The aim of this study was to investigate the antioxidant, antiradical activity of the Lycianthes rantonnetii (Solanacaeae) plant, to determine levels of element (Fe, Zn, Mn, Cu, Cr, Mo, Cd, As, Pb, Co, V, Tl, Li, Ti, Sr, Be), mineral (Mg, P) and vitamin (A, E, C). In the study, metals and mineral analyses were carried out using dry ashing method with ICP-OES, vitamin A and vitamin E analyses were carried out using the HPLC method and vitamin C, total phenol, flavonoids, antioxidant capacity, DPPH, ABTS, hydrogen peroxide, hydroxyl radicals scavenging activity and anti-hemolytic activity of the methanol extract Lycianthes rantonnetii (L. rantonnetii) plant was determined spectrophotometrically. According to the results, Cu, Zn, Co, Mg, retinol, -tocopherol, ascorbic acid, total antioxidant activity, phenolic and flavonoid contents of L. rantonnetii were 57.60  4.83 mol/kg, 0.14  0.01 mmol/kg, 2.23  0.10 mol/kg, 39.13  1.76 mmol/kg, 12.22 ± 3.37 μmol/kg, 104.55 ± 7.44 μmol/kg, 80.61 ± 9.31 mg/100 g, 11.45 ± 0.60 mM ascorbic acid/g, 5.33 ± 0.41 mg GA/g and 3.76 ± 0.29 mg QE/g, respectively. The results of this study showed that the content of antioxidant vitamins, minerals of the L. rantonnetii plant was at high levels and it contains a reasonable amount of total phenol, and flavonoids also, it was determined that the plant had a high scavenging activity for free radicals. It is believed that L. rantonnetii can be used as an additive for food products in the various food sectors with appropriate antioxidant activities.

This study aims to determine the employment status of the students who graduated from Ulus Vocational School (UMYO) between 2013-2020 and to reveal the graduate profile by evaluating the factors affecting their employment. No sampling method was used in the study, and all 456 graduates were tried to be reached. The data of the study were collected using the telephone survey method through the questionnaire created by the researchers. 51.9% of the graduates started working within one year. When their current employment status was evaluated, it was found that 62% of them worked in different sectors, and 38% of them did not work. Only 27% of employed graduates work in a job related to their department. Despite this, 91% of the students stated that they were satisfied with the education they received in the department. From the findings, suggestions have been developed for updating the curriculum to support the quality of vocational education given in UMYO and to increase the preferability of UMYO graduates in business life. In addition, the data of this study contributed to creating an alumni information system that can provide information about business life to students who will graduate from UMYO., Bu çalışmanın amacı; Ulus Meslek Yüksekokulu (UMYO)’ndan 2013-2020 yılları arasında mezun olan öğrencilerin çalışma durumlarının belirlenmesi ve istihdamlarını etkileyen faktörlerin değerlendirilmesi yoluyla mezun profilinin ortaya konmasıdır. Çalışmada örnekleme yoluna gidilmemiş ve 456 mezun öğrencinin tamamına ulaşılmaya çalışılmıştır. Çalışmanın verileri, araştırmacılar tarafından oluşturulan anket formu aracılığıyla telefonla anket yöntemi kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Mezunların %51,9’u da 1 yıl içinde çalışmaya başlamıştır. Mevcut çalışma durumları değerlendirildiğinde ise %62’sinin farklı sektörlerde çalıştığı ve %38’inin de çalışmadığı bulunmuştur. Çalışan mezunların sadece %27’si kendi bölümüyle ilgili işte çalışmaktadır. Buna rağmen öğrencilerin %91’i bölümde aldıkları eğitimden memnun kaldıklarını ifade etmişlerdir. Elde edilen bulgulardan UMYO’da verilen mesleki eğitimin kalitesinin arttırılmasına destek olmak ve UMYO mezunlarının iş hayatında tercih edilebilirliğini yükseltmek için öğretim programlarının güncellenmesine yönelik öneriler geliştirilmiştir. Ayrıca bu çalışmanın verileri ile UMYO’dan mezun olacak öğrencilere iş hayatıyla ilgili bilgiler verebilecek mezun bilgi sisteminin oluşturulmasına katkıda bulunulmuştur.

Since the services that protected areas offer become more understandable, the importance of these areas is increasing day by day throughout the world. Therefore, efforts to increase both the quality and the quantity of these areas have accelerated. On the other hand, economic gains desired from existing or potential protected areas can disrupt the protection of these resources. This study was carried out to investigate the protected area status of nature parks, which are managed for utilization rather than protection, in the regime of protected areas. Accordingly, nine nature parks in three provinces in the Western Black Sea Region were examined, current master plans were evaluated in terms of nature protection and surveys were conducted with users in the three nature parks that are open to use. According to the findings of the study these areas are mostly used for picnics. The fact that the nature parks are established in the forest is the most attractive side for the users. However, the majority of interviewed nature park users do not even know that the place they come is a protected area and thinks that the promotions of these parks are insufficient. Users do not even know which organization manages the nature parks. It is clearly seen that nature parks play an important role in the protection of nature in areas where absolute nature protection is not possible due to human-nature interaction. However, instantaneous political decisions regarding nature parks, regardless of knowledge, legislation and participation, cause the protection-use balance to shift towards the use in nature parks, and cause the right place of nature parks in the protected area regime to change negatively. In order to prevent this change, it is necessary for the nature parks to regain a management approach in which nature protection gains importance., Sunduğu hizmetlerin daha anlaşılır olmaya başlamasından dolayı korunan alanların önemi dünya genelinde her geçen gün daha da artmaktadır. Bundan dolayı bu alanların hem sayısını hem de niteliğini yükseltmeye yönelik çalışmalar hız kazanmıştır. Fakat diğer taraftan mevcut veya potansiyel korunan alanlardan elde edilmek istenen ekonomik kazanımlar, bu kaynakların korunmasını sekteye uğratabilmektedir. Bu çalışma; günümüzde korumadan çok kullanıma dönük olarak yönetilen tabiat parklarının korunan alan statülerinin korunan alanlar sistematiğindeki yerinin sorgulanması amacıyla yapılmıştır. Bu doğrultuda Batı Karadeniz Bölgesi’ndeki üç ilde bulunan 9 tabiat parkı incelenmiş, mevcut gelişme planları doğa koruma bakımından değerlendirilmiş ve kullanıma açık olan üç tabiat parkındaki kullanıcılarla anketler yapılmıştır. Çalışma bulgularına göre bu alanlar büyük bir oranda piknik yapmak için kullanılmaktadır. Tabiat parklarının orman içinde tesis edilmiş olması kullanıcılar için en çekici yandır. Ancak görüşülen tabiat parkı kullanıcılarının çoğunluğu geldikleri yerin bir korunan alan olduğunu dahi bilmemekte ve bu parklara ait tanıtımların yetersiz olduğunu düşünmektedir. Kullanıcılar tabiat parklarının hangi kuruluş tarafından yönetildiğini de bilmemektedir. Tabiat parklarının insan-doğa etkileşiminden dolayı mutlak doğa korumanın mümkün olmadığı alanlarda doğanın korunmasında önemli rol üstlendiği açıkça görülmektedir. Ancak bilgi birikimi, mevzuat ve katılım gözetilmeden, tabiat parklarıyla ilgili alınan anlık politik kararlar, tabiat parklarında koruma-kullanma dengesinin kullanmaya doğru kaymasına ve tabiat parklarının korunan alan sistematiğindeki doğru yerinin olumsuz yönde değişmesine neden olmaktadır. Bu değişimi önlemek için; tabiat parklarının doğa korumanın ağırlık kazandığı bir yönetim anlayışına yeniden kavuşturulması gerekmektedir.

Ormanların iklim değişikliğindeki rolünün toplum tarafından daha iyi anlaşılmasını sağlayacak çalışmalara ihtiyaç vardır. Bunun için medya önemli bir araçtır. Bu çalışma; iklim değişikliğiyle ormanlar ve ormansızlaşma arasındaki ilişkiyi medya aracılığıyla ortaya koymak ve bu haberlerin yeterliliğini sorgulamak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda; Türkiye’de seçilen altı gazetenin internet sitelerinde yer alan küresel iklim değişikliği ile ilgili haberlerin, Ocak 2009-Aralık 2018 tarihleri arasındaki 10 yıllık süreçte yıllar içindeki dağılımı ve bu haberlerdeki ormansızlaşmayla iklim değişikliği arasında kurulan ilişkiler incelenmiştir. Bulgulara göre; iklim değişikliği haberlerinin son yıllarda artış eğilimi içerisinde olduğu, fakat bu haberler içinde; “Orman, ağaç, bitki, biyolojik çeşitlilik, ormansızlaşma, yeşil alan vb.” haberlerin oranının sadece %12,4 oranında yer aldığı ortaya çıkmıştır. Ormanları veya ormansızlaşmayı ilişkilendiren haberlerin medyada yeterince yer bulmadığı, bundan öte sadece medyanın değil, dernek, vakıf ve platformlar ile uzman ve akademisyenlerin de ormanlarla iklim değişimi ilişkisini yeterince kuramadığı veya medya ve kamuoyuyla pek paylaşmadığı düşüncesine varılmıştır.

In this study, antioxidant properties, trace element and mineral composition of Dactylorhiza umbrosa (Kar. & Kir.) Nevski (Orchidaceae) grown in the East Anatolia Region of Turkey was determined. The concentrations of trace element and mineral were determined by using inductive paired plasma-optical emission spectrometer (ICP-OES). It has founded that the quantities of important trace elements Mn, Cu, Co and Se were high and also the quantity of the Mg mineral was quite high. Dactylorhiza umbrosa (Kar. & Kir.) Nevski plant's element quantities were determined to be Sr > Mg > V > Mn > Li > Ti > Cu > Se > Cr > Pb > Co > As > Be > Zn > Cd respectively. Total antioxidant activity, total phenolic and flavonoid contents were 12.44 ± 0.20 mM ascorbic acid g-1, 4.97 ± 0.48 mg gallic acid g-1 and 4.51 ± 0.29 mg quarcetin g-1 respectively in methanol extracts of Dactylorhiza umbrosa (Kar. & Kir.) Nevski plant. The presence of high levels of some trace elements, antioxidant activity, total phenolic and flavonoid contents in the methanol extract may have important to the showed antioxidant properties.

Bartın ve Kastamonu yörelerindeki çeşitli sivil toplum kuruluşlarının (STK) sunduğu beş proje, Küresel Çevre Fonu’nun (GEF) 2008-2012 yıllarını kapsayan Orman Koruma Alanları Yönetiminin Güçlendirilmesi Projesi (PIMS 1998) ve “Örnek Uygulamalar Programı” kapsamında desteklenmiştir. Bu çalışmada, projeleri desteklenen STK’ların deneyimlerinin incelenmesi ve desteklenen projelerin hangi oranda hayata geçirilebildiğinin araştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Bu kapsamda, söz konusu projelerin başvuru dosyaları ile ara dönem değerlendirme, saha ziyaret ve sonuç raporları incelenmiştir. Buna ek olarak, projelerin uygulandığı sahalarda yüz yüze görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu çalışmanın bulgularına göre, söz konusu projeler olan “Ekoturizm Tabanlı Ev Pansiyonculuğunun Geliştirilmesi”, “Elektrikli Çit ile Tarımsal Üretim Alanlarının Korunması”, “Tarımsal Ürün Pazarlamanın İyileştirilmesi”, “Geleneksel Kültürün Korunması ve Kadın Emeğinin Değerlendirilmesi”, “Keten İşlemeciliğinin Desteklenmesi” projelerinin tümünün başarıya ulaştığını ve yöre halkı tarafından sürdürüldüğünü söylemek çok güçtür. Bu tür projelerin hayata geçirilmesinin kolaylaştırılması ve sürdürülebilir kırsal kalkınmanın desteklenebilmesi için yöre halkının bu tür projelere daha etkin katılımını sağlayacak yöntemlerin geliştirilmesi gereklidir., Presented by various non-governmental organizations in Bartin and Kastamonu area, five projects were supported in the scope of Global Environment Fund's (GEF) Strengthening of Forest Protection Areas Management Project (PIMS 1998) and "Examplary Practices Program". In this study, it was aimed to investigate the experiences of those NGOs whose projects' were supported and the success rate of their projects. In this context, application dossiers of the supported projects, their interim reports, field visit reports and final reports were examined. In addition, face-to-face interviews were conducted in the areas where those five projects had been carried out. According to the findings of this study, it is very difficult to say that all of the above-mentioned namely, "Development of Ecotourism-based Home Boarding", "Protection of Agricultural Production Areas with Electric Fences", "Improving Marketing of Agricultural Products", "Protection of Traditional Culture and Utilisation of Women's Labor", "Supporting Linen Processing" have been successful and have been continued to be sustainably by the local people. It is necessary to improve the methods that aim for more effective participation of the local people in such projects in order to facilitate implementation of such projects and to support sustainable rural development.

This study presents the phytochemical profile and in vitro and in vivo anticonvulsant and antioxidant activities of Epilobium hirsutum, which has been traditionally used in the treatment of epilepsy by local people of Turkey. In vitro studies revealed that the extract contained a pronounced amount of phenolics (206.3±0.9 mg Gallic acid Eq/g extract) and exhibited significant levels of antioxidant (FRAP; 6226 µmol Fe2+/g extract, ORAC; 6593 µmol Trolox Eq/g extract, DPPH; IC50:33.8 ug/mL and metal chelation; IC50:114 ug/mL) and anticonvulsant (AChE; IC50:71.2 ug/mL, BChE; IC50:92.5 ug/mL, GABA-T; IC50:94.7 ug/mL) activities. In vivo studies shown that the extract exhibited high anticonvulsant activities. In addition, the extracts regulated the behaviour, locomotion and mental activities of the mice tested. Biochemical evaluation of the brain tissue revealed that the extract inhibited the production of MDA and stimulated the increasing of antioxidant enzyme levels, which suggest the possible antioxidative role of the extract that worked as neuroprotective agents by scarfing the free radicals produced through PTZ seizure inducer and attenuate convulsions. Moreover the extract regulated serum biochemical parameters, total antioxidant, total oxidant, and ischemia-modified albumin levels. Chromatographic studies were revealed that gallic acid principally might be the major contributor of anticonvulsant and antioxidant activities with the additive contributions of fatty acids and mineral compounds. Findings obtained from this study partially justified the traditional use of Epilobium hirsutum in the treatment of epilepsy and suggest potential use of the extract as industrial or pharmaceutical agent.

Dünyada olduğu gibi ülkemizde de korunan alanlardaki orman, su, yaban hayatı, mera vb. doğal varlıkların kullanımı, korunması ve yönetimi konularında çeşitli çatışmalar yaşanmaktadır. Korunan alanlarda çatışma yönetimi ilk kez 1992’de Venezuela Caracas’ta düzenlenen “IV. Dünya Milli Parklar ve Korunan Alanlar Kongresi’nde uluslararası öneme sahip bir toplantı düzeyinde tartışılmaya başlanmıştır. Süreç içinde çatışma yönetimi konusunda çeşitli yöntemler uygulanmaya ve çatışmanın çözümüne yönelik farklı adımlar atılmaya başlanmıştır. Bu çalışmanın temel amacı; Türkiye’deki korunan alanlarda yaşanan çatışmaların nedenlerini belirleyerek, çatışmanın konularını, taraflarını ve sonuçlarını analiz etmektir. Bu amaçla; Türkiye’de korunan alanlarda yaşanan çatışmaların neler olduğu, bu çatışmaların hangi bölgelerde öne çıktığı ve hangi şekilde yönetildiği konuları irdelenmeye çalışılmıştır. Bu kapsamda 18 Nisan 2007-22 Aralık 2017 tarihleri arasında ulusal ve yerel basında ve 2012-2017 tarihleri arasında Tarım ve Orman Bakanlığı’nın 15 bölge müdürlüğüne ait internet sitelerinde yer alan haberler incelenmiş ve korunan alanlarda yaşanan çatışmalar hakkında çeşitli veriler Belgesel Tarama Yöntemi ile elde edilmiş ve İçerik Analizi’yle analiz edilmiştir. Bulgulara göre: Türkiye’de de korunan alanlarda yaşanan çatışmaların özellikle yaban hayatı, orman ve su kaynaklarının paylaşılması ve turizm konularında öne çıktığı tespit edilmiştir. Daha çok yaban hayvanları konusunda yaşanan çatışmaların haberlerde yer bulduğu dikkati çekmektedir. Orman kaynakları konusundaki çatışmalar daha çok biyokaçakçılık konularında ağırlık kazanırken, su kaynakları konusunda ise su kaynaklarının durumu ve HES’ler konusunda yaşanan çatışmalar ağırlık kazanmaktadır. Turizm konusunda alan kılavuzluğu ve turizm etkinliklerinin planlanması sürecinde çatışmalar yaşandığı belirlenmiştir. There are various conflicts in the use, conservation and management of natural assets such as forests, water, wildlife, pasture etc. in protected areas in our country as well as in the world. Conflict management in protected areas was first discussed at a meeting of international importance in the "IV. World Congress of National Parks and Protected Areas" held in Caracas, Venezuela in 1992. In the process, various methods for conflict management have been implemented and different steps have been taken to solve the conflict. The main purpose of this study is to analyze the issues, parts and the results of conflict by identifying the causes of conflicts in protected areas in Turkey. For this reason, what the conflicts in protected areas in Turkey are, the areas in which these conflicts came to the fore and the ways in which they were managed were examined. Within this scope, the news on the websites of the 15 regional directorates of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry between the dates 2012-2017 and the news in the national and local media were examined between 18 April 2007 and 22 December 2017 and various data about the conflicts in the protected areas were obtained by the method of Document Analysis and analyzed with Content Analysis. According to the findings, it was determined that the conflicts in the protected areas in Turkey were particularly prominent in wildlife, sharing of forest and water resources, and tourism. It is noteworthy that the conflicts about wild animals have took place more in the news. While the conflicts about forest resources are mostly focused on bio-trafficking issues, situation of the water resources and the conflicts about hydro-electric power plants (HEPPs) are gaining importance in terms of water resources. It was determined that the conflicts in the field of tourism took place during field guidance and planning of tourism activities.

In this study, changes in serum total sialic acid (TSA) and lipid-bound sialic acid (LSA) levels were examined in chronically exposed rats to 7,12-dimethylbenz(a)anthracene (DMBA) and fluoride. This study demonstrated that the TSA, LSA levels increased more in DMBA-treated groups compared to the fluoride treated groups. The result obtained has shown that the harmful effect of DMBA which is also causing more cell membrane damage on human and animal health should be taken into consideration.
