- Abstract
Monotherpenes play an important role attributed to the therapeutic effect of compounds of plant origin. Due to this it has increased use of the computational tools as a means to assist in the evaluation in the early stages in the planning of a new drug, analyzing in advance the in vitro and in vivo tests its pharmacological properties, bioavailability and toxicity. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the monoterpene Borneol its pharmacological, toxicological and bioavailability effect under an in silico study model. The free software PASS Online®, Admetsar and Molinspiration were used in the study for in silico activities of monotrene borneol, in order to evaluate the pharmacological, toxicological and bioavailability activities by means of predictions. The results showed that the Borneol molecule has 10 possible pharmacological activities related to Dentistry, such as antiinflammatory, antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral (herpes); presenting low risk of theoretical oral toxicity and being carcinogenic; besides respecting the five rules of lipinski, thus having good oral bioavailability. The in silico study of monoterpene Borneol demonstrated that this compound had several possible biological effects on the human body as well as good oral bioavailability and a low theoretical risk profile of presenting oral cytotoxicity.
