Engaging in regular exercise and physical activity contributes to delaying the onset of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). However, the physiological mechanisms underlying the benefits of regular exercise or physical activity in CVDs remain unclear. The disruption of mitochondrial homeostasis is implicated in the pathological process of CVDs. Exercise training effectively delays the onset and progression of CVDs by significantly ameliorating the disruption of mitochondrial homeostasis. This includes improving mitochondrial biogenesis, increasing mitochondrial fusion, decreasing mitochondrial fission, promoting mitophagy, and mitigating mitochondrial morphology and function. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the benefits of physical exercise in the context of CVDs, establishing a connection between the disruption of mitochondrial homeostasis and the onset of these conditions. Through a detailed examination of the underlying molecular mechanisms within mitochondria, the study illuminates how exercise can provide innovative perspectives for future therapies for CVDs.

This study used Armillaria mellea 07-22 as the experimental strain to degrade zearalenone (ZEN) by fungal biological fermentation. The degradation effects of Armillaria mellea on ZEN were studied, including the degradation effects of different concentrations of ZEN by the strain and the effects of different culture time, culture temperature, initial pH value and inoculation amount on the degradation of ZEN by the strain. Then the degradation mechanism was explored, the degradation effects of mycelium, fermentation supernatant and cell contents on ZEN were analyzed, and the effects of different fermentation time, pH values, and metal ions on degradation of ZEN by fermentation supernatant were studied, and the correlation between degradation effect and laccase production activity of the strain was illustrated. The results showed that Armillaria mellea 07-22 had a good degradation effect on ZEN. When the ZEN concentration was 5 μg/mL, the optimal degradation conditions were culture time of 8 days, culture temperature of 27 ℃, initial pH of 7.0, and inoculation amount of 10%. At this time, the degradation rate of ZEN was 78.72%. The degradation rates of ZEN by mycelium, fermentation supernatant and cell contents were 47.42%, 37.05% and 13.08% respectively. The extracellular enzymes secreted by Am-07-22 were the main way to degrade ZEN, and the mycelium cells also had a certain adsorption effect on ZEN. In addition, the correlation between the degradation rate of ZEN by fermentation supernatant and laccase activity was 0.973, and Cu2+ had the best promoting effect on the degradation of ZEN by fermentation supernatant.

There is a notable correlation between mitochondrial homeostasis and metabolic disruption. In this review, we report that obesity-induced disruption of mitochondrial homeostasis adversely affects lipid metabolism, adipocyte differentiation, oxidative capacity, inflammation, insulin sensitivity, and thermogenesis in thermogenic fat. Elevating mitochondrial homeostasis in thermogenic fat emerges as a promising avenue for developing treatments for metabolic diseases, including enhanced mitochondrial function, mitophagy, mitochondrial uncoupling, and mitochondrial biogenesis. The exerkines (e.g., myokines, adipokines, batokines) released during exercise have the potential to ameliorate mitochondrial homeostasis, improve glucose and lipid metabolism, and stimulate fat browning and thermogenesis as a defense against obesity-associated metabolic diseases. This comprehensive review focuses on the manifold benefits of exercise-induced exerkines, particularly emphasizing their influence on mitochondrial homeostasis and fat thermogenesis in the context of metabolic disorders associated with obesity.

Abstract Objective The objective of this study was to report and discuss clinical analysis, including the diagnosis and treatment of 4 cases of neuromyelitis optica spectrum disease (NMOSD) with area postrema syndrome (APS) as the first symptom. Methods Four patients with intractable nausea, vomiting, and confirmed NMOSD were included in the final analysis. All of these patients were initially misdiagnosed and mismanaged. Results Among the 4 patients, 3 were admitted to the department of gastroenterology at the onset of the disease, and 2 were not correctly diagnosed and treated promptly due to misdiagnosis. Therefore, their symptoms worsened, and they were transferred to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for life support. No obvious early medulla lesions were found in one patient. One patient was treated with intravenous immunoglobulin, methylprednisolone, and plasma exchange, but there was no significant clinical improvement, after which the disease relapsed during the treatment with low-dose rituximab. Conclusion The clinical manifestations of NMOSD are complex and diverse, and the initial symptoms, onset age of the patient, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings can influence the final diagnosis. Early identification of the APS and timely therapy can prevent visual and physical disabilities, even respiratory failure, coma, and cardiac arrest. Therefore, it is necessary to identify specific and sensitive serum and imaging markers for predicting the prognosis and recurrence of the disease.

Adipose tissue undergoes changes with aging, leading to increased adiposity, inflammatory cell infiltration, reduced angiogenesis, heightened oxidative stress, and alterations in its metabolic function. Regular exercise has been recognized as a powerful intervention that can positively influence adipose tissue health and mitigate the effects of aging. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the benefits of regular exercise on aging adipose tissue function remain poorly understood. Adipokines released through regular exercise play a potential role in mitigating adipose tissue aging, enhancing the metabolism of glucose and lipids, reducing inflammation and fibrosis, and promoting fat browning and thermogenesis. This review comprehensively summarizes the benefits of regular exercise in addressing the age-related decline in adipose tissue function. Utilizing relevant examples of this approach, we address the possibility of designing therapeutic interventions based on these molecular mechanisms.

Whipple's disease is a very rare systemic infectious disease, and very few cases have been reported. However, it can be fatal if not diagnosed and treated appropriately. The major clinical manifestations of this disease are usually digestive and nervous system symptoms. The majority of patients are male and between 40 and 50 years old. Although respiratory symptoms of this disease have rarely been reported, they pose a serious threat to the lives of the patients, especially when they progress to severe pneumonia. During admission to the hospital, Acinetobacter baumannii infection makes treatment more difficult. While most patients are middle-aged men, more attention should be given to the diagnosis and treatment of affected young women. To our knowledge, the case presented in the study is the first case of Tropheryma whipplei infection that resulted in severe pneumonia and was complicated by A. baumannii infection during treatment. We hope that our study can serve as a reference for the diagnosis and treatment of related cases in the future.

Painting, music, literature, and other art forms embody the essence of human wisdom and induce esthetic experience, among which poetry is inherently creative, because it contains a wealth of symbols, imageries, insights, and so forth. The appreciation and learning of Chinese poetry is an important part of the curriculum in secondary schools. However, studies have mainly focused on textual characters of poetry, with little literature focusing on esthetic appreciation and in-depth learning of poetry. In this vein, we ask whether emotional designs will promote the appreciation and learning of Chinese poetry. To answer this question, we explored the influence of the combination of external emotion induction (positive and neutral movie clips) and internal colorful design (chromatic and achromatic) on esthetic preference and learning of poetry. One hundred and sixty-six participants (14–15 years old) were randomly assigned to one of four conditions created by two factors (external emotion induction and internal colorful design). The results showed that the combination of external emotion induction and internal colorful design promoted positive emotions, retention, and transfer performances of learners. Furthermore, perceived difficulty of learners decreased significantly when external emotional induction and internal colorful design were both positive. Consequently, these findings indicated that emotional designs in multimedia facilitated the learning performance of middle school students in Chinese poetry, and supported the cognitive-affective theory of learning with media. This research was a preliminary exploration of emotional design in humanities.

Background & Aims: Obesity promotes the development of nonalcoholic fatty liver diseases (NAFLDs), yet not all obese patients develop NAFLD. The underlying causes for this discrepancy remain elusive. LPGAT1 is an acyltransferase that catalyzes the remodeling of phosphatidylglycerol (PG), a mitochondrial phospholipid implicated in various metabolic diseases. Here, we investigated the role of LPGAT1 in regulating the onset of diet-induced obesity and its related hepatosteatosis because polymorphisms of the LPGAT1 gene promoter were strongly associated with susceptibility to obesity in Pima Indians. Methods: Mice with whole-body knockout of LPGAT1 were generated to investigate the role of PG remodeling in NAFLD. Results: LPGAT1 deficiency protected mice from diet-induced obesity, but led to hepatopathy, insulin resistance, and NAFLD as a consequence of oxidative stress, mitochondrial DNA depletion, and mitochondrial dysfunction. Conclusions: This study identified an unexpected role of PG remodeling in obesity, linking mitochondrial dysfunction to NAFLD. The increasing popularity of Morinda citrifolia has many medical and health benefits because of its rich polysaccharides (PSC) and polyphenols (PPN). It has become popular to brew the dry M. citrifolia fruit slice as tea in some regions of China. In this study, optimize the extraction parameters of M. citrifolia fruit tea polysaccharides and polyphenols using response surface methodology. The results indicated the highest PSC yield of 17% at 46 °C for 11 min and the ratio of water/M. citrifolia fruit powder was 78 mL/g. The optimum extraction of PPN was at 95 °C for 10 min and the ratio of water/M. citrifolia fruit powder 90 mL/g, with 8.93% yield. Using dry M. citrifolia fruit slices as a tea is reported for the first time. Based on the results, the maximum level of PSC can be obtained under condition by infusing about four dried M. citrifolia fruit slice with average thickness and size in warm boiled water for 11 min, taking a 300 mL cup (300 mL of water) for example. The maximum level of PPN can be obtained by adding three slices of dried M. citrifolia fruit slice to boiled water for 10 min. Considering the powder used in our study, the further pulverization of cutting into powder is more conducive to material precipitation. This study provides a scientific basis for obtaining PSC and PPN from dry M. citrifolia fruit slice tea by brewing.

When humans are confronted with an epidemic situation or a continuous natural disaster, success depends largely on how critical information is conveyed to as many people as possible, how individuals' emotional experiences of the crisis are elicited, and how their behaviors are directed going forward. Efficient publicity is key to successful epidemic prevention and control. This study explores the role of creative publicity by comparing the influence of creative publicity and general publicity in different periods of the COVID-19 outbreak in China. The effects of creative and general publicity differed across varying periods of the COVID-19 outbreak. Specifically, compared to general publicity, creative publicity had a significant impact on individuals' emotional arousal in the early period of the COVID-19 outbreak while it significantly promoted individuals' emotional arousal, behavioral regulation, and willingness to actively disseminate information in the middle period. In the stable period of the COVID-19 outbreak, creative publicity performed better than general publicity in regulating individuals' behavior. On the other hand, general publicity was more effective than creative publicity in regulating individuals' behavior and actively disseminating information about the epidemic in the early period of the COVID-19 outbreak. In conclusion, creative and general publicity had differing effects in different periods of the COVID-19 outbreak, which may relate to the characteristics of the publicity format and people's psychological conditions in different periods of the COVID-19 outbreak.

This study explored how corporate social responsibility (CSR) risk, social networks, and firm performance interacted in light of resource dependence theory and information asymmetry theory to bridge the literature gap between CSR risk and firm performance under the conditions of China’s network. We used data from Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share listed firms in China from 2010 to 2019 to conduct a social network analysis and random-effects GLS regression analysis. The study revealed the following: (1) CSR risk hurts financial performance, while structural holes and network density attenuate this effect; (2) CSR risk positively impacts capital performance, which is amplified by closeness centrality; (3) CSR risk harms innovation performance, while betweenness centrality and network density mitigate this effect. Despite CSR risk bringing short-term benefits, this effect is not sustained. Generally, CSR risks are more detrimental to firms than beneficial. In this study, we strengthen the basis of the research on CSR risk and firm performance, along with research on social networks, advising firms to avoid CSR risks and utilize their networks to mitigate such risks and achieve a better performance.

Fusarium graminearum is a notorious pathogen that causes Fusarium head blight (FHB) in cereal crops. It produces secondary metabolites, such as deoxynivalenol, diminishing grain quality and leading to lesser crop yield. Many strategies have been developed to combat this pathogenic fungus; however, considering the lack of resistant cultivars and likelihood of environmental hazards upon using chemical pesticides, efforts have shifted toward the biocontrol of plant diseases, which is a sustainable and eco-friendly approach. Fengycin, derived from Bacillus amyloliquefaciens FZB42, was purified from the crude extract by HPLC and further analyzed by MALDI-TOF-MS. Its application resulted in structural deformations in fungal hyphae, as observed via scanning electron microscopy. In planta experiment revealed the ability of fengycin to suppress F. graminearum growth and highlighted its capacity to combat disease incidence. Fengycin significantly suppressed F. graminearum, and also reduced the deoxynivalenol (DON), 3-acetyldeoxynivalenol (3-ADON), 15-acetyldeoxynivalenol (15-ADON), and zearalenone (ZEN) production in infected grains. To conclude, we report that fengycin produced by B. amyloliquefaciens FZB42 has potential as a biocontrol agent against F. graminearum and can also inhibit the mycotoxins produced by this fungus.

As a new kind of highly compact and efficient micro-channel heat exchanger, the printed circuit heat exchanger (PCHE) is a promising candidate satisfying the heat exchange requirements of liquefied natural gas (LNG) vaporization at low and high pressure. The effects of airfoil fin arrangement on heat transfer and flow resistance were numerically investigated using supercritical liquefied natural gas (LNG) as working fluid. The thermal properties of supercritical LNG were tested by utilizing the REFPROF software database. Numerical simulations were performed using FLUENT. The inlet temperature of supercritical LNG was 121 K, and its pressure was 10.5 MPa. The reference mass flow rate of LNG was set as 1.22 g/s for the vertical pitch Lv = 1.67 mm and the staggered pitch Ls = 0 mm, with the Reynolds number of about 3750. The SST k-ω model was selected and verified by comparing with the experimental data using supercritical liquid nitrogen as cold fluid. The airfoil fin PCHE had better thermal-hydraulic performance than that of the straight channel PCHE. Moreover, the airfoil fins with staggered arrangement displayed better thermal performance than that of the fins with parallel arrangement. The thermal-hydraulic performance of airfoil fin PCHE was improved with increasing Ls and Lv. Moreover, Lv affected the Nusselt number and pressure drop of airfoil fin PCHE more obviously. In conclusion, a sparser staggered arrangement of fins showed a better thermal-hydraulic performance in airfoil fin PCHE.

We present measurements of photoionization cross-sections of the excited states of cobalt using a two-color, two-step resonance ionization technique in conjunction with a molecular beam time of flight (TOF) mass spectrometer. The atoms were produced by the laser vaporization of a cobalt rod, coupled with a supersonic gas jet. The absolute photoionization cross-sections at threshold and near-threshold regions (0-1.2 eV) were measured, and the measured values ranged from 4.2±0.7 Mb to 10.5±1.8 Mb. The lifetimes of four odd parity energy levels are reported for the first time.

Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) also known as Machado-Joseph Disease (MJD), is one of nine polyglutamine (polyQ) diseases caused by a CAG-trinucelotide repeat expansion within the coding sequence of the ATXN3 gene. There are no disease-modifying treatments for polyQ diseases. Recent studies suggest that an imbalance in histone acetylation may be a key process leading to transcriptional dysregulation in polyQ diseases. Because of this possible imbalance, the application of histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors may be feasible for the treatment of polyQ diseases. To further explore the therapeutic potential of HDAC inhibitors, we constructed two independent preclinical trials with valproic acid (VPA), a promising therapeutic HDAC inhibitor, in both Drosophila and cell SCA3 models. We demonstrated that prolonged use of VPA at specific dose partly prevented eye depigmentation, alleviated climbing disability, and extended the average lifespan of SCA3/MJD transgenic Drosophila. We found that VPA could both increase the acetylation levels of histone H3 and histone H4 and reduce the early apoptotic rate of cells without inhibiting the aggregation of mutant ataxin-3 proteins in MJDtr-Q68- expressing cells. These results collectively support the premise that VPA is a promising therapeutic agent for the treatment of SCA3 and other polyQ diseases.

In order to effectively reduce the vibration of the product in the process of transportation, the cushioning pad is applied in the packaging of the computer case, which can not only greatly reduce the cost of the cushioning packaging design, but also promote the sales of the product. The vibration response of the key components in the computer case was tested and analyzed under the conditions of force hammer experiment and random vibration experiment, and the direct transmission rate of the buffer liner system to the key components was obtained. The excitation of three vibration levels of the standard truck vibration spectrum was used to simulate the excitation of different intensities in actual transportation, and the excitation acceleration power spectrum was obtained. The direct transmission rate quantified the vibration transmission characteristics of each buffer pad to the key components, and the size of the direct transmission rate reflected the degree of vibration energy absorption of each buffer pad to the key components. The critical buffer pad was optimized to absorb more vibration energy by increasing the buffer area of the critical buffer pad, reducing its vibration transmission capacity in the main resonance area. Abstract Background Pitt–Hopkins syndrome (PTHS) is a rare genetic condition caused by a mutation in the transcription Factor 4 (TCF4) gene and characterized by its unique clinical presentations. At present, there is an incomplete understanding of the possible TCF4 mutations and their downstream consequences, and no reliable treatment exists for patients with PTHS. Elucidating the variations in TCF4 occurring in PTHS could lead to new treatment ideas. Case presentation We described the clinical and genetic characteristics of four Chinese patients with PTHS. Genetic mutations related to central nervous system (CNS) disorders were identified via high-throughput sequencing. The patient’s mutations were subsequently confirmed with Sanger sequencing. Most patients had facial features typical of PTHS; however, Patient 2 demonstrated poor auricle shape. Each patient presented with differing levels of delayed development and intellectual impairment. The patients showed a splice site mutation in intron 15 of TCF4 (c.1452 + 3A > G), a frameshift mutation in exon 18 of TCF4 (c.1942delA), and two missense mutations in exon 19 of TCF4 (c. 2147C > T and c.2026A > G). Conclusions We discovered four new TCF4 mutations in Chinese children with PTHS. To our knowledge, the c.2026A > G and c.1942delA mutations have not yet been reported. The detection of these mutations can help accurately diagnose PTHS early, especially in patients whose clinical symptoms are not obvious. Exploring the genotype and phenotype of individuals with PTHS, will enrich our understanding and guide further research into the role of TCH4.

Sodium-ion batteries are expected to gradually replace lithium-ion batteries in large-scale energy storage and two-wheeled electric vehicles because of their excellent low-temperature performance, cost advantages, and high safety. The development of sodium-ion battery anode materials with low cost, high reversible capacity, and excellent cycling stability is challenging for the industry. Because sodium ions are larger than lithium ions, graphite materials with long-range ordered structures suitable for lithium-ion battery anodes cannot be applied to sodium-ion batteries. Instead, the graphite domains of hard carbon materials are short and chaotically aligned, exhibiting a short-range ordered structure with local graphite zones inside the carbon layer. Moreover, the layer spacing of hard carbon is larger than that of graphite, which is conducive to the storage of sodium ions. Hard carbon is easily accessible and environmentally friendly, with a high carbon yield. Biomass-based hard carbon has attracted considerable attention because of its abundant raw material sources, low cost, easy accessibility, high carbon yield, environmental friendliness, and the presence of various elements. Its unique microstructure exhibits notable advantages and great commercial potential among several anode materials for sodium-ion batteries. The storage mechanism of sodium ions in hard carbon is controversial. Herein, we first analyze the adsorption behavior of sodium ions at the active sites on the hard carbon surface and the sequential process of their entry into the graphite scale layer. Moreover, we review four controversial sodium-ion storage mechanisms. Furthermore, we explore the storage mechanism of sodium ions in hard carbon and the differences between various biomass-based precursors. The content of each component and microstructure of different precursors vary, and several differences exist between nutshells, woody plants, and herbs. Their internal structural characteristics and different component contents play a key role in the performance of hard carbon. We enumerate the structural and component differences among various biomass-based precursors and summarize the distinctions in sodium-ion storage properties among different precursor hard carbons. To enhance the sodium storage performance of biomass-based hard carbon, an optimization strategy is proposed for sodium-ion battery anodes. This strategy involves manipulating the microstructure of the hard carbon anode, including adjusting the carbon layer spacing, pore structure, and specific surface area. In addition, the doping of elements, introduction of functional groups, and optimization of the electrolyte can improve the sodium storage performance of hard carbon. These insights can provide significant guidance for developing sodium-ion batteries.

Abstract Background Frailty is a multifactorial syndrome; through this study, we aimed to investigate the physiological, psychological, and social factors associated with frailty and frailty worsening in community-dwelling older adults. Methods We conducted a cross-sectional and longitudinal study using data from the “Community Empowerment and Well-Being and Healthy Long-term Care: Evidence from a Cohort Study (CEC),” which focuses on community dwellers aged 65 and above in Japan. The sample of the cross-sectional study was drawn from a CEC study conducted in 2014 with a total of 673 participants. After excluding those who were frail during the baseline assessment (2014) and at the 3-year follow-up (2017), the study included 373 participants. Frailty assessment was extracted from the Kihon Checklist, while social relationships were assessed using the Social Interaction Index (ISI). Variable selection was performed using Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) regression and their predictive abilities were tested. Factors associated with frailty status and worsening were identified through the Maximum-min Hillclimb algorithm applied to Bayesian networks (BNs). Results At baseline, 14.1% (95 out of 673) participants were frail, and 24.1% (90 out of 373) participants experienced frailty worsening at the 3-years follow up. LASSO regression identified key variables for frailty. For frailty identification (cross-sectional), the LASSO model’s AUC was 0.943 (95%CI 0.913–0.974), indicating good discrimination, with Hosmer–Lemeshow (H–L) test p = 0.395. For frailty worsening (longitudinal), the LASSO model’s AUC was 0.722 (95%CI 0.656–0.788), indicating moderate discrimination, with H–L test p = 0.26. The BNs found that age, multimorbidity, function status, and social relationships were parent nodes directly related to frailty. It revealed an 85% probability of frailty in individuals aged 75 or older with physical dysfunction, polypharmacy, and low ISI scores; however, if their social relationships and polypharmacy status improve, the probability reduces to 50.0%. In the longitudinal-level frailty worsening model, a 75% probability of frailty worsening in individuals aged 75 or older with declined physical function and ISI scores was noted; however, if physical function and ISI improve, the probability decreases to 25.0%. Conclusion Frailty and its progression are prevalent among community-dwelling older adults and are influenced by various factors, including age, physical function, and social relationships. BNs facilitate the identification of interrelationships among these variables, quantify the influence of key factors. However, further research is required to validate the proposed model.

In light of the small ring strain of five/six-membered cyclic ethers, constructing complex molecules via ring-opening reactions has consistently been a highly challenging topic in organic synthesis. Induced by Lewis acids, the charge redistribution in cyclic ethers forms oxonium ylide intermediates, thereby activating the C–O bond and subsequently facilitating nucleophilic attack for ring opening. In recent years, a variety of novel Lewis acids, encompassing those with new metal centers and frustrated Lewis pairs (FLPs), have been effectively utilized to induce the formation of oxonium ylides, offering a diverse array of methods for the ring opening of five/six-membered cyclic ethers. This review conveys the extensive application advancements of diverse Lewis acid types for cyclic ether ring-opening reactions over the past two decades, originating from the perspective of the classification of Lewis acids. Furthermore, the substrate applicability and chemical transformation efficiency of these Lewis acids in the ring-opening reactions of cyclic ethers have also been discussed herein.

Abstract Background Chromosomal 16p11.2 deletions and duplications are genomic disorders which are characterized by neurobehavioral abnormalities, obesity, congenital abnormalities. However, the prenatal phenotypes associated with 16p11.2 copy number variations (CNVs) have not been well characterized. This study aimed to provide an elaborate summary of intrauterine phenotypic features for these genomic disorders. Methods Twenty prenatal amniotic fluid samples diagnosed with 16p11.2 microdeletions/microduplications were obtained from pregnant women who opted for invasive prenatal testing. Karyotypic analysis and chromosomal microarray analysis (CMA) were performed in parallel. The pregnancy outcomes and health conditions of all cases after birth were followed up. Meanwhile, we made a pooled analysis of the prenatal phenotypes in the published cases carrying 16p11.2 CNVs. Results 20 fetuses (20/20,884, 0.10%) with 16p11.2 CNVs were identified: five had 16p11.2 BP2-BP3 deletions, 10 had 16p11.2 BP4-BP5 deletions and five had 16p11.2 BP4-BP5 duplications. Abnormal ultrasound findings were recorded in ten fetuses with 16p11.2 deletions, with various degrees of intrauterine phenotypic features observed. No ultrasound abnormalities were observed in any of the 16p11.2 duplications cases during the pregnancy period. Eleven cases with 16p11.2 deletions terminated their pregnancies. For 16p11.2 duplications, four cases gave birth to healthy neonates except for one case that was lost to follow-up. Conclusions Diverse prenatal phenotypes, ranging from normal to abnormal, were observed in cases with 16p11.2 CNVs. For 16p11.2 BP4-BP5 deletions, abnormalities of the vertebral column or ribs and thickened nuchal translucency were the most common structural and non-structural abnormalities, respectively. 16p11.2 BP2-BP3 deletions might be closely associated with fetal growth restriction and single umbilical artery. No characteristic ultrasound findings for 16p11.2 duplications have been observed to date. Given the variable expressivity and incomplete penetrance of 16p11.2 CNVs, long-term follow-up after birth should be conducted for these cases.

Background: Maternal adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) may lead to increased behavioural problems in children. However, the mediating roles of psychological distress and corporal punishment, two common mechanisms underlying the intergenerational transmission of maternal ACEs, in these relations have not been examined in Chinese samples. Multigenerational homes (MGH) are the dominate living arrangement in China; however, limited research focuses on the effects of MGHs on the intergenerational transmission of maternal ACEs.Objective: This study explored the parallel mediating effects of corporal punishment and psychological distress on the association between maternal ACEs and children’s behaviour and whether MGHs can strengthen or weaken the relationship between maternal ACEs and corporal punishment or psychological distress.Participants and setting: Participants were 643 three-year-old children and their mothers (mean age of 32.85 years, SD = 3.79) from Wuhu, China.Methods: Mothers completed online questionnaires measuring ACEs, psychological distress, corporal punishment, their family structure, and children’s behavioural problems. This study used a moderated mediation model.Results: The findings suggest that psychological distress and corporal punishment mediate the association between maternal ACEs and children’s behavioural problems. The mediating role of corporal punishment was found depend on whether mothers and their children reside in MGHs. MGHs were not found to have a moderating role in the indirect relationship between maternal ACEs and children’s behaviour problems via psychological distress.Conclusion: Our findings highlight the importance of addressing psychological distress and corporal punishment when designing interventions targeted Chinese mothers exposed to ACEs and their children, especially those living in MGHs.

Study region: Heihe River Basin (HRB), Northwest China. Study focus: The study proposes an analytical scheme to identify trend, periodicity, and scale-correlation in climate, water, land, and vegetation resources over the past four decades using multivariate remote sensing data. New hydrological insights for the region: Heat and precipitation resources in the HRB have increased at rates of 14.27℃ yr−1 and 1.26 mm yr−1, respectively. The glacier area has decreased by 47.47 %. Additionally, the increase in upstream precipitation (2.82 mm yr−1) and glacier meltwater effectively replenishes runoff, soil water, and groundwater. The implementation of the ecological water diversion project (EWDP) in 2000 has contributed to enhancing runoff and lake storage capacity. The 9.28 % increase in vegetation cover (including cropland, forest, grassland, and shrubland) indicates an improvement in the hydrothermal conditions of the HRB. Additionally, the magnitude and direction of interactions among various natural resources vary across multiple spatial scales and time scales. The effect of hydrothermal coupling on vegetation is more prominent at the interdecadal scale. Vegetation growth in the upstream area is primarily influenced by thermal condition, while moisture plays a significant role in the midstream and downstream areas. Knowledge from this study contributes to the informed allocation of natural resources and offer policymakers valuable insights to enhance eco-environmental sustainability.

AbstractWe conducted an analysis of the complete mitochondrial genome of Rhipicephalus haemaphysaloides, a tick species known for transmitting various bacteria and viruses. The mitochondrial genome of R. haemaphysaloides has a length of 14,739 bp and consists of 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs), 2 ribosomal RNA genes (rRNAs), and 2 control regions. By utilizing the maximum likelihood method, we established the phylogenetic relationship among R. haemaphysaloides and other species within the Rhipicephalus genus of the Ixodidae family. This analysis revealed that R. haemaphysaloides and other Rhipicephalus species belong to the same clade, further affirming the taxonomic placement of R. haemaphysaloides within the Rhipicephalus genus. Furthermore, we compared the mitochondrial genomes of R. haemaphysaloides isolates from Changning, Yunnan Province, China, with isolates from Yangxin, Ganzhou, and Yingtan, Hubei Province, China. In summary, our investigation offers genetic proof endorsing the taxonomic categorization and phylogenetic placement of Ixodidae by assessing the entire mitochondrial genome of R. haemaphysaloides.
