1. Characterizing uncertainties of Earth system modeling with heterogeneous many-core architecture computing

Abstract

The physical and heat limits of semiconductor technology require the adaptation of heterogeneous architectures in supercomputers, such as graphics processing units (GPUs) with many-core accelerators and many-core processors with management and computing cores, to maintain a continuous increase in computing performance. The transition from homogeneous multi-core architectures to heterogeneous many-core architectures can produce non-bit-for-bit reproducibility that leads to numerical perturbations and uncertainties in simulation results, which could blend with errors due to coding bugs. The development of a methodology to identify computational perturbations and secure model correctness is a critically important step in model development on computer systems with new architectures. Thus, we have developed a methodology to characterize the uncertainties in the heterogeneous many-core computing environment. This methodology contains a simple multi-column atmospheric model consisting of typical discontinuous physical parameterizations defined by the selection programming structure, an efficient ensemble-based test approach, and an application to the GPU-based high-performance computing (HPC) and Sunway systems. Statistical distributions from ensembles of the heterogeneous systems show quantitative analyses of computational perturbations and acceptable error tolerances. The methodology aims to enable one to fully distinguish between perturbations caused by platforms and discrepancies caused by software bugs, and it provides encouraging references for verifying the reliability of supercomputing platforms and discussing the sensibility of Earth system modeling to the adaptation of new heterogeneous many-core architectures.

2. The thermodynamic structures of the planetary boundary layer dominated by synoptic circulations and the regular effect on air pollution in Beijing

Abstract

To investigate the impacts of multiscale circulations on the planetary boundary layer (PBL), we have carried out the PBL thermodynamic structure field experiment with a Doppler wind profile lidar, a microwave radiometer, and a ceilometer from January 2018 to December 2019 in Beijing. We found that the direct regulatory effect of synoptic circulation worked through transporting and accumulating pollutants in front of mountains in the daytime, while the indirect effect of multiscale circulations worked through coupling mechanisms in the nighttime. The horizontal coupling of different-direction winds produced a severe pollution convergent zone. The vertical coupling of upper environmental winds and lower regional breezes regulated the mixing and diffusion of pollutants by generating dynamic wind shear and advective temperature inversion. We also found that the dominating synoptic circulations led to great differences in PBL thermodynamic structure and pollution. The cyclonic circulation resulted in a typical multilayer PBL characterized by high vertical shear (600 m), temperature inversion (900 m), and an inhomogeneous stratification. Meanwhile, strong regional breezes pushed the pollution convergent zone to the south of Beijing. The southwesterly circulation resulted in a mono-layer PBL characterized by low vertical shear (400 m) and inversion (200 m). The westerly circulation led to a hybrid-structure PBL, and the advective inversion was generated by the vertical shear of zonal winds. Strong environmental winds of southwesterly and westerly circulations pushed the severe-pollution zone to the front of mountains. There was no distinct PBL structure under the anticyclone circulation. The study systematically revealed the appreciable effects of synoptic and regional circulations on PBL structure and air quality, which enriched the prediction theory of atmospheric pollution in the complex terrain.

Abstract

With semiconductor technology gradually approaching its physical and thermal limits, recent supercomputers have adopted major architectural changes to continue increasing the performance through more power-efficient heterogeneous many-core systems. Examples include Sunway TaihuLight that has four management processing elements (MPEs) and 256 computing processing elements (CPEs) inside one processor and Summit that has two central processing units (CPUs) and six graphics processing units (GPUs) inside one node. Meanwhile, current high-resolution Earth system models that desperately require more computing power generally consist of millions of lines of legacy code developed for traditional homogeneous multicore processors and cannot automatically benefit from the advancement of supercomputer hardware. As a result, refactoring and optimizing the legacy models for new architectures become key challenges along the road of taking advantage of greener and faster supercomputers, providing better support for the global climate research community and contributing to the long-lasting societal task of addressing long-term climate change. This article reports the efforts of a large group in the International Laboratory for High-Resolution Earth System Prediction (iHESP) that was established by the cooperation of Qingdao Pilot National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology (QNLM), Texas A&M University (TAMU), and the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), with the goal of enabling highly efficient simulations of the high-resolution (25 km atmosphere and 10 km ocean) Community Earth System Model (CESM-HR) on Sunway TaihuLight. The refactoring and optimizing efforts have improved the simulation speed of CESM-HR from 1 SYPD (simulation years per day) to 3.4 SYPD (with output disabled) and supported several hundred years of pre-industrial control simulations. With further strategies on deeper refactoring and optimizing for remaining computing hotspots, as well as redesigning architecture-oriented algorithms, we expect an equivalent or even better efficiency to be gained on the new platform than traditional homogeneous CPU platforms. The refactoring and optimizing processes detailed in this paper on the Sunway system should have implications for similar efforts on other heterogeneous many-core systems such as GPU-based high-performance computing (HPC) systems.

4. Effect of whole-grain rice on pellet quality, geese performance, and economic benefits

Abstract

SUMMARY: This study evaluated the effects of whole-grain rice (WGR) on pellet quality, geese performance, and economic benefits. A total of 360 one-day-old healthy male Jiangnan White goslings with similar body weight (BW) were randomly divided into 2 groups with 6 replicates per group and 30 geese per replicate. Pelleted diets were prepared with WGR for the experimental group and crushed rice (CR) for the control group to create the 2 treatments. Dietary rice (unhusked) inclusions were 20% for 1 to 21 d and 40% for 22 to 70 d. The pellets from d 1 to 21 were crumbled. Prepelleted WGR significantly decreased pellet length, hardness and pellet durability index. WGR pellets had significantly higher fine ratio (≤2.8 mm) and starch gelatinization than CR pellets. The different treatments did not affect BW on 21, 42, and 70 d of age or average daily feed intake (ADFI), average daily gain, and feed to gain ratio (F/G) from 1 to 70 d. However, compared with the CR diet, the WGR diet increased ADFI and F/G from 1 to 21 d. At 70 d of age, similar slaughter performance, relative viscera weight, and meat quality of geese were observed, except for a significant increase in the spleen ratio in the WGR treatment compared with the CR treatment. From the observation, pelleting with WGR reduced the cost of feed manufacture by decreasing the electricity use of grinding and had no negative effect on feed cost per/kg weight gain of geese. Even with the decreased pellet quality, we recommend replacing CR in geese diets with WGR from 22 to 70 d of age in view of the geese performance, economic benefits, and electricity savings.

In the new era, it is proposed that China should be transformed from a participant and a cooperator into a designer, an impeller and a leader, continue taking an effect of responsible great power, increase public product supply, perfect a global governance system and contribute to China’s wisdom and China’s schemes during global governance, thus surveying and mapping geographic information takes on great mission. On the one hand, we have to timely grasp global geographic information data resources to provide an important scientific data support for China’s wisdom and China’s schemes. On the other hand, we have to provide surveying and mapping geographic information infrastructure construction and public products for developing countries, support location services within a global territorial scope, and realize the smoothness of talent flow, material flow and information flow between China and countries in the world. Meanwhile, external assistance and international communication and cooperation of surveying and mapping geographic information are also enhanced, and popularization and application of a geographic information technology in underdeveloped countries and regions are promoted.

6. SUPER RESOLUTION RECONSTRUCTION BASED ON ADAPTIVE DETAIL ENHANCEMENT FOR ZY-3 SATELLITE IMAGES

Abstract

Super-resolution reconstruction of sequence remote sensing image is a technology which handles multiple low-resolution satellite remote sensing images with complementary information and obtains one or more high resolution images. The cores of the technology are high precision matching between images and high detail information extraction and fusion. In this paper puts forward a new image super resolution model frame which can adaptive multi-scale enhance the details of reconstructed image. First, the sequence images were decomposed into a detail layer containing the detail information and a smooth layer containing the large scale edge information by bilateral filter. Then, a texture detail enhancement function was constructed to promote the magnitude of the medium and small details. Next, the non-redundant information of the super reconstruction was obtained by differential processing of the detail layer, and the initial super resolution construction result was achieved by interpolating fusion of non-redundant information and the smooth layer. At last, the final reconstruction image was acquired by executing a local optimization model on the initial constructed image. Experiments on ZY-3 satellite images of same phase and different phase show that the proposed method can both improve the information entropy and the image details evaluation standard comparing with the interpolation method, traditional TV algorithm and MAP algorithm, which indicate that our method can obviously highlight image details and contains more ground texture information. A large number of experiment results reveal that the proposed method is robust and universal for different kinds of ZY-3 satellite images.

7. E iso–Ep correlation of gamma-ray bursts: calibration and cosmological applications

Abstract

Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are the most explosive phenomena and can be used to study the expansion of Universe. In this paper, we compile a long GRB sample for the Eiso–Ep correlation from Swift and Fermi observations. The sample contains 221 long GRBs with redshifts from 0.03 to 8.20. From the analysis of data in different redshift intervals, we find no statistically significant evidence for the redshift evolution of this correlation. Then we calibrate the correlation in six subsamples and use the calibrated one to constrain cosmological parameters. Employing a piece-wise approach, we study the redshift evolution of dark energy equation of state (EOS), and find that the EOS tends to be oscillating at low redshift, but consistent with −1 at high redshift. It hints at dynamical dark energy at 2σ confidence level at low redshift.

Abstract

Abstract By analyzing e + e − collision data with an integrated luminosity of 7.9 fb −1 collected with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV, the branching fraction of D + → τ + ν τ is determined as B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ = (9.9 ± 1.1stat ± 0.5syst) × 10 −4. Using the most precise result B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ (D + → μ + ν μ ) = (3.981 ± 0.079stat ± 0.040syst) × 10 −4 [1], we determine R τ/μ = Γ(D + → τ + ν τ )/Γ(D + → μ + ν μ ) = 2.49 ± 0.31, achieving a factor of two improvement in precision compared to the previous BESIII result. This measurement is in agreement with the standard model prediction of lepton flavor universality within one standard deviation.

Abstract

Abstract Based on 7.33 fb −1 of e + e − collision data collected by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider at center-of-mass energies from 4.128 to 4.226 GeV, a search for the Majorana neutrino ν m is conducted in the lepton-number-violating decays of D s + $$ {D}_{\textrm{s}}^{+} $$ → h − h 0 e + e +. Here, h − represents a K − or π − , and h 0 represents a π 0, K S 0 $$ {K}_S^0 $$ or ϕ. No significant signal is observed, and the upper limits of their branching fractions at the 90% confidence level are determined to be B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ ( D s + $$ {D}_{\textrm{s}}^{+} $$ → ϕπ − e + e +) < 6.9 × 10 −5, B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ ( D s + $$ {D}_{\textrm{s}}^{+} $$ → ϕK − e + e +) < 9.9 × 10 −5, B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ ( D s + $$ {D}_{\textrm{s}}^{+} $$ → K S 0 $$ {K}_S^0 $$ π − e + e +) < 1.3 × 10 −5, B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ ( D s + $$ {D}_{\textrm{s}}^{+} $$ → K S 0 $$ {K}_S^0 $$ K − e + e +) < 2.9 × 10 −5, B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ ( D s + $$ {D}_{\textrm{s}}^{+} $$ → π − π 0 e + e +) < 2.9 × 10 −5 and B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ ( D s + $$ {D}_{\textrm{s}}^{+} $$ → K − π 0 e + e +) < 3.4 × 10 −5. The Majorana neutrino is searched for with different mass assumptions within the range [0.20, 0.80] GeV/c 2 in the decay of D s + $$ {D}_{\textrm{s}}^{+} $$ → ϕe + ν m with ν m → π − e +, and the upper limits of the branching fractions at the 90% confidence level are at the level of 10 −5–10 −2, depending on the mass of the Majorana neutrino.

Abstract

Abstract We search for the radiative decays D + → γρ + and D + → γK *+ using 20.3 fb −1 of e + e − annihilation data collected at the center-of-mass energy s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 3.773 GeV by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider. No significant signals are observed, and the upper limits on the branching fractions of D + → γρ + and D + → γK *+ at 90% confidence level are set to be 1.3 × 10 −5 and 1.8 × 10 −5, respectively.

Abstract

We obtain a combinatorial formula related to the shear transformation for semi-invariants of binary forms, which implies the classical characterization of semi-invariants in terms of a differential operator. Then, we present a combinatorial proof of an identity of Hilbert, which leads to a relation of Cayley on semi-invariants. This identity plays a crucial role in the original proof of Sylvester’s theorem on semi-invariants in connection with the Gaussian coefficients. Moreover, we show that the additivity lemma of Pak and Panova which yields the strict unimodality of the Gaussian coefficients for $$n,k \ge 8$$ can be deduced from the ring property of semi-invariants.

Abstract

The current discrepancy between the Hubble constant $H_0$ derived from the local distance ladder and from the cosmic microwave background is one of the most crucial issues in cosmology, as it possibly indicates unknown systematics or new physics. Here we present a novel non-parametric method to estimate Hubble constant as a function of redshift. We establish independent estimates of the evolution of Hubble constant by diagonalizing the covariance matrix. From type Ia supernovae and the observed Hubble parameter data, a decreasing trend of Hubble constant with a significance of 5.6$\sigma$ confidence level is found. At low redshift, its value is dramatically consistent with that measured from the local distance ladder, and it drops to the value measured from the cosmic microwave background at high redshift. Hospital-associated venous thromboembolism (HA-VTE) has become a public health problem that seriously affects the quality of medical care and patient safety. Many countries regarded VTE prevention as a key element of medical quality management, carried out quality improvement work in VTE prevention and achieved remarkable results. In China, there is also unremitting efforts and explorations in the field of VTE prevention and management. The national program for prevention and management of pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis was officially launched. Through a series of measures such as excellent center construction, regional alliance, and strengthening of quality control and informatization, the national program has greatly promoted the construction of VTE prevention and management system in hospitals across the country. To clarify the characteristics of vertical drop jump (VDJ) for screening athletes at high risk of ACL injury by comparing the kinematic, kinetic and electromyographic variables of different VDJ.Thirty male soccer players were recruited to measure parameters of knee kinematics, kinetics, and surface electromyograph during VDJ in four kinds of movements measured (the distance between the take-off feet is 5 cm or 30 cm, and the distance between the landing feet is 5 cm or 30 cm) using the Vicon motion capture system, Kistler3-D dynamometer, and Noraxon surface electromyograph test system.The peak knee abduction moment was significantly greater for landing feet distance of 30 cm compared to landing feet distance of 5 cm, regardless of whether the distance between take-off feet was 5 cm (0.58 vs. 0.44) or 30 cm (0.61 vs. 0.40); regardless of whether the distance between landing feet was 5 cm (22.78 vs. 20.45) or 30 cm (24.32 vs. 21.87), the peak vertical Ground Reaction Force was significantly increased for the take-off feet distance was 5 cm compared to take-off feet of 30 cm.In the test of VDJ, athletes will adopt different landing strategies for different movement instructions, and the VDJ with the distance of 5 cm between the take-off feet and the distance of 30 cm between the landing feet may be the better maneuver to screen for risk of ACL injury.

Abstract

Purpose. Presentation of the results of the implementation of new approaches to monitoring indicators of the ecological state of water in lake ecosystems using the example of the Danube lakes with the use of modern express methods of determining individual ecological parameters and satellite information of the water bodies' water bodies. Methods. Laboratory analysis of determining the concentration of chlorophyll-a according to DSTU 7.1. 4.02-90 "Water. Methodology for spectrophotometric determination of chlorophyll α", field measurements of water transparency with a standard Secchi disc, concentrations of chlorophyll-a, total suspended matter, spectral attenuation index using a portable hyperspectral radiometer WISP-3. Results. In the summer of 2023, 2 expeditions were carried out to the Danube lakes Kahul, Yalpug-Kugurlui, Kytai, Kotlabukh. It was established that the results of observations of water quality indicators (chlorophyll-a concentration, total suspended matter, spectral light attenuation index), obtained with the WISP-3 hyperspectral radiometer, are in good agreement with each other and with the data of laboratory analysis of the measurement of chlorophyll-a concentration and water transparency. The possibility of using SENTINEL 2 MSI satellite images, processed using the C2X-COMPLEX Sentinel Application Platform (SNAP 9.0.0) to obtain operational information on the spatio-temporal variability of chlorophyll-a and the total suspended matter concentration in the Danube lakes was evaluated. It was established that there is a sufficiently good correlation (determination coefficient 0.9 and higher) between the measured and determined values ​​of these indicators from satellite images. According to research in July 2023, it was established that the concentrations of chlorophyll-a in 2023 were higher than at the beginning of the 21st century (in 2001) in all lakes, which is an expected consequence of the replenishment of the lakes from large volumes of Danube water in the first half of 2023 after previous dry years. The greatest increase in concentrations occurred in Lake Kotlabukh. Conclusions. It has been established that the SENTINEL-2 MSI satellite images processed with the C2X-COMPLEX processor can be successfully used for the ecological state monitoring of the Danube lakes, in particular, the operational assessment of the spatio-temporal variability of such water quality indicators as the concentration of chlorophyll-a, total suspended matter and degree water transparency with a spatial resolution of 20-60 m per pixel. The WISP-3 radiometer can be used for operational determination of water quality indicators in the Danube lakes during the environmental monitoring organization with the involvement of satellite information, in particular for the purpose of its verification based on field observation data.

Abstract

Abstract Using 7.33 fb −1 of e + e − collision data samples collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226 GeV, we search for the radiative decay D s + → γρ 770 + $$ {D}_s^{+}\to \gamma \rho {(770)}^{+} $$ for the first time. A hint of D s + → γρ 770 + $$ {D}_s^{+}\to \gamma \rho {(770)}^{+} $$ is observed with a statistical significance of 2.5σ. The branching fraction of D s + → γρ 770 + $$ {D}_s^{+}\to \gamma \rho {(770)}^{+} $$ is measured to be (2.2 ± 0.9stat. ± 0.2syst. ) × 10 −4, corresponding to an upper limit of 6.1 × 10 −4 at the 90% confidence level.

Abstract

Abstract Using e + e − collision data collected by the BESIII detector at BEPCII corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 30 fb −1, we measure Born cross sections and effective form factors for the process e + e − → Ξ 0 Ξ ¯ 0 $$ {e}^{+}{e}^{-}\to {\Xi}^0{\overline{\Xi}}^0 $$ at forty-five center-of-mass energies between 3.51 and 4.95 GeV. The dressed cross section is fitted, assuming a power-law function plus a charmonium(-like) state, i.e., ψ(3770), ψ(4040), ψ(4160), ψ(4230), ψ(4360), ψ(4415) or ψ(4660). No significant charmonium(-like) state decaying into Ξ 0 Ξ ¯ 0 $$ {\Xi}^0{\overline{\Xi}}^0 $$ is observed. Upper limits at the 90% confidence level on the product of the branching fraction and the electronic partial width are provided for each decay. In addition, ratios of the Born cross sections and the effective form factors for e + e − → Ξ 0 Ξ ¯ 0 $$ {e}^{+}{e}^{-}\to {\Xi}^0{\overline{\Xi}}^0 $$ and e + e − → Ξ − Ξ ¯ + $$ {e}^{+}{e}^{-}\to {\Xi}^{-}{\overline{\Xi}}^{+} $$ are also presented to test isospin symmetry and the vector meson dominance model.

Abstract

Abstract The branching fraction of D + → K S 0 π 0 e + ν e $$ {D}^{+}\to {K}_S^0{\pi}^0{e}^{+}{\nu}_e $$ is measured for the first time using 7.93 fb −1 of e + e − annihilation data collected at the center-of-mass energy s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, and is determined to be B D + → K S 0 π 0 e + ν e = 0.881 ± 0.017 stat . ± 0.016 syst . % $$ \mathcal{B}\left({D}^{+}\to {K}_S^0{\pi}^0{e}^{+}{\nu}_e\right)=\left(0.881\pm {0.017}_{\textrm{stat}.}\pm {0.016}_{\textrm{syst}.}\right)\% $$ . Based on an analysis of the D + → K S 0 π 0 e + ν e $$ {D}^{+}\to {K}_S^0{\pi}^0{e}^{+}{\nu}_e $$ decay dynamics, we observe the S-wave and P-wave components with fractions of f S-wave = (6.13 ± 0.27stat. ± 0.30syst. )% and f K ¯ ∗ 892 0 = 93.88 ± 0.27 stat . ± 0.29 syst . % $$ {f}_{{\overline{K}}^{\ast }{(892)}^0}=\left(93.88\pm {0.27}_{\textrm{stat}.}\pm {0.29}_{\textrm{syst}.}\right)\% $$ , respectively. From these results, we obtain the branching fractions B D + → K S 0 π 0 S − wave e + ν e = 5.41 ± 0.35 stat . ± 0.37 syst . × 10 − 4 $$ \mathcal{B}\left({D}^{+}\to {\left({K}_S^0{\pi}^0\right)}_{S-\textrm{wave}}{e}^{+}{\nu}_e\right)=\left(5.41\pm {0.35}_{\textrm{stat}.}\pm {0.37}_{\textrm{syst}.}\right)\times {10}^{-4} $$ and B D + → K ¯ ∗ 892 0 e + ν e = 4.97 ± 0.11 stat . ± 0.12 syst . % $$ \mathcal{B}\left({D}^{+}\to {\overline{K}}^{\ast }{(892)}^0{e}^{+}{\nu}_e\right)=\left(4.97\pm {0.11}_{\textrm{stat}.}\pm {0.12}_{\textrm{syst}.}\right)\% $$ . In addition, the hadronic form-factor ratios of D + → K ¯ ∗ 892 0 e + ν e $$ {D}^{+}\to {\overline{K}}^{\ast }{(892)}^0{e}^{+}{\nu}_e $$ at q 2 = 0, assuming a single-pole dominance parameterization, are determined to be r V = V 0 A 1 0 = 1.43 ± 0.07 stat . ± 0.03 syst . $$ {r}_V=\frac{V(0)}{A_1(0)}=1.43\pm {0.07}_{\textrm{stat}.}\pm {0.03}_{\textrm{syst}.} $$ and r 2 = A 2 0 A 1 0 = 0.72 ± 0.06 stat . ± 0.02 syst . $$ {r}_2=\frac{A_2(0)}{A_1(0)}=0.72\pm {0.06}_{\textrm{stat}.}\pm {0.02}_{\textrm{syst}.} $$ .

Abstract

Abstract Using e + e − annihilation data sets corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.5 fb −1, collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.600 and 4.699 GeV, we report the first measurements of the absolute branching fractions B Λ c + → p K L 0 $$ \mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to p{K}_L^0\right) $$ = (1.67 ± 0.06 ± 0.04)%, B Λ c + → p K L 0 π + π − $$ \mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to p{K}_L^0{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}\right) $$ = (1.69 ± 0.10 ± 0.05)%, and B Λ c + → p K L 0 π 0 $$ \mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to p{K}_L^0{\pi}^0\right) $$ = (2.02 ± 0.13 ± 0.05)%, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. Abstract

Substrate plate heating is one of the methodology followed during the selective laser melting (SLM) process, to reduce the cooling rate of the process, to reduce the internal stresses in the SLM-fabricated material, to reduce the cracking tendency in some alloys. However, employing substrate plate heating with larger samples may introduce anisotropy and inhomogeneity in both microstructure and properties. To study this effect, Al-12Si samples were fabricated using the SLM process. The samples were produced with (473 K and 673 K) and without substrate plate heating. The sample was also subjected to external treatment at 473 K and 673 K to compare the microstructural effects with the substrate plate-heated samples. The microstructural investigation was carried out using optical and scanning electron microscopy and the structural characterization using X-ray diffraction. The mechanical properties of the samples were tested using room temperature tensile test and hardness maps. The results suggest that the samples fabricated using substrate plate heating lead to anisotropy along the length scale, which is not desirable.

Abstract

The design of existing tribometers mainly focuses on normal contact and lubricant conditions and aims to evaluate the effect of the load, speed, and environmental conditions on the rubbing pair properties. The effect of the contact angle and variable speed on the rubbing pair properties is often not considered. In this study, a multidirectional adjustment tribometer is developed to evaluate the tribological behavior of cylinder liner–piston rings under dry sliding or oil lubrication conditions. The dynamic, specimen clamping, measuring, and control systems are redesigned according to the structural characteristics of the SKODA-SAVIN tribometer and special requirements of research on the net texture effect on tribological properties. Using LabVIEW software, a man–machine interface is designed to achieve converter control, data acquisition, and other functions. A fail-safe analysis is performed through reproducibility, comparability, and sensitivity tests. From the experiments, it is proved that the tester can provide more detailed, abundant, and reliable data for the performance testing and development of cylinder liner–piston ring materials.

29. [The relationship between adenovirus infection and severe acute hepatitis of unknown etiology]

Abstract

Adenovirus infection can occur in all regions or countries of the world, with no obvious seasonality, but pandemics mostly occur in winter or early spring. Adenovirus infection is self-limited among immunocompetent host with supportive care, however fatal infection can occur among immunocompromised patients, mainly affecting respiratory, gastrointestinal tract and adjunctiva and very rarely causing hepatitis, cholecystitis, pancreatitis, hemorrhagic cystitis, myocarditis, meningitis or encephalitis. Adenovirus hepatitis mainly occur in malignant tumors or organ transplantation patients, but acute severe hepatitis can occur even in immunocompetent children or adults. On 5 April 2022, WHO was notified of 10 cases of severe acute hepatitis of unknown etiology in children. As of 21 April 2022, at least 169 cases of acute hepatitis of unknown origin have been reported from 12 countries (including 11 WHO European Region countries and the United States). Adenovirus has been detected in at least 74 cases; SARS-CoV-2 was identified in 20 cases of those that were tested. Furthermore, 19 were detected with a SARS-CoV-2 and adenovirus co-infection. At present, the etiology has not been fully elucidated. The leading hypotheses center around adenovirus, and the relationship with SARS-CoV-2 needs to be further ruled out.腺病毒感染在全球各地区均可出现，无明显季节性，但大流行多发生在冬季或早春。腺病毒在免疫功能正常的人中常引起轻度、自限性感染，主要累及呼吸道、消化道、眼结膜等，偶尔可导致肝炎、胆囊炎、胰腺炎、出血性膀胱炎、心肌炎、脑膜炎或脑炎。一般预后良好，但在免疫功能缺陷者，可发生严重或致命的感染。腺病毒肝炎主要见于恶性肿瘤及组织器官移植等处于免疫功能抑制状态的人群，但也有在免疫功能正常的小儿或成人引起急性肝炎的个案报道。2022年4月5日，世界卫生组织收到英国通报10例原因不明的儿童严重急性重症肝炎病例，至4月21日增至169例，遍及12个国家（11个世界卫生组织欧洲区国家及美国），其中74例腺病毒阳性、20例新型冠状病毒阳性，19例新型冠状病毒和腺病毒同时阳性。其病因尚未完全阐明，但病因假说主要围绕腺病毒感染，与新型冠状病毒的关系也需进一步排除。.

Abstract

Background: While just-in-time (JIT) training is associated with time and cost savings, limited evidence directly compares layperson CPR performance using JIT videos to in-person CPR courses. We measured layperson CPR performance using a JIT video compared to an in-person course or no training. Methods: Adult employees at a professional sports stadium were randomized to perform CPR in a simulated scenario a) after completing an AHA HeartSaver® course, b) using a JIT training video, or c) neither (control). CPR performance was assessed by trained evaluators and QCPR-enabled simulators. The primary outcome was the performance of pre-defined critical actions. Participants were blinded to study objectives and trained evaluators used standardized checklists. Results: Of 230 eligible subjects, 221 were included in analysis, without significant differences in group characteristics. Correct CPR performance was low, though significantly higher in the AHA group (AHA: 40%, 95%CI 28–51; JIT: 15%, 95%CI 8–26; control 10%, 95%CI 4–19). Compression fraction was significantly greater in the AHA group (90%, IQR 69–98) compared to JIT (61%, IQR 29–89) or control (65%, IQR 33–93). An AED was requested more frequently in the AHA group (47%) than in the JIT (15%) or control (10%) groups. Conclusions: While overall performance of correct CPR skills was best following a traditional CPR course, laypersons using real-time video training performed as well as those taking an AHA HeartSaver® course on several key measures including time to chest compressions and compression rate.Trial Registration.NCT05983640.

Abstract

Studying the mechanism of binder is important for improving the coating formation process of solid lubricants. Two-component polyurethane (PU), polyvinyl butyral (PVB), and styrene-butadiene styrene (SBS) copolymer were selected as binders for polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) solid lubricant. The influence of solid lubricant coating prepared with different binders on the stamping properties of 6061-T6 aluminum alloy was compared and analyzed using the cupping test. A lubrication model was developed based on the results. Due to the difference in the molecular structure of the binders, the prepared solid lubricants have different characteristics and affect the dispersion of lubricant coating and its performance. When the content of PTFE reaches 15 wt% and the coating thickness is 10 µm, the anodic aluminum alloy sheet with PVB coating has the smallest punch force.

Connective tissue disease (CTD) are closely related to liver abnormality. CTD can affect the liver causing various degrees of liver injury, coexist with other liver diseases, especially autoimmune liver disease (ALD). Medications for CTD can also lead to liver injury or reactivate the hepatitis B virus. CTD patients can also be positive for ALD-related autoantibodies without corresponding manifestation; and vis versa. The diagnosis and differential diagnosis should be made on integrating clinical presentation, laboratory, imaging, and histological studies, not solely relying on autoantibody positivity.结缔组织病（CTD）与肝脏关系密切。CTD可以累及肝脏并导致不同程度的肝损伤，也可以合并其他肝脏疾病尤其是自身免疫性肝脏疾病（ALD）。此外，治疗CTD的药物也可以引起肝脏损伤或激活乙型肝炎病毒。需要注意的是，ALD可出现CTD相关的自身抗体阳性，而无CTD的其他表现；反之亦然。因此，其诊断和鉴别诊断需综合分析患者的临床表现、实验室检查、影像学检查，甚至组织病理学检查，不能仅凭相应的自身抗体阳性就下结论。.

Abstract

As a secondary endocrine organ, the liver is closely related to the endocrine system. Liver involvement is not uncommon in endocrine diseases, such as hyper/hypothyroidism, diabetes, dysfunction of adrenal and gonadal. It can be manifested in a variety of forms, including hepatocyte injury (elevated transaminase), bile duct injury (cholestasis), hepatocyte steatosis, vascular injury and liver tumor. Direct and indirect liver injury caused by abnormal hormone levels and side effects of drugs for the treatment of endocrine diseases are common pathogenesis. In addition, endocrine diseases can be concomitant with liver diseases, such as autoimmune thyroiditis and autoimmune hepatitis. Systemic diseases can also involve the endocrine system and liver at the same time, such as systemic lupus erythematosus and IgG4 related diseases. Liver involvement is often observed in hematological disorders, resulting in liver abnormality, including unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia, monoclonal hyperglobulinemia, portal vein, or hepatic vein thrombosis or portal hypertension, hepatosplenomegaly, or iron accumulation in the liver. Here we summarize the major hematological diseases that often affect the liver: hemolytic anemia, defect in coagulation or anti-coagulation factors, myeloproliferative neoplasm, hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, multiple myeloma, leukemia, and lymphoma. 原发性胆汁性胆管炎（PBC）是一种由自身免疫介导的慢性胆汁淤积性肝病，其发病机制尚未完全阐明。PBC在亚太地区的流行率呈逐年上升趋势，疾病负担日益加重。对此，亚太肝病学会邀请了多位知名肝病学家和方法学家共同制定了《原发性胆汁性胆管炎临床诊疗指南》。PBC常见于中年女性，主要疾病特点为血清学胆汁淤积性指标升高、PBC特异性自身抗体阳性，以及组织学显示非化脓性破坏性胆管炎。熊去氧胆酸13～15 mg·kg(-1)·d(-1)是所有PBC患者的标准一线治疗，而二线治疗药物(苯扎贝特/非诺贝特、奥贝胆酸或布地奈德)可用于治疗对熊去氧胆酸单药应答不佳的患者。取得良好生化应答的PBC患者预后良好，但诊断较晚或应答不佳的患者仍有可能发展为肝硬化、肝衰竭，终末期肝病PBC患者仍需肝移植治疗。.

Abstract

Abstract The processes h c → γP (P = η′, η, π 0) are studied with a sample of (27.12 ± 0.14) × 108 ψ(3686) events collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The decay h c → γη is observed for the first time with the significance of 9.0 σ, and the branching fraction is determined to be (3.77 ± 0.55 ± 0.13 ± 0.26) × 10 −4, while B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ (h c → γη′) is measured to be (1.40 ± 0.11 ± 0.04 ± 0.10) × 10 −3, where the first uncertainties are statistical, the second systematic, and the third from the branching fraction of ψ(3686) → π 0 h c . The combination of these results allows for a precise determination of R h c = B h c → γη B h c → γ η ′ , $$ {R}_{h_c}=\frac{\mathcal{B}\left({h}_c\to {\pi}^0\gamma \eta \right)}{\mathcal{B}\left({h}_c\to {\pi}^0\gamma {\eta}^{\prime}\right)}, $$ which is calculated to be (27.0 ± 4.4 ± 1.0)%. The results are valuable for gaining a deeper understanding of η − η′ mixing, and its manifestation within quantum chromodynamics. No significant signal is found for the decay h c → γπ 0, and an upper limit is placed on its branching fraction of B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ (h c → γπ 0) < 5.0 × 10 −5, at the 90% confidence level.

Abstract

Abstract Using e + e − collision data collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider at center-of-mass energies between 3.510 and 4.914 GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 25 fb −1, we measure the Born cross sections for the process e + e − → K − Ξ ¯ + Λ / Σ 0 $$ {e}^{+}{e}^{-}\to {K}^{-}{\overline{\Xi}}^{+}\Lambda /{\Sigma}^0 $$ at thirty-five energy points with a partial-reconstruction strategy. By fitting the dressed cross sections of e + e − → K − Ξ ¯ + Λ / Σ 0 $$ {e}^{+}{e}^{-}\to {K}^{-}{\overline{\Xi}}^{+}\Lambda /{\Sigma}^0 $$ , evidence for ψ 4160 → K − Ξ ¯ + Λ $$ \psi (4160)\to {K}^{-}{\overline{\Xi}}^{+}\Lambda $$ is found for the first time with a significance of 4.4σ, including systematic uncertainties. No evidence for other possible resonances is found. In addition, the products of electronic partial width and branching fraction for all assumed resonances decaying into K − Ξ ¯ + Λ / Σ 0 $$ {K}^{-}{\overline{\Xi}}^{+}\Lambda /{\Sigma}^0 $$ are determined.

Abstract

Abstract With a sample of (10087 ± 44) × 106 J/ψ events accumulated with the BESIII detector, we analyze the decays η′ → π + π − l + l − (l = e, μ) via the process J/ψ → γη′. The branching fractions are measured to be B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ (η′ → π + π − e + e − ) = (2.45 ± 0.02(stat.) ± 0.08(syst.)) × 10 −3 and B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ (η′ → π + π − μ + μ − ) = (2.16 ± 0.12(stat.) ± 0.06(syst.)) × 10 −5, and the ratio is B η ′ → π + π − e + e − B η ′ → π + π − μ + μ − = 113.4 ± 0.9 stat . ± 3.7 syst . $$ \frac{\mathcal{B}\left({\eta}^{\prime}\to {\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}{e}^{+}{e}^{-}\right)}{\mathcal{B}\left({\eta}^{\prime}\to {\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}{\mu}^{+}{\mu}^{-}\right)}=113.4\pm 0.9\left(\textrm{stat}.\right)\pm 3.7\left(\textrm{syst}.\right) $$ . In addition, by combining the η′ → π + π − e + e − and η′ → π + π − μ + μ − decays, the slope parameter of the electromagnetic transition form factor is measured to be b η′ = 1.30 ± 0.19 (GeV/c 2) −2, which is consistent with previous measurements from BESIII and theoretical predictions from the VMD model. The asymmetry in the angle between the π + π − and l + l − decay planes, which has the potential to reveal the CP-violation originating from an unconventional electric dipole transition, is also investigated. The asymmetry parameters are determined to be A CP η ′ → π + π − e + e − = − 0.21 ± 0.73 stat . ± 0.01 syst . % $$ {\mathcal{A}}_{CP}\left({\eta}^{\prime}\to {\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}{e}^{+}{e}^{-}\right)=\left(-0.21\pm 0.73\left(\textrm{stat}.\right)\pm 0.01\left(\textrm{syst}.\right)\right)\% $$ and A CP η ′ → π + π − μ + μ − = 0.62 ± 4.71 stat . ± 0.08 syst . % $$ {\mathcal{A}}_{CP}\left({\eta}^{\prime}\to {\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}{\mu}^{+}{\mu}^{-}\right)=\left(0.62\pm 4.71\left(\textrm{stat}.\right)\pm 0.08\left(\textrm{syst}.\right)\right)\% $$ , implying that no evidence of CP-violation is observed at the present statistics. Finally, an axion-like particle is searched for via the decay η′ → π + π − a, a → e + e − , and upper limits of the branching fractions are presented for the mass assumptions of the axion-like particle in the range of 0 − 500 MeV/c 2.

Abstract

Background The prognosis for patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) remains unfavorable despite advances in treatment. Fibrinogen (FIB) is an independent risk factor for mortality and cardiovascular events in general population. However, the relationship between FIB and long-term mortality among CAD patients undergoing PCI is less investigated, especially in individuals concomitated with diabetes mellitus (DM) and prediabetes (Pre-DM). Methods 6140 patients with CAD undergoing PCI were consecutively enrolled in our study and subsequently divided into three groups according to FIB levels (FIB-L, FIB-M, FIB-H). These patients were further grouped by glycemic metabolism state [normoglycemia (NG), Pre-DM, DM]. The primary endpoint was all-cause mortality. The secondary endpoint was cardiac mortality. Results FIB was positively associated with hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) and fasting blood glucose (FBG) both in CAD patients with and without DM. During a median follow-up time of 5.1 years, elevated FIB was significantly associated with long-term mortality from all-cause (adjusted HR: 1.86; 95% CI: 1.28–2.69; P=0.001) and cardiac specific (adjusted HR: 1.82; 95% CI: 1.15–2.89; P=0.011). Similarly, patients with DM but not Pre-DM had increased risk of all-cause and cardiac mortality (all P Conclusion FIB was strongly associated with long-term all-cause and cardiac mortality among CAD patients undergoing PCI, especially in persons concomitated with DM and Pre-DM, indicating FIB test may help identify high-risk individuals in this specific patient population. Abstract

Background In euthyroid patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), it is still unclear whether thyroxin deiodination level can predict the recurrence of cardiovascular events (CVEs). Using free triiodothyronine to free thyroxine (FT3/FT4) ratio, a marker of peripheral thyroxin deiodination, we aim to investigate its association with recurrent long-term adverse events in this population. Methods 3549 euthyroid patients with prior CVEs history undergoing PCI were consecutively enrolled in our study and subsequently divided into three FT3/FT4 ratio tertiles (T12.75, n=1181). The primary endpoint was major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular event (MACCE), a composite of all-cause death, myocardial infarction, stroke and revascularization. The secondary endpoints were all-cause death and cardiac death. Results The median follow-up time was 5 years. The incidence of all-cause death, cardiac death and MACCE were significantly higher among patients in the lowest FT3/FT4 tertile (P Conclusions In euthyroid patients undergoing PCI, FT3/FT4 ratio, a surrogate marker of peripheral thyroxin deiodination, demonstrates a strong association with long-term recurrent cardiovascular events. Routine assessment of FT3/FT4 ratio might be a simple and effective tool for risk stratification in this specific patient population. Abstract

The high-entropy alloy coatings reinforced with nano oxides were synthesized by the atmospheric plasma spraying (APS). The crystal structure, microstructure, surface morphology, hardness and wear resistance properties of the CoCrFeNiAl and CoCrFeNiMo high-entropy alloy coatings are investigated. For CoCrFeNiAl high entropy coating (HEC) not only has high hardness (573 ± 19 Hv0.1) but also has good wear resistance [The coefficients of friction (COF) is 0.49 ± 0.04]. The transition of the wear mechanism obviously appears between the two HECs. The influences of the structure, composition and hardness on the tribological behavior of high-entropy alloy coatings were discussed in details.
