35. The Importance of Peer Review.

Abstract

The article discusses the concept of peer review as a system by which manuscripts submitted for publication are evaluated using outside peers who comment on the merit, originality and significance of the manuscript. The peer review practice has been part of publishing as evidenced by the presentation of papers by scientists before groups of colleagues. Rejection rates vary by discipline and journal as exemplified by journals such as "Nature" and "Science" which reject a large number of manuscripts due to the many submissions they receive.
