Apricot has a long history of cultivation and has many varieties and types. The traditional variety identification methods are time-consuming and labor-consuming, posing grand challenges to apricot resource management. Tool development in this regard will help researchers quickly identify variety information. This study photographed apricot fruits outdoors and indoors and constructed a dataset that can precisely classify the fruits using a U-net model (F-score: 99%), which helps to obtain the fruit's size, shape, and color features. Meanwhile, a variety search engine was constructed, which can search and identify variety from the database according to the above features. Besides, a mobile and web application (ApricotView) was developed, and the construction mode can be also applied to other varieties of fruit trees. Additionally, we have collected four difficult-to-identify seed datasets and used the VGG16 model for training, with an accuracy of 97%, which provided an important basis for ApricotView. To address the difficulties in data collection bottlenecking apricot phenomics research, we developed the first apricot database platform of its kind (ApricotDIAP, http://apricotdiap.com/) to accumulate, manage, and publicize scientific data of apricot.

BEEKEEPING ,DECISION making ,HEALTH status indicators ,BEEHIVES ,BEEKEEPERS - Abstract
A key to healthy beekeeping is the Health Status Index (HIS) inspired by EFSA's Healthy-B toolbox which we will make fully operational, with the active collaboration of beekeepers, by facilitating the coordinated and harmonised flow of data from various sources and by testing and validating each component thoroughly. We envisage a step-by-step expansion of participating apiaries, and will eventually cover all EU biogeographic regions. The key to a sustainable beekeeping is a better understanding of its socio-economics, particularly within local value chains, its relationship with bee health and the human-ecosystem equilibrium of the beekeeping sector and to implement these insights into the data processing and decision making. We will fully integrate socio-economic analyses, identify viable business models tailored to different contexts for European beekeeping and determine the carrying capacity of the landscape. In close cooperation with the EU Bee Partnership, an EU-wide bee health and management data platform and affiliated project website will be created to enable sharing of knowledge and learning between scientists and stakeholders within and outside the consortium. We will utilise and further expand the classification of the open source IT-application for digital beekeeping, BEEP, to streamline the flow of data related to beekeeping management, the beehive and its environment (landscape, agricultural practices, weather and climate) from various sources. The dynamic bee health and management data platform will allow us to identify correlative relationships among factors impacting the HSI, assess the risk of emerging pests and predators, and enable beekeepers to develop adaptive management strategies that account for local and EU-wide issues. Reinforcing and establishing, where necessary, new multi-actor networks of collaboration will engender a lasting learning and innovation system to ensure socialecological resilient and sustainable beekeeping. - Abstract
The emergence of computer technologies and computing power has led to the development of several database systems that provide standardized access to vast quantities of data, making it possible to collect, search, index, evaluate, and extract useful knowledge across various fields. The Home of All Biological Databases (HABD) has been established as a continually expanding platform that aims to store, organize, and distribute biological data in a searchable manner, removing all dead and non-accessible data. The platform meticulously categorizes data into various categories, such as COVID-19 Pandemic Database (CO-19PDB), Database relevant to Human Research (DBHR), Cancer Research Database (CRDB), Latest Database of Protein Research (LDBPR), Fungi Databases Collection (FDBC), and many other databases that are categorized based on biological phenomena. It currently provides a total of 22 databases, including 6 published, 5 submitted, and the remaining in various stages of development. These databases encompass a range of areas, including phytochemical-specific and plastic biodegradation databases. HABD is equipped with search engine optimization (SEO) analyzer and Neil Patel tools, which ensure excellent SEO and high-speed value. With timely updates, HABD aims to facilitate the processing and visualization of data for scientists, providing a one-stop-shop for all biological databases. Computer platforms, such as PhP, html, CSS, Java script and Biopython, are used to build all the databases. © 2024 Wiley Periodicals LLC., (© 2024 Wiley Periodicals LLC.)

DATABASE design ,DATABASES ,CONCEPT learning ,INFORMATION storage & retrieval systems ,COMPUTER systems - Abstract
Most Computer Information Systems programs require at least one database course for their majors. This paper describes a case study of a first database course in which multiple database platforms were introduced throughout the semester. The course was made more difficult in that half of the students had an extensive background in database design and the other half had no database background at all. This made the course even more challenging for the instructor. Students were first taught Microsoft Access while learning database basics including entity relationship diagrams (ERD). They then moved to MySQL for beginning SQL and finally learned Oracle and more complicated queries along with PL/SQL. Students were also expected to apply the traditional database concepts to actual database storage problems by creating an individual project using MySQL. Each database platform, Access, MySQL and Oracle presented various challenges to the students. This approach to teaching a beginning database course gave the students a great deal of SQL experience and allowed them to be more confident of their skills in that area. They were able to compare the programming of various tasks, such as triggers, using different platforms. They gained an appreciation for the similarities of the different platforms and were able to apply a concept learned on one database platform to another platform, something they will encounter in the real world after graduation. The present methods of data preservation and representation for barrel finishing processes which include paper and electronic documents have several disadvantages such as restrictions in size and complexity, and limitations on query and updation speed. Aiming at these disadvantages, a new database platform for barrel finishing data has been constructed by using database technology and case-based reasoning. The design procedure of the database platform is expounded in detail, covering analysis of database platform requirements, establishment for conceptual model of database data structure, designs for logical model of database data structure, determination for physical model of database data structure, choice for network structure of database platform, data management and storage method. The application results demonstrate that the database platform can ensure the safe and convenient storage as well as the sharing of experimental data of the barrel finishing process. It can also provide guidance and technical information for scientific researchers, experts, technicians, and production site operators to choose the processing technology and the processing parameters reasonably. DATABASE research , *ENERGY management , *UNIFIED modeling language , *SMART power grids , *ELECTRICAL engineering - Abstract
In the smart grid area, the Common Information Model (CIM) for energy management systems is widely used. CIM is developed in a Unified Modeling Language (UML) and its entire content is maintained with one version by the IEC TC57 committee. There are officially four versions of CIM so far. For each CIM entity modeled in UML, such as a class or an attribute, there is no version information by default. This makes it extremely difficult to precisely identify a CIM entity in an application. Consequently, any application utilizing CIM faces an obstacle in maintenance and in exchange of data with other parties that may be utilizing different versions of CIM. Furthermore, CIM in UML format is unsuitable for managing a large number of instances. In order to improve the above-mentioned compatibility and usability problem of CIM, in this paper we introduce a new International Standard, IEC 62656-3. Through this standard, CIM can be decomposed into a set of tabular data each of which has an explicit version and can be described with a spreadsheet. This format is called Parcellized-CIM. Based on Parcellized-CIM, a commercial database platform, Parcimoser, is developed and applied in the engineering of smart grids. © 2015 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.
