Abstract

The real-time and robust fall detection is one of the key components of elderly people care and monitoring systems. Depth sensors, as they became more available, occupy an increasing place in event recognition systems. Some of them can directly produce a skeletal description of the human figure for compact representation of a person’s posture. Skeleton description makes the output of source video or detailed information about the depth outside the system unnecessary and raises the privacy of the entire system. Based on a comparative study of different RGB-D cameras, the most promising model for further development was chosen - Microsoft Kinect v2. The TST Fall Detection Dataset v2 is used here as a base for experiments. The proposed algorithm is based on the skeleton features encoding on the sequence of neighboring frames and support vector machine classifier. A version of a cumulative sum method is applied for combining the individual decisions on the consecutive frames. It is offered to use the one-class classifier for detection of low-quality skeletons. The 0.958 accuracy of our fall detection procedure was obtained in the cross-validation procedure based on the removal of records of a particular person from the database (Leave-one-Person-out).

The article discusses a mathematical model for predicting the occurrence and the course of development of ischemic lesions of the lower extremities, diagnosing the disease stages, and choosing rational prevention and treatment schedules based on the use of hybrid fuzzy mathematical models. The mathematical models suggested for this purpose use knowledge bases of intellectual systems for decision support in vascular surgery and angiology.

Abstract

A procedure for diabatization of quantum-chemical data is proposed that allows one to surmount the problem of -shaped peaks of nonadiabatic matrix elements $$ $$ by passing to a hybrid diabatic representation of a system of coupled channel equations of nuclear dynamics with the use of model nonadiabatic matrix elements that approach initially specified matrix elements. Results of the application of this method within the framework of the Landau–Zener model are presented for the example of the CaH collision system.

The available quantum calculations of inelastic cross sections were analyzed for processes in collisions Mg + H and Mg+ + H–. The cross sections with large values were obtained with high accuracy. These processes are of particular interest for astrophysics.

Abstract

International audience; We report full quantum scattering calculations of inelastic cross sections and rate coefficients for Mg in collision with H atoms. Transitions until the Mg(3s3d) 3D level were considered, as well as mutual neutralization and ion-pair production. These calculations are based on new ab initio potentials and nonadiabatic couplings for the nine and five lowest electronic states of MgH. The collision energy range is from threshold up to 10 eV. The main mechanisms underlying the scattering processes are discussed. An extension of these calculations is performed by means of a multichannel model approach. Rate coefficients are thus obtained for all processes between the 12 lowest atomic states of Mg in collisions with H, plus the ionic channel. Those data permit to model spectral lines in stellar atmospheres. Their impact on statistical equilibrium of Mg populations through the non-LTE departure coefficients is investigated for the Sun and the HD122563 metal-poor star.

Abstract

Quantum calculations of cross sections for the inelastic processes in Mg + H collisions are improved. It is shown that the largest cross section among the endothermic processes with the value of approximately 80 A2 corresponds to the process of the ion-pair formation: Mg(3s4s1 S)+H → Mg+ + H−. The mechanism of the process is based on nonadiabatic transitions between the MgH(2Σ+) molecular states, which provide the main mechanism for inelastic processes in Mg + H collisions. On the other hand, nonadiabatic transitions between MgH(2II) states affect some cross sections rather significantly. For example, transitions between the MgH(2II) states increase the cross section for the excitation process Mg(3s3p 1P)+H → Mg(3s3d 1D)+H almost by an order of magnitude as compared to the cross section obtained within the MgH(2Σ+) symmetry.

Abstract

We report full quantum scattering calculations for low-energy near-threshold inelastic cross sections in Mg + H and Mg+ + H- collisions. The calculations include all transitions between the eight lowest adiabatic MgH((2)Sigma(+)) molecular states, with the uppermost of those diabatically extended to the ionic molecular state in the asymptotic region. This allows us to treat the excitation processes between the seven lowest atomic states of magnesium in collisions with hydrogen atoms, as well as the ion-pair production and the mutual neutralization processes. The collision energy range is from threshold up to 10 eV. These results are important for astrophysical modeling of spectra in stellar atmospheres. The processes in question are carefully examined and several process mechanisms are found. Some mechanisms are determined by interactions between ionic and covalent configurations at relatively large internuclear distances, while others are based on short-range nonadiabatic regions due to interactions between covalent configurations.
