Abstract The traffic flow prediction is the key to alleviate traffic congestion, yet very challenging due to the complex influence factors. Currently, the most of deep learning models are designed to dig out the intricate dependency in continuous standardized sequences, which are dependent to high requirements for data continuity and regularized distribution. However, the data discontinuity and irregular distribution are inevitable in the real-world practical application, then we need find a way to utilize the powerful effect of the multi-feature fusion rather than continuous relation in standardized sequences. To this end, we conduct the prediction based on the multiple traffic features reflecting the complex influence factors. Firstly, we propose the ATFEM, an adaptive traffic features extraction mechanism, which can select important influence factors to construct joint temporal features matrix and global spatial features matrix according to the traffic condition. In this way, the feature’s representation ability can be improved. Secondly, we propose the MFSTN, a multi-feature spatial–temporal fusion network, which include the temporal transformer encoder and graph attention network to obtain the latent representation of spatial–temporal features. Especially, we design the scaled spatial–temporal fusion module, which can automatically learn optimal fusion weights, further adapt to inconsistent spatial–temporal dimensions. Finally, the multi-layer perceptron gets the mapping function between these comprehensive features and traffic flow. This method helps to improve the interpretability of the prediction. Experimental results show that the proposed model outperforms a variety of baselines, and it can accurately predict the traffic flow when the data missing rate is high.

A thorough understanding of the reactor core thermal hydraulic behavior is essential for the design and safety analysis of Sodium-cooled Fast Reactors (SFR). Due to the application of hexagonal subassembly, the core thermal hydraulic behavior is significantly affected by the flow field within the subassemblies, the inter-wrapper region and the hot pool. Analysis of the core thermal hydraulic behavior requires a model coupling the three regions mentioned above, which has been identified as one of the thermal hydraulic challenges in SFR. In the present study, a 3D model that covers the three regions was developed for the core of the China Experimental Fast Reactor (CEFR) with the Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) code, Fluent. The inter-wrapper region and the hot pool were modeled in detail, while the subassemblies were modeled with a special porous medium model. The core thermal hydraulics behavior under steady state was studied, more specifically, information for the flow field distribution at the core outlet, the inter-wrapper flow and the duct wall temperature distribution was obtained. Under steady state, liquid sodium in the inter-wrapper region is supplied by the inner region of the hot pool. And it enters the inter-wrapper region from the core outer region and returns back to the hot pool inner region from the core central region. The inter-wrapper flow is cooled by non-fuel subassemblies and heated up by fuel subassemblies. For non-fuel subassembly, the ratio of the total heat transfer rate between the inter-wrapper flow and the subassemblies to the heat generated within subassemblies could reaches 96%; for fuel subassemblies, the maximum ratio of the total heat transfer rate between the inter-wrapper flow and the subassemblies to the heat generated within subassemblies is 2.45%. Significant temperature gradients have been observed on the duct wall, with maximum values of 156.69 K/m in the vertical direction and 2,196.00 K/m in the circumferential direction. The largest temperature gradient appears on the duct of subassemblies adjacent to the transition region of fuel subassemblies and non-fuel subassemblies.

This paper investigates the influence of SiC dosage on the high-temperature mechanical properties (compressive strength, flexural strength, and bond flexural strength) of geopolymer mortar. The findings reveal that appropriate amount of SiC was found to improve the high-temperature mechanical properties of geopolymer mortar. Compared to the specimen without SiC, the addition of 3 wt. % SiC to the geopolymer mortar resulted in a noteworthy 14.59% increase in compressive strength at 300 °C, along with respective augmentations of 24.72% and 22.54% in flexural strength and bond flexural strength at 200 °C. Utilizing the experimental data as a foundation, a thermodynamic mathematical model was formulated, linking the strength and temperature parameters of SiC-modified geopolymer mortar. Furthermore, FTIR (Raman and Fourier transform infrared) analysis indicated that the polycondensation reaction of geopolymer mortar treated at 300 °C was promoted, and the products of displacement reaction increased, which provides a plausible explanation for the observed enhancement in compressive strength at 300 °C. Consequently, it is found that the incorporation of SiC can enhance the high-temperature mechanical properties of geopolymer mortar.

Abstract Background Loss of AZGP1 expression is a biomarker associated with progression to castration resistance, development of metastasis, and poor disease-specific survival in prostate cancer. However, high expression of AZGP1 cells in prostate cancer has been reported to increase proliferation and invasion. The exact role of AZGP1 in prostate cancer progression remains elusive. Method AZGP1 knockout and overexpressing prostate cancer cells were generated using a lentiviral system. The effects of AZGP1 under- or over-expression in prostate cancer cells were evaluated by in vitro cell proliferation, migration, and invasion assays. Heterozygous AZGP1± mice were obtained from European Mouse Mutant Archive (EMMA), and prostate tissues from homozygous knockout male mice were collected at 2, 6 and 10 months for histological analysis. In vivo xenografts generated from AZGP1 under- or over-expressing prostate cancer cells were used to determine the role of AZGP1 in prostate cancer tumor growth, and subsequent proteomics analysis was conducted to elucidate the mechanisms of AZGP1 action in prostate cancer progression. AZGP1 expression and microvessel density were measured in human prostate cancer samples on a tissue microarray of 215 independent patient samples. Result Neither the knockout nor overexpression of AZGP1 exhibited significant effects on prostate cancer cell proliferation, clonal growth, migration, or invasion in vitro. The prostates of AZGP1−/− mice initially appeared to have grossly normal morphology; however, we observed fibrosis in the periglandular stroma and higher blood vessel density in the mouse prostate by 6 months. In PC3 and DU145 mouse xenografts, over-expression of AZGP1 did not affect tumor growth. Instead, these tumors displayed decreased microvessel density compared to xenografts derived from PC3 and DU145 control cells, suggesting that AZGP1 functions to inhibit angiogenesis in prostate cancer. Proteomics profiling further indicated that, compared to control xenografts, AZGP1 overexpressing PC3 xenografts are enriched with angiogenesis pathway proteins, including YWHAZ, EPHA2, SERPINE1, and PDCD6, MMP9, GPX1, HSPB1, COL18A1, RNH1, and ANXA1. In vitro functional studies show that AZGP1 inhibits human umbilical vein endothelial cell proliferation, migration, tubular formation and branching. Additionally, tumor microarray analysis shows that AZGP1 expression is negatively correlated with blood vessel density in human prostate cancer tissues. Conclusion AZGP1 is a negative regulator of angiogenesis, such that loss of AZGP1 promotes angiogenesis in prostate cancer. AZGP1 likely exerts heterotypical effects on cells in the tumor microenvironment, such as stromal and endothelial cells. This study sheds light on the anti-angiogenic characteristics of AZGP1 in the prostate and provides a rationale to target AZGP1 to inhibit prostate cancer progression.

At present, the manufacturer collaborates on selling and recycling through an online platform. We explores the mode selection of closed-loop supply chain (CLSC) under the reselling or agency modes in forward SC and under the delegated-recycling mode or agency-recycling mode in reverse SC considering data intelligence level with an online platform. The results show that both the retail price of intelligent connected products (ICPs) and the demand of new ICPs are positively correlated with data intelligence level of new ICPs. The recycling price of old ICPs is negatively relevant to data intelligence level of old ICPs. However, the recycling quantity of old ICPs is positively related to data intelligence level of old ICPs. Increasing data intelligence level of new ICPs is benefit to enterprises. Moreover, it is very unconventional that the demand of new ICPs is increasing when the retail price of new ICPs increases. In addition, the manufacturer can choose the optimal selling mode and recycling mode by setting the selling commission rate and the recycling commission rate.

Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR)-visual-inertial odometry can provide accurate poses for the localization of unmanned vehicles working in unknown environments in the absence of Global Positioning System (GPS). Since the quality of poses estimated by different sensors in environments with different structures fluctuates greatly, existing pose fusion models cannot guarantee stable performance of pose estimations in these environments, which brings great challenges to the pose fusion of LiDAR-visual-inertial odometry. This article proposes a novel environmental structure perception-based adaptive pose fusion method, which achieves the online optimization of the parameters in the pose fusion model of LiDAR-visual-inertial odometry by analyzing the complexity of environmental structure. Firstly, a novel quantitative perception method of environmental structure is proposed, and the visual bag-of-words vector and point cloud feature histogram are constructed to calculate the quantitative indicators describing the structural complexity of visual image and LiDAR point cloud of the surroundings, which can be used to predict and evaluate the pose quality from LiDAR/visual measurement models of poses. Then, based on the complexity of the environmental structure, two pose fusion strategies for two mainstream pose fusion models (Kalman filter and factor graph optimization) are proposed, which can adaptively fuse the poses estimated by LiDAR and vision online. Two state-of-the-art LiDAR-visual-inertial odometry systems are selected to deploy the proposed environmental structure perception-based adaptive pose fusion method, and extensive experiments are carried out on both open-source data sets and self-gathered data sets. The experimental results show that environmental structure perception-based adaptive pose fusion method can effectively perceive the changes in environmental structure and execute adaptive pose fusion, improving the accuracy of pose estimation of LiDAR-visual-inertial odometry in environments with changing structures.

E-governance is capable of driving the transition of government from an administrative power allocation of public resources to a citizen-service-oriented governance model. However, during this transformation, various governmental bodies often face the challenge of "data silos" caused by factors such as cross-regional, cross-business, and cross-departmental operations. Without altering the existing information platforms, transparent access technology serves as a key solution for data access within egovernance systems. It enables convenient access to information resources stored in different mediums and formats, facilitating the sharing and consolidation of information and data within and between governmental departments, thereby addressing the issue of "data silos" and enhancing the comprehensive service capabilities of e-governance. This paper firstly provides an overview of the concept, levels, characteristics, and application scenarios of transparent access to government big data. Secondly, it conducts a comprehensive comparative analysis of transparent access technologies in the context of cloud computing and big data. Lastly, based on the requirements of various transparent access technologies and the application of transparent access to government big data, this paper proposes a visionary framework for transparent access to government big data based on cross-domain semantics and channel coupling. This framework includes modules for cross-domain semantic interoperability, coupling of heterogeneous information channels based on knowledge graph, and tracing of multi-source heterogeneous data, aiming to provide innovative solutions for achieving transparent access to government big data.

BackgroundObservational studies have reported a possible association between metabolic syndrome (MetS) and thyroid autoimmunity. Nevertheless, the relationship between thyroid autoimmunity and MetS remains unclear. The objective of this research was to assess the causal impact of MetS on thyroid autoimmunity through the utilization of Mendelian randomization (MR) methodology.MethodsWe performed bidirectional MR to elucidate the causal relationship between MetS and their components and thyroid autoimmunity (positivity of TPOAb). Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of MetS and its components were obtained from the publicly available genetic variation summary database. The Thyroidomics Consortium conducted a genome-wide association analysis, which provided summary-level data pertaining to thyroid autoimmunity. The study included several statistical methods, including the inverse variance weighting method (IVW), weighted median, simple mode, weight mode, and MR-Egger methods, to assess the causal link. In addition, to ensure the stability of the results, a sensitivity analysis was conducted.ResultsIVW showed that MetS reduced the risk of developing thyroid autoimmunity (OR = 0.717, 95% CI = 0.584 - 0.88, P = 1.48E−03). The investigation into the causative association between components of MetS and thyroid autoimmune revealed a statistically significant link between triglycerides levels and the presence of thyroid autoimmunity (IVW analysis, OR = 0.603, 95%CI = 0.45 -0.807, P = 6.82E−04). The reverse analysis did not reveal any causal relationship between thyroid autoimmunity and MetS, including its five components.ConclusionsWe have presented new genetic evidence demonstrating that MetS and its triglyceride components may serve as potential protective factors against thyroid autoimmunity.

The safety injection (SI) system might be put into use, and the coolant at high temperature will mix with the supcooled water under Loss Of Coolant Accident (LOCA). The thermo-hydraulic phenomena associated with the thermal mixing of coolant and supcooled water will directly affect the judgment on core reflooding. China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN) independently developed and designed a thermal hydraulic system code named LOCUST, and the verification of thermal mixing models in LOCUST is necessary. This paper will introduce the thermal mixing tests at the T-junction based on Emergency Core Cooling System in Xi'an Jiaotong University (ECCS-XJTU) experimental facility, which were mainly conducted for the mixing between subcooled water injected from the SI pipe with a range of 25–125 kg/h in mass flow and the pure steam in the primary pipe with a range of 100–500 kg/h in mass flow. Besides, the fluid temperature and the dynamic vapor quality after mixing in tests are analyzed, and the simulations of 25 thermal mixing tests using the LOCUST 1.2 code are performed. The results show that the maximum relative error of LOCUST in mass flow of liquid is within 13.8 %, and the maximum relative error of LOCUST in temperature is within 8 %, which validates the reliability and accuracy of simulations of LOCUST for two-phase thermal mixing in LOCA.

Abstract Background The understanding of the factors causing decreased overall survival (OS) in older patients compared to younger patients in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) remains. Methods Gene expression profiles of LUAD were obtained from publicly available databases by Kaplan‐Meier analysis was performed to determine whether age was associated with patient OS. The immune cell composition in the tumor microenvironment (TME) was evaluated using CIBERSORT. The fraction of stromal and immune cells in tumor samples were also using assessed using multiple tools including ESTIMATE, EPIC, and TIMER. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) from the RNA‐Seq data that were associated with age and immune cell composition were identified using the R package DEGseq. A 22‐gene signature composed of DEGs associated with age and immune cell composition that predicted OS were constructed using Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO). Results In The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA)‐LUAD dataset, we found that younger patients (≤70) had a significant better OS compared to older patients (>70). In addition, older patients had significantly higher expression of immune checkpoint proteins including inhibitory T cell receptors and their ligands. Moreover, analyses using multiple bioinformatics tools showed increased immune infiltration, including CD4+ T cells, in older patients compared to younger patients. We identified a panel of genes differentially expressed between patients >70 years compared to those ≤70 years, as well as between patients with high or low immune scores and selected 84 common genes to construct a prognostic gene signature. A risk score calculated based on 22 genes selected by LASSO predicted 1, 3, and 5‐year OS, with an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.72, 0.72, 0.69, receptively, in TCGA‐LUAD dataset and an independent validation dataset available from the European Genome‐phenome Archive (EGA). Conclusion Our results demonstrate that age contributes to OS of LUAD patients atleast in part through its association with immune infiltration in the TME.

In the concept of Fluoride-Salt-cooled high-Temperature Advanced Reactor (FuSTAR), the Printed Circuit Heat Exchanger (PCHE) is mainly considered in its supercritical carbon dioxide (S–CO2) Brayton cycle secondary loop. The design of the PCHE is based on the property of working fluid provided by the Brayton cycle system design. Therefore, a fast and iterative PCHE design method is required. In this study, a mathematical model based on Picard's iterative method is proposed. The model can solve full plate temperature field with complex boundary conditions and initial values including cross-flow and counter-flow PCHE in parallel. Based on FuSTAR Brayton cycle design conditions, three sizes of cross-flow and counter-flow PCHEs are simulated respectively by the mathematical model. Compared with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models, a one and three-dimensional coupling model and a three-dimensional model, the mathematical model reduced the computing time from 1 to 10 h to 1–10 s, and the maximum temperature mean deviation is 18.6% for the smallest size case because of the edge effect and local disturbance, but 8.4% for other size. Taking secondary loop recuperator design as example, the computing speed and accuracy of the mathematical model can meet the design requirements of FuSTAR PCHE.

Ice crystal icing occurs in jet engine compressors, which can severely degrade jet engine performance. In this paper, two different numerical calculation methods, the Eulerian method and the Lagrangian method, were used to evaluate the dynamics, mass transfer, heat transfer, phase transition and trajectory of ice crystals. Then, we studied the effects of initial diameter, initial sphericity, initial temperature of ice crystal, and relative humidity of airflow on the phase transition and collection characteristics of ice crystal particles. Results indicate that the non-spherical characteristics of ice crystals have a significant impact on their impingement limits and collection characteristics. The collection coefficient of unmelted ice crystals is positively correlated with the initial particle diameter and sphericity, and negatively correlated with the initial particle temperature and the relative humidity of airflow. The melting rate of ice crystal particles on the impact surface increases exponentially with the initial diameter of the particles, linearly increases with the relative humidity of the airflow and initial temperature of the particles, and exponentially decreases with the sphericity of the particles.

Recently, nanotechnology attracts more and more attention in heat transfer system. Many studies have shown that using nanofluid as the working fluid can improve the thermal performance of the heat pipe. In this paper, the preliminary effort of applying nano-surface engineering on the heat pipe wick to fabricate the nano-structured wick structure has been carried out. Experimental investigation has been performed to determine the effect of the heat source power, mesh aperture and the wick surface structure on the total thermal resistance of the wick structure. When the heat source power increased from 20 W to 30 W, then to 50 W, the evaporation resistance decreases 25.9% and 13.7% respectively, while the conduction resistance increases 24.8% at first and then decreases 9.5%. The evaporation resistance is less with than without the wick structure, and it increases with the increase of mesh aperture. When the mesh aperture increases from 75 μm to 150 μm, then to 460 μm, the evaporation resistance increases 1.9% and 1.7% respectively. Whereas, the wick structure, as well as the mesh aperture have slight influence on the conduction resistance. The experimental results suggest that the nano structure on the surface can efficiently decrease the evaporation resistance but increase the conduction resistance at the same time. Compared to the wick structure with smooth surface, the evaporation resistance of nano-surface deposited by 0.01% TiO2 and 0.02% TiO2 has decreased 4.3% and 15.5%, respectively. This study provides a reference for the preparation of the heat pipe with greater performance in the future.

Deeply understanding the phase change of thin liquid sodium film inside wick pore is very important for further studying high-temperature sodium heat pipe's heat transfer. For the first time, the evaporation and condensation of thin liquid sodium film are investigated by the Lennard-Jones potential of molecular dynamics. Based on the startup and normal operation of the sodium heat pipe, three different cases are simulated. First, the equilibrium is achieved and the Mass Accommodation Coefficients of the three cases are 0.3886, 0.2119, 0.2615 respectively. Secondly, the non-equilibrium is built. The change of liquid film thickness, the number of gas atoms, the net evaporation flux (Jnet), the heat transfer coefficient (h) at the liquid-gas interface are acquired. Results indicate that the magnitude of the Jnet and the h increase with the basic equilibrium temperature. In 520–600 K (the startup of the heat pipe), the h has approached 5–6 W m−2 K−1 while liquid film thickness is in 11–13 nm. The fact shows that during the initial startup of the sodium heat pipe, the thermal resistance at the liquid-gas interface can't be negligible. This work is the complement and extension for macroscopic investigation of heat transfer inside sodium heat pipe. It can provide a reference for further numerical simulation and optimal design of the sodium heat pipe in the future.

Abstracts: The research on the flow and heat transfer characteristics of lead bismuth(LBE) is significant for the thermal-hydraulic calculation, safety analysis and practical application of lead-based fast reactors(LFR). In this paper, a new CFD model is proposed to solve the thermal-hydraulic analysis of LBE. The model includes two parts: turbulent model and turbulent Prandtl, which are the important factors for LBE. In order to find the best model, the experiment data and design of 19-pin hexagonal rod bundle with spacer grid, undertaken at the Karlsruhe Liquid Metal Laboratory (KALLA) are used for CFD calculation. Furthermore, the turbulent model includes SST k−ω and k−ε; the turbulent Prandtl includes Cheng-Tak and constant (Prt =1.5,2.0,2.5,3.0). Among them, the combination between SST k−ω and Cheng-Tak is more suitable for the experiment. But in the low Pe region, the deviation between the experiment data and CFD result is too much. The reason may be the inlet-effect and when Pe is in a low level, the number of molecular thermal diffusion occupies an absolute advantage, and the buoyancy will enhance. In order to test and verify versatility of the model, the NCCL performed by the Nuclear Thermal-hydraulic Laboratory (Nuthel) of Xi'an Jiao tong University is used for CFD to calculate. This paper provides two verification examples for the new universal model.

Once-through steam generator (OTSG) is a vital heat transfer equipment of China Fast Reactor-600 (CFR-600), and its startup characteristics are of great importance to the safe operation of nuclear power plant. In this paper, first of all, the Thermal-hydraulic analysis Code Of Sodium heated once-through Steam generator (TCOSS) has been further optimized, and the code was introduced in the text. Secondly, the Steam Generator Test Facility (SGTF) and India Commercial Fast Breeder Reactor (CFBR) were selected for steady-state verification, and the feedwater flow rate increase condition of the prototype OTSG experiment was selected for transient verification. All the verifications were in good compliance, which proved the reliability of the TCOSS code for subsequent calculation of startup conditions. Finally, taking the prototype OTSG of CFR-600 as the research object, and the transient characteristics of cold startup and hot startup have been predicted and analyzed. The results show that both processes of cold startup and hot startup for prototype OTSG can be realized stably. The simulation results of startup processes showed a good agreement with expectations, which can provide support for the development of CFR-600 steam generator.

Due to the industry knowledge barrier, general computer aided design (CAD) software cannot do everything in digital manufacturing by itself, and industry CAD, therefore, occupies a crucial position in the CAD industry. To develop industry CAD smoothly, open-source is the best choice. We analyzed recent examples of industry CAD development and divided the development methods into four types: development based on the graphics development environment, development based on geometric modelling kernel, secondary development based on general CAD, and hybrid development. We analyzed the characteristics of various methods and believe that the method based on the hybrid development of the geometric modelling kernel and the graphics development environment is the best open-source industry CAD development method. We proposed a system architecture of open-source industry CAD for reference and conducted a preliminary exploration of the reference architecture to verify its feasibility.

Pool boiling heat transfer is widely applied in nuclear engineering fields. The influence of heating surface orientation on the pool boiling heat transfer has received extensive attention. In this study, the heating surface with different roughness was adopted to conduct pool boiling experiments at different inclination angles. Based on the boiling curves and bubble images, the effects of inclination angle on the pool boiling heat transfer and critical heat flux were analyzed. When the inclination angle was bigger than 90°, the bubble size increased with the increase of inclination angle. Both the bubble departure frequency and critical heat flux decreased as the inclination angle increased. The existing theoretical models about pool boiling heat transfer and critical heat flux were compared. From the perspective of bubble agitation model and Hot/Dry spot model, the experimental phenomena could be explained reasonably. The enlargement of bubble not only could enhance the agitation of nearby liquid but also would cause the bubble to stay longer on the heating surface. Consequently, the effect of inclination angle on the pool boiling heat transfer was not conspicuous. With the increase of inclination angle, the rewetting of heating surface became much more difficult. It has negative effect on the critical heat flux. This work provides experimental data basis for heat transfer and CHF performance of pool boiling.

Abstract Background N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification is the most common chemical modification in mammalian mRNAs, and it plays important roles by regulating several cellular processes. Previous studies report that m6A is implicated in modulating tumorigenesis and progression. However, dysregulation of m6A modification and effect of m6A demethylase fat-mass and obesity-associated protein (FTO) on glucose metabolism has not been fully elucidated in papillary thyroid cancer (PTC). Methods Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR), western blotting and immunohistochemistry were performed to explore the expression profile of FTO in PTC tissues and adjacent non-cancerous thyroid tissues. Effects of FTO on PTC glycolysis and growth were investigated through in vitro and in vivo experiments. Mechanism of FTO-mediated m6A modification was explored through transcriptome-sequencing (RNA-seq), methylated RNA immunoprecipitation sequencing (MeRIP-seq), MeRIP-qPCR, luciferase reporter assays, RNA stability assay and RNA immunoprecipitation assay. Results FTO expression was significantly downregulated in PTC tissues. Functional analysis showed that FTO inhibited PTC glycolysis and growth. Further analyses were conducted to explore FTO-mediated m6A modification profile in PTC cells and Apolipoprotein E (APOE) was identified as the target gene for FTO-mediated m6A modification using RNA-seq and MeRIP-seq. FTO knockdown significantly increased APOE mRNA m6A modification and upregulated its expression. FTO-mediated m6A modification of APOE mRNA was recognized and stabilized by the m6A reader IGF2BP2. The findings showed that APOE also promoted tumor growth through glycolysis in PTC. Analysis showed that FTO/APOE axis inhibits PTC glycolysis by modulating IL-6/JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway. Conclusion FTO acts as a tumor suppressor to inhibit tumor glycolysis in PTC. The findings of the current study showed that FTO inhibited expression of APOE through IGF2BP2-mediated m6A modification and may inhibit glycolytic metabolism in PTC by modulating IL-6/JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway, thus abrogating tumor growth.

A heat pipe residual heat removal system is proposed to be incorporated into the reactor driven subcritical (RDS) facility, which has been proposed by MIT Nuclear Reactor Laboratory for testing and demonstrating the Fluoride-salt-cooled High-temperature Reactor (FHR). It aims to reduce the risk of the system operation after the shutdown of the facility. One of the main components of the system is an air-cooled heat pipe heat exchanger. The alkali-metal high-temperature heat pipe was designed to meet the operation temperature and residual heat removal requirement of the facility. The heat pipe model developed in the previous work was adopted to simulate the designed heat pipe and assess the heat transport capability. 3D numerical simulation of the subcritical facility active zone was performed by the commercial CFD software STAR CCM + to investigate the operation characteristics of this proposed system. The thermal resistance network of the heat pipe was built and incorporated into the CFD model. The nominal condition, partial loss of air flow accident and partial heat pipe failure accident were simulated and analyzed. The results show that the residual heat removal system can provide sufficient cooling of the subcritical facility with a remarkable safety margin. The heat pipe can work under the recommended operation temperature range and the heat flux is below all thermal limits. The facility peak temperature is also lower than the safety limits.

Reactor fuel's power distribution plays a vital role in designing the new generation thermionic Space Reactor Power Systems (SRPS). In this paper, the 1/12th SPACE-R's full reactor core was numerically analyzed with two kinds of different axial power distribution, to identify their impacts on thermal-hydraulic and thermoelectric characteristics. In the benchmark study, the maximum error between numerical results and existing data or design values ranged from 0.2 to 2.2%. Four main conclusions were obtained in the numerical analysis: a) The axial power distribution has less impact on coolant temperature. b) Axial power distribution influenced the emitter temperature distribution a lot, when the core power was cosine distributed, the maximum temperature of the emitter was 194 K higher than that of the uniform power distribution. c) Comparing to the cosine axial power distribution, the uniform axial power distribution would make the maximum temperature in each component of the reactor core much lower, reducing the requirements for core fuel material. d) Voltage and current distribution were similar to the axial electrode temperature distribution, and the axial power distribution has little effect on the output power.

Fat mass and obesity-associated (FTO) protein, the first m6A demethylase identified in 2011, regulates multiple aspects of RNA biology including splicing, localization, stability, and translation. Accumulating data show that FTO is involved in numerous physiological processes and is implicated in multiple cancers including renal cell carcinoma (RCC). However, the exact role of FTO in RCC remains controversial. Some studies demonstrated that decreased FTO expression was associated with aggressive clinical features and shorter overall survival in clear cell RCC (ccRCC) patients, while others found that FTO inhibition selectively reduced the growth and survival of VHL-deficient ccRCC cells in vitro and in vivo. Here, we review the evidence supporting either a promoting or suppressive role of FTO in kidney cancers, the mechanisms of action of FTO, and recent progress in developing FTO inhibitors.

Flow blockage of the fuel assembly in the lead-based fast reactor (LFR) may produce critical local spots, which will result in cladding failure and threaten reactor safety. In this study, the flow blockage characteristics were analyzed with the sub-channel analysis method, and the circumferentially-varied method was employed for considering the non-uniform distribution of circumferential temperature. The developed sub-channel analysis code SACOS-PB was validated by a heat transfer experiment in a blocked 19-rod bundle cooled by lead-bismuth eutectic. The deviations between the predicted coolant temperature and experimental values are within ±5%, including small and large flow blockage scenarios. And the temperature distributions of the fuel rod could be better simulated by the circumferentially-varied method for the small blockage scenario. Based on the validated code, the analysis of blockage characteristics was conducted. It could be seen from the temperature and flow distributions that a large blockage accident is more destructive compared with a small one. The sensitivity analysis shows that the closer the blockage location is to the exit, the more dangerous the accident is. Similarly, a larger blockage length will lead to a more serious case. And a higher exit temperature will be generated resulting from a higher peak coolant temperature of the blocked region. This work could provide a reference for the future design and development of the LFR.

An optimal joint allocation of multijammer resources is proposed for jamming a Netted Radar System (NRS) in the case of multitarget penetration. First, the multitarget detection probabilities of NRS in the suppressive jamming environment are used as an interference performance metric. Then, the resource optimization model is established, including two optimization variables, namely, jamming beam and transmitting power, considering the detection performance requirements of different targets. Particle swarm optimization is used to solve the resource-optimization problem. Finally, considering the generalization error of the detection probability caused by the parameter uncertainty of the NRS, the robust resource-optimization model is established. The simulation results show that the proposed optimization model is effective in suppressing the NRS and reducing the probability of the penetrating targets detected by the NRS. Compared with the traditional method, the robust algorithm improves the cooperative interference performance of multiple jammers against NRS and is robust.

BackgroundThyroid cancer has been on the rise over the last decade. Papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC) accounts for more than half of all thyroid cancers. Micropapillary carcinoma of the thyroid is a common but non-fatal form of thyroid cancer. To better comprehend, nearly two decades of scientific outputs were analyzed and summarized using bibliometric methods in this study.MethodsApproximately 1098 publications from 2000 and 2021 were included in WoS database through systematic retrieval. The general information was characterized, and developmental skeleton and research frontiers were explored. CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and R, Tableau were used to evaluate and visualize the results.ResultsA total of 1098 publications from across 75 countries were identified. The annual number of publications showed an increasing trend in the past 21 years. China, Korea, the United States of America (USA), Italy, and Japan made remarkable contributions to the research of PTMC. Thyroid was the most productive journal. Miyauchi Akira published maximum articles. The utmost productive institution was the University of Ulsan. Risk stratification, active surveillance, and thermal ablation garnered the attention of researchers leading to novel approaches in the clinical diagnosis and treatment of micropapillary thyroid carcinoma.ConclusionsThis bibliometric study provides a comprehensive analysis of global productivity, collaboration, and research hotspots within PTMC field, which will aid in directing research toward PTMC in the coming years.

One-dimensional oxygen transport relation is indispensable to study the oxygen distribution in the LBE-cooled system with an oxygen control device. In this paper, a numerical research is carried out to study the oxygen transport characteristics in a gas-phase oxygen control device, including the static case and dynamic case. The model of static oxygen control is based on the two-phase VOF model and the results agree well with the theoretical expectation. The model of dynamic oxygen control is simplified and the gas-liquid interface is treated as a free surface boundary with a constant oxygen concentration. The influences of the inlet and interface oxygen concentration, mass flow rate, temperature, and the inlet pipe location on the mass transfer characteristics are discussed. Based on the results, an oxygen mass transport relation considering the temperature dependence and velocity dependence separately is obtained. The relation can be used in a one-dimensional system analysis code to predict the oxygen provided by the oxygen control device, which is an important part of the integral oxygen mass transfer models.

The Free-Piston Stirling engine (FPSE) is of interest for many research in aerospace due to its advantages of long operating life, higher efficiency, and zero maintenance. In this study, a 1-kW FPSE was proposed by analyzing the requirements of Space Reactor Power Systems (SRPS), of which performance was evaluated by developing a code through the Simple Analysis Method. The results of SAM showed that the critical parameters of FPSE could satisfy the designed requirements. The heater of the FPSE was designed with the copper rectangular fins to enhance heat transfer, and the parametric study of the heater was performed with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software STAR-CCM+. The Performance Evaluation Criteria (PEC) was used to evaluate the heat transfer enhancement of the fins in the heater. The numerical results of the CFD program showed that pressure drop and Nusselt number ratio had a linear growth with the height of fins, and PEC number decreased as the height of fins increased, and the optimum height of the fin was set as 4 mm according to the minimum heat exchange surface area. This paper can provide theoretical supports for the design and numerical analysis of an FPSE for SRPSs.

To date, driver genes for pancreatic cancer treatment are difficult to pursue therapeutically. Targeting mutated KRAS, the most renowned driver gene in pancreatic cancer, is an active area of study. We discovered a gene named SEMA3C was highly expressed in pancreatic cancer cell lines and patients with a G12D mutation in KRAS. High expression of SEMA3C in patients was significantly associated with the decreased survival of pancreatic cancer patients based on the TCGA database. In pancreatic cancer cells, SEMA3C knockdown or inhibition exhibited growth/colony inhibition and cell cycle arrest. In addition, SEMA3C inhibition sensitized KRAS or MEK1/2 inhibition in pancreatic cancer cells. Overexpression of SEMA3C resulted in the induction of autophagy, whereas depletion of SEMA3C compromised induction of autophagy. SEMA3C modified the PD-L1 expression in tumor and immune cells and is correlated with the M2-like macrophage marker ARG1/CD163 expression, which could reshape the tumor microenvironment. Inhibition of SEMA3C decreased tumor formation in the xenograft model in vivo. Taken together, our data suggest that SEMA3C plays a substantial role in promoting cancer cell survival by regulating the autophagy process and impacting the tumor environment immune response. SEMA3C can be used as a novel target or marker with therapeutic or diagnostic potential in pancreatic cancer especially in tumors harboring the specific KRAS G12D mutation.

The free-piston Stirling engine (FPSE) has been widely used in aerospace owing to its advantages of high efficiency, high reliability, and self-starting ability. In this paper, a 20-kW FPSE is proposed by analyzing the requirements of space nuclear power reactor. A code was developed based on an improved simple analysis method to evaluate the performance of the proposed FPSE. The code is benchmarked with experimental data, and the maximum relative error of the output power is 17.1%. Numerical results show that the output power is 21 kW, which satisfies the design requirements. The results show that: a) reducing the pressure shell’s thickness can improve the output power significantly; b) the system efficiency increases with the wire porosity, while the growth of system efficiency decreases when the porosity is higher than 80%, and system efficiency exhibits a linear relationship with the temperatures of the cold and hot sides; c) the system efficiency increases with the compression ratio; the compression ratio increases by 16.7% while the system efficiency increases by 42%. This study can provide valuable theoretical support for the design and analysis of FPSEs for space nuclear power reactors.

Increased expression of NUSAP1 has been identified as a robust prognostic biomarker in prostate cancer and other malignancies. We have previously shown that NUSAP1 is positively regulated by E2F1 and promotes cancer invasion and metastasis. To further understand the biological function of NUSAP1, we used affinity purification and mass spectrometry proteomic analysis to identify NUSAP1 interactors. We identified 85 unique proteins in the NUSAP1 interactome, including ILF2, DHX9, and other RNA-binding proteins. Using proteomic approaches, we uncovered a function for NUSAP1 in maintaining R-loops and in DNA damage response through its interaction with ILF2. Co-immunoprecipitation and colocalization using confocal microscopy verified the interactions of NUSAP1 with ILF2 and DHX9, and RNA/DNA hybrids. We showed that the microtubule and charged helical domains of NUSAP1 were necessary for the protein-protein interactions. Depletion of ILF2 alone further increased camptothecin-induced R-loop accumulation and DNA damage, and NUSAP1 depletion abolished this effect. In human prostate adenocarcinoma, NUSAP1 and ILF2 mRNA expression levels are positively correlated, elevated, and associated with poor clinical outcomes. Our study identifies a novel role for NUSAP1 in regulating R-loop formation and accumulation in response to DNA damage through its interactions with ILF2 and hence provides a potential therapeutic target.

With the increasing traffic of train communication network (TCN), real-time Ethernet becomes the development trend. However, Train Control and Management System (TCMS) is inevitably faced with more security threats than before because of the openness of Ethernet communication protocol. It is necessary to introduce effective security mechanism into TCN. Therefore, we propose a train real-time Ethernet anomaly detection system (TREADS). TREADS introduces a multiple streams clustering algorithm to realize anomaly detection, which considers the correlation between the data dimensions and adopts the decay window to pay more attention to the recent data. In the experiment, the reliability of TREADS is tested based on the TRDP data set collected from the real network environment, and the models of anomaly detection algorithms are established for evaluation. Experimental results show that TREADS can provide a high reliability guarantee, besides, the algorithm can detect and analyze network anomalies more efficiently and accurately.

Experiments of vertically upward steam-water two-phase flow have been carried out in single-side heated narrow rectangular channel with a gap of 3 mm. Flow patterns were identified and classified through visualization directly. Slug flow was only observed at 0.2 MPa but replaced by block-bubble flow at 1.0 MPa. Flow pattern maps at the pressure of 0.2 MPa and 1.0 MPa were plotted and the difference was analyzed. The experimental data has been compared with other flow pattern maps and transition criteria. The results show reasonable agreement with Hosler's, while a wide discrepancy is observed when compared with air-water two-phase experimental data. Current criteria developed based on air-water experiments poorly predict bubble-slug flow transition due to the different formation and growth of bubbles. This work is significant for researches on heat transfer, bubble dynamics and flow instability.

An additional low temperature overpressure protection system which relies on the Pressurizer (PRZ) pressure relief valves has been put forward under the situation in which the Residual Heat Removal System (RHRS) is unavailable or isolated. Taking into account the risk of Reactor Pressure Vessel (RPV) brittle fracture and LOCA under cold overpressurization transients, it is urgent to strengthen the low temperature overpressure protection for in-service Pressurized Water Reactors (PWR) in China. In this paper, the simulation and analysis of two types of overpressure transients at low temperature during the shutdown process are carried out through the detailed Relap5 modeling of CPR1000. The results show that the place where the brittle fracture occurs firstly is the lower plenum. The sensitivities of the system temperature and the opening/closing time of the additional protection system's valve are analyzed. The system set point becomes more restrictive at lower coolant temperature. Additional threshold values of the PRZ pressure relief valve are given under different Effective Full Power Years (EFPY). The set point should be less than 5.5 MPa in the case of 5 EFPY and less than 3.7 MPa at 10 EFPY.The results can be applied to engineering practice, which can effectively improve the safety of CPR1000.

A dryout mechanism model for rectangular narrow channels at high pressure conditions is developed by assuming that the Kelvin–Helmholtz instability triggered the occurrence of dryout. This model combines the advantages of theoretical analysis and empirical correlation. The unknown coefficients in the theoretical derivation are supported by the experimental data. Meanwhile, the decisive restriction of the experimental conditions on the applicability of the empirical correlation is avoided. The expression of vapor phase velocity at the time of dryout is derived, and the empirical correlation of liquid film thickness is introduced. Since the CHF value obtained from the liquid film thickness should be the same as the value obtained from the Kelvin–Helmholtz critical stability under the same condition, the convergent CHF value is obtained by iteratively calculating. Comparing with the experimental data under the pressure of 6.89–13.79 MPa, the average error of the model is −15.4% with the 95% confidence interval [-20.5%, −10.4%]. And the pressure has a decisive influence on the prediction accuracy of this model. Compared with the existing dryout code, the calculation speed of this model is faster, and the calculation accuracy is improved. This model, with great portability, could be applied to different objects and working conditions by changing the expression of the vapor phase velocity when the dryout phenomenon is triggered and the calculation formula of the liquid film.

High fidelity nuclear reactor fuel assembly simulation using CFD method is an effective way for the structure design and optimization. The validated models and user practice guidelines play critical roles in achieving reliable results in CFD simulations. In this paper, the international benchmark MATiS-H is studied carefully and the best user practice guideline is achieved for the rod bundles simulation. Then a 5 × 5 rod bundles model in the advanced pressurized water reactor (PWR) is established and the detailed three-dimensional thermal-hydraulic characteristics are investigated. The influence of spacer grids and mixing vanes on the flow and hear transfer in rod bundles is revealed. As the coolant flows through the spacer grids and mixing vanes in the rod bundles, the drastic lateral flow would be induced and the pressure drop increases significantly. In addition, the heat transfer is enhanced remarkably due to the strong mixing effects. The calculation results could provide meaningful guidelines for the design of advanced PWR fuel assembly.

The flow characteristics of reactor fuel assembly always intrigue the designers and the experimentalists among the myriad phenomena that occur simultaneously in a nuclear core. In this work, the visual experimental method has been developed on the basis of refraction index matching (RIM) and particle image velocimetry (PIV) techniques to investigate the detailed flow characteristics in China fast reactor fuel subassembly. A 7-rod bundle of simulated fuel subassembly was fabricated for fine examination of flow characteristics in different subchannels. The experiments were performed at condition of Re = 6500 (axial bulk velocity 1.6 m/s) and the fluid medium was maintained at 30 °C and 1.0 bar during operation. As for results, axial and lateral flow features were observed. It is shown that the spiral wire has an inhibitory effect on axial flow and significant intensity of lateral flow mixing effect is induced by the wire. The root mean square (RMS) of lateral velocity fluctuation was acquired after data processing, which indicates the strong turbulence characteristics in different flow subchannels. Core-wide temperature distribution in sodium-cooled fast reactor plays a key role in its decay heat removal process, however the prediction for temperature distribution is quite complex due to the conjugate heat transfer between the assembly flow and the inter-wrapper flow. Hybrid medium model has been proposed for conjugate heat transfer modeling in the core. The core is modeled with a Realistic modeled inter-wrapper flow and hybrid medium modeled assembly flow. To validate present model, simulations for a three-assembly model were performed with Realistic modeling, traditional porous medium model and hybrid medium model, respectively. The influences of Uniform/Non-Uniform power distribution among assemblies and the Peclet number within the assembly flow have been considered. Compared to traditional porous medium model, present model shows a better agreement with in Realistic modeling prediction of the temperature distribution and the radial heat transfer between the inter-wrapper flow and the assembly flow. Abstract Background Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are pluripotent mesenchymal cells present in various adult tissues. MSCs secrete exosomes as regulators of the tumor niche, with involvement in tumorigenesis and metastasis. The regulatory role of microRNAs (miRs or miRNAs) in MSCs via targeting cyclin E1 (CCNE1) or cyclin E2 (CCNE2) has been extensively reported. Since exosomes are considered as protective and enriched sources of shuttle miRNAs, we hypothesized that exosomal transfer of miR-144 from bone marrow-derived MSCs (BMMSCs) would affect the development of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells by targeting CCNE1 and CCNE2. Methods We first quantified the levels of miR-144, CCNE1, and CCNE2 in NSCLC tissues and cell lines and then undertook gain- and loss-of-function studies of miR-144, CCNE1, and CCNE2 to investigate their roles in the biological characteristics of NSCLC in vitro. NSCLC cells (A549) were exposed to exosomes derived from MSCs, and cell proliferation and colony formation rate were determined using in vitro assays. Finally, effects of BMMSC-derived exosomal miR-144 on tumor development were studied in vivo. Results In NSCLC tissues and cell lines, miR-144 was expressed poorly and CCNE1 and CCNE2 were expressed highly. Artificially elevating miR-144 inhibited cell proliferation, colony formation, and the number of S phase-arrested cells in NSCLC by downregulating CCNE1 and CCNE2. Additionally, BMMSC-derived exosomal miR-144 led to restrained NSCLC cell proliferation and colony formation. These inhibitory effects of BMMSC-derived exosomes carrying miR-144 on NSCLC were confirmed by experiments in vivo. Conclusion Collectively, these findings revealed inhibitory effects of BMMSC-derived exosomal miR-144 on NSCLC progression, which were mediated by downregulation of CCNE1 and CCNE2.

During the last few years, information technology and transportation industries, along with automotive manufacturers and academia, are focusing on leveraging intelligent transportation systems (ITS) to improve services related to driver experience, connected cars, Internet data plans for vehicles, traffic infrastructure, urban transportation systems, traffic collaborative management, road traffic accidents analysis, road traffic flow prediction, public transportation service plan, personal travel route plans, and the development of an effective ecosystem for vehicles, drivers, traffic controllers, city planners, and transportation applications. Moreover, the emerging technologies of the Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud computing have provided unprecedented opportunities for the development and realization of innovative intelligent transportation systems where sensors and mobile devices can gather information and cloud computing, allowing knowledge discovery, information sharing, and supported decision making. However, the development of such data-driven ITS requires the integration, processing, and analysis of plentiful information obtained from millions of vehicles, traffic infrastructures, smartphones, and other collaborative systems like weather stations and road safety and early warning systems. The huge amount of data generated by ITS devices is only of value if utilized in data analytics for decision-making such as accident prevention and detection, controlling road risks, reducing traffic carbon emissions, and other applications which bring big data analytics into the picture.

Plate fuel elements is gradually used in advanced reactor structure design because of its advantages of high fuel consumption and high safety. The flow channel of the plate fuel element is a typical rectangular narrow channel, and accurately obtaining the flow characteristics of the rectangular narrow channel has become the most basic problem in the thermal and hydraulic research of the rectangular narrow channel. The flow characteristics of a rectangular narrow channel with cross-section of 3 × 67 mm and length of 745 mm are studied experimentally. The mass flow range is 50–650 kg/h, the pressure is 0.1–1 MPa, and the range of the inlet temperature is 283.15–333.15 K. The Reynolds number obtained experimentally in the laminar-turbulent transition region is in the range of 2700–4000, which has a significant delay compared to round channels. Laminar flow is modeled theoretically, and the Fourier sine transform method is used to solve the momentum Navier-Stocks equation, and the expression of the friction coefficient is obtained through the velocity distribution. However, due to the particularity of the test section, the error of the theoretical solution is large compared with experimental data. Five empirical correlations commonly used in rectangular narrow channels are evaluated. The Leon correlation is applicable to the experimental laminar flow area, and the Blasius correlation is applicable to the turbulent flow area. In order to further reduce the error, the friction correlation applicable to this experimental condition is fitted, making the prediction of friction coefficient more accurate. For subsequent experimental research on heat transfer, flow pattern, CHF, flow instability, etc., these works are of great significance.

ECCMIX component was introduced in RELAP5/MOD3 for calculating the interfacial condensation. Compared to other existing components in RELAP5, user experience of ECCMIX component is restricted to developmental assessment applications. To evaluate the capability of the ECCMIX component, ECCS experiment was conducted which included single-phase and two-phase thermal mixing. The experiment was carried out with test sections containing a main pipe (70 mm inner diameter) and a branch pipe (21 mm inner diameter) under the atmospheric pressure. The steam mass flow in the main pipe ranged from 0 to 0.0347 kg/s, and the subcooled water mass flow in the branch pipe ranged from 0.0278 to 0.1389 kg/s. The comparison of the experimental data with the calculation results illuminated that although the ECCMIX component was more difficult to converge than Branch component, it was a more appropriate manner to simulate interfacial condensation under two-phase thermal mixing circumstance, while the two components had no differences under single-phase circumstance. Train station delay prediction is always one of the core research issues in high-speed railway dispatching. Reliable prediction of station delay can help dispatchers to accurately estimate the train operation status and make reasonable dispatching decisions to improve the operation and service quality of rail transit. The delay of one station is affected by many factors, such as spatiotemporal factor, speed limitation or suspension caused by strong wind or bad weather, and high passenger flow caused by major holiday. But previous studies have not fully combined the spatiotemporal characteristics of station delay and the impact of external factors. This paper makes good use of the train operation data, proposes the multiattention mechanism to capture the spatiotemporal characteristics of train operation data and process the external factors, and establishes a Multiattention Train Station Delay Graph Convolution Network (MATGCN) model to predict the train delay at high-speed railway stations, so as to provide references for train dispatching and emergency plan. This paper uses real train operation data coming from China high-speed railway network to prove that our model is superior to ANN, SVR, LSTM, RF, and TSTGCN models in the prediction effect of MAE, RMSE, and MAPE.

The sodium heated once-through steam generator (OTSG) is a vital barrier separating sodium and the water loop in the sodium-cooled fast reactor (SFR). In view of the timeliness requirement of OTSG operation performance evaluation, Fortran95 programming language is used to optimize and improve the solution algorithm of the home-made transient analysis code, named TCOSS, for SFR sodium heated OTSG, which is modified into the JFNK algorithm for solving large sparse nonlinear matrices. It includes a matrix preconditioning module, a Krylov subspace formation module, a GMRES algorithm module and an inexact Newton iteration module. The correctness and efficiency of the algorithm model were verified using benchmarks such as the B1-B transient, ETEC shutdown experiments and seven-tube prototype experiments. The calculation speed was increased by more than four times.

Three-layer back propagation network (BPN) and genetic neural network (GNN) were developed in this study to predict the flow boiling heat transfer coefficient (HTC) in conventional and small-diameter channels. The GNN has higher precision than BPN (with root mean square errors of 17.16% and 20.50%, respectively) and other correlations. The inputs include vapor quality x, mass flux G, heat flux q, diameter D and physical parameter φ, and the predicted flow boiling HTC is set as the outputs. Influences of input parameters on the flow boiling HTC are discussed based on the trained GNN: nucleate boiling promoted by a larger saturated pressure, a larger heat flux and a smaller diameter is dominant in small channels; convective boiling improved by a larger mass flux and a larger vapor quality is more significant in conventional channels. The HTC increases with pressure both in conventional and small channels. The HTC in conventional channels rises when mass flux increases but remains almost unaffected in small channels. A larger heat flux leads to the HTC growth in small channels and an increase of HTC was observed in conventional channels at a higher vapor quality. HTC increases inversely with diameter before dry out. ObjectiveChildren with papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) have a higher invasive rate and distant metastasis rate, but the mortality rate is lower with unknown reasons. The majority of PTC cases comprise classical papillary thyroid carcinoma (CPTC) and follicular variant papillary thyroid carcinoma (FVPTC). This study aimed to determine the relationship between histopathological subtype and rate of distant metastasis and investigate factors influencing distant metastasis in pediatric PTC.MethodsA total of 102,981 PTC patients were recruited from SEER registry, 2004-2015. Proportion of distant metastasis between children (≤18 years) and adults with different histopathological subtypes was compared by propensity score matching. The cut-off age for distant metastasis in children was calculated by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, and the risk factors for distant metastasis in pediatric patients were analyzed by logistic regression models.ResultsAmong the 1,484 children and 101,497 adults included in the study, the incidence of CPTC patients with distant metastasis in children was higher than that in adults (p18 years) (both p18 years). In patients with distant metastasis aged 2-16 years, the proportion of CPTC was higer than that of FVPTC. Extrathyroidal extension, lymph node metastasis, and CPTC histopathological subtype were risk factors for distant metastasis in young children aged 2-16 years.

Studying the decoding process of complex grasping movement is of great significance to the field of motor rehabilitation. This study aims to decode five natural reach-and-grasp types using sources of movement-related cortical potential (MRCP) and investigate their difference in cortical signal characteristics and network structures. Electroencephalogram signals were gathered from 40 channels of eight healthy subjects. In an audio cue-based experiment, subjects were instructed to keep no-movement condition or perform five natural reach-and-grasp movements: palmar, pinch, push, twist and plug. We projected MRCP into source space and used average source amplitudes in 24 regions of interest as classification features. Besides, functional connectivity was calculated using phase locking value. Six-class classification results showed that a similar grand average peak performance of 49.35% can be achieved using source features, with only two-thirds of the number of channel features. Besides, source imaging maps and brain networks presented different patterns between each condition. Grasping pattern analysis indicated that the modules in the execution stage focus more on internal communication than in the planning stage. The former stage was related to the parietal lobe, whereas the latter was associated with the frontal lobe. This study demonstrates the superiority and effectiveness of source imaging technology and reveals the spread mechanism and network structure of five natural reach-and-grasp movements. We believe that our work will contribute to the understanding of the generation mechanism of grasping movement and promote a natural and intuitive control of brain–computer interface.

Patient-derived xenografts (PDX) are high-fidelity cancer models typically credentialled by genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics. Characterization of metabolic reprogramming, a hallmark of cancer, is less frequent. Dysregulated metabolism is a key feature of clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) and authentic preclinical models are needed to evaluate novel imaging and therapeutic approaches targeting metabolism. We characterized 5 PDX from high-grade or metastatic ccRCC by multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and steady state metabolic profiling and flux analysis. Similar to MRI of clinical ccRCC, T2-weighted images of orthotopic tumors of most PDX were homogeneous. The increased hyperintense (cystic) areas observed in one PDX mimicked the cystic phenotype typical of some RCC. The negligible hypointense (necrotic) areas of PDX grown under the highly vascularized renal capsule are beneficial for preclinical studies. Mean apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values were equivalent to those of ccRCC in human patients. Hyperpolarized (HP) [1-13C]pyruvate MRI of PDX showed high glycolytic activity typical of high-grade primary and metastatic ccRCC with considerable intra- and inter-tumoral variability, as has been observed in clinical HP MRI of ccRCC. Comparison of steady state metabolite concentrations and metabolic flux in [U-13C]glucose-labeled tumors highlighted the distinctive phenotypes of two PDX with elevated levels of numerous metabolites and increased fractional enrichment of lactate and/or glutamate, capturing the metabolic heterogeneity of glycolysis and the TCA cycle in clinical ccRCC. Culturing PDX cells and reimplanting to generate xenografts (XEN), or passaging PDX in vivo, altered some imaging and metabolic characteristics while transcription remained like that of the original PDX. These findings show that PDX are realistic models of ccRCC for imaging and metabolic studies but that the plasticity of metabolism must be considered when manipulating PDX for preclinical studies.
