The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of nanoparticles (nanospheres and nanocapsules) of the promising antifungal 2-amino-thiophene (6CN10) and 6CN10 complexed with 2-hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (6CN10:HP-β-CD) in vitro and compared with free drug against Candida and Cryptococcus, using a microdilution method to measure susceptibility. The Candida and Cryptococcus clinical strains were identified using phenotypic methods and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight (MALDI-TOF). To measure in vitro antifungal susceptibility, we used microdilution trials. Serial drug or nanoparticle dilutions were prepared according to the CLSI M27-A3 guidelines. Anti-biofilm activity was verified for Cryptococcus neoformans. All Candida isolates were sensitive to the free drug (MIC = 41.66-333.33 μg/mL) and were able to grow even at the higher concentration tested for all 6CN10 nanoparticles. However, the Cryptococcus neoformans strains presented MIC values of 0.32-83.33 μg/mL for 6CN10 nanoparticles, and MIC values of 0.1-0.2 μg/mL for 6CN10:HP-β-CD nanoparticles, i.e., 3333 times more active than the free drug (MIC values 166.66-333.33 μg/mL), and presenting activity greater than that of the reference drug amphotericin B (MIC = 0.5-0.125 μg/mL). 6CN10:HP-β-CD nanosphere also showed high anti-biofilm potential. The in vitro study showed that the nanoparticles allowed better drug efficiency against Cryptococcus than did the free drug. These results suggest that 6CN10-loaded nanoparticles may become a future alternative for cryptococcosis and candidiasis therapy. In vivo experiments are essential prior to clinical use.

O objetivo do presente estudo foi avaliar o potencial de patogenicidade in vitro e o perfil de susceptibilidade de isolados de Trichosporon spp. aos derivados de tiofeno-tiosemicarbazona (L10). Inicialmente, foi realizada uma revisão taxonômica de 3 isolados de Trichosporon spp. de importância clínica estocados na Micoteca URM da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE). Posteriormente foi avaliada a capacidade dessas espécies de crescer in vitro em amostras de pelos saudáveis (isentos de tratamentos químicos), a 25 °C e a 37 °C durante um período de 10 dias. Após este período, foi realizado exame direto dos pelos, utilizando KOH a 10%, e cultura em meio Ágar Sabouraud com cloranfenicol das amostras que cresceram no pelo, assim como análises da macro e micromorfologia dessas espécies fúngicas. Por fim, o perfil de susceptibilidade in vitro dessas espécies fúngicas aos derivados de tiofeno-tiosemicarbazona (L10) de acordo com o Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) foi realizado para determinar as concentrações inibitórias mínimas (CIMs) e as concentrações fungicidas mínimas (CFMs). Através do modelo experimental in vitro foi possível observar que as seguintes espécies: Trichosporon asahii, T. ovoides e T. cutaneum são agentes etiológicos da piedra branca e apresentam potencial patogênico mesmo em um modelo experimental in vitro e sem a necessidade de sinergismo com outros tipos de microrganismos. Através da análise do perfil de susceptibilidade in vitro foi possível observar que os novos derivados de tiofeno testados não são eficazes em combater o crescimento das espécies de Trichosporon avaliadas, sendo assim inadequados para o tratamento das manifestações clínicas observadas na piedra branca. Em conclusão, esse estudo mostrou que é possível cultivar Trichosporon em um modelo in vitro e que são necessárias buscas por outras abordagens terapêuticas eficazes para o combate de infecções causadas pelos fungos do gênero Trichosporon.

This communication reports the second known case of oral phaeohyphomycosis in a patient with squamocellular carcinoma of the lip. The patient, an 82-year-old black woman, a former smoker (for more than 30 years), suffering from an ulcerous vegetative lesion in the middle third of the lower lip for approximately 12 months. The result of the histopathological analysis indicated carcinoma, with well-differentiated keratinized squamous cells and the presence of septate mycelial filaments. In the direct mycological examination, thick and dematiaceous septate mycelial filaments were observed. After the resection surgery, the patient did not need to use an antifungal drug to treat the phaeohyphomycosis, and no follow-up radiotherapy was needed to treat the squamocellular carcinoma. We stress that the presence of the squamocellular lesion of the lip was a possible contributing factor to the infection.

Emergent fungal infections are uncommon conditions which frequently lead to death. To our knowledge, only a few cases of invasive infection by Cystobasidium minutum (previously known as Rhodotorula minuta) have been reported. Moreover, several factors are responsible for deep site infections, such as catheter-related fungemia. This report describes the first case report of Cystobasidium minutum causing fungemia in Brazil. The pathogens fungemia was demonstrated by catheter and blood culture-proven, and both yeasts were identified by sequences of D1/D2 rDNA region. After the end of antifungal therapy and catheter removal, a second blood culture was found to be negative and the clinical signs and symptoms of the patient improved.

We report a case of invasive infection due to Saprochaete capitata in a patient with hematological malignancies after chemotherapy treatment and empiric antifungal therapy with caspofungin. Although severely immunocompromised the patient survived been treated with amphotericin B lipid complex associated with voriconazole.

Cryptococcus neoformans var. grubii is considered to be the major cause of cryptococcosis in immunosuppressed patients. Understanding cell wall glycoproteins using lectins is of medical interest and can contribute to specific therapy. The aim of this study was to evaluate the carbohydrates on the cell wall of Cryptococcus neoformans var. grubii clinical isolates, using a fluorescein isothiocyanate-lectin binding protocol. Thirty yeast strains stocked in the culture collection were cultivated for 2 days at 30 °C with shaking. Cells were obtained by centrifugation, washed in phosphate-buffered saline, and a suspension of 107 cells/mL was obtained. To determine the binding profile of lectins, concanavalin A (Con A), wheat germ agglutinin (WGA), Ulex europaeus agglutinin I (UEA-I), and peanut agglutinin (PNA) conjugated to fluorescein were used. All the tested clinical isolates of Cryptococcus neoformans var. grubii were intensely stained by WGA, moderately stained by Con A, and weakly stained by PNA and UEA-I. Thus, Cryptococcus can be detected in clinical specimens such as blood and cerebrospinal fluid using the fluorescent lectin WGA, which may be considered as an option for detection in cases of suspected cryptococcosis with low laboratory sensitivity. Future applications may be developed using this basic tool.

The majority of microorganisms present a community lifestyle, establishing biofilm ecosystems. However, little is known about its formation in emergent Candida species involved in catheter-related infections. Thus, various techniques may be used in the biofilm detection to elucidate structure and clinical impact. In this context, we report the ability of emergent Candida species (Candida haemulonii, C. lusitaniae, C. pelliculosa, C.guilliermondii, C. famata and C. ciferrii) on developing well structured biofilms with cell viability and architecture, using optical coherence tomography (OCT). This new approach was compared with XTT analyses and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). A positive correlation between oxidative activity (XTT) and OCT results (r = 0.8752, p < 0.0001) was observed. SEM images demonstrated cells attachment, multilayer and morphologic characteristics of the biofilm structure. C. lusitaniae was the emergent species which revealed the highest scattering extension length and oxidative metabolism when evaluated by OCT and XTT methods, respectively. Herein, information on C. ciferri biofilm structure were presented for the first time. The OCT results are independently among Candida strains and no species-specific pattern was observed. Our findings strongly contribute for clinical management based on the knowledge of pathogenicity mechanisms involving emergent yeasts.

Disseminated fusariosis is an uncommon clinical condition in immunocompromised patients. We report a fatal case of disseminated fusariosis secondary to neuroblastoma in a male patient, 15 years old, who underwent a bone marrow transplant. The patient was admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) of a public hospital in Recife-PE, Brazil, presenting bone marrow aplasia, severe leukopenia, and thrombocytopenia. After 15 days, the patient developed right knee effusion. Synovial fluid and blood samples were analyzed at the Medical Mycology Laboratory of the Federal University of Pernambuco. Mycological diagnosis was based on the presence of hyaline septate hyphae on direct examination and the isolation of Fusarium oxysporum in culture, confirming the case of disseminated fusariosis. In vitro, the isolate showed fluconazole resistance and sensitivity to amphotericin B, anidulafungin, and voriconazole. Therapy with voriconazole in combination with liposomal amphotericin B led to an improved clinical response; however, due to underlying disease complications, the patient progressed to death.

Summary Various researchers have concluded that lectins are useful reagents for the study of fungal cell wall surface glycoconjugates. In this study, we evaluated the expression of N-acetyl-d-glucosamine, l-fucose, d-galactose and glucose/mannose on the cell wall surface of Trichophyton tonsurans and other keratinophilic filamentous fungi, using a simple lectin-binding protocol. The fungal cultures used were isolated from soils obtained from public parks by the hair-bait technique. The lectin assays used concanavalin A (Con A), wheat germ agglutinin (WGA), Ulex europeus agglutinin I (UEA-I) and peanut agglutinin (PNA), all conjugated with horseradish peroxidase. Adhesive tape was placed sticky-side down over the fungal colony, gently pressed and then removed. The fungal-tape samples were incubated with the lectin for 1 h at 4 °C. Lectin binding was visualised using 3,3-diaminobendizine (DAB) and hydrogen peroxidase. There was a high expression of N-acetyl-d-glucosamine on the cell wall surface of all fungi species tested, whereas the expression of l-fucose, d-galactose and glucose/mannose demonstrated inter-specific variations. The lectin-binding assay presented in this article eliminates many of the laborious steps involved in other protocols. The amount and quality of the mycelium and spores immobilised by the adhesive tapes were suitable for obtaining the carbohydrate profile in glycoconjugates of the cell wall surface of filamentous fungi.

Trichosporon species are usually opportunistic pathogens. Here, we present a case of esophagitis caused by T. inkin in a 54-year-old woman with pulmonary cancer and severe neutropenia in whom the susceptibility profile of the isolate against azoles and polyenes was verified. The patient was diagnosed with esophagitis grade I of Wilcox, presenting scattered whitish plaques and exudates in upper two-thirds of the esophageal mucosa. Antifungal therapy involving oral fluconazole (150 mg/day for 14 days) was ineffective. In vitro, the isolate showed no resistance to this azole and sensitivity to amphotericin B. Since T. inkin is of growing importance as an agent of invasive infections in immunocompromised patients, we stress that the diagnosis of esophagitis by this species should be followed by an assessment of the therapeutic sensitivity of the strain involved.

Diabetic patients are at risk of acquiring esophageal infections such as those caused by members of the genus Candida. Here we describe a case in which Candida guilliermondii was isolated from the esophageal mucosa of a patient with uncontrolled diabetes mellitus. Due to inappropriate and inaccurate identification, the emergence of non-C. albicans Candida species as potential pathogens has been underestimated. This should be a cause of concern since C. guilliermondii is a normal component of human microbiota. The identity of the isolate in our case was confirmed by its characteristic morphophysiological features and amplification of rDNA using species-specific primers. Fluconazole therapy produced no improvement of the esophageal symptoms, and resistance of the etiologic agent was confirmed through in vitro susceptibility tests. This is thought to be the first documented case of C. guilliermondii esophagitis in a patient with diabetes mellitus.

Aims: The in vitro activity of ciclopirox olamine was evaluated against Cryptococcus spp. obtained from the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of immunocompromised patients. Methods and Results: The antifungal activity of ciclopirox olamine was tested against Cryptococcus spp. obtained from the CSF of immunocompromised patients, using amphotericin B and fluconazole as controls. The minimal inhibitory concentration was determined following the microdilution method indicated by the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute. The minimal fungicide concentration was determined by the absence of growth on Sabouraud dextrose agar. The data obtained showed that antifungal activity of ciclopirox olamine ranged from 0·25 to 1 μg ml−1. Conclusions: This paper underscores the importance of the antifungal potential of ciclopirox olamine against Cryptococcus spp. as an alternative treatment against systemic cryptococosis. In vivo experiments are essential for future medical use. Significance and Impact of the Study: This was the first time that ciclopirox olamine was tested against Cryptococcus spp. using the reference method. The antifungal activity of this drug against this species suggests an applicable potential for systemic cryptococcosis therapy.

Aspergillus is a ubiquitous fungus which can cause a variety of clinical syndromes. This fungus has emerged as agent of systemic infections and has therefore gained considerable public health importance. This paper describes two cases of invasive aspergillosis caused by A. fumigatus in immuno-suppressed patients and underscores the importance of early identification of Aspergillus infection associated with systemic lupus erythematosus and cardiac postoperative complications.

White piedra is a fungal infection characterized by nodules comprised of Trichosporon species and restricted to the extrafollicular portion of the hair shaft. The diagnosis is based on clinical and mycological characteristics, and must be confirmed with a precise identification of the etiological agent. This research aimed to develop an in vitro infection model of white piedra and analyze its morphological and ultra-structural aspects. In the process, hair infection was induced using eight isolates of the genus Trichosporon maintained in the Culture Collection Micoteca URM. The ITS and IGS1 regions were sequenced for taxonomic confirmation. Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) was performed at the Strategic Center for Northeast Technologies (CETENE). The scanning electron microscope was equipped with an Energy Dispersion Spectrometer (EDS). The Trichosporon isolates were identified as Trichosporon asahii (6) and Trichosporon montevideense (2) by internal transcript spacer (ITS) region and intergenic spacer 1 region (IGS1) sequencing. All eight strains were used to induce the in vitro hair infection, and nodules formed after the incubation period. Temperature variations and high humidity were not observed to be related to the development of this hair disease. The main chemical constituents detected in the nodules were carbon, nitrogen and oxygen, as well as a low level of sulfur. The absence of calcium, combined with the low level of sulfur, might explain the soft nature of the white piedra nodules. This study demonstrated that several Trichosporon species may be responsible for causing white piedra.

Erysipelas infection is caused by Gram-positive bacteria, in particular, β-hemolytic Streptococcus pyogenes streptococci (B, C, and G). Typically treated with benzathine penicillin, the bacterial resistance and entry points in the skin favor disease recurrence. The use of herbs is a widespread traditional practice in the general population as an alternative method for curing diseases and symptoms with subsequent improvement in quality of life. It represents a more affordable treatment for the lower-class population. This article reviews the use of medicinal plants in the treatment of erysipelas. A review was conducted identifying medicinal plants that can be used for the treatment of erysipelas. The search was conducted from publications from 1980 to 2016 by combining the search terms “medicinal plant” and “erysipelas.” The databases used in the research were PubMed, Web of Science, Google Scholar, Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online, Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences, Cochrane Library, Scopus, and ScienceDirect. Data from the included articles are summarized in two tables with ethnopharmacological and pharmacological information. In this review, 30 articles were included. The selected plants have different popular indications of use, for example, to combat fever, inflammatory processes, and skin problems. The pharmacological studies evaluate the anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antioxidant, toxicological, immunomodulatory, and antiprotozoal properties of plants using in vitro and in vivo methods. The plants mentioned in this study are reported as viable possibilities for the treatment of erysipelas. Future research may be carried out to elucidate the active principles, mechanisms of action, and pharmacodynamic aspects and thus propose a new treatment.

INTRODUÇÃO: Onicomicoses são comuns em pacientes imunocomprometidos embora espécies emergentes tenham sido verificadas, modificado o perfil epidemiológico desta micose. Assim, o objetivo desta pesquisa é avaliar o perfil clínico e micológico da onicomicose em pacientes com infecção pelo HIV/AIDS. MÉTODOS: Amostras clínicas foram coletadas, processados para exame direto e a cultura mantida a temperatura de 30°C e 37ºC durante 15 dias. RESULTADOS: Dos 100 pacientes, 32 apresentavam onicomicose. Os agentes isolados foram Candida albicans, C. parapsilosis, C. tropicalis, C. guilliermondii, Trichophyton rubrum, T. mentagrophytes, Fusarium solani, Scytalidium hialinum, S. japonicum, Aspergillus niger, Cylindrocarpon destructans e Phialophora reptans. CONCLUSÕES: Onicomicoses em HIV/AIDS apresentam variadas manifestações clínicas e podem ser causadas por fungos emergentes. As peculiaridades apresentadas pelos diferentes agentes de origem fúngica justificam a necessidade de identificação ao nível da espécie, com a finalidade de orientar uma melhor abordagem terapêutica e minimizar a exposição desses pacientes a condições de risco de uma infecção disseminada. RESULTS: Out of 100 patients, 32 had onychomycosis. The etiological agents isolated were Candida albicans, C. parapsilosis, C. tropicalis, C. guilliermondii, Trichophyton rubrum, T. mentagrophytes, Fusarium solani, Scytalidium hialinum, S. japonicum, Aspergillus niger, Cylindrocarpon destructans and Phialophora reptans. CONCLUSIONS: Onychomycosis in HIV/AIDS patients presents various clinical manifestations and may be caused by emerging fungi. The peculiarities presented by different fungal agents justify the need for identification to species level, with the purpose of guiding better therapeutic approaches and minimizing these patients' exposure to conditions presenting a risk of disseminated infection.

Candidemia is a frequent condition in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) and usually complicates the newborns clinical course. Several factors are responsible for candidiasis, such as prematurity and use of broad-spectrum antibiotics, and in these cases, there are the involvement of various Candida species, as C. albicans, and C. parapsilosis. However, other species as C. haemulonii has been rarely described in candidemia cases, being considered an emergent pathogen. Thus, we report a case of neonatal candidemia by C. haemulonii and a review of literature of fungemia by this yeast. The patient was a neonate with gestational age of 26 weeks and birth weight of 660 g hospitalized in a NICU from a Brazilian hospital. The identification of the etiological agent was performed by phenotypic methods, scanning electron microscopy, sequencing of the ITS region of rDNA, and mass spectrometry. Antifungal susceptibility testing was carried out according to the Clinical Laboratories and Standards Institute guidelines. The newborn was diagnosed with candidemia by C. haemulonii resistant to amphotericin B with minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 8 µg/mL, sensitive to fluconazole (MIC: 8 µg/mL) and voriconazole (MIC: 0.12 µg/mL). The treatment with fluconazole (12 mg/kg/day) was established with good outcome. Candidemia by C. haemulonii is still being limited to a few sporadic cases in adults with endemic and restricted occurrences in neonates. Usually, the therapy with amphotericin B is ineffective against this species. Our results showed the importance of the mycological diagnosis associated to antifungigrama for the successful clinical management followed by important epidemiological data.

Candida esophagitis (CE) is a common opportunistic infection in the immunocompromised host. C. glabrata is rarely cited as agent of CE and has been underestimated due to lack of proper identification. In this study, two cases of C. glabrata esophagitis in AIDS and chagasic patients are reported. Diagnosis of Candida species should be considered an important key for the ideal choice of antifungal therapy against this mycosis.Esofagitepor Candida (CE) é uma infecção oportunista comum em hospedeiros imunocomprometidos. C. glabrata é raramente citada como agente de CE e tem sido subestimada devido à falta de uma identificação apropriada. Este estudo relata dois casos de esofagitepor C. glabrata em pacientes com AIDS e doença de Chagas. O diagnóstico das espécies de Candida deveria ser considerado uma importante chave para a escolha da terapia antifúngica ideal contra esta micose.

Mycosis is a major contributor to morbidity and mortality in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus and frequent exposition to an infectious source could enhance the development of dermatophytic infections. A case of disseminated dermatophytosis by Microsporum gypseum is reported in a systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patient.Micoses contribuem para a morbidade e mortalidade em pacientes com lúpus eritematoso sistêmico e exposição freqüente a fontes infecciosas pode aumentar o desenvolvimento de infecções dermatofíticas. Um caso de dermatofitose disseminada por Microsporum gypseum é reportado em paciente com lúpus eritematoso sistêmico (LES).

Opportunistic mycoses have been increasingly observed among immunocompromised patients. We describe a case in which Engyodontium album was isolated and cultured from the blood of a patient with the Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome. E. album grew at 37ºC and showed proteinase activity, both indicators of pathogenicity. This is the first time that this organism has been reported as agent of fungaemia. Micoses oportunistas têm sido progressivamente observadas entre pacientes imunocomprometidos. Nós descrevemos um caso no qual Engyodontium album foi isolado e crescido do sangue de um paciente com a Síndrome da Imunodeficiência Adquirida. E. album cresceu a 37ºC e exibiu atividade proteásica, ambos indicadores de patogenicidade. Esta é a primeira vez que este organismo foi reportado como agente de fungemia.

Fusarium verticillioides is a pathogen of agriculturally important crops, especially maize. It is considered one of the most important pathogens responsible for fumonisin contamination of food products, which causes severe, chronic, and acute intoxication in humans and animals. Moreover, it is recognized as a cause of localized infections in immunocompetent patients and disseminated infections among severely immunosuppressed patients. Several molecular tools have been used to analyze the intraspecific variability of fungi. The objective of this study was to use molecular markers to compare pathogenic isolates of F. verticillioides and isolates of the same species obtained from clinical samples of patients with Fusarium mycoses. The molecular markers that we used were inter-simple sequence repeat markers (primers GTG5 and GACA4), intron splice site primer (primer EI1), random amplified polymorphic DNA marker (primer OPW-6), and restriction fragment length polymorphism-internal transcribed spacer (ITS) from rDNA. From the data obtained, clusters were generated based on the UPGMA clustering method. The amplification products obtained using primers ITS4 and ITS5 and loci ITS1-5.8-ITS2 of the rDNA yielded fragments of approximately 600 bp for all the isolates. Digestion of the ITS region fragment using restriction enzymes such as EcoRI, DraI, BshI, AluI, HaeIII, HinfI, MspI, and PstI did not permit differentiation among pathogenic and clinical isolates. The inter-simple sequence repeat, intron splice site primer, and random amplified polymorphic DNA markers presented high genetic homogeneity among clinical isolates in contrast to the high variability found among the phytopathogenic isolates of F. verticillioides.

The peculiarities presented by different fungal agents justify the need for identification to species level, with the purpose of guiding better therapeutic approaches and minimizing these patients' exposure to conditions presenting a risk of disseminated infection.

Infecções por leveduras são freqüentes em imunocomprometidos, contudo espécies emergentes têm alterado o perfil epidemiológico. A habilidade de secretar proteases tem sido associada à patogenicidade do gênero Candida. Esta pesquisa teve como objetivos diagnosticar leveduroses em pacientes imunocomprometidos e avaliar a virulência dos agentes etiológicos baseado em teste de secreção de protease utilizando soro de albumina bovina como substrato. Do total de 104 pacientes estudados, 19 apresentaram episódios de leveduroses. O trato respiratório (63,2%), seguido pelo trato urinário (10,5%) foram os locais mais comuns de infecção. Candida albicans, Candida parapsilosis, Candida tropicalis e espécies emergentes como Candida krusei e Candida guilliermondii foram isoladas. Cinco isolados de Candida parapsilosis e um de Candida albicans e Candida guilliermondii exibiram alta atividade enzimática. Concluímos que a caracterização enzimática de isolados de Candida pode ser um útil marcador prognóstico, especialmente em imunocomprometidos, uma vez que leveduroses nestes pacientes são geralmente graves. This study had the aim of isolating and identifying keratinophilic fungi from soil and correlating them with dermatomycosis agents. According to our results, the predominance of Trichophyton tonsurans as a dermatomycosis agent among children in the city of Recife, PE, is probably due to children's greater contact with soil.

A case of chronic invasive rhinosinusitis in an apparently healthy man, caused by Fusarium verticillioides, is described. The identity of the isolate as F. verticillioides was established by demonstrating characteristic morphological features and by amplification of rDNA using species-specific primers. Surgical debridement of the infected nasal tissue and therapy with amphotericin B resulted in a favorable outcome. To the best of our knowledge, F. verticillioides has not been described previously to cause this condition.

Candida esophagitis (CE) is a common opportunistic infection in the immunocompromised host. C. glabrata is rarely cited as agent of CE and has been underestimated due to lack of proper identification. In this study, two cases of C. glabrata esophagitis in AIDS and chagasic patients are reported. Diagnosis of Candida species should be considered an important key for the ideal choice of antifungal therapy against this mycosis. Esofagitepor Candida (CE) é uma infecção oportunista comum em hospedeiros imunocomprometidos. C. glabrata é raramente citada como agente de CE e tem sido subestimada devido à falta de uma identificação apropriada. Este estudo relata dois casos de esofagitepor C. glabrata em pacientes com AIDS e doença de Chagas. O diagnóstico das espécies de Candida deveria ser considerado uma importante chave para a escolha da terapia antifúngica ideal contra esta micose.

A case of disseminated dermatophytosis by Microsporum gypseum is reported in a systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patient.
