COVID-19 pandemic can cause irreparable damage to the involved society. This study aimed to provide a summary of the up-to-dated clinical display, diagnostics, molecular and genetic implications for COVID-19 infected patients. In this review, 73 research articles published before 25 March 2020 were analyzed to better understand the clinical characteristics of patients and to introduce the available serological, hematology and molecular diagnostic methods. Apart from articles extracted from PubMed and Google Scholar, WHO (https://www.who. int/), NHC (National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China (http://www.nhc.gov. cn/), NICE (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence, https://www.nice.org.uk/), CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, https://www.cdc.gov/), and National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (http://www. satcm.gov.cn/) were also accessed to search for eligible studies. Papers published between January 1, 2020, and 25 March 2020 were searched in English and the terms "2019-nCoV, Covid-19, Clinical Characteristics OR manifestation, method of detection, COVID-19 Genome and molecular test" were used. As the pandemic continues to evolve, there have been reports about the possibility of asymptomatic transmission of this newly emerged pneumonia virus. We highlighted the role of HLA haplotype in virus infection as HLA typing will provide susceptibility information for personalized prevention, diagnosis, and treatment in future studies. All the data in this article will assist researchers and clinicians to develop their clinical views regarding infected patients and to emphasize the origin of SARS-CoV-2 for diagnostics. Simulation and observational studies have identified the importance of intersection geometries and vehicle speeds in collisions. However, the causal mechanisms of such collisions in low-speed areas and for different collision types remain unclear. This observational study investigates the complex relationships between geometries, speeds, visibilities, and road traffic collisions in the context of low-speed urban areas.Data were collected from 120 three-arm priority intersections in Portsmouth, UK. In 2007, Portsmouth became the first city in the UK to adopt a 20mph speed limit on all residential streets. The city has also adopted the UK's Manual for Streets (MfS) as the design standard for all new priority intersections in low-speed residential areas.Piecewise structural equation models (pSEM) were developed to represent the causal mechanisms that relate to geometries, speeds, speed limits and collisions. Findings indicate the role of combinations of approach lane width, corner radii, speed limit, and type of collision. The interaction of wider approach lanes on the minor arm and larger radii of turns for left-turning vehicles (left-hand driving perspective) was associated with higher numbers of road traffic collisions for right-turning vehicles. It is posited here that this is due to the orientation of the left-turning vehicle blocking the left visibility of the right-turning vehicle. These results give weight to the introduction of the 20mph speed limit zone in Portsmouth and some of the changes brought about by MfS. Since the emergence of COVID-19, travel restrictions due to the pandemic have influenced several activities, in particular the mobility patterns of individuals. Our main goal is to draw the attention of scholars and policy makers to a specific segment of the population, namely (1) older people, (2) persons with disabilities (PwDs), (3) females, and (4) low-income population that are more vulnerable for travel behaviour change due to crisis such as the COVID-19 pandemic. This article systematically reviews the studies that have explored the implications of COVID-19 for the mobility and activities of individuals pre-, during, and post-pandemic using the PRISMA method. It is found that there are a few studies regarding the travel and mobility needs and challenges of older people and PwDs, and there is no direct study concerning female and low-income individuals while such crisis exist. Questions such as "What are the adverse impacts of restrictions on their travel behaviour?", "How can they travel safely to work, shopping, and medical centres?", "Which transportation modes can be more effective for them?", and "What are the government and policy makers' role in providing accessible and affordable mobility services in the presence of such crisis?" are without relevant answers in the literature.

Existing public transport (PT) planning methods use a trip-based approach, rather than a user-based approach, leading to neglecting equity. In other words, the impacts of regular users-i.e., users with higher trip rates-are overrepresented during analysis and modelling because of higher trip rates. In contrast to the existing studies, this study aims to show the actual demand characteristic and users' share are different in daily and monthly data. For this, 1-month of smart card data from the Kocaeli, Turkey, was evaluated by means of specific variables, such as boarding frequency, cardholder types, and the number of users, as well as a breakdown of the number of days traveled by each user set. Results show that the proportion of regular PT users to total users in 1 workday, is higher than the monthly proportion of regular PT users to total users. Accordingly, users who have 16-21 days boarding frequency are 16% of the total users, and yet they have been overrepresented by 39% in the 1-day analysis. Moreover, users who have 1-6 days boarding frequency, have a share of 66% in the 1-month dataset and are underrepresented with a share of 22% in the 1-day analysis. Results indicated that the daily travel data without information related to the day-to-day frequency of trips and PT use caused incorrect estimation of real PT demand. Moreover, user-based analyzing approach over a month prepares the more realistic basis for transportation planning, design, and prioritization of transport investments.

Months after the outbreak of a new flu-like disease in China, the entire world is now in a state of caution. The subsequent less-anticipated propagation of the novel coronavirus disease, formally known as COVID-19, not only made it to headlines by an overwhelmingly high transmission rate and fatality reports, but also raised an alarm for the medical community all around the globe. Since the causative agent, SARS-CoV-2, is a recently discovered species, there is no specific medicine for downright treatment of the infection. This has led to an unprecedented societal fear of the newly born disease, adding a psychological aspect to the physical manifestation of the virus. Photoacoustic Computed Tomography (PACT) is a major configuration of photoacoustic imaging, a hybrid noninvasive modality for both functional and molecular imaging. PACT has rapidly gained importance in the field of biomedical imaging due to superior performance as compared to conventional optical imaging counterparts. However, the overall cost of developing a PACT system is one of the challenges towards clinical translation of this novel technique. The cost of a typical commercial PACT system originates from optical source, ultrasound detector, and data acquisition unit. With growing applications of photoacoustic imaging, there is a tremendous demand towards reducing its cost. In this review article, we have discussed various approaches to reduce the overall cost of a PACT system, and provided a cost estimation to build a low-cost PACT system.

We investigate the mid-IR laser beam characteristics from an acetylene-filled hollow-core optical fiber gas laser (HOFGLAS) system. The laser exhibits near-diffraction limited beam quality in the 3 μm region with M 2 = 1.15 ± 0.02 measured at high pulse energy, and the highest mid-IR pulse energy from a HOFGLAS system of 1.4 μJ is reported. Furthermore, the effects of output saturation with pump pulse energy are reduced through the use of longer fibers with low loss. Finally, the slope efficiency is shown to be nearly independent of gas pressure over a wide range, which is encouraging for further output power increase.

Background: Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a chronic condition that affects a large proportion of population. The aim of our study was to determine what percentages of patients with persistent heartburn on acid suppressive therapy have evidence of reflux disease while off acid suppressive therapy., Methods: In a prospective study 48 patients with refractory heartburn from Taleghani Hospital were enrolled who had been on a double dose of proton pump inhibitor (PPI) for 8 weeks without improvement. Because of low index of suspicion for GERD as an etiology, all the patients underwent 24h pH-metry while off PPI. The variables of pH-metry such as the fraction time of pH <4 were evaluated by comparing to normal volunteers., Results: The mean "number of acid refluxes" was 49.98 in upright position and 6.29 in supine position. The mean "longest acid reflux" duration was 2.98 minutes in upright and 3.13 minutes in supine position. The total time fraction of pH <4 was 2.97% in upright position, 1.2 % in supine position and 2.74% in postprandial state. The mean DeMeester score was 10.06 (SD=10.48). However, the difference in the total fraction of time with pH <4 was not significant., Conclusion: Our study showed that most of the patients with refractory heartburn did not have acid reflux. Patients with refractory heartburn often do not have evidence of reflux disease on pH monitoring, thus evaluating these patients should be performed while on acid suppressive therapy (using impedance-pH monitoring) in order to clarify the relationship between symptoms and acid and non-acid reflux.

Background/aims: Determination of optimal administered sedatives during endoscopy is vital and necessary for the minimization of their side effects. This study was designed to see the effect of sedation on endoscopy induced arterial oxygen desaturation and determination of sedatives safety during gastrointestinal endoscopy., Methodology: In this controlled clinical trial, 90 consecutive patients scheduled for diagnostic upper gastrointestinal endoscopy were categorized into 2 groups (45 in each group). The patients in the first group were sedated with midazolam 0.1 mg/kg, propofol 1 mg/kg and fentanyl 1 microg/kg intravenously, while the patients in the second group received saline as a placebo. In both groups, blood pressure, heart rate, and arterial oxygen saturation were measured before and one minute after endoscopy, and compared., Results: No significant differences were found in arterial O2 saturation (p = 0.142) and heart rate (p = 0.154) between the two groups, one minute after endoscopy. Both systolic and diastolic blood pressures were higher in non-sedated group (p < 0.001)., Conclusion: Concomitant administration of midazolam, propofol, and fentanyl do not cause arterial desaturation, however, it can lead to blood pressure changes one minute after the beginning of endoscopy.
