In order to be able to identify technological trends in the field of defense and security, different scenarios are carried out, analyzes over certain time horizons, in-depth analyzes of ongoing research, but also estimates that are based on the opinions of experts in the field. In this endeavor, I had as the objective of the scientific research to obtain an overview of the trends of emerging and disruptive technologies relevant in the fields of defense and security, considering the current regional context. The effort was focused on the assessment of emerging and disruptive technologies, based on research and analysis of recent available literature in the field. I have come up with clarifications on defining the emerging, disruptive technologies and their convergence, the trends in the context of hybrid warfare, as well as the most promising and relevant technologies that can be applied on a large scale and are going to influence the fields of defense and security. The article briefly presents some arguments regarding the need to ensure the security of communication and information systems at the NATO level. In this context, a series of threats, vulnerabilities and risks to communication and information systems are mentioned, as well as preventive measures and indicators on the adversary’s actions. In order to ensure the security of communication and information systems, there is a need for securing the “deployment environment” of the information, which is the electronic protection and security of the cyber space. For this scientific approach, we have chosen the type of descriptive research with the aim of documenting and understanding the importance of the security of communication and information systems at the level of the North Atlantic Alliance, through the analysis of specialized literature, for the issue covered by the article. We consider it opportune to carry out this work because communication and information systems in support of military operations involve specific security measures in cyber operations and electronic warfare, in the field of radio spectrum management, on own communication and information equipment/ networks etc. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The potential offered by space is enormous, and Romania should appear on the map displaying space services and capabilities at national, NATO and EU level. The opportunities that arise from the implementation of a national space telecommunications program are in the governmental, civilian, commercial and military domanin.
