The purpose of this study was to examine the association between myopic time discounting and financial well-being moderated by financial knowledge, guided by the dual-self model. Regression results with data from the 2016 National Financial Well-Being Survey sponsored by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau showed that myopia was associated negatively with financial well-being. In addition, financial knowledge was positively associated with financial well-being, and it plays an important role as a moderator on the association between myopia and financial well-being. When both financial knowledge’s direct and interactive effects were considered, financial knowledge may increase the financial well-being of myopic discounters at much smaller rates than nonmyopic discounters. This study provides implications for financial practitioners, educators, and researchers in helping consumers improve their financial well-being.

We examined the association between financial knowledge overconfidence and the perception of emergency fund needs using the 2016 Survey of Consumer Finances (SCF) dataset. Only 28% of respondents reported a perceived amount of emergency funds needed that would cover at least three months of estimated spending. We conducted an OLS regression analysis on the log of the ratio of perceived emergency fund needs to household monthly expenditure. Overconfident respondents perceived a ratio 21.4% lower than those who had objective and subjective financial knowledge above median levels. Overconfident respondents might be underestimating emergency fund needs, suggesting the importance of not only increasing objective financial knowledge but also making consumers aware of the limitations of their financial knowledge.

This study explores financial knowledge patterns from 2009 to 2018, focusing on objective and subjective knowledge, overconfidence in financial knowledge, and “Don’t know” responses. We used four waves of National Financial Capability Study (NFCS) datasets. Objective financial knowledge was lower in 2018 than in 2009, and the proportion of individuals who were overconfident was higher in 2018 than in 2009. The mean number of “Don’t know” responses to objective knowledge questions increased consistently over the period. Most of these patterns persisted when we controlled for household characteristics in regressions. The lack of increases in financial knowledge despite formal and informal educational efforts raises the question as to whether existing efforts for formal and informal education are sufficient.

Fulvestrant is a selective oestrogen receptor (ER) degrader used in postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive advanced breast cancer. The study aim was to analyse demographics and outcomes of UK patients treated with fulvestrant monotherapy at nine representative centres.Medical records of 459 patients with locally advanced or metastatic ER-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer treated with fulvestrant between August 2011 and November 2018 at nine UK centres were reviewed. Data were collated on demographics, progression-free survival, overall survival and disease response at first radiological assessment following fulvestrant initiation. Patients still alive by December 2018 were censored.Data from 429 of the 459 patients identified were eligible for inclusion in the analysis. The median age was 69 (range 21-95) and 64% (n = 275) had Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status 0-1. Bone was the most commonly involved metastatic site (72%, n = 306). However, 295 (69%) patients had visceral involvement. Patients had received a median 2 (range 0-5) prior lines of endocrine therapy and median 0 (range 0-6) prior chemotherapies. Fulvestrant was first-line therapy in 43 patients (10%). The median duration of treatment was 5 months (range 1-88). The median progression-free survival was 5.5 months. In 51% of 350 patients radiologically assessed, there was evidence of disease response to fulvestrant. Fifteen per cent of these had a complete/partial response. Fulvestrant was discontinued predominantly due to disease progression, with 3% discontinued solely due to adverse events. The median overall survival for the whole cohort was 22.5 months (range 0-88).This is one of the largest studied cohorts of breast cancer patients treated with fulvestrant. This heavily endocrine-pretreated population reflects real-life use in the UK. Within this context, our retrospective data show that patients can experience maintained disease response when treated with fulvestrant, supporting the importance of equitable availability for all UK patients.

The power, privilege, and oppression paradigm that most schools of social work currently espouse to are often taught through an experiential approach to whiteness, privileging the majority of white students with the opportunity to explore their white identity at the expense of the learning of the Black/Brown, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) students in the classroom. Many BIPOC students experience these courses as a hostile environment, finding themselves and their racial group identified in contrast to whiteness – oppressed, marginalized, silenced, and powerless. This paper presents an innovative course outline using Critical Race Theory and Critical White Studies as theoretical frameworks to decenter whiteness and attend to the learning needs of BIPOC students. Using these two theoretical frameworks, students will learn the history of the racial hierarchy of humans; the social construction of whiteness, the evolution of anti-black racism and the extension to other people of color; and the relationship between white supremacy and racism.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to explore the direct and indirect effects of perceived provider professionalism and service recovery in enhancing patient satisfaction in a developing country. Design/methodology/approach This study used a survey method to investigate satisfaction among health-care consumers. This study used data collected from 210 health-care consumers to empirically test the hypotheses via structural equation modeling Findings This study found that service recovery has a significant direct effect on patient satisfaction. Though this study did not find perceived provider professionalism to have a direct effect on patient satisfaction, it found an indirect effect in the relationship via service experience. Thus, service experience fully/completely mediates the relationship between perceived provider professionalism and patient satisfaction, while partially mediating the significant relationship between service recovery and patient satisfaction. Originality/value The results further underscore the need for health-care organizations in developing countries to focus on mindfully developing operations-oriented strategies that lead to the delivery of memorable service experiences for patients.

The Survey of Consumer Finances (SCF) has included a 4-level risk tolerance measure since 1983. In 2016, the SCF also included an 11-level risk tolerance measure. We compare the two measures, and develop suggestions for using the new measure. While the new measure is seemingly simpler than the old measure, we demonstrate that it does not have a monotonic relationship with owning stock assets, with a pattern similar to the relationship of the old measure to stock ownership. We also identify complex patterns of factors related to different levels of the new measure, for instance education has a negative relationship at one level but positive at another level. Those using the new measure should consider the complex patterns we demonstrate.

On April 23, 2019, a meteorite fall occurred in Aguas Zarcas, Costa Rica. According to the Meteoritical Bulletin, Aguas Zarcas is a brecciated CM2 chondrite dominated by two lithologies. Our X‐ray computed tomography (XCT) results show many different lithologies. In this paper, we describe the petrographic and mineralogical investigation of five different lithologies of the Aguas Zarcas meteorite. The bulk oxygen isotope compositions of some lithologies were also measured. The Aguas Zarcas meteorite is a breccia at all scales. From two small fragments, we have noted five main lithologies, including (1) Met‐1: a metal‐rich lithology; (2) Met‐2: a second metal‐rich lithology which is distinct from Met‐1; (3) a brecciated CM lithology with clasts of different petrologic subtypes; (4) a C1/2 lithology; and (5) a C1 lithology. The Met‐1 lithology is a new and unique carbonaceous chondrite which bears similarities to CR and CM chondrite groups, but is distinct from both based on oxygen isotope data. Met‐2 also represents a new type of carbonaceous chondrite, but it is more similar to the CM chondrite group, albeit with a very high abundance of metal. We have noted some similarities between the Met‐1 and Met‐2 lithologies and will explore possible genetic relationships. We have also identified a brecciated CM lithology with two primary components: a chondrule‐poor lithology and a chondrule‐rich lithology showing different petrologic subtypes. The other two lithologies, C1 and C1/2, are very altered and possibly related to the CM chondrite group. When introducing production control solutions, most textbooks focus on a to-stock, repetitive context. In response, we extend the classical match and dice game, which focusses on a repetitive context,in order to teach complexitiesthat emerge in a non-repetitive context, such as the emergence of direct and indirect load, and to introduce appropriate production control solutions, e.g. Constant Work-In-Process (ConWIP)and Control of Balance by Card Based Navigation (COBACABANA). Twofield testsareused to prove the playability of our game and assess its teaching effectiveness using post-game scores and self-assessment. Both give support to our game and highlight that it helps students to understand complex knowledge.Applying the simulation as part of aniterative design process in two cases not only ensured the pragmatic validity of our design, i.e. that learning objectives were met, but also provided important insight on the production control systems taught. During the applicationwe encountered several issues that provide insights for the implementation of concepts as COBACABANA (or Workload Control) in practice. In terms of theory, applying the game showed that there is a change in mindset required when switching from Kanban to COBACABANA and physics synchronization is essential for logistics synchronization.

We report [Li] and δ7Li values for a well-characterized suite of 52 geographically (165–184°W), compositionally (SiO2 = 46–70 wt.%), and temporally (0–38 Ma) diverse lavas and intrusive samples. The δ7Li in these rocks range from −0.7‰ to +14.2‰, with 32 of the 35 lavas and 12 of the 17 intrusive samples falling within the depleted mantle range (δ7Li +1.6 to +5.6‰), as sampled by mid-ocean ridge basalts (MORB). The δ7Li values of Aleutian lavas do not exhibit the spatial trends observed in other slab component tracers, nor do δ7Li values correlate with any slab component indicators, such as radiogenic isotopes, oxygen isotopes, or trace element ratios such as Cs/La and Th/La. The δ7Li values in Aleutian intrusions also do not exhibit temporal trends, however, an overall positive relationship exists between δ7Li and Th/Nd. Mixing models for δ7Li and 143Nd/144Nd values suggest that Aleutian samples within or above the MORB δ7Li range can be explained by addition of

Rock breakdown due to diurnal thermal cycling has been hypothesized to drive boulder degradation and regolith production on airless bodies. Numerous studies have invoked its importance in driving landscape evolution, yet morphological features produced by thermal fracture processes have never been definitively observed on an airless body, or any surface where other weathering mechanisms may be ruled out. The Origins, Spectral Interpretation, Resource Identification, and Security–Regolith Explorer (OSIRIS-REx) mission provides an opportunity to search for evidence of thermal breakdown and assess its significance on asteroid surfaces. Here we show boulder morphologies observed on Bennu that are consistent with terrestrial observations and models of fatigue-driven exfoliation and demonstrate how crack propagation via thermal stress can lead to their development. The rate and expression of this process will vary with asteroid composition and location, influencing how different bodies evolve and their apparent relative surface ages from space weathering and cratering records., In their study, the authors discuss the potential of thermal weathering on airless bodies. As a case study, they use boulder and fracture morphologies on asteroid Bennu.

This study used data from the 2015 National Financial Capability Study to analyze the adoption of mobile payments by U.S. households. While 24% of respondents used mobile payments, the mean rate for those under age 25 was 11 times the rate for those 65 and older. State rates ranged from about 9% in Montana to 34% in Washington, DC. Based on a logistic regression, age and an objective financial knowledge score were negatively while risk tolerance and a subjective financial knowledge score were positively related to mobile payment use. The results have implications for marketing of Fintech applications for personal finance, especially in terms of the extremely low mobile payment use by older consumers.

Purpose To evaluate the physical and chemical compatibilities of treprostinil sodium and dopamine hydrochloride. Methods Treprostinil sodium (4,000, 76,000, and 500,000 ng/mL) were mixed with dopamine hydrochloride (0.6, 3.2, 6, and 40 mg/mL). Samples were obtained at hours 0, 1, 2, and 4 for physical compatibility and chemical stability testing. Physical compatibility was assessed by visual examination and measurements of turbidity and pH. Drug concentrations were assessed using stability-indicating liquid chromatography mass spectrophotometry (LCMS) for treprostinil sodium and stability-indicating high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) for dopamine hydrochloride. Results Treprostinil sodium 4,000 and 76,000 ng/mL, when mixed with dopamine hydrochloride 0.6, 3.2, 6, and 40 mg/mL, were stable for 4 hours. Treprostinil sodium 500,000 ng/mL was stable when mixed with dopamine hydrochloride 0.6 mg/mL for 4 hours, but when mixed with dopamine hydrochloride 3.2, 6, and 40 mg/mL, significant precipitation was seen. Conclusion Treprostinil sodium 4,000 and 76,000 ng/mL were stable for 4 hours during simulated Y-site coadministration with dopamine hydrochloride 0.6, 3.2, 6, and 40 mg/mL. Treprostinil sodium 500,000 ng/mL is stable when mixed with dopamine hydrochloride 0.6 mg/mL.

This article describes the current status and trends in the past three decades (1990–2019) of the Journal of Financial Counseling and Planning (JFCP). Since its first issue published in 1990, JFCP has become a major research outlet in consumer finance. The journal publishes cutting-edge, peer-reviewed, original research papers on consumer financial counseling, planning, and education that have broad impacts on both academic research and business practices in the field of consumer finance. It is included in many major indexes such as Scopus, Emerging Source Citation Index, EconLit, among others. It has published influential papers on consumer financial well-being, financial capability, financial education, financial counseling, financial planning, retirement planning, risk tolerance, and financial behavior change.

To assess the impact of a pilot nurse-led paediatric oncology fast-track clinic (OFTC) for complications and side effects following chemotherapy within a paediatric tertiary hospital. Prospective clinical data from the first 100 patients seen in the OFTC were compared with retrospective data of oncology patient presentations to the emergency department (ED) (over a 1-year period, n = 196) who would have been eligible for review in the OFTC. Parent and patient satisfaction of clinical care were also assessed via surveys pre- and post-OFTC implementation. Analysis which achieved statistical difference was a reduction in the number of blood tubes taken in OFTC (average 1.9 for those discharged from clinic, 2.9 for those admitted from clinic) in comparison to those seen in the ED (average 3.2) (p = 0.0027). The average number of interventions per patient seen in the ED were 2.1 (standard deviation 1.64) compared with 1.7 (standard deviation 1.55) interventions per patient seen in the OFTC, and who were not admitted following review. This result approached statistical significance with p = 0.0963. Other results which did not meet statistical significance included a reduction in treatment times, hospital admissions and medical oncology reviews. Our pilot study implementing an OFTC for the triage and assessment of chemotherapy-related complications has proven successful from an operational and consumer perspective. The clinic improved care by ensuring expedited review, more streamlined interventions, and less overall hospital admissions. The improvements in efficiency were also mirrored by increased parent and patient satisfaction.

International audience; On April 23rd, 2019, the Aguas Zarcas meteorite fall occurred in Costa Rica. Because the meteorite was quickly recovered, it contains valuable extraterrestrial materials that have not been contaminated by terrestrial processes. Our X-ray computed tomography (XCT) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) results on various pre-rain fragments from earlier work (Kerraouch et al., 2020; 2021) revealed several distinct lithologies: Two distinct metal-rich lithologies (Met-1 and Met-2), a CM1/2 lithology, a C1 lithology, and a brecciated CM2 lithology consisting of different petrologic types. Here, we further examined these lithologies in the brecciated Aguas Zarcas meteorite and report new detailed mineralogical, chemical, isotopic, and organic matter characteristics. In addition to petrographic differences, the lithologies also display different chemical and isotopic compositions. The variations in their bulk oxygen isotopic compositions indicate that the various lithologies formed in different environments and/or under diverse conditions (e.g., water/rock ratios). Each lithology experienced a different hydration period during its evolution. Together, this suggests that multiple precursor parent bodies may have been involved in these processes of impact brecciation, mixing, and re-assembly. The Cr and Ti isotopic data for both the CM1/2 and Met-1 lithology are consistent with those of other CM chondrites, even though Met-1 displays a significantly lower ε50Ti isotopic composition that may be attributable to sample heterogeneities on the bulk meteorite scale and may reflect variable abundances of refractory phases in the different lithologies of Aguas Zarcas. Finally, examination of the organic matter of the various lithologies also suggests no strong evidence of thermal events, but a short-term heating cannot completely be excluded. Raman parameters indicate that the peak temperature has been lower than that for Yamato-793321 (CM2, ∼400 °C). Considering the new information presented in this study, we now better understand the origin and formation history of the Aguas Zarcas daughter body.

BACKGROUND Critical access hospitals (CAHs) are small hospitals in rural communities in the United States. Because of changes in rural population demographics, legacy financial obligations, and/or structural issues in the U.S. health care system, many of these institutions are financially distressed. Indeed, many have closed due to their inability to maintain financial viability, resulting in a health care and economic crisis for their communities. Employee recruitment, retention, and turnover are critical to the performance of these hospitals. There is limited empirical study of the factors that influence turnover in such institutions. PURPOSE The primary purpose of the study was to study relationships between interpersonal support, supervisory support, employee engagement, and employee turnover intentions in CAHs. A secondary purpose was to study how financial distress affects these relationships. METHODOLOGY Based on a survey of CAH employees (n = 218), the article utilizes mediated moderation analysis of a structural equation model. RESULTS Interpersonal support and supervisory support are positively associated with employee engagement, whereas employee engagement mediates the relationships between both interpersonal support and supervisory support and employee turnover intentions. Statistically significant differences are found between these relationships in financially distressed and highly financially distressed institutions. CONCLUSIONS Our results are consistent with the social exchange theory upon which our hypotheses and model are built and demonstrate the value of using the degree of organizational financial distress as a contextual variable when studying motivational factors influencing employee turnover intentions. PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS In addition to advancing management theory as applied in the CAH context, our study presents the practical insight that employee perceptions of their employer's financial condition should be considered when organizations develop employee retention strategies. Specifically, employee engagement strategies appear to be of greater value in the case of highly financially distressed organizations, whereas supervisory support seems more effective in financially distressed organizations.

In order to characterize the early growth of fine-grained dust rims (FGRs) that commonly surround chondrules, we perform numerical simulations of dust accretion onto chondrule surfaces. We employ a Monte Carlo algorithm to simulate the collision of dust monomers having radii between 0.5 and 10 $\mu$m with chondrules whose radii are between 500 and 1000 $\mu$m, in 100-$\mu$m increments. The collisions are driven by Brownian motion and solar nebula turbulence. After each collision, the colliding particles either stick at the point of contact, roll or bounce. We limit accretion of dust monomers (and in some cases, dust aggregates) to a small patch of the chondrule surface, for computational expediency. We model the morphology of the dust rim and the trajectory of the dust particle, which are not considered in most of the previous works. Radial profiles of FGR porosity show that rims formed in weak turbulence are more porous (with a porosity of 60-74\%) than rims formed in stronger turbulence (with a porosity of 52-60\%). The lower end of each range corresponds to large chondrules and the upper end to small chondrules, meaning that the chondrule size also has an impact on FGR porosity. The thickness of FGRs depends linearly on chondrule radius, and the slope of this linear dependency increases with time, and decreases with the turbulence strength. The porosity of FGRs formed by dust aggregates is $\sim 20\%$ on average greater than that of FGRs formed by single monomers. In general, the relatively high porosities that we obtain are consistent with those calculated by previous authors from numerical simulations, as well as with initial FGR porosities inferred from laboratory measurements of rimmed chondrule samples and rimmed chondrule analogs., Comment: 25 pages, 22 figures
