We catalog the 443 bright supernovae discovered by the All-Sky Automated Survey for Supernovae (ASAS-SN) in $2018-2020$ along with the 519 supernovae recovered by ASAS-SN and 516 additional $m_{peak}\leq18$ mag supernovae missed by ASAS-SN. Our statistical analysis focuses primarily on the 984 supernovae discovered or recovered in ASAS-SN $g$-band observations. The complete sample of 2427 ASAS-SN supernovae includes earlier $V$-band samples and unrecovered supernovae. For each supernova, we identify the host galaxy, its UV to mid-IR photometry, and the offset of the supernova from the center of the host. Updated light curves, redshifts, classifications, and host galaxy identifications supersede earlier results. With the increase of the limiting magnitude to $g\leq18$ mag, the ASAS-SN sample is roughly complete up to $m_{peak}=16.7$ mag and is $90\%$ complete for $m_{peak}\leq17.0$ mag. This is an increase from the $V$-band sample where it was roughly complete up to $m_{peak}=16.2$ mag and $70\%$ complete for $m_{peak}\leq17.0$ mag., Comment: 14 pages, 7 figures, 4 tables. In this catalog we compile information for all supernovae discovered by the All-Sky Automated Survey for SuperNovae (ASAS-SN) as well as all other bright ($m_{peak}\leq17$), spectroscopically confirmed supernovae found in 2017, totaling 308 supernovae. We also present UV through near-IR magnitudes gathered from public databases of all host galaxies for the supernovae in the sample. We perform statistical analyses of our full bright supernova sample, which now contains 949 supernovae discovered since 2014 May 1, including supernovae from our previous catalogs. This is the fourth of a series of yearly papers on bright supernovae and their hosts from the ASAS-SN team, and this work presents updated data and measurements, including light curves, redshifts, classifications, and host galaxy identifications, that supersede information contained in any previous publications., 14 pages, 6 figures, 4 tables. This manuscript presents information for all supernovae discovered by the All-Sky Automated Survey for SuperNovae (ASAS-SN) during 2015, its second full year of operations. The same information is presented for bright ($m_V\leq17$), spectroscopically confirmed supernovae discovered by other sources in 2015. As with the first ASAS-SN bright supernova catalog, we also present redshifts and near-UV through IR magnitudes for all supernova host galaxies in both samples. Combined with our previous catalog, this work comprises a complete catalog of 455 supernovae from multiple professional and amateur sources, allowing for population studies that were previously impossible. Toughened glass panels used as a glazing material in multistorey buildings are known to fracture prematurely when they contain nickel sulfide inclusions as a result of the α-β phase recrystallisation in nickel sulfide. The kinetics of this recrystallisation were studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) under isothermal and non-isothermal conditions. The recrystallisation was observed to be a two-step process with an induction period followed by the phase change. A two-stage kinetic model was used to estimate the recrystallisation time under ambient conditions. These values were found to correlate well with the observed time to failure for glass panels installed in multistorey buildings.

Toughened glass panels used as glazing material in multistory buildings are subject to fracture when they contain nickel sulfide inclusions. The failure mechanism is generally attributed to the significant volume increase related to a polymorphic phase retransformation in nickel sulfide. This investigation exploits the ability of micro Raman spectroscopy to analyze minute inclusions. The technique is able to distinguish between different polymorphs and various stoichiometric forms of nickel sulfide and has the potential to satisfy the need for an in situ, nondestructive analytical technique for the characterization of nickel sulfide inclusions in glass.

Nickel sulphide (NiS) was characterised using X-ray diffraction, thermal gravimetric analysis (TG) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The 'as received' Millerite, stoichiometric NiS, observed to be slightly nickel deficient, was found to readily decompose in a nitrogen atmosphere at elevated temperatures (450°C max.) to the sulphur deficient Godlevskite, Ni7S6. DSC and X-ray measurements demonstrated that the high temperature form of the Godlevskite was readily stabilised at room temperature. The kinetics of the α-β re-transformation in Godlevskite were then investigated using DSC and were observed to be first order.

The phase morphology of nickel sulfide (NiS) has received attention because of the possible correlation between fracture of toughened window glass panels and the α–β phase transition. The detection of NiS in situ in glass, however, has proven difficult for a number of reasons, including its small size and dark color, which is ubiquitous among other contaminant stones in glass. The current study employed Raman spectroscopy to characterize NiS in both the α and β forms, because this technique is nondestructive and has the potential for the in situ characterization of NiS. Differentiation between the two forms of NiS was found possible and is discussed in terms of the phase change from a rhombohedral unit cell in the β form to a hexagonal cell in the α form.

The short term effects of bilateral vasectomy on the testis and the accessory sex glands of the guinea pig were compared with the effects of sham operation and unilateral vasectomy at 3, 5, 7, and 9 weeks after operation. The testis weights, sorbitol dehydrogenase activity, histology, epididymal sperm number, and motility were recorded. Accessory sex glands were weighed and chemically analyzed for fructose and citric acid content. The citric acid concentration of the dorsolateral prostate of the bilateral vasectomy group was significantly higher than concentrations in sham-operated and unilateral vasectomy groups at 3 weeks only. This may indicate transient hormonal derangement as a result of vasectomy. No significant differences were noted between testes of vasectomy and sham-operated groups. The unligated side testes of the unilateral vasectomy group were different from the testes of vasectomy and sham-operated groups. We conclude that interruption and ligation of the vas deferens itself has no effect on the testis of the guinea pig. Furthermore, all vasectomy experiments should include sham-operated controls.

A form of cryptorchidism attributed to biotin deficiency was recently reported in rats (1). The reproductive anomaly was produced in 8 rats in 2 experiments involving a diet rich (66%) in spray-dried egg white, containing avidin, a protein which combines with biotin within the intestine in a non-absorbable complex(2). The cause of the cryptorchidism was suggested as due to the contracture of the cremaster muscle which completely surrounds the testicle in the rat. Biotin deficiency symptoms have been described in detail in the rat(3) and fowl (4), and the biochemical action of this vitamin in carboxylase and deaminase systems has been reported in bacteria and mammalian tissues56. Although other vitamin deficiencies, for example, A and E, have been involved in male reproductive disorders, the claim that biotin deficiency may specifically cause testicular ascent is of unusual interest. We present basic statistics for all supernovae discovered by the All-Sky Automated Survey for SuperNovae (ASAS-SN) during its first year-and-a-half of operations, spanning 2013 and 2014. We also present the same information for all other bright ($m_V\leq17$), spectroscopically confirmed supernovae discovered from 2014 May 1 through the end of 2014, providing a comparison to the ASAS-SN sample starting from the point where ASAS-SN became operational in both hemispheres. In addition, we present collected redshifts and near-UV through IR magnitudes, where available, for all host galaxies of the bright supernovae in both samples. This work represents a comprehensive catalog of bright supernovae and their hosts from multiple professional and amateur sources, allowing for population studies that were not previously possible because the all-sky emphasis of ASAS-SN redresses many previously existing biases. In particular, ASAS-SN systematically finds bright supernovae closer to the centers of host galaxies than either other professional surveys or amateurs, a remarkable result given ASAS-SN's poorer angular resolution.
