120mc.mg-1.Se ha analizado la influencia de diversas variables de síntesis sobre la capacidad de almacenamiento de carga (mC de carga almacenada / mg de polímero electrogenerado) de aleaciones poliméricas de polipirrol/poli(ácido maléico-co-olefina), como paso inicial para la optimación de este material para su aplicación en baterías todo orgánicas. Las variables de estudio han sido: el potencial y el tiempo de polimerización, las concentraciones de pirrol y poli(ácido maléico-co-olefina) y la temperatura de la solución de polimerización. Optimando estos parámetros se ha logrado sintetizar materiales con una capacidad promedio de almacenamiento de carga de 120 mC. mg-1.

5. Cosmic imprints of XENON1T axions

The recent electron recoil excess observed by XENON1T has a possible interpretation in terms of solar axions coupled to electrons. If such axions are still relativistic at recombination they would also leave a cosmic imprint in the form of an additional radiation component, parameterized by an effective neutrino number Δ Neff. We explore minimal scenarios with a detectable signal in future CMB surveys: axions coupled democratically to all fermions, axion-electron coupling generated radiatively, the DFSZ framework for the QCD axion. The predicted Δ Neff is larger than 0.03-0.04 for all cases, close to the 2σ forecasted sensitivity of CMB-S4 experiments. This opens the possibility of testing with cosmological observations the solar axion interpretation of the XENON1T excess., QC 20210223

6. Coalescence of lateral spreading magma ascending through dykes: a mechanism to form a granite canopy (El Hongo pluton, Sierras Pampeanas, Argentina)

This study deals with the structure of the El Hongo trondhjemite, a ENE--WSW elongate pluton belonging to the Famatinian magmatic arc that developed from Late Cambrian to Silurian times in the Sierras Pampeanas (Argentina). Anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS) measurements combined with structural and microstructural data permit the correlation of magmatic and magnetic fabrics within this ferromagnetic pluton. Magnetic foliations strike north--south and dip steeply west but in the marginal facies the foliation becomes parallel to the ENE--WSW pluton contacts. Magnetic lineations mostly trend north-south and plunge SE. Gravity data reveal that the pluton is in the form of a very thin horizontal sheet resting on two north--south-trending root zones detected below the central portion of the pluton. These root zones represent feeder dykes that exploited tension fractures. The emplacement of the El Hongo pluton took place during the action of a buried sinistral shear zone. parallel to the elongation of the pluton, corresponding to a transfer fault associated with the late extensional exhumation of the Famatinian domain. The emplacement of other Famatinian granites of the Sierras Pampeanas could be related to similar late shear zones.

Nearly circular in outcrop, the Alpa Corral plutón is one of the post-tectonic monzogranitic plutons of the Sierras Pampeanas, in Córdoba (Argentina). This pluton intrudes the Early Paleozoic basement of the Sierras Pampeanas during Late Devonian times. This concentrically zoned pluton is made up by inequigranular to porphyritic monzogranites, distributed in two units: a internal unit formed by coarse to porphyritic granite and a external unit represented by inequigranular leucogranite. Bulk magnetic susceptibility (K) shows bimodal distribution, reflecting magnetite-rich granites for the internal unit and magnetite-poor to paramagnetic granites within external unit. Microstructural evidence indicates that magnetic fabrics are entirely magmatic in origin and reflect the internal magma dynamics. From structural and Anisotropy of Magnetic Susceptibility measurements, the internal structure of this pluton has been inferred. According to the AMS and structural data from the country rocks, the emplacement of the Alpa Corral pluton took place after the vanishement of the compresional stress field responsible for the main structures recorded in the country rocks. However, some control by a far field stress can be deduced from the NNW-SSE alignment of the post-tectonic plutons of the Sierras Pampeanas. This suggests that granite emplacement was controlled by a set of early master fractures related to the extensional collapse in this sector of the Sierras Pampeanas

Magmatic structures related to the mechanical interaction between mafic magmas and granitoids have been studied in the Valle Fértil calc-alkaline igneous complex, Argentina. Excepcional outcrops with vertical walls of more than 300 m high allow us the study of three-dimensional geometries of individual blobs of mafic magma as well as the geometry of pipe-like structures in which mafic microgranular enclaves are concentrated in more than 50 times the normal abundance in the granodiorite mass. The shape of enclaves and pipe-like structures are interpreted as the ressult of top-to-down intrusions of a mafic magma into a granodiorite-tonalite mass. These sinking structures are the result of a reverselly stratified magma chamber with gabbros and diorites at the top and granodiorite-tonalite at the bottom. They may account for most of the structures found in microgranular enclaves and magma mingling zones that characterize calc-alkaline batholiths. Synplutonic intrusions from the top is the only plausible mechanism to account for the observed structures. The model may be of general application to calc-alkaline batholiths characterized by the presence of mafic microgranular enclaves. An implication of these reverselly stratified magma chambers is the presence of a petrological inversion which may be the consequence of cold diapirs emplaced below the mantle wedge in a suprasubduction setting.

13. Incorporation and voltammetric determination of silver (I) at an electrode electrochemically modified with a poly-benzidine film

Electrodes modified with poly-benzidine films are chemically stable in the pH range between 0 and 7, and can be cycled from -0.200 to 0.850 V with no evidence of decomposition. Consequently, in this potential range, they can be used as electrode material for oxidation or reduction of different species. One interesting property of this modified electrode is its capacity to capture and quantify Ag(I) ion present in solution. To obtain reproducible results, the accumulation step was carried out in a AgNO3 solution with acetate buffer at pH = 7. After reduction to Ag(0) in the same solution, the determination step was performed by cyclic voltammetry. The analytical response corresponds to silver oxidation to Ag(I), and the amount of silver incorporated into the film was determined from the charge of the anodic peak. The potential use of this method for analytical determination of silver is discussed. Eletrodos modificados com filmes de poli-bendizina são quimicamente estáveis no intervalo de pH entre 0 e 7 e podem ser ciclados de -0.200 a 0.850 V sem evidência de decomposição. Conseqüentemente, neste intervalo de potencial, eles podem ser usados como material eletródico para a oxidação ou redução de diferentes espécies. Uma propriedade interessante deste eletrodo modificado é sua capacidade de capturar e quantificar o íon Ag(I) presente na solução. Para obter resultados reproduzíveis a etapa de acumulação foi realizada numa solução de AgNO3 com um tampão de acetato de pH = 7. Após redução para Ag(0) na mesma solução, a etapa de determinação foi executado por voltametria cíclica. A resposta analítica corresponde à oxidação para Ag(I) e a quantia de prata incorporada ao filme foi determinada a partir da carga do pico anódico. O uso potencial deste método para a determinação analítica da prata é discutido.

This document is the final report of the ATLAS-CMS Dark Matter Forum, a forum organized by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations with the participation of experts on theories of Dark Matter, to select a minimal basis set of dark matter simplified models that should support the design of the early LHC Run-2 searches. A prioritized, compact set of benchmark models is proposed, accompanied by studies of the parameter space of these models and a repository of generator implementations. 30. Fractionation of hexane extracts from Achyrocline satureioides and their biological activities against Paenibacillus larvae.

- Abstract
Previous studies carried out in our laboratory described the antimicrobial activity of the whole hexanic extract (HE) of Achyrocline satureioides (Lam.) DC against Paenibacillus larvae, the causal agent of American Foulbrood (AFB) a disease of the honey bee larvae. In this study, the HE was partitioned into five main fractions by chromatographic techniques leading to the isolation of four known compounds: two prenylated phloroglucinol α-pyrones (1 and 3), 5,7-dihydroxy-3,8-dimethoxyflavone (gnaphaliin A) (2), and 23-methyl-6-O-demethylauricepyrone (4). Isolated compounds were further analyzed towards structural elucidation using
1 H RMN and13 C RMN spectroscopic techniques. For the first time, the antimicrobial activity of the isolated compounds was evaluated against P. larvae strains by broth microdilution method and compared with that of the whole HE. Compounds 1-4 displayed minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) values ranging between 0.07 and 62.5 μg/mL and 0.26 and 12.5 μg/mL, respectively. The lowest MIC and MBC values were obtained with compounds 3 and 4, respectively. The antimicrobial activity of each single compound and the combination of them showed that the presence of all compounds is needed for the antimicrobial efficacy of whole HE., (© 2022. 31. Thermal Axion Production at Low Temperatures: A Smooth Treatment of the QCD Phase Transition.

- Abstract
We study thermal axion production around the confinement scale. At higher temperatures, we extend current calculations to account for the masses of heavy quarks, whereas we quantify production via hadron scattering at lower temperatures. Matching our results between the two opposite regimes provides us with a continuous axion production rate across the QCD phase transition. We employ such a rate to quantify the axion contribution to the effective number of neutrino species.

- Abstract
Therapy induced senescence (TIS) in tumors and TIS cancer cells secrete proinflammatory senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP) factors. SASP factors promote TIS cancer cells to re-enter the growth cycle with stemness characteristics, resulting in chemo-resistance and disease relapse. Herein, we show that the immunotherapeutic HCW9218, comprising transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) receptor II and interleukin (IL)-15/IL-15 receptor α domains, enhances metabolic and cytotoxic activities of immune cells and reduces TIS tumor cells in vivo to improve the efficacy of docetaxel and gemcitabine plus nab-paclitaxel against B16F10 melanoma and SW1990 pancreatic tumors, respectively. Mechanistically, HCW9218 treatment reduces the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment and enhances immune cell infiltration and cytotoxicity in the tumors to eliminate TIS cancer cells. Immuno-depletion analysis suggests that HCW9218-activated natural killer cells play a pivotal role in TIS cancer cell removal. HCW9218 treatment following docetaxel chemotherapy further enhances efficacy of tumor antigen-specific and anti-programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) antibodies in B16F10 tumor-bearing mice. We also show that HCW9218 treatment decreases TIS cells and lowers SASP factors in off-target tissues caused by chemotherapy of tumor-bearing mice. - Abstract
Vaccination of patients against neoantigens expressed in concurrent tumors, recurrent tumors, or tumors developing in individuals at risk of cancer is posing major challenges in terms of which antigens to target and is limited to patients expressing neoantigens in their tumors. Here, we describe a vaccination strategy against antigens that were induced in tumor cells by downregulation of the peptide transporter associated with antigen processing (TAP). Vaccination against TAP downregulation-induced antigens was more effective than vaccination against mutation-derived neoantigens, was devoid of measurable toxicity, and inhibited the growth of concurrent and future tumors in models of recurrence and premalignant disease. Human CD8
+ T cells stimulated with TAPlow dendritic cells elicited a polyclonal T-cell response that recognized tumor cells with experimentally reduced TAP expression. Vaccination against TAP downregulation-induced antigens overcomes the main limitations of vaccinating against mostly unique tumor-resident neoantigens and could represent a simpler vaccination strategy that will be applicable to most patients with cancer., (©2020 American Association for Cancer Research.)- Published

- Abstract
We examine the theoretical motivations for long-lived particle (LLP) signals at the LHC in a comprehensive survey of standard model (SM) extensions. LLPs are a common prediction of a wide range of theories that address unsolved fundamental mysteries such as naturalness, dark matter, baryogenesis and neutrino masses, and represent a natural and generic possibility for physics beyond the SM (BSM). In most cases the LLP lifetime can be treated as a free parameter from the [Formula: see text]m scale up to the Big Bang Nucleosynthesis limit of [Formula: see text] m. Neutral LLPs with lifetimes above [Formula: see text]100 m are particularly difficult to probe, as the sensitivity of the LHC main detectors is limited by challenging backgrounds, triggers, and small acceptances. MATHUSLA is a proposal for a minimally instrumented, large-volume surface detector near ATLAS or CMS. It would search for neutral LLPs produced in HL-LHC collisions by reconstructing displaced vertices (DVs) in a low-background environment, extending the sensitivity of the main detectors by orders of magnitude in the long-lifetime regime. We study the LLP physics opportunities afforded by a MATHUSLA-like detector at the HL-LHC, assuming backgrounds can be rejected as expected. We develop a model-independent approach to describe the sensitivity of MATHUSLA to BSM LLP signals, and compare it to DV and missing energy searches at ATLAS or CMS. We then explore the BSM motivations for LLPs in considerable detail, presenting a large number of new sensitivity studies. While our discussion is especially oriented towards the long-lifetime regime at MATHUSLA, this survey underlines the importance of a varied LLP search program at the LHC in general. By synthesizing these results into a general discussion of the top-down and bottom-up motivations for LLP searches, it is our aim to demonstrate the exceptional strength and breadth of the physics case for the construction of the MATHUSLA detector.

- Abstract
Neoantigen burden is a major determinant of tumor immunogenicity, underscored by recent clinical experience with checkpoint blockade therapy. Yet the majority of patients do not express, or express too few, neoantigens, and hence are less responsive to immune therapy. Here we describe an approach whereby a common set of new antigens are induced in tumor cells in situ by transient downregulation of the transporter associated with antigen processing (TAP). Administration of TAP siRNA conjugated to a broad-range tumor-targeting nucleolin aptamer inhibited tumor growth in multiple tumor models without measurable toxicity, was comparatively effective to vaccination against prototypic mutation-generated neoantigens, potentiated the antitumor effect of PD-1 antibody or Flt3 ligand, and induced the presentation of a TAP-independent peptide in human tumor cells. Treatment with the chemically-synthesized nucleolin aptamer-TAP siRNA conjugate represents a broadly-applicable approach to increase the antigenicity of tumor lesions and thereby enhance the effectiveness of immune potentiating therapies.

36. Sub-GeV Dark Matter Shining at Future MeV γ-Ray Telescopes.

- Abstract
We propose a novel framework where light (sub-GeV) dark matter (DM) is detectable with future MeV γ-ray telescopes without conflicting with cosmic microwave background (CMB) data. The stable DM particle χ has a very low thermal relic abundance due to its large pair-annihilation cross section. The DM number density is stored in a slightly heavier, metastable partner ψ with suppressed pair-annihilation rates, that does not perturb the CMB, and whose late-time decays ψ→χ fill the Universe with χ DM particles. We provide explicit, model-independent realizations for this framework, and discuss constraints on late-time decays, and thus on parameters of this setup, from CMB, big bang nucleosynthesis, and large scale structure.

37. Extraction-free colorimetric determination of thymol and carvacrol isomers in essential oils by pH-dependent formation of gold nanoparticles.

- Abstract
An extraction-free method is described for the colorimetric determination of thymol (TY) and carvacrol (CA) isomers in essential oils by making use of the pH-dependent formation of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). In solutions of pH 12, TY and CA form gold nanoparticles, while at pH ≤ 11 only CA does so. By taking advantage of this finding, two different approaches based on colorimetric assay (absorption at 550 nm) were developed: one at pH 12 for the determination of total CA and TY, and other at pH 9 and pH 12 for differential quantification of TY and CA. The former agrees with the well-established Folin-Ciocalteu method, and the latter provides a simple way for calculation of TY/CA ratio. The linear ranges are from 100 to 1000 μM at pH 9, and from 50 to 200 μM at pH 12. The limits of detection are 0.09 μM at pH 9, and 0.02 μM at pH 12. These features make this method simple, fast and reliable. Conceivably, it can be used to assess the quality of essential oils and may become a valuable alternative to more sophisticated, laborious and high time-consuming methods. In order to compare human and mouse B cell subset markers, we evaluated T-bet expression in human B cell subsets from individuals of different ages. We found T-bet expressed in unstimulated memory more than naïve B cells, and more in young individuals. TLR7 stimulation up-regulated T-bet in all B cell subsets from young and elderly individuals, and more in the elderly. By fold-increase the best effect was seen in subsets of the elderly and especially in those that undergo class switch (naïve and IgM). We also evaluated CD11c expression, as T-bet+CD11c+ B cells are expanded in healthy elderly individuals and also in patients with autoimmunity. Similar to T-bet, CD11c expression was higher in memory than in naïve B cells, but no differences were observed between young and elderly individuals. - Abstract
The simultaneous determination of eugenol (EU), thymol (Ty) and carvacrol (CA) in honey samples, employing square wave voltammetry (SWV) and chemometrics tools, is informed for the first time. For this purpose, a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was used as working electrode. The operating conditions and influencing parameters (involving several chemical and instrumental parameters) were first optimized by cyclic voltammetry (CV). Thus, the effects of the scan rate, pH and analyte concentration on the electrochemical response of the above mentioned molecules were studied. The results show that the electrochemical responses of the three compounds are very similar and that the voltammetric traces present a high degree of overlap under all the experimental conditions used in this study. Therefore, two chemometric tools were tested to obtain the multivariate calibration model. One method was the partial least squares regression (PLS-1), which assumes a linear behaviour. The other nonlinear method was an artificial neural network (ANN). In this last case we used a supervised, feed-forward network with Levenberg-Marquardt back propagation training. From the accuracies and precisions analysis between nominal and estimated concentrations calculated by using both methods, it was inferred that the ANN method was a good model to quantify EU, Ty and CA in honey samples. Recovery percentages were between 87% and 104%, except for two samples whose values were 136% and 72%. The analytical methodology was simple, fast and accurate., (Copyright © 2016 Elsevier B.V. 40. New constraints on dark matter effective theories from standard model loops.

- Abstract
We consider an effective field theory for a gauge singlet Dirac dark matter particle interacting with the standard model fields via effective operators suppressed by the scale Λ ≳ 1 TeV. We perform a systematic analysis of the leading loop contributions to spin-independent Dirac dark matter-nucleon scattering using renormalization group evolution between Λ and the low-energy scale probed by direct detection experiments. We find that electroweak interactions induce operator mixings such that operators that are naively velocity suppressed and spin dependent can actually contribute to spin-independent scattering. This allows us to put novel constraints on Wilson coefficients that were so far poorly bounded by direct detection. Constraints from current searches are already significantly stronger than LHC bounds, and will improve in the near future. Interestingly, the loop contribution we find is isospin violating even if the underlying theory is isospin conserving.
