Recently, pre-trained deep learning (DL) models have been employed to tackle and enhance the performance on many tasks such as skin cancer detection instead of training models from scratch. However, the existing systems are unable to attain substantial levels of accuracy. Therefore, we propose, in this paper, a robust skin cancer detection framework for to improve the accuracy by extracting and learning relevant image representations using a MobileNetV3 architecture. Thereafter, the extracted features are used as input to a modified Hunger Games Search (HGS) based on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Dynamic-Opposite Learning (DOLHGS). This modification is used as a novel feature selection to alloacte the most relevant feature to maximize the model's performance. For evaluation of the efficiency of the developed DOLHGS, the ISIC-2016 dataset and the PH2 dataset were employed, including two and three categories, respectively. The proposed model has accuracy 88.19% on the ISIC-2016 dataset and 96.43% on PH2. Based on the experimental results, the proposed approach showed more accurate and efficient performance in skin cancer detection than other well-known and popular algorithms in terms of classification accuracy and optimized features. Intrusion detection systems (IDS) play a crucial role in securing networks and identifying malicious activity. This is a critical problem in cyber security. In recent years, metaheuristic optimization algorithms and deep learning techniques have been applied to IDS to improve their accuracy and efficiency. Generally, optimization algorithms can be used to boost the performance of IDS models. Deep learning methods, such as convolutional neural networks, have also been used to improve the ability of IDS to detect and classify intrusions. In this paper, we propose a new IDS model based on the combination of deep learning and optimization methods. First, a feature extraction method based on CNNs is developed. Then, a new feature selection method is used based on a modified version of Growth Optimizer (GO), called MGO. We use the Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA) to boost the search process of the GO. Extensive evaluation and comparisons have been conducted to assess the quality of the suggested method using public datasets of cloud and Internet of Things (IoT) environments. As day-to-day-generated data become massive in the 6G-enabled Internet of medical things (IoMT), the process of medical diagnosis becomes critical in the healthcare system. This paper presents a framework incorporated into the 6G-enabled IoMT to improve prediction accuracy and provide a real-time medical diagnosis. The proposed framework integrates deep learning and optimization techniques to render accurate and precise results. The medical computed tomography images are preprocessed and fed into an efficient neural network designed for learning image representations and converting each image to a feature vector. The extracted features from each image are then learned using a MobileNetV3 architecture. Furthermore, we enhanced the performance of the arithmetic optimization algorithm (AOA) based on the hunger games search (HGS). In the developed method, named AOAHG, the operators of the HGS are applied to enhance the AOA's exploitation ability while allocating the feasible region. The developed AOAG selects the most relevant features and ensures the overall model classification improvement. To assess the validity of our framework, we conducted evaluation experiments on four datasets, including ISIC-2016 and PH2 for skin cancer detection, white blood cell (WBC) detection, and optical coherence tomography (OCT) classification, using different evaluation metrics. The framework showed remarkable performance compared to currently existing methods in the literature. In addition, the developed AOAHG provided results better than other FS approaches according to the obtained accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score as performance measures. The Social Internet of Things (SIoT) ecosystem tends to process and analyze extensive data generated by users from both social networks and Internet of Things (IoT) systems and derives knowledge and diagnoses from all connected objects. To overcome many challenges in the SIoT system, such as big data management, analysis, and reporting, robust algorithms should be proposed and validated. Thus, in this work, we propose a framework to tackle the high dimensionality of transferred data over the SIoT system and improve the performance of several applications with different data types. The proposed framework comprises two parts: Transformer CNN (TransCNN), a deep learning model for feature extraction, and the Chaos Game Optimization (CGO) algorithm for feature selection. To validate the framework's effectiveness, several datasets with different data types were selected, and various experiments were conducted compared to other methods. The results showed that the efficiency of the developed method is better than other models according to the performance metrics in the SIoT environment. In addition, the average of the developed method based on the accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, number of selected features, and fitness value is 88.30%, 87.20%, 92.94%, 44.375, and 0.1082, respectively. Many Chinese cities have severe air pollution due to the rapid development of the Chinese economy, urbanization, and industrialization. Particulate matter (PM2.5) is a significant component of air pollutants. It is related to cardiopulmonary and other systemic diseases because of its ability to penetrate the human respiratory system. Forecasting air PM2.5 is a critical task that helps governments and local authorities to make necessary plans and actions. Thus, in the current study, we develop a new deep learning approach to forecast the concentration of PM2.5 in three major cities in China, Beijing, Shijiazhuang, and Wuhan. The developed model is based on the Informer architecture, where the attention distillation block is improved with a residual block-inspired structure from efficient networks, and we named the model ResInformer. We use air quality index datasets that cover 98 months collected from 1 January 2014 to 17 February 2022 to train and test the model. We also test the proposed model for 20 months. The evaluation outcomes show that the ResInformer and ResInformerStack perform better than the original model and yield better forecasting results. The exponential spread of news and posts related to the COVID-19 pandemic on social media platforms led to the emergence of the disinformation phenomenon. The phenomenon of spreading fake information and news creates significant concern for the public health and safety of the population. In this paper, we propose a disinformation detection framework based on multi-task learning (MTL) and meta-heuristic algorithms in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The developed framework uses an MTL and a pre-trained transformer-based model to learn and extract contextual feature representations from Arabic social media posts. The extracted contextual representations are fed to an alternative feature selection technique which depends on modified version of the Fire Hawk Optimizer. The proposed framework, which aims to improve the disinformation detection rate, was evaluated on several datasets of Arabic social media posts. The experimental results show that the proposed framework can achieve accuracy of 59%. It obtained, at best, precision, recall, and F-measure of 53%, 71%, and 53%, respectively, on all datasets; and it outperformed the other algorithms in all measures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) has dramatically benefited medical professionals that patients and physicians can access from all regions. Although the automatic detection and prediction of diseases such as melanoma and leukemia is still being investigated and studied in IoMT, existing approaches are not able to achieve a high degree of efficiency. Thus, with a new approach that provides better results, patients would access the adequate treatments earlier and the death rate would be reduced. Therefore, this paper introduces an IoMT proposal for medical images' classification that may be used anywhere, i.e., it is an ubiquitous approach. It was designed in two stages: first, we employ a transfer learning (TL)-based method for feature extraction, which is carried out using MobileNetV3; second, we use the chaos game optimization (CGO) for feature selection, with the aim of excluding unnecessary features and improving the performance, which is key in IoMT. Our methodology was evaluated using ISIC-2016, PH2, and Blood-Cell datasets. The experimental results indicated that the proposed approach obtained an accuracy of 88.39% on ISIC-2016, 97.52% on PH2, and 88.79% on Blood-cell datsets. This study proposes a novel framework to improve intrusion detection system (IDS) performance based on the data collected from the Internet of things (IoT) environments. The developed framework relies on deep learning and metaheuristic (MH) optimization algorithms to perform feature extraction and selection. A simple yet effective convolutional neural network (CNN) is implemented as the core feature extractor of the framework to learn better and more relevant representations of the input data in a lower-dimensional space. A new feature selection mechanism is proposed based on a recently developed MH method, called Reptile Search Algorithm (RSA), which is inspired by the hunting behaviors of the crocodiles. The RSA boosts the IDS system performance by selecting only the most important features (an optimal subset of features) from the extracted features using the CNN model. Several datasets, including KDDCup-99, NSL-KDD, CICIDS-2017, and BoT-IoT, were used to assess the IDS system performance. The recent advances in artificial intelligence modern approaches can play vital roles in the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT). Automatic diagnosis is one of the most important topics in the IoMT, including cancer diagnosis. Breast cancer is one of the top causes of death among women. Accurate diagnosis and early detection of breast cancer can improve the survival rate of patients. Deep learning models have demonstrated outstanding potential in accurately detecting and diagnosing breast cancer. This paper proposes a novel technology for breast cancer detection using CrossViT as the deep learning model and an enhanced version of the Growth Optimizer algorithm (MGO) as the feature selection method. CrossVit is a hybrid deep learning model that combines the strengths of both convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and transformers. The MGO is a meta-heuristic algorithm that selects the most relevant features from a large pool of features to enhance the performance of the model. The developed approach was evaluated on three publicly available breast cancer datasets and achieved competitive performance compared to other state-of-the-art methods. The results show that the combination of CrossViT and the MGO can effectively identify the most informative features for breast cancer detection, potentially assisting clinicians in making accurate diagnoses and improving patient outcomes. The MGO algorithm improves accuracy by approximately 1.59% on INbreast, 5.00% on MIAS, and 0.79% on MiniDDSM compared to other methods on each respective dataset. Deep neural networks (DNNs) have evolved as a beneficial machine learning method that has been successfully used in various applications. Currently, DNN is a superior technique of extracting information from massive sets of data in a self-organized method. DNNs have different structures and parameters, which are usually produced for particular applications. Nevertheless, the training procedures of DNNs can be protracted depending on the given application and the size of the training set. Further, determining the most precise and practical structure of a deep learning method in a reasonable time is a possible problem related to this procedure. Meta-heuristics techniques, such as swarm intelligence (SI) and evolutionary computing (EC), represent optimization frames with specific theories and objective functions. These methods are adjustable and have been demonstrated their effectiveness in various applications; hence, they can optimize the DNNs models. This paper presents a comprehensive survey of the recent optimization methods (i.e., SI and EC) employed to enhance DNNs performance on various tasks. The rapid proliferation of news and posts across social media platforms has spawned a concerning wave of misinformation. Disseminating false information and news significantly threatens public health and safety. To address this critical issue, we present an innovative disinformation detection framework, leveraging the power of multi-task learning (MTL) and meta-heuristic techniques. Our framework harnesses the potential of an MTL approach and a state-of-the-art pre-trained Transformer-based model, enabling the extraction of comprehensive contextual features from Arabic social media posts. These contextual are input to an advanced feature selection (FS) model utilizing a modified Nutcracker Optimization Algorithm. Through extensive evaluation of diverse datasets of Arabic social media posts, our proposed framework achieves remarkable results. Notably, our framework attains an accuracy rate of 87% and 69% for binary and multi-classification, respectively. In addition, the developed method outperforms all compared algorithms. Our findings demonstrate the potency of our disinformation detection framework, serving as a robust tool in the battle against misinformation spread. In recent years, convolutional neural network (CNN) has attracted considerable attention since its impressive performance in various applications, such as Arabic sentence classification. However, building a powerful CNN for Arabic sentiment classification can be highly complicated and time consuming. In this paper, we address this problem by combining differential evolution (DE) algorithm and CNN, where DE algorithm is used to automatically search the optimal configuration including CNN architecture and network parameters. In order to achieve the goal, five CNN parameters are searched by the DE algorithm which include convolution filter sizes that control the CNN architecture, number of filters per convolution filter size (NFCS), number of neurons in fully connected (FC) layer, initialization mode, and dropout rate. In addition, the effect of the mutation and crossover operators in DE algorithm were investigated. The performance of the proposed framework DE-CNN is evaluated on five Arabic sentiment datasets. Nowadays, people use smart devices everywhere and for different applications such as healthcare. The Internet of Healthcare Things (IoHT) generates enormous amounts of data daily, which need exploitation and analysis to help healthcare professionals make decisions and provide a fast diagnosis. Human Activity Recognition (HAR) has received more attention due to its importance in elderly care, lifestyle improvement, and IoT systems. This paper presents a novel HAR system based on optimizing two algorithms: convolutional neural network (CNN) and the recently proposed optimization algorithm, Arithmetic Optimization Algorithm (AOA), to boost the HAR performance with fewer resources. The proposed CNN is applied to learn and extract features from input data where a modified AOA algorithm, called Binary AOA (BAOA), is used to select the most optimal features. Finally, the support vector machine (SVM) is adopted to classify the selected feature based on different activities. We evaluate the proposed HAR model with three different public datasets, UCI-HAR, WISDM-HAR, and KU-HAR datasets. Moreover, we compare the feature selection method, BAOA, to various optimization algorithms using several evaluation measures, and we found that BAOA recorded the best performance. Furthermore, we compare the proposed model to several existing HAR methods. This paper presents an alternative event detection model based on the integration between the DistilBERT and a new meta-heuristic technique named the Hunger Games Search (HGS). The DistilBERT aims to extract features from the text dataset, while a binary version of HGS is developed as a feature selection (FS) approach, which aims to remove the irrelevant features from those extracted. To assess the developed model, a set of experiments are conducted using a set of real-world datasets. In addition, we compared the binary HGS with a set of well-known FS algorithms, as well as the state-of-the-art event detection models. Developing cyber security is very necessary and has attracted considerable attention from academy and industry organizations worldwide. We design a feature extraction mechanism depending on the conventional neural networks (CNN). After that, we present an alternative feature selection (FS) approach using the recently developed SI algorithm, Aquila optimizer (AQU). Moreover, to assess the quality of the developed IDS approach, four well-known public datasets, CIC2017, NSL-KDD, BoT-IoT, and KDD99, were used. Currently, the world is still facing a COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) classified as a highly infectious disease due to its rapid spreading. The shortage of X-ray machines may lead to critical situations and delay the diagnosis results, increasing the number of deaths. Therefore, the exploitation of deep learning (DL) and optimization algorithms can be advantageous in early diagnosis and COVID-19 detection. In this paper, we propose a framework for COVID-19 images classification using hybridization of DL and swarm-based algorithms. The MobileNetV3 is used as a backbone feature extraction to learn and extract relevant image representations as a DL model. As a swarm-based algorithm, the Aquila Optimizer (Aqu) is used as a feature selector to reduce the dimensionality of the image representations and improve the classification accuracy using only the most essential selected features. To validate the proposed framework, two datasets with X-ray and CT COVID-19 images are used. The obtained results from the experiments show a good performance of the proposed framework in terms of classification accuracy and dimensionality reduction during the feature extraction and selection phases. Recently, the 6G-enabled Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) has played a key role in the development of functional health systems due to the massive data generated daily from the hospitals. Therefore, the automatic detection and prediction of future risks such as pneumonia and retinal diseases are still under research and study. However, traditional approaches did not yield good results for accurate diagnosis. In this paper, a robust 6G-enabled IoMT framework is proposed for medical image classification with an ensemble learning (EL)-based model. EL is achieved using MobileNet and DenseNet architecture as a feature extraction backbone. In addition, the developed framework uses a modified honey badger algorithm (HBA) based on Levy flight (LFHBA) as a feature selection method that aims to remove the irrelevant features from those extracted features using the EL model. For evaluation of the performance of the proposed framework, the chest X-ray (CXR) dataset and the optical coherence tomography (OCT) dataset were employed. The accuracy of our technique was 87.10% on the CXR dataset and 94.32% on OCT dataset—both very good results. Terrorist attacks are the biggest challenges to humanity around the world, which needs intensive efforts from researchers. Detecting the regularity of patterns and behaviors of terrorism is crucial to global counter-terrorism strategies. Machine learning techniques have shown significant effectiveness in the endeavor against terrorism. Nowadays, by using huge detailed terrorism data, researchers can develop tools that may contribute to dealing with terrorism. In this paper, we aim to create a framework for terrorism attacks predicting the use of global terrorism database (GTD). The research approach assumes that textual features may affect the enhancement of the classifier’s ability to predict the types of terrorist attacks. To prove this hypothesis; text features are extracted and represented using different text representation techniques such as Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF), Bag of Words (Bow), and Word Embedding (W2vec). The Internet of Things (IoT) enabled technology will be adopted to develop smart cities, electronic commerce, electronic learning, electronic health, and other aspects of online activities. IoT enabled pervasive and wide connectivity to many objects and services. Therefore, it is easy to target IoT and cloud malware infection. Thus, cybersecurity is an essential problem to build robust IoT systems. This paper leverages the recent developments of the swarm intelligence (SI) algorithms combined with the advances of deep neural networks to build an efficient intrusion detection system for IoT-cloud based environments. First, deep neural networks are used to obtain optimal features from the IoT IDS data. Then, an efficient feature selection technique is proposed based on a recently developed SI optimizer called Capuchin Search Algorithm (CapSA). Some credible third parties collect and share mobile sensor data with users to enhance scientific innovation. However, since the sensor data contains sensitive attributes, it may lead to an unexpected privacy leak. Despite privacy filtering, differential privacy, and inferential privacy techniques that attempt to address this problem, the preservation of greater privacy results in a considerable loss of utility and vice versa. In this research, we tackle the privacy-preserving for sensor-based activity recognition data-sharing issue via balancing between (1) data quality perspective and (2) privacy-preserving perspective. Two novel private generative adversarial approaches, namely PGAN1 and PGAN2, are proposed, whereby we generate filtered data to be shared before revealing the raw data to a data analyst. PGAN1 and PGAN2 differ in the privacy mechanism of raw data filtering. Therefore, PGAN1 relies on a transformation algorithm, while PGAN2 relies on a synthesis algorithm. We theoretically characterize the problem and formulate new objective functions, each one as an analogy of minimax formulation among more than two networks. We evaluate the utility performance by different classifiers while the privacy is checked by overcoming the attacks. Human activity recognition (HAR) plays a vital role in different real-world applications such as in tracking elderly activities for elderly care services, in assisted living environments, smart home interactions, healthcare monitoring applications, electronic games, and various human–computer interaction (HCI) applications, and is an essential part of the Internet of Healthcare Things (IoHT) services. However, the high dimensionality of the collected data from these applications has the largest influence on the quality of the HAR model. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an efficient HAR system using a lightweight feature selection (FS) method to enhance the HAR classification process. The developed FS method, called GBOGWO, aims to improve the performance of the Gradient-based optimizer (GBO) algorithm by using the operators of the grey wolf optimizer (GWO). First, GBOGWO is used to select the appropriate features; then, the support vector machine (SVM) is used to classify the activities. Hyperspectral (HS) images are adjacent band images that are generally used in remote-sensing applications. They have numerous spatial and spectral information bands that are extremely useful for material detection in various fields. However, their high dimensionality is a big challenge that affects their overall performance. A new data normalization method was developed to enhance the variations and data distribution using the output of principal component analysis (PCA) and quantile transformation, called QPCA. This paper also proposes a novel HS images classification framework using the meta-learner technique to train multi-class and multi-size datasets by concatenating and training the hybrid and multi-size kernel of convolutional neural networks (CNN). The high-level model works to combine the output of the lower-level models and train them with the new input data, called meta-learner hybrid models (MLHM). The proposed MLHM framework with our external normalization (QPCA) improves the accuracy and outperforms other approaches using three well-known benchmark datasets. This article studies convolutional neural networks for Tigrinya (also referred to as Tigrigna), which is a family of Semitic languages spoken in Eritrea and northern Ethiopia. Tigrinya is a "low-resource" language and is notable in terms of the absence of comprehensive and free data. Furthermore, it is characterized as one of the most semantically and syntactically complex languages in the world, similar to other Semitic languages. To the best of our knowledge, no previous research has been conducted on the state-of-the-art embedding technique that is shown here. We investigate which word representation methods perform better in terms of learning for single-label text classification problems, which are common when dealing with morphologically rich and complex languages. Manually annotated datasets are used here, where one contains 30,000 Tigrinya news texts from various sources with six categories of "sport", "agriculture", "politics", "religion", "education", and "health" and one unannotated corpus that contains more than six million words. In this paper, we explore pretrained word embedding architectures using various convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to predict class labels. We construct a CNN with a continuous bag-of-words (CBOW) method, a CNN with a skip-gram method, and CNNs with and without word2vec and FastText to evaluate Tigrinya news articles. We also compare the CNN results with traditional machine learning models and evaluate the results in terms of the accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 scoring techniques. The CBOW CNN with word2vec achieves the best accuracy with 93.41%, significantly improving the accuracy for Tigrinya news classification. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
