The reaction of closo-B10H10 2− with PtCl2(PPh3)2 in the presence of MeCOSH afforded the title platinaborane nido-7,7-(PPh3)2-7-PtB10H11-11-OC(O)Me (1), which has been characterized by IR and NMR spectroscopy, MS, elemental analysis, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. In contrast to the known products having exo-polyhedral Pt-S-C-O-B ring(s) from the same reaction with Ph- COSH, compound 1 has a B-acetoxy group on the open PtB4 face of the nido-PtB10 cluster. The structure of 1 features both intramolecular/intermolecular C-H· · ·O hydrogen bonds and intramolecular C-H· · ·H-B dihydrogen bonds, which link the molecules into a 1-D chain structure.

In order to improve the steam cracking feeds, several model compounds including normal paraffins, iso-paraffins, cyclanes and aromatics were selected as the feeds of steam cracking process and the olefin yields were investigated. In the typical reaction conditions, the normal paraffins in the naphtha contribute most to the ethylene in the products; the iso-paraffins are the main sources of the propylene; the cyclanes mainly produce the butadiene and the aromatics can hardly produce olefins. According to this, the adsorption process and solvent extraction process were adopted to separate the group compositions in naphtha properly to optimize the cracking feeds. The n-paraffins in naphtha were gathered through adsorption process using 5A molecular sieves. The ethylene yield improved by 13% using the desorption oil rich in n-paraffins as the cracking feed. The aromatics and the cyclanes were extracted from the naphtha. Compared with the naphtha, the ethylene and propylene yields of the extraction raffinate oil were 3.0 and 1.5% higher respectively.

The hydrothermal reaction of cadmium nitrate hydrate (Cd(NO3)2·4H2O) with p-terphenyl-type 4,4′-(1,4-phenylene)bis(2,6-dimethyl-3,5-pyridinedicarboxylic acid) (H4L), and phenanthroline (phen) in the presence of triethylamine leads to a three-dimensional supramolecular aggregate {[Cd3(phen)3(HL)2(H2O)2]·4.25H2O}n (1). In 1, the T-type second building units construct independent one-dimensional (1-D) metal−organic nanotubes (MONTs) with 63 topology containing distinct axially asymmetric subunits [R-Cd3(HL) and S-Cd3(HL)]. The adjacent RR-Cd5(HL)2 supersubunits form a hydrophilic intertube chiral channel (I), and the SS-Cd5(HL)2 supersubunits generate another type of hydrophilic intertube chiral channel (II). A novel 6-hydroxy chromone-3-carbaldehyde benzoyl hydrazone ligand ( L ) and its Ln(III) complexes, [Ln = La( 1 ) and Sm( 2 )], have been prepared and characterized. The crystal and molecular structures of complexes 1 and 2 were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Antioxidative activity tests in vitro showed that L and its complexes have significant antioxidative activity against hydroxyl free radicals from the Fenton reaction and also oxygen free radicals, and that the effect of the La(III) complex 1 is stronger than that of mannitol and the other compounds. The compounds were tested against tumor cell lines including HL-60 and A-549. The data shows that the suppression rate of complexes 1 and 2 against the tested tumor cells are superior to the free ligand ( L ). The interactions of complexes 1 and 2 , and L , with calf thymus DNA were investigated by UV–visible (UV–vis), fluorescence, denaturation experiments and viscosity measurements. Experimental results indicated that complexes 1 and 2 , and L can bind to DNA via the intercalation mode, and that the binding affinity of complex 1 is higher than that of complex 2 and of free ligand ( L ). The intrinsic binding constants of complexes 1 and 2 , and L were (7.62 ± 0.56) × 10 6 , (3.70 ± 0.47) × 10 6 and (2.41 ± 0.46) × 10 6 M −1 , respectively.

Mononuclear complexes of Cu(II), Ni(II), and Mn(II) with a new Schiff base ligand derived from indoline-2,3-dione and 2-hydroxybenzohydrazide, [Cu(II)(L)2], [Ni(II)(L)2], and [Mn(II)L · (AcO) · 2C2H5OH] [HL=(Z)-2-hydroxy-N′-(2-oxoindolin-3-ylidene)benzohydrazide], have been prepared. The complexes have been structurally characterized by X-ray crystallography. Among the three complexes, the Cu(II) complex had the novel highest antitumor activity.

A series of organotin (IV) compounds of the type [R3SnL]2, R is Me (1), Bu (2), [R2SnL]2, R is Ph (3), Me (4), Bu (5), L is pyruvic acid thiophene-2-carboxylic hydrazone, and R2SnL, R is Me (6), Bu (7), Ph (8), L is salicylaldehyde thiophene-2-carboxylic hydrazone have been synthesized in 1:1 molar ratio. All compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and 119Sn NMR spectra. The crystal structure of compounds 1, 3, 4, 8 have been determined by X-ray single crystal diffraction analyses, study found that the compounds 1 and 3 are rendered one-dimensional chain structure and the tin atoms are five-coordinated in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. The compound 4 has a dimeric structure and the central tin atom is rendered seven-coordinate in a distorted pentagonal-bipyramid configuration. While the compound 8 is a monomer in which the tin atom adopts five-coordinated in distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry.

A 2,2'-[2,3-naphthylenebis(oxy)]-bis(N,N-diisopropyl(acetamide)) ligand (L) and its Gd(III) complex have been prepared and characterized. The crystal and molecular structure of the complex was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The interactions of complex with calf thymus DNA were investigated by UV-vis, fluorescence and viscosity measurements. Experimental results indicated that the complex can bind to DNA by intercalation modes. Its intrinsic binding constant is 1.03 × 10 6 M -1 .

Eight diorganotin(IV) complexes of salicylaldehyde isonicotinylhydrazone (H2SalN) R2Sn(SalN) R = t-Bu 1, Ph 2, PhCH2 3, o-ClC6H4CH2 4, p-ClC6H4CH2 5, m-ClC6H4CH2 6, o-FPhCH2 7, p-FC6H4CH2 8 were prepared. All complexes 1–8 have been characterized by elemental, IR, 1H, 13C and 119Sn NMR analyses. The crystal structures of H2SalN and complex 1 were determined by X-ray crystallography diffraction analyses. Studies show that H2SalN is a tridentate planar ligand. For complex 1, the tin atom lies in this plane and forms a five- and six-membered chelate ring with the tridentate ligand. A comparison of the IR spectra of the ligand with those of the corresponding complexes, reveals that the disappearance of the bands assigned to carbonyl unambiguously confirms that the ligand coordinate with the tin in the enol form.

Eight diorganotin esters of Schiff base ligands formulated as [R 2 SnLY] 2 , where L 1 is 4-NC 5 H 4 CON 2 C(CH 3 ) CO 2 with Y = H 2 O, R = Ph ( 1 ), PhCH 2 ( 2 ), m -ClC 6 H 4 CH 2 ( 3 ), and L 2 is 2-HOC 6 H 4 CON 2 C(CH 3 ) CO 2 with Y = CH 3 OH, R = PhCH 2 ( 4 ), o -ClC 6 H 4 CH 2 ( 5 ), m -ClC 6 H 4 CH 2 ( 6 ), o -FC 6 H 4 CH 2 ( 7 ), p -FC 6 H 4 CH 2 ( 8 ) have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1 H and 119 Sn NMR spectra. The crystal structures of compounds 1 , 2 and 4 have been determined by X-ray single crystal diffraction. Their structures show that the tin atoms of three compounds are all rendered seven-coordinated in distorted pentagonal bipyramid geometries with a planar SnO 4 N unit and two apical aryl carbon atoms. A comparison of the IR spectra of the ligands with those of the corresponding compounds, reveals that the disappearance of the bands assigned to carbonyl unambiguously conforms that the ligands coordinate with tin in the enol form.

Two new complexes, [Zn(oapy)(OAc)(μ2-OH)] (1) and [ZnL(μ2-SO4)]4·6H2O (2), were prepared and structurally characterized, where oapy is o-aminopyridine, OAc is acetate, and L is 2, 5, 8-triaza-1, 9-di(2-fluorozenzyl)nonane. The X-ray structure analysis reveals that 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic system with space group P21/c, with a = 8.849(9), b = 5.391(5), c = 19.733(19)A, β = 98.467(13)°, V = 931.2(16)A3, and Z = 4. 1 is a μ2-OH bridged 1D chain complex along b. The Zn2+ ion is four-coordinated by one N atom from an oapy, and three O atoms from two hydroxyl groups and an acetate ion, leading to a distorted tetrahedral geometry of Zn2+. 2 crystallizes in space group P1¯ with a = 15.86(3), b = 17.05(3), c = 19.85(4)A, α = 74.60(4), β = 66.93(3), γ = 65.33(4)°, V = 4456(16)A3, and Z = 2. Compound 2 is a 1D chain-like complex linked by μ2-(O, O′)-SO4 bridges. Each simplest unit of the complex is a tetranuclear zinc(II) unit. In each unit the four non-equivalent zinc atoms, are similarly five-coordinated by three N atoms from L and two O atoms from two sulfate bridges. The coordination geometry of two zinc atoms is trigonal bipyramidal, the other two are in square pyramidal coordination. 1 has obvious catalytic activity to hydrolysis of 4-nitrobenyl acetate, but 2 does not. Two coordination polymers [Ag(dach)]n(NO3)n (1) and [Ag(teda)(F3CSO3)]n (2) (dach = 1, 2-diaminocyclohexane, teda = 1, 4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane) have been synthesized and characterized by X-ray single crystal analysis and cytotoxicity investigation. Compound 1 has a one-dimensional chain-like structure which is extended by ligand unsupported Ag···Ag interactions, hydrophobic interaction and hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional supramolecular array while compound 2 shows three-dimensional diamond-like framework constructed by coordination bonds. The high cytotoxities of these two compounds imply that they are potential candidates for antitumor agents. Verbindung 1 hat eine kettenartige Struktur, die durch ligandenfreie Ag···Ag-Wechselwirkungen, hydrophobe Wechselwirkung und Wasserstoffbruckenbindungen zu dreidimensionaler, supramolekularer Anordnung fuhrt, wahrend 2 ein dreidimensionales, diamantstrukturartiges Gerust mit koordinativen Bindungen hat. Die hohe Zytotoxizitat dieser zwei Verbindungen weist sie als mogliche Antitumorreagenzien aus.

Reaction of MP(Ph)SiMe 2 Bu t (M=Li, K) with an equivalent of PhCN afforded the 1-aza-3-phosphaallyllithium and -potassium complexes [ SiMe 2 Bu t }(L)] 2 ( 1 , M=Li, L=THF; 2 , M=K, L=Et 2 O), respectively. After exposing 2 in vacuo at room temperature, the solvent-free complex [ SiMe 2 Bu t }] ( 3 ) was obtained. Treatment of 1 with SnCl 2 in a 2:1 ratio furnished the homoleptic tin(II) complex [ SiMe 2 Bu t } 2 ] ( 4 ). Compound 1 reacted with an equimolar amount of ClSnN(SiMe 3 ) 2 to give [P(Ph)C(Ph)NSiMe 2 Bu t ] 2 ( 5 ) via ligand coupling. Reaction of 3 with PhCN produced [K{P(Ph)C(Ph)NC(Ph)NSiMe 2 Bu t }] ( 6 ) by addition of the nitrogen atom to PhCN followed by a 1,3-N→N′ migration of the SiMe 2 Bu t group. Structures of compounds 1 , 2 , 4 and 5 have been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. The complexes 1 and 2 are dimeric and 4 is both monomeric, while 5 is the product of a ligand coupling with formation of new PP bond.

The Large sky Area Multi-Object Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST) General Survey is a spectroscopic survey that will eventually cover approximately half of the celestial sphere and collect 10 million spectra of stars, galaxies and QSOs. Objects both in the pilot survey and the first year general survey are included in the LAMOST First Data Release (DR1). The pilot survey started in October 2011 and ended in June 2012, and the data have been released to the public as the LAMOST Pilot Data Release in August 2012. The general survey started in September 2012, and completed its first year of operation in June 2013. The LAMOST DR1 includes a total of 1202 plates containing 2,955,336 spectra, of which 1,790,879 spectra have observed signal-to-noise S/N >10. All data with S/N>2 are formally released as LAMOST DR1 under the LAMOST data policy. This data release contains a total of 2,204,696 spectra, of which 1,944,329 are stellar spectra, 12,082 are galaxy spectra and 5,017 are quasars. The DR1 includes not only spectra, but also three stellar catalogues with measured parameters: AFGK-type stars with high quality spectra (1,061,918 entries), A-type stars (100,073 entries), and M stars (121,522 entries). This paper introduces the survey design, the observational and instrumental limitations, data reduction and analysis, and some caveats. A rare six-connected 3D nanowater framework constructed from turbine-type (H 2 O) 18 clusters has been observed in a Mn(III) Schiff base complex [Mn(vanen)(Cl)(H 2 O)] • 2H 2 O (1, H 2 vanen = N,N' -bis(3-methoxysalicylidene)-1,2-diaminoethane). And each (H 2 O) 18 cluster includes a chair configuration cyclic hexamer and six dangling dimer water units. The nanochannels of three-dimensional hydrogen-bonded water network are filled by the dimer of [Mn(vanen)(Cl)(H 2 O)] 2 molecules. Interestingly, the crystal stacking of metal complexes composed of [Mn(vanen)(Cl)(H20)]12 shows a head-to-head turbinelike motif. Moreover, compound 1 displays strong photoluminescence in the solid state at room temperature.
