1. Holes in silicon are heavier than expected: transport properties of extremely high mobility electrons and holes in silicon MOSFETs

Abstract: The quality of the silicon-oxide interface plays a crucial role in fabricating reproducible silicon spin qubits. In this work we characterize interface quality by performing mobility measurements on silicon Hall bars. We find a peak electron mobility of nearly $40,000\,\text{cm}^2/\text{Vs}$ in a device with a $21\,\text{nm}$ oxide layer, and a peak hole mobility of about $2,000\,\text{cm}^2/\text{Vs}$ in a device with $8\,\text{nm}$ oxide, the latter being the highest recorded mobility for a p-type silicon MOSFET. Despite the high device quality, we note an order-of-magnitude difference in mobility between electrons and holes. By studying additional n-type and p-type devices with identical oxides, and fitting to transport theory, we show that this mobility discrepancy is due to valence band nonparabolicity. The nonparabolicity endows holes with a density-dependent transverse effective mass ranging from $0.6m_0$ to $0.7m_0$, significantly larger than the usually quoted bend-edge mass of $0.22m_0$. Finally, we perform magnetotransport measurements to extract momentum and quantum scattering lifetimes.

Abstract: The recent discovery of altermagnetism has sparked renewed interest in the growth of epitaxial films of the NiAs-phase polymorph of CrSb. This paper describes the magnetron sputtering-based fabrication and characterization of high-quality single crystalline CrSb(0001) thin films supported by an isostructural non-magnetic PtSb buffer. X-ray diffraction and scanning transmission electron microscopy show that the films are phase-pure and possess a very high crystalline quality (mosaicity ~0.05 deg), while also being free of extended crystallographic defects. Both scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy confirm their smooth and homogeneous topography. Additionally, the elemental composition of our films was found to be close to stoichiometric via electron probe microanalysis and X-ray fluorescence. Thus, the developed samples represent an ideal platform for further investigation of the material properties of CrSb.

Abstract: The next mission dedicated to the study of planetary atmospheres is the Ariel space mission, planned for launch in 2029, which will observe a variety of planetary systems belonging to different classes around stars with spectral types from M to A. To optimise the scientific outcome of the mission, such stars need to be homogeneously characterised beforehand. In this work, we focus on a methodology based on spectral synthesis for the characterisation of FGK-type stars from the Ariel Tier 1 Mission Candidate Sample (MCS) which exhibit fast rotation. In addition, we analyse slow-rotating FGK-type stars, with either new observations or archival spectra available, consistently as in our previous work using the equivalent width (EW) analysis. To ensure consistency between our methods, we re-analysed a sample of FGK-type stars with the spectral synthesis method and compared it to our previous work. The results of our analysis show excellent agreement with the previous set of derived parameters. We also computed their orbital parameters establishing whether they belong to the Galactic thin or thick discs. With the current set of stellar parameters, we almost double the analysed hosts in the Ariel MCS to 353 stars in total. Using our homogeneous set of stellar parameters, we studied the correlations between stellar and planetary properties for the Ariel MCS analysed so far. We confirmed a close relationship between stellar mass (up to 1.8 solar masses) and giant planet radius, with more inflated planets at lower metallicity. We confirm that giant planets are more frequent around more metal-rich stars that belong to the thin disc, while lower-mass planets are also found in more metal-poor environments, and are more frequent than giant planets in the thick disc as also seen in other works in the literature., Comment: 20 pages, accepted for publication at A&A

Abstract: By analyzing $4.5$ fb$^{-1}$ of $e^{+}e^{-}$ collision data accumulated with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies ranging from $4599.53$ MeV to $4698.82$ MeV, we report the measurement of the absolute branching fraction (BF) of the inclusive decay $\Lambda_{c}^{+} \to K_{S}^{0} X$ using the double-tag technique. The result is $\mathcal{B}(\Lambda_{c}^{+} \to K_{S}^{0} X)=(10.9\pm0.2\pm0.1)\%$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. This result indicates that there are still undiscovered decay channels containing $K_{S}^{0}$ in the final state with a combined BF of $(3.1\pm0.4)\%$. The BF of the inclusive decay $\Lambda_{c}^{+} \to \overline{K}^{0} / K^{0} X$ is calculated to be $\mathcal{B}(\Lambda_{c}^{+} \to \overline{K}^{0} / K^{0} X)=(21.8 \pm0.4 \pm0.2 \pm1.1)\%$, where the third uncertainty accounts for a possible difference between $\mathcal{B}(\Lambda_{c}^{+} \to K_{S}^{0} X)$ and $\mathcal{B}(\Lambda_{c}^{+} \to K_{L}^{0} X)$. The result is in agreement with the prediction of the statistical isospin model.

5. Shock-induced HCNH+ abundance enhancement in the heart of the starburst galaxy NGC 253 unveiled by ALCHEMI

Abstract: Understanding the chemistry of molecular clouds is pivotal to elucidate star formation and galaxy evolution. As one of the important molecular ions, HCNH+ plays an important role in this chemistry. Yet, its behavior and significance under extreme conditions, such as in the CMZs of external galaxies, are still largely unexplored. We aim to reveal the physical and chemical properties of the CMZ in the starburst galaxy NGC253 with multiple HCNH+ transitions to shed light on the molecule's behavior under the extreme physical conditions of a starburst. We employ molecular line data including results for four rotational transitions of HCNH+ from the ALCHEMI large program to investigate underlying physical and chemical processes. Despite weak intensities, HCNH+ emission is widespread throughout NGC253's CMZ, which suggests that this molecular ion can effectively trace large-scale structures within molecular clouds. Using the quantum mechanical coupled states approximation, we computed rate coefficients for collisions of HCNH+ with para-H2 and ortho-H2 at kinetic temperatures up to 500 K. Using these coefficients in a non-LTE modeling framework and employing a Monte Carlo Markov chain analysis, we find that HCNH+ emission originates from regions with H2 number densities of $\sim10^{2.80}-10^{3.55}$~cm$^{-3}$, establishing HCNH+ as a tracer of low-density environments. Our analysis reveals that most of the HCNH+ abundances in the CMZ of NGC253 are higher than all reported values in the Milky Way. We performed static, PDR, and shock modeling, and found that recurrent shocks could potentially account for the elevated HCNH+ abundances observed in this CMZ. We propose that the unexpectedly high HCNH+ abundances may result from chemical enhancement, primarily driven by the elevated gas temperatures and cosmic ray ionization rates of shocked, low-density gas in the nuclear starburst regions of NGC253., Comment: 18 pages, 14 figures, 2 tables, accepted for publication in A&A

6. New submillimetre HCN lasers in carbon-rich evolved stars

Abstract: Strong laser emission from hydrogen cyanide (HCN) at 805 and 891 GHz has been discovered towards carbon-rich (C-rich) AGB stars, originating from the Coriolis-coupled system between two (1,1^{1e},0) and (0,4^0,0) vibrational states. However, other lines (at 894, 964, 968 and 1055 GHz) in this system remained unexplored due to observational challenges. Using SOFIA/4GREAT observations and Herschel/HIFI archival data, we analyzed the six HCN transitions in eight C-rich AGB stars. We report new HCN transitions show laser action at 964, 968, and 1055 GHz. The 805, 891, and 964 GHz lasers were detected in seven C-rich stars, the 968 GHz laser in six, and the 1055 GHz laser in five, while the 894 GHz line was not detected in any target. Among the detected lasers, the 891 GHz laser is always the strongest, and the 964 GHz laser, like a twin of the 891 GHz line, is the second strongest. Towards IRC+10216, all five HCN laser transitions were observed in six to eight epochs and exhibited significant variations in line profiles and intensities. The cross-ladder lines at 891 and 964 GHz exhibit similar variations, and their intensity changes do not follow the near-infrared light curve (i.e. non-periodic variations). In contrast, the variations of the rotational lines at 805, 968, and 1055 GHz appear to be quasi-periodic, with a phase lag of 0.1 - 0.2 relative to the near-infrared light curve. A comparative analysis indicates that these HCN lasers may be seen as analogues to vibrationally excited SiO and water masers in oxygen-rich stars. We suggest chemical pumping and radiative pumping could play an important role in the production of the cross-ladder HCN lasers, while the quasi-periodic behavior of the rotational HCN laser lines may be modulated by additional collisional and radiative pumping driven by periodic shocks and variations in infrared luminosity. Abstract: We estimate the magnitude of the bias due to non-Gaussian extragalactic foregrounds on the optimal reconstruction of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) lensing potential and temperature power spectra. The reconstruction is performed using a Bayesian inference method known as the marginal unbiased score expansion (MUSE). We apply MUSE to a minimum variance combination of multifrequency maps drawn from the Agora publicly available simulations of the lensed CMB and correlated extragalactic foreground emission. Taking noise levels appropriate to two years of data with the SPT-3G instrument on the South Pole Telescope, we find no statistically significant bias in the MUSE reconstruction when limited to angular multipoles $\ell \leq 3000$. We find a 4.7$\sigma$ bias in the recovered lensing potential power spectrum when smaller scale modes ($\ell \leq 3500$) are included. This work is a first step toward understanding the impact of extragalactic foregrounds on optimal reconstructions of CMB temperature and lensing potential power spectra.

8. Inferring the Equation of State from Neutron Star Observables via Machine Learning

Abstract: We have conducted an extensive study using a diverse set of equations of state (EoSs) to uncover strong relationships between neutron star (NS) observables and the underlying EoS parameters using symbolic regression method. These EoS models, derived from a mix of agnostic and physics-based approaches, considered neutron stars composed of nucleons, hyperons, and other exotic degrees of freedom in beta equilibrium. The maximum mass of a NS is found to be strongly correlated with the pressure and baryon density at an energy density of approximately 800 MeV.fm$^{-3}$. We have also demonstrated that the EoS can be expressed as a function of radius and tidal deformability within the NS mass range 1-2$M_\odot$. 9. Timing and Spectral Evolution of the Magnetar 1E 1841-045 in Outburst

Abstract: We present the timing and spectral analyses of the NICER, NuSTAR, and IXPE observations of the magnetar 1E 1841-045 covering 82 days following its August 2024 bursting activity as well as radio observations utilizing MeerKAT and Effelsberg. We supplement our study with a historical NuSTAR and all 2024 pre-outburst NICER observations. The outburst is marked by an X-ray flux enhancement of a factor 1.6 compared to the historical level, predominantly driven by a newly-formed non-thermal emitting component with a photon index $\Gamma=1.5$. This flux showed a 20% decay at the end of our monitoring campaign. The radio monitoring did not reveal any pulsed radio emission with an upper-limit of 20 mJy and 50 mJy ms on the mean flux density and single pulse fluence, respectively. We detect a spin-up glitch at outburst onset with a $\Delta\nu=6.1\times10^{-8}$ Hz and a $\Delta\dot{\nu}=-1.4\times10^{-14}$ Hz s$^{-1}$, consistent with the near-universality of this behavior among the continuously-monitored magnetars. Most intriguingly, the 1E 1841-045 2-10 keV pulse profile is markedly different compared to pre-outburst; it shows a new, narrow (0.1 cycles) peak that appears to shift towards merging with the main, persistently-present, pulse. This is the second case of pulse-peak migration observed in magnetars after SGR 1830$-$0645, and the two sources exhibit a similar rate of phase shift. This implies that this phenomenon is not unique and might present itself in the broader population. The newly-formed peak for 1E 1841-045 is non-thermal, with emission extending to $\gtrsim20$ keV, in contrast to the case of SGR 1830$-$0645. Abstract: We report the discovery of a transiting brown dwarf orbiting a low-mass star, TOI-6508b. Today, only ~50 transiting brown dwarfs have been discovered. TOI-6508b was first detected with data from the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) in Sectors 10, 37, and 63. Ground-based follow-up photometric data were collected with the SPECULOOS-South and LCOGT-1.0m telescopes, and RV measurements were obtained with the Near InfraRed Planet Searcher (NIRPS) spectrograph. We find that TOI-6508b has a mass of Mp=72.5+7.6-5.1MJup and a radius of Rp=1.03+/-0.03RJup. Our modeling shows that the data are consistent with an eccentric orbit of 19day and an eccentricity of e=0.28+0.09-0.08. TOI-6508b has a mass ratio of M_BD/Ms=0.40, makes it the second highest mass ratio brown dwarf that transits a low-mass star. The host has a mass of Ms=0.174+/-0.004M_Sun, a radius of Rs=0.205+/-0.006R_Sun, an effective temperature of Teff=2930+/-70K, and a metallicity of [Fe/H]=-0.22+/-0.08. Abstract: Using $(2259.3 \pm 11.1)\times10^{6}$ $\psi(2S)$ events acquired with the BESIII detector, the branching fraction of $\psi(2S)\rightarrow\tau^{+}\tau^{-}$ is measured with improved precision to be $\mathcal{B}_{\psi(2S)\rightarrow\tau^{+}\tau^{-}}=(3.240~\pm~0.023~\pm~0.081)\times 10^{-3}$, where the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively, which is consistent with the world average value within one standard deviation. This value, along with those for the branching fractions of the $\psi(2S)$ decaying into $e^{+}e^{-}$ and $\mu^{+}\mu^{-}$, is in good agreement with the relation predicted by the sequential lepton hypothesis. Combining the branching fraction values with the leptonic width of the $\psi(2S)$, the total width of the $\psi(2S)$ is determined to be (287 $\pm$ 9) keV., Comment: 10 page, 5 figures

12. Solid Identification of Extragalactic Gamma-Ray Source Using High-Resolution Radio Interferometric Observation

Abstract: The dominant fraction of the extragalactic $\gamma$-ray sources are blazars, active galactic nuclei with jets inclined at a small angle to the line of sight. Apart from blazars, a few dozen narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxies (NLS1) and a number of radio galaxies are associated with $\gamma$-ray sources. The identification of $\gamma$-ray sources requires multiwavelength follow-up observations since several candidates could reside within the relatively large $\gamma$-ray localisation area. The $\gamma$-ray source 4FGL 0959.6+4606 was originally associated with a radio galaxy. However, follow-up multiwavelength work suggested a nearby NLS1 as the more probable origin of the $\gamma$-ray emission. We performed high-resolution very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) observation at 5 GHz of both proposed counterparts of 4FGL 0959.6+4606. We clearly detected the NLS1 source SDSS J095909.51+460014.3 with relativistically boosted jet emission. On the other hand, we did not detect milliarcsecond-scale compact emission in the radio galaxy 2MASX J09591976+4603515. Our VLBI imaging results suggest that the NLS1 object is the origin of the $\gamma$-ray emission in 4FGL 0959.6+4606., Comment: 11 pages, 1 figure, accepted for publication in Universe

Abstract: Solar flares are regularly observed in extreme ultraviolet (EUV), soft X-rays (SXR), and hard X-rays (HXR). However, those in near and mid-UV are sparse. The Solar Ultraviolet Imaging Telescope (SUIT) onboard the Aditya-L1, launched on 2nd September, 2023 provides regular observations in the 200-400 nm wavelength range through eleven filters. Here, we report the observation of the X6.3 flare on Feb 22, 2024 using eight narrow band (NB) filters of SUIT. We have also used co-spatiotemporal observations from SDO/AIA, Solar Orbiter/STIX, GONG H$\alpha$, Aditya-L1/SoLEXS and GOES. We obtained light curves over the flaring region from AIA 1600, 1700 \r{A} and GONG H$\alpha$ and compared them with the disk-integrated lightcurve obtained from GOES and SoLEXS SXR and STIX HXR. We find that the flare peaks in SUIT NB01, NB03, NB04, and NB08 filters simultaneously with HXR, 1600, and 1700 \r{A} along with the peak temperature obtained from SoLEXS. In contrast, in NB02 and NB05, the flare peaks $\sim$ 2 minutes later than the HXR peak, while in NB06 and NB07, the flare peaks $\sim$ 3 minutes after the GOES soft X-ray peak. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first observation of a flare in these wavelengths (except in NB03, NB04 and NB05). Moreover, for the first time, we show the presence of a bright kernel in NB02. Abstract: IceCube has observed a diffuse astrophysical neutrino flux over the energy region from a few TeV to a few PeV. At PeV energies, the spectral shape is not yet well measured due to the low statistics of the data. This analysis probes the gap between 1 PeV and 10 PeV by using high-energy downgoing muon neutrinos. To reject the large atmospheric muon background, two complementary techniques are combined. The first technique selects events with high stochasticity to reject atmospheric muon bundles whose stochastic energy losses are smoothed due to high muon multiplicity. The second technique vetoes atmospheric muons with the IceTop surface array. Using 9 years of data, we found two neutrino candidate events in the signal region, consistent with expectation from background, each with relatively high signal probabilities. A joint maximum likelihood estimation is performed using this sample and an independent 9.5-year sample of tracks to measure the neutrino spectrum. A likelihood ratio test is done to compare the single power-law (SPL) vs. SPL+cutoff hypothesis; the SPL+cutoff model is not significantly better than the SPL. High-energy astrophysical objects from four source catalogs are also checked around the direction of the two events. No significant coincidence was found.

Abstract: Antiferromagnetic resonance in a bulk $\alpha$-MnTe crystal is investigated using both frequency-domain and time-domain THz spectroscopy techniques. At low temperatures, an excitation at the photon energy of 3.5 meV is observed and identified as a magnon mode through its distinctive dependence on temperature and magnetic field. This behavior is reproduced using a simplified model for antiferromagnetic resonance in an easy-plane antiferromagnet, enabling the extraction of the out-of-plane component of the single-ion magnetic anisotropy reaching (40 $\pm$ 10) $\mu$eV., Comment: 12 pages, 7 figures

16. Implications of {\sigma}-cut potential on Antikaon condensates in neutron stars

Abstract: We investigate the properties of neutron stars with antikaon condensation in the framework of the Relativistic Mean-Field (RMF) model with a $\sigma$-cut potential. The well-known RMF models, TM1 and TM1e, are used to analyze the structure and composition of neutron stars. The antikaon condensation part of the equation of state (EoS) is constrained from the experimental data of K$^{-}$ atomic and kaon-nucleon scattering. The $\sigma$-cut potential, which is known to make the EoS stiffer at high densities, is modulated by a free parameter $f_{s}$. Our present analysis suggests that one can obtain neutron star configurations heavier than 2$M_{\odot}$ with antikaon condensates in most cases for $f_{s}$ = 0.6. The antikaon phase transition is a second-order for $f_{s}$ = 0.6 for both TM1 and TM1e parameter sets. Abstract: We present the luminosity function and volumetric rate of a sample of Type IIP supernovae (SNe) from the Zwicky Transient Facility Census of the Local Universe survey (CLU). This is the largest sample of Type IIP SNe from a systematic volume-limited survey to-date. The final sample includes 330 Type IIP SNe and 36 low-luminosity Type II (LLIIP) SNe with $M_{\textrm{r,peak}}>-16$ mag, which triples the literature sample of LLIIP SNe. The fraction of LLIIP SNe is $19^{+3}_{-4}\%$ of the total CLU Type IIP SNe population ($8^{+1}_{-2}\%$ of all core-collapse SNe). This implies that while LLIIP SNe likely represent the fate of core-collapse SNe of $8-12$ \Msun\ progenitors, they alone cannot account for the fate of all massive stars in this mass range. To derive an absolute rate, we estimate the ZTF pipeline efficiency as a function of the apparent magnitude and the local surface brightness. We derive a volumetric rate of $(3.9_{-0.4}^{+0.4}) \times 10^{4}\ \textrm{Gpc}^{-3}\ \textrm{yr}^{-1}$ for Type IIP SNe and $(7.3_{-0.6}^{+0.6}) \times 10^{3}\ \textrm{Gpc}^{-3}\ \textrm{yr}^{-1}$ for LLIIP SNe. Now that the rate of LLIIP SNe is robustly derived, the unresolved discrepancy between core-collapse SN rates and star-formation rates cannot be explained by LLIIP SNe alone., Comment: Submitted to PASP

Abstract: We present ultraviolet to infrared observations of the extraordinary Type IIn supernova 2023zkd (SN 2023zkd). Photometrically, it exhibits persistent and luminous precursor emission spanning $\sim$4 years preceding discovery ($M_r\approx-15$ mag, 1,500~days in the observer frame), followed by a secondary stage of gradual brightening in its final year. Post-discovery, it exhibits two photometric peaks of comparable brightness ($M_r\lesssim-18.7$ mag and $M_r\approx-18.4$ mag, respectively) separated by 240 days. Spectroscopically, SN 2023zkd exhibits highly asymmetric and multi-component Balmer and He I profiles that we attribute to ejecta interaction with fast-moving ($1,\!000-2,\!000\;\mathrm{km}\;\mathrm{s}^{-1}$) He-rich polar material and slow-moving ($\sim$$400\;\mathrm{km}\;\mathrm{s}^{-1}$) equatorially-distributed H-rich material. He II features also appear during the second light curve peak and evolve rapidly. Shock-driven models fit to the multi-band photometry suggest that the event is powered by interaction with $\sim$$5-6\;M_{\odot}$ of CSM, with $2-3\;M_{\odot}$ associated with each light curve peak, expelled during mass-loss episodes $\sim$$3-4$ and $\sim$$1-2$ years prior to explosion. The observed precursor emission, combined with the extreme mass-loss rates required to power each light curve peak, favors either super-Eddington accretion onto a black hole or multiple long-lived eruptions from a massive star to luminosities that have not been previously observed. We consider multiple progenitor scenarios for SN 2023zkd, and find that the brightening optical precursor and inferred explosion properties are most consistent with a massive ($M_{\mathrm{ZAMS}}\geq30\;M_{\odot}$) and partially-stripped He star undergoing an instability-induced merger with a black hole companion., Comment: 50 pages, 20 figures, 4 tables. Abstract: The $\Xi_c^+ \pi^- \pi^+$ spectrum is investigated using proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4fb$^{-1}$, collected by the LHCb experiment during 2016--2018. Four states are observed with high significance, and their masses and widths are measured to be \begin{align*} m[\Xi_c(2815)^{+}] &= 2816.65 \pm 0.03 \pm 0.03 \pm 0.23 ~\text{MeV}, \Gamma[\Xi_c(2815)^{+}] &= 2.07 \pm 0.08 \pm 0.12~\text{MeV},\\[5pt] m[\Xi_c(2923)^{+}] &= 2922.8 \pm 0.3 \pm 0.5 \pm 0.2~\text{MeV}, \Gamma[\Xi_c(2923)^{+}] &= 5.3 \pm 0.9 \pm 1.4~\text{MeV},\\[5pt] m[\Xi_c(2970)^{+}] &= 2968.6 \pm 0.5 \pm 0.5 \pm 0.2~\text{MeV}, \Gamma[\Xi_c(2970)^{+}] &= 31.7 \pm 1.7 \pm 1.9~\text{MeV},\\[5pt] m[\Xi_c(3080)^{+}] &= 3076.8 \pm 0.7 \pm 1.3 \pm 0.2~\text{MeV}, \Gamma[\Xi_c(3080)^{+}] &= 6.8 \pm 2.3 \pm 0.9~\text{MeV}, \end{align*} where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and due to the limited precision on the $\Xi_c^+$ mass, respectively. The $\Xi_c(2923)^{+}$ baryon is observed for the first time, and is consistent with being the isospin partner of the previously observed $\Xi_c(2923)^{0}$ state. 20. Dissecting the formation of gas-versus-star counter-rotating galaxies from the NewHorizon simulation

Abstract: (Reduced) Using the NewHorizon simulation, we have studied ten gas-versus-star counter-rotating galaxies in field environments with a stellar mass of M*~[1-5]x10^10 Msun. For all of them, the retrograde accretion of gas either from gas stripping from a nearby companion or from the circumgalactic medium is the starting point of the formation process. Then follows the co-existence of two distinct disks of gas rotating in opposite directions, the pre-existing one in the inner parts and the accreted gas in the outer parts of the galaxy. The latter progressively replaces the former leading to the final gas-star kinetic misalignment configuration. During the process, the star formation is first enhanced and then progressively decreases. We roughly estimate that a higher fraction of the pre-existing gas is converted into stars rather than being expelled. We also found that the black hole activity (BH) tends to be enhanced during the removal of the pre-existing gas. Furthermore, our analysis suggests that the formation of a counter-rotating gas component is always accompanied with the formation of counter-rotating stellar disks. These stellar disks can have diverse properties but host in general a younger and more metal rich population of stars with respect to the main disc, depending on the star formation history and BH activity. The central part of counter-rotating disks tend also to be characterized by a younger population, an enhanced star formation rate and a higher metallicity than their outer parts. The high metallicity comes the progressive metal enrichment of the accreted gas by mixing with the pre-existing gas and by supernovae activity as it sinks toward the center of the galaxy. Abstract: This study presents an energy-dependent analysis of seasonal variations in the atmospheric muon neutrino spectrum, using 11.3 years of data from the IceCube Neutrino Observatory. By leveraging a novel spectral unfolding method, we explore the energy range from 125 GeV to 10 TeV for zenith angles between 90{\deg} to 110{\deg}, corresponding to the Antarctic atmosphere. Our findings reveal that the seasonal variation amplitude decreases with energy reaching ($-4.6 \pm 1.1$)\% during Austral winter and increases ($+3.9 \pm 1.2$)\% during Austral summer relative to the annual average at 10TeV. While the unfolded flux exceeds the model predictions by up to 30\%, the differential measurement of seasonal variations remains unaffected. The measured seasonal variations of the muon neutrino spectrum are consistent with theoretical predictions using the MCEq code and the NRLMSISE-00 atmospheric model.

Abstract: Studying the redshifted 21-cm signal from the the neutral hydrogen during the Epoch of Reionization and Cosmic Dawn is fundamental for understanding the physics of the early universe. One of the challenges that 21-cm experiments face is the contamination by bright foreground sources, such as Cygnus A, for which accurate spatial and spectral models are needed to minimise the residual contamination after their removal. In this work, we develop a new, high-resolution model of Cygnus A using Low Frequency Array (LOFAR) observations in the $110{-}250$ MHz range, improving upon previous models by incorporating physical spectral information through the forced-spectrum method during multi-frequency deconvolution. This approach addresses the limitations of earlier models by providing a more accurate representation of the complex structure and spectral behaviour of Cygnus A, including the spectral turnover in its brightest hotspots. The impact of this new model on the LOFAR 21-cm signal power spectrum is assessed by comparing it with both simulated and observed North Celestial Pole data sets. Significant improvements are observed in the cylindrical power spectrum along the Cygnus A direction, highlighting the importance of having spectrally accurate models of the brightest foreground sources. However, this improvement is washed out in the spherical power spectrum, where we measure differences of a few hundred mK at $k<0.63\,h\,\text{cMpc}^{-1}$, but not statistically significant. 23. OGLE-2002-BLG-360: a dusty anomaly among red nova remnants

Abstract: OGLE-2002-BLG-360 is an example of a Galactic red nova, the aftermath of a non-compact stellar merger. The dusty nature of the circumstellar environment makes observations of this particular source difficult, meaning the properties of the central star and its surrounding environment are poorly understood. We aim to establish the parameters of the merger remnant, as well as of the dusty environment and its structure. We attempt to establish similarities with other Galactic red novae and try to understand how such an environment has been formed. We use optical, infrared, and sub-millimetre observations to construct the spectral energy distribution (SED) between 2 um and 1.27 mm for an epoch 15-21 years after the red nova eruption. We use various radiative transfer codes to model the SED and retrieve the physical properties of both the central star and the surrounding dust. We show that the SED is best replicated by a spherically symmetric model consisting of an M-type supergiant surrounded by 0.012 Msun of dust concentrated within two spherical shells. The dust extends out to a maximum distance of 9500 AU from the central source, whilst the inner shell extends out to 1000 AU. The dust composition is dominated by iron grains (58%), but also contains olivine silicates (25%) and alumina dust (17%), which are both required to reproduce the profile of the observed 10 um absorption feature. The inner shell likely originates from merger and post-merger ejecta, whilst the outer shell consists of material lost much earlier, before the merger event occurred. Evolution of the SED indicates continued dust formation within the expanding inner shell, which may be analogous to winds of red supergiants. Abstract: We report on a search for weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP) dark matter (DM) via elastic DM-xenon-nucleus interactions in the XENONnT experiment. We combine datasets from the first and second science campaigns resulting in a total exposure of $3.1\;\text{tonne}\times\text{year}$. In a blind analysis of nuclear recoil events with energies above $3.8\,\mathrm{keV_{NR}}$, we find no significant excess above background. We set new upper limits on the spin-independent WIMP-nucleon scattering cross-section for WIMP masses above $10\,\mathrm{GeV}/c^2$ with a minimum of $1.7\,\times\,10^{-47}\,\mathrm{cm^2}$ at $90\,\%$ confidence level for a WIMP mass of $30\,\mathrm{GeV}/c^2$. We achieve a best median sensitivity of $1.4\,\times\,10^{-47}\,\mathrm{cm^2}$ for a $41\,\mathrm{GeV}/c^2$ WIMP. Abstract: We present cosmological constraints from the Dark Energy Camera All Data Everywhere (DECADE) cosmic shear analysis. This work uses shape measurements for 107 million galaxies measured through Dark Energy Camera (DECam) imaging of $5,\!412$ deg$^2$ of sky that is outside the Dark Energy Survey (DES) footprint. We derive constraints on the cosmological parameters $S_8 = 0.791^{+0.027}_{-0.032}$ and $\Omega_{\rm m} =0.269^{+0.034}_{-0.050}$ for the $\Lambda$CDM model, which are consistent with those from other weak lensing surveys and from the cosmic microwave background. We combine our results with cosmic shear results from DES Y3 at the likelihood level, since the two datasets span independent areas on the sky. The combined measurements, which cover $\approx\! 10,\!000$ deg$^2$, prefer $S_8 = 0.791 \pm 0.023$ and $\Omega_{\rm m} = 0.277^{+0.034}_{-0.046}$ under the $\Lambda$CDM model. These results are the culmination of a series of rigorous studies that characterize and validate the DECADE dataset and the associated analysis methodologies (Anbajagane et. al 2025a,b,c). Overall, the DECADE project demonstrates that the cosmic shear analysis methods employed in Stage-III weak lensing surveys can provide robust cosmological constraints for fairly inhomogeneous datasets. This opens the possibility of using data that have been previously categorized as ``unusable'' for cosmic shear analyses, thereby increasing the statistical power of upcoming weak lensing surveys., Comment: 27 pages, 13 figures

Abstract: We present the Dark Energy Camera All Data Everywhere (DECADE) weak lensing dataset: a catalog of 107 million galaxies observed by the Dark Energy Camera (DECam) in the northern Galactic cap. This catalog was assembled from public DECam data including survey and standard observing programs. These data were consistently processed with the Dark Energy Survey Data Management pipeline as part of the DECADE campaign and serve as the basis of the DECam Local Volume Exploration survey (DELVE) Early Data Release 3 (EDR3). We apply the Metacalibration measurement algorithm to generate and calibrate galaxy shapes. After cuts, the resulting cosmology-ready galaxy shape catalog covers a region of $5,\!412 \,\,{\rm deg}^2$ with an effective number density of $4.59\,\, {\rm arcmin}^{-2}$. The coadd images used to derive this data have a median limiting magnitude of $r = 23.6$, $i = 23.2$, and $z = 22.6$, estimated at ${\rm S/N} = 10$ in a 2 arcsecond aperture. We present a suite of detailed studies to characterize the catalog, measure any residual systematic biases, and verify that the catalog is suitable for cosmology analyses. In parallel, we build an image simulation pipeline to characterize the remaining multiplicative shear bias in this catalog, which we measure to be $m = (-2.454 \pm 0.124) \times10^{-2}$ for the full sample. Despite the significantly inhomogeneous nature of the data set, due to it being an amalgamation of various observing programs, we find the resulting catalog has sufficient quality to yield competitive cosmological constraints.

Abstract: We present the pipeline for the cosmic shear analysis of the Dark Energy Camera All Data Everywhere (DECADE) weak lensing dataset: a catalog consisting of 107 million galaxies observed by the Dark Energy Camera (DECam) in the northern Galactic cap. The catalog derives from a large number of disparate observing programs and is therefore more inhomogeneous across the sky compared to existing lensing surveys. First, we use simulated data-vectors to show the sensitivity of our constraints to different analysis choices in our inference pipeline, including sensitivity to residual systematics. Next we use simulations to validate our covariance modeling for inhomogeneous datasets. Finally, we show that our choices in the end-to-end cosmic shear pipeline are robust against inhomogeneities in the survey, by extracting relative shifts in the cosmology constraints across different subsets of the footprint/catalog and showing they are all consistent within $1\sigma$ to $2\sigma$. This is done for forty-six subsets of the data and is carried out in a fully consistent manner: for each subset of the data, we re-derive the photometric redshift estimates, shear calibrations, survey transfer functions, the data vector, measurement covariance, and finally, the cosmological constraints. Our results show that existing analysis methods for weak lensing cosmology can be fairly resilient towards inhomogeneous datasets. This also motivates exploring a wider range of image data for pursuing such cosmological constraints.

Abstract: We present the photometric redshift characterization and calibration for the Dark Energy Camera All Data Everywhere (DECADE) weak lensing dataset: a catalog of 107 million galaxies observed by the Dark Energy Camera (DECam) in the northern Galactic cap. The redshifts are estimated from a combination of wide-field photometry, deep-field photometry with associated redshift estimates, and a transfer function between the wide field and deep field that is estimated using a source injection catalog. We construct four tomographic bins for the galaxy catalog, and estimate the redshift distribution, $n(z)$, within each one using the Self-organizing Map Photo-Z (SOMPZ) methodology. Our estimates include the contributions from sample variance, zeropoint calibration uncertainties, and redshift biases, as quantified for the deep-field dataset. The total uncertainties on the mean redshifts are $\sigma_{\langle z \rangle} \approx 0.01$. The SOMPZ estimates are then compared to those from the clustering redshift method, obtained by cross-correlating our source galaxies with galaxies in spectroscopic surveys, and are shown to be consistent with each other.

29. Developing fractional quantum Hall states at even-denominator fillings 1/6 and 1/8

Abstract: In the extreme quantum limit, when the Landau level filling factor $\nu<1$, the dominant electron-electron interaction in low-disorder two-dimensional electron systems leads to exotic many-body phases. The ground states at even-denominator $\nu=$ 1/2 and 1/4 are typically Fermi seas of composite fermions carrying two and four flux quanta, surrounded by the Jain fractional quantum Hall states (FQHSs) at odd-denominator fillings $\nu=p/(2p\pm1)$ and $\nu=p/(4p\pm1)$, where $p$ is an integer. For $\nu<$ 1/5, an insulating behavior, which is generally believed to signal the formation of a pinned Wigner crystal, is seen. Our experiments on ultrahigh-quality, dilute, GaAs two-dimensional electron systems reveal developing FQHSs at $\nu=p/(6p\pm1)$ and $\nu=p/(8p\pm1)$, manifested by magnetoresistance minima superimposed on the insulating background. In stark contrast to $\nu=$ 1/2 and 1/4, however, we observe a pronounced, sharp minimum in magnetoresistance at $\nu=$ 1/6 and a somewhat weaker minimum at $\nu=$ 1/8, suggesting developing FQHSs, likely stabilized by the pairing of composite fermions that carry six and eight flux quanta. Our results signal the unexpected entry, in ultrahigh-quality samples, of FQHSs at even-denominator fillings 1/6 and 1/8, which are likely to harbor non-Abelian anyon excitations., Comment: 7+20 pages, 3+14 figures

Abstract: We present optical-to-near infrared (NIR) photometry and spectroscopy of the Type Ia supernova (SN Ia) 2024epr, including NIR spectra observed within two days of first light. The early-time optical spectra show strong, high-velocity Ca and Si features near rarely-observed velocities at $\sim$0.1$c$, and the NIR spectra show a \CI\ "knee." Despite these high-velocity features at early times, SN~2024epr evolves into a normal SN Ia, albeit with stronger peak-light Ca absorption than other SNe Ia with the same light curve shape. Although we infer a normal decline rate, $\Delta m_{15}(B)=1.09\pm0.12$ mag, from the light-curve rise, SN 2024epr is a Branch "cool" object and has red early-time colors ($g-r\approx0.15$ mag at $-10$ days). The high velocities point to a density enhancement in the outer layers of the explosion, but thick-shell He-detonation models do not match the smoothly rising light curve or lack of He in our early-time NIR spectra. No current models (e.g., delayed detonation or thin He shell double detonation) appear to reproduce all of the observed properties. Such constraints are only possible for SN 2024epr from the earliest optical and NIR observations, highlighting their importance for constraining SN Ia models. Finally, we find several other SNe Ia with intermediate mass elements at $\sim$30\,000 km s$^{-1}$ within days after the explosion that evolve into otherwise normal SNe Ia at peak light, suggesting the early-time spectra of SNe Ia may hide a broad diversity of observational characteristics., Comment: 22 pages, 17 figures, to be submitted to the Open Journal of Astrophysics

Abstract: Neutron diffraction experiments of TmFeO3 single crystals were performed in the external magnetic fields. The field along c-axis increases temperature of spin-reorientation transition TSR from phase {\Gamma}4 to {\Gamma}2. Application of the field along b-axis led to the decrease of TSR and to the formation of new phases. Based on the temperature and field dependence of the Bragg reflection intensity, the configuration of magnetically induced phases was proposed. Abstract: In recent neutrino detectors, neutrons produced in neutrino reactions play an important role. Muon capture on oxygen nuclei is one of the processes that produce neutrons in water Cherenkov detectors. We measured neutron multiplicity in the process using cosmic ray muons that stop in the gadolinium-loaded Super-Kamiokande detector. For this measurement, neutron detection efficiency is obtained with the muon capture events followed by gamma rays to be $50.2^{+2.0}_{-2.1}\%$. By fitting the observed multiplicity considering the detection efficiency, we measure neutron multiplicity in muon capture as $P(0)=24\pm3\%$, $P(1)=70^{+3}_{-2}\%$, $P(2)=6.1\pm0.5\%$, $P(3)=0.38\pm0.09\%$. This is the first measurement of the multiplicity of neutrons associated with muon capture without neutron energy threshold.

Abstract: Photosensitive gaseous detectors with a simple photoelectron multiplication mechanism as resistive plate chambers are expected to offer both large photo coverage and excellent time resolution while keeping costs low. We have developed a gaseous photomultiplier (GasPM) and demonstrated that a single-photon time resolution is $25\pm1.1~\rm{ps}$ at the gain of $3.3\times10^6$ with a $\rm {LaB_6}$ photocathode, which has an extremely low quantum efficiency. We then developed a Cherenkov detector using GasPM with a $\rm{CsI}$ photocathode aiming for an application in time-of-flight measurements with a resolution below 10~$\rm{ps}$ for particle identification. We performed a test using the 3 GeV electron beam at the PF-AR test beamline located at KEK, Japan. As a result, the resolution of time-of-flight between the detector and an MCP-PMT is measured to be $\sigma=73.0\pm2.4~\rm{ps}$. The obtained resolution is worse than the target because of the lower gap voltage compared to the design. However, it is consistent with the expectation from the applied gap voltage. Abstract: This manuscript describes an innovative method to tag the muons using the baseline information of the Flash ADC (FADC) waveform of PMTs in the JSNS1 (J-PARC Sterile Neutrino Search at J-PARC Spallation Neutron Source) experiment. This experiment is designed for the search for sterile neutrinos, and a muon tagging is an essential key component for the background rejection since the detector of the experiment is located over-ground, where is the 3rd floor of the J-PARC Material and Life experimental facility (MLF). Especially, stopping muons inside the detector create the Michel electrons, and they are important background to be rejected. Utilizing this innovative method, more than 99.8% of Michel electrons can be rejected even without a detector veto region. Abstract: Using data samples with a total integrated luminosity of 253 $\rm pb^{-1}$ collected by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, the differential cross-sections of inclusive $\pi^\pm$ and $K^\pm$ production, as a function of momentum and normalized by the total hadronic cross-section, are measured at center-of-mass energies from 2.000 to 3.671 GeV. The measured $\pi^{\pm}$ cross sections are consistent with the previously reported $\pi^{0}$ cross-sections by BESIII, while the $K^{\pm}$ cross sections are systematically higher than the $K^0_S$ cross sections by a factor of approximately 1.4. These new results are in agreement with state-of-the-art QCD analyses at next-to-next-to-leading order accuracy, particularly in the large hadron momentum region at energy scales down to 3 GeV. These findings support the validity of isospin symmetry in parton fragmentation processes.

Abstract: The background galaxies in Euclid Early Release Observations images of the Perseus cluster make up a remarkable sample in its combination of 0.57 deg$^2$ area, 25.3 and 23.2 AB mag depth, as well as 0.1" and 0.3" angular resolutions, in optical and near-IR bands, respectively. Towards characterising the history of the Hubble sequence, we perform a preliminary morphological analysis of 2445 and 12,786 galaxies with $I_E < 21$ and $I_E < 23$, respectively. We use single-S\'ersic profiles and the sums of a S\'ersic bulge and an exponential disc to model these galaxies with SourceXtractor++ and analyse their parameters in order to assess their consistencies and biases. The fitted galaxies to $I_E < 21$ span the various Hubble types with ubiquitous bulge and disc components, and a bulge-to-total light ratio B/T taking all values from 0 to 1. The median effective radius of the single-S\'ersic profile is a biased estimate of galaxy size, intermediate between the bulge and disc effective radii, depending on B/T. The axis ratio of the single-S\'ersic profile overestimates that of the disc, increasingly so with B/T. The model impacts the photometry with -0.08 to 0.01 mag median systematic $I_E$ offsets between single-S\'ersic and bulge+disc total magnitudes, and a 0.05 to 0.15 mag dispersion, from low to high B/T. We measure a median 0.4 mag bulge-disc colour difference in $I_E - J_E$ that originates from the disc-dominated galaxies, whereas bulge-dominated galaxies have similar median colours of their components. Remarkably, we also measure redder-inside disc colour gradients, based on 5 to 10% systematic variations of disc effective radii between the optical and near-IR bands. Abstract: In this study, we present a comprehensive analysis of an unidentified point-like ultra-high-energy (UHE) $\gamma$-ray source, designated as 1LHAASO J1740+0948u, situated in the vicinity of the middle-aged pulsar PSR J1740+1000. The detection significance reached 17.1$\sigma$ (9.4$\sigma$) above 25$\,$TeV (100$\,$TeV). The source energy spectrum extended up to 300$\,$TeV, which was well fitted by a log-parabola function with $N0 = (1.93\pm0.23) \times 10^{-16} \rm{TeV^{-1}\,cm^{-2}\,s^{-2}}$, $\alpha = 2.14\pm0.27$, and $\beta = 1.20\pm0.41$ at E0 = 30$\,$TeV. The associated pulsar, PSR J1740+1000, resides at a high galactic latitude and powers a bow-shock pulsar wind nebula (BSPWN) with an extended X-ray tail. The best-fit position of the gamma-ray source appeared to be shifted by $0.2^{\circ}$ with respect to the pulsar position. As the (i) currently identified pulsar halos do not demonstrate such offsets, and (ii) centroid of the gamma-ray emission is approximately located at the extension of the X-ray tail, we speculate that the UHE $\gamma$-ray emission may originate from re-accelerated electron/positron pairs that are advected away in the bow-shock tail., Comment: Corrected spelling errors in several author names

Abstract: We report the timing and spectral analyses upon of the type II X-ray bursts from the Rapid Burster (MXB 1730--335) observed by Insight-HXMT and Swift/XRT. By stacking the long-duration bursts, we find for the first time that the hard X-rays are lagging than the soft X-rays by 3 seconds. However, such a lag is not visible for the short-duration bursts, probably because of the poor statistics. For all bursts the energy spectrum is found to be non-thermal, thanks to the broad band coverage of Insight-HXMT. These findings put new insights into the type-II bursts and require a temporally showing-up corona for possible interpretation.

39. Enceladus and Jupiter as exoplanets: the opposition surge effect

Abstract: Planets and moons in our Solar System have strongly peaked reflected light phase curves at opposition. In this work, we produce a modified reflected light phase curve model and use it to fit the Cassini phase curves of Jupiter and Enceladus. This opposition effect is caused by shadow hiding (SH; particles or rough terrain cast shadows which are not seen at zero phase) and coherent backscattering (CB; incoming light constructively interferes with outgoing light). We find tentative evidence for CB preference in Jupiter compared to SH, and no evidence of preference in Enceladus. We show that the full-width half-maximum (FWHM) of Jupiter's opposition peak is an order of magnitude larger than that of Enceladus and conclude that this could be used as a solid-surface indicator for exoplanets. We investigate this and show that modelling the opposition peak FWHM in solid-surface exoplanets would be unfeasible with JWST or the Future Habitable Worlds Observatory due to the very large signal-to-noise required over a small phase range., Comment: Accepted into A&A, 10 pages, 10 figures

Abstract: This study investigates thermal phototactic bioconvection in an isotropic porous medium using the Darcy-Brinkman model. The top boundary of the medium is exposed to normal collimated light and subjected to heating. A linear analysis of bio-thermal convection is performed using a fourth-order accurate finite difference scheme, employing Newton-Raphson-Kantorovich iterations for both rigid-free and rigid-rigid boundary conditions. The effects of the Lewis number, Darcy number, and thermal Rayleigh number on bioconvective processes are examined and presented graphically. The findings reveal that increasing the thermal Rayleigh number stabilizes the suspension, whereas a higher Lewis number enhances instability.

41. Moir\'e-Tunable Localization of Simultaneous Type I and Type II Band Alignment in a MoSe2/WS2 Heterobilayer

Abstract: Moir\'e heterobilayers exhibiting spatially varying band alignment and electron and hole localization that can be precisely controlled through the twist angle have emerged as exciting platforms for studying complex quantum phenomena. While most heterobilayers of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) have a type II band alignment, the introduction of type I band alignment could enable stronger light-matter coupling and enhanced radiative emission. Here, we show through a combination of first-principles GW plus Bethe Salpeter equation (GW-BSE) calculations and time- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (tr-ARPES) measurements that contrary to previous understanding, the MoSe2/WS2 heterobilayer has a type I band alignment at large twist angles and simultaneous regions of type I and type II band alignment due to the structural reconstruction in different high symmetry regions at small twist angles. In tr-ARPES, consistent with our calculations, a long-lived electron population is only observed in MoSe2 for samples with large twist angles, while in samples with small twist angles, signals from two distinct long-lived excitons are observed. Moreover, despite the near degeneracy of the conduction bands of the two layers, no excitonic hybridization occurs, suggesting that previously observed absorption peaks in this material arise from lattice reconstruction. Our findings clarify the complex energy landscape in MoSe2/WS2 heterostructures, where the coexistence of type I and type II band alignment opens the door to moir\'e-tunable optoelectronic devices with intrinsic lateral heterojunctions.

Abstract: We investigated the ultrafast structural dynamics of cyclobutanone following photoexcitation at $\lambda=200$ nm using gas-phase megaelectronvolt ultrafast electron diffraction. Our investigation complements the simulation studies of the same process within this special issue. It provides information about both electronic state population and structural dynamics through well-separable inelastic and elastic electron scattering signatures. We observe the depopulation of the photoexcited S$_2$ state of cyclobutanone with n3s Rydberg character through its inelastic electron scattering signature with a time constant of $(0.29 \pm 0.2)$ ps towards the S$_1$ state. The S$_1$ state population undergoes ring-opening via a Norrish Type-I reaction, likely while passing through a conical intersection with S$_0$. The corresponding structural changes can be tracked by elastic electron scattering signatures. These changes appear with a delay of $(0.14 \pm 0.05)$ ps with respect the initial photoexcitation, which is less than the S$_2$ depopulation time constant. This behavior provides evidence for the ballistic nature of the ring-opening once the S$_1$ state is reached. The resulting biradical species react further within $(1.2 \pm 0.2)$ ps via two rival fragmentation channels yielding ketene and ethylene, or propene and carbon monoxide. Our study showcases both the value of gas-phase ultrafast diffraction studies as an experimental benchmark for nonadiabatic dynamics simulation methods and the limits in the interpretation of such experimental data without comparison to such simulations.

Abstract: Using $(2712\pm14)\times10^6$ $\psi(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we perform the first amplitude analysis of the radiative decay $\psi(3686)\to \gamma K_S^0 K_S^0$ within the mass region $M_{K_S^0 K_S^0 }<2.8$ GeV/$c^2$. Employing a one-channel K-matrix approach for the description of the dynamics of the $K^0_S K^0_S$ system, the data sample is well described with four poles for the $f_0$-wave and three poles for the $f_2$-wave. The determined pole positions are consistent with those of well-established resonance states. The observed $f_0$ and $f_{2}$ states are found to be qualitatively consistent with those produced in radiative $J/\psi$ decays, indicating the similarity between the two charmonium states in their radiative decays., Comment: 20 pages, 4 figures, submitted to JHEP

Abstract: We report a measurement of the inelasticity distribution in the scattering of neutrinos of energy $80-560$ GeV off nucleons, which is sensitive to the inclusive differential cross section. This analysis is based on a sample of atmospheric muon neutrinos detected in the IceCube sub-array DeepCore during 2012-2021, and is the first such measurement in this energy range. Our measurement extends to energies where accelerator data is not available, hence we compare our results to predictions from perturbative QCD calculations, finding good agreement., Comment: 17 pages, 19 figures

Abstract: We investigate the performance of Opticks, an NVIDIA OptiX API 7.5 GPU-accelerated photon propagation compared with a single-threaded Geant4 simulation. We compare the simulations using an improved model of the NEXT-CRAB-0 gaseous time projection chamber. Performance results suggest that Opticks improves simulation speeds by between $58.47\pm{0.02}$ and $181.39\pm{0.28}$ times relative to a CPU-only Geant4 simulation and these results vary between different types of GPU and CPU. A detailed comparison shows that the number of detected photons, along with their times and wavelengths, are in good agreement between Opticks and Geant4., Comment: 12 pages, 8 Figures

46. Statistical Uncertainties of Limit Cycle Systems in Langevin Bath

Abstract: We show that limit cycle systems in Langevin bath exhibit uncertainty in observables that define the limit-cycle plane, and maintain a positive lower bound. The uncertainty-bound depends on the parameters that determine the shape and periodicity of the limit cycle. In one dimension, we use the framework of canonical dissipative systems to construct the limit cycle, whereas in two dimensions, particle in central potentials with radial-dissipation provide us natural examples. We show that, the position-momenta uncertainty of particle in a central potential is larger than half the magnitude of the angular momentum (conserved) of the particle. We also investigate how uncertainties, which are absent in deterministic systems, increase with time when the systems are attached to a bath and eventually cross the lower bound before reaching the steady state., Comment: 8 pages + 6 figures + supplemental material

Abstract: Galaxy clusters selected based on overdensities of galaxies in photometric surveys provide the largest cluster samples. Yet modeling the selection function of such samples is complicated by non-cluster members projected along the line of sight (projection effects) and the potential detection of unvirialized objects (contamination). We empirically constrain the magnitude of these effects by cross-matching galaxy clusters selected in the Dark Energy survey data with the \rdmpr$\,$ algorithm with significant detections in three South Pole Telescope surveys (SZ, pol-ECS, pol-500d). For matched clusters, we augment the \rdmpr$\,$catalog by the SPT detection significance. For unmatched objects we use the SPT detection threshold as an upper limit on the SZe signature. Using a Bayesian population model applied to the collected multi-wavelength data, we explore various physically motivated models to describe the relationship between observed richness and halo mass. Our analysis reveals the limitations of a simple lognormal scatter model in describing the data. We rule out significant contamination by unvirialized objects at the high-richness end of the sample. While dedicated simulations offer a well-fitting calibration of projection effects, our findings suggest the presence of redshift-dependent trends that these simulations may not have captured. 48. Formation of Jet-driven Forced Reconnection Region and Associated Plasma Blobs in a Prominence Segment

Abstract: We use data from the Atmospheric Imaging Assembly (AIA) onboard the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) to study the most likely formation of a forced reconnection region and associated plasma blobs, triggered by jet-like structures in a prominence segment. Around 05:44 UT on December 16$^{th}$, 2017, hot jet-like structures lifted from a nearby active region and fell obliquely on one side of the prominence segment with velocities of $\approx$45--65 km s$^{-1}$. These eruptions compressed the boundaries of the prominence and flux rope, forming an elongated reconnection region with inflow velocities of 47--52 km s$^{-1}$ and 36--49 km s$^{-1}$ in the projected plane. A thin, elongated reconnection region was formed, with multiple magnetic plasma blobs propagating bidirectionally at velocities of 91--178 km s$^{-1}$. These dense blobs, associated with ongoing reconnection, may also be linked to the onset of Kelvin-Helmholtz (K-H) instability. The blobs are attributed to plasmoids, moving at slower speeds (91--178 km s$^{-1}$) due to the high density in the prominence segment. The dimensionless reconnection rate varied from 0.57--0.28, 0.53--0.26, and 0.41--0.20, indicating reconnection rate enhancement and supporting the forced reconnection scenario. After reconnection, the prominence plasma heated to 6 MK, releasing significant thermal energy ($\approx$5.4$\times$10$^{27}$ erg), which drained cool prominence plasma and heated it to coronal temperatures. The ubiquity of jets and outflows in the solar atmosphere makes the aforementioned of reconnection and possible co-existence of K-H instability potentially important for the magnetic energy release and heating in the solar atmosphere., Comment: 10 Figures and Accepted for publications in ApJ

Abstract: Lorentz invariance is a fundamental symmetry of spacetime and foundational to modern physics. One of its most important consequences is the constancy of the speed of light. This invariance, together with the geometry of spacetime, implies that no particle can move faster than the speed of light. In this article, we present the most stringent neutrino-based test of this prediction, using the highest energy neutrino ever detected to date, KM3-230213A. The arrival of this event, with an energy of $220^{+570}_{-110}\,\text{PeV}$, sets a constraint on $\delta \equiv c_\nu^2-1 < 4\times10^{-22}$.

Abstract: Utilizing 4.5 $fb^-$ of $e^+e^-$ annihilation data collected at center-of-mass energies ranging from 4599.53 MeV to 4698.82 MeV by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we search for the singly Cabibbo-suppressed hadronic decays $\Lambda_{c}^{+}\to\Sigma^{0} K^{+}\pi^{0}$ and $\Lambda_{c}^{+}\to\Sigma^{0}K^{+}\pi^+\pi^-$ with a single-tag method. No significant signals are observed for both decays. The upper limits on the branching fractions at the $90\%$ confidence level are determined to be $5.0\times 10^{-4}$ for $\Lambda_{c}^{+}\to\Sigma^{0} K^{+}\pi^{0}$ and $6.5\times 10^{-4}$ for $\Lambda_c^{+}\to\Sigma^0K^{+}\pi^{+}\pi^{-}$., Comment: 12 pages, 6 figures
