One of the main limitations for the cultivation of forages refers to seed dormancy, which can compromise the emergence of seedlings in the field and the establishment of pastures. Therefore, the objective was to evaluate the germination and vigor of buffel grass seeds cv. Aridus stored under environmental conditions. The experimental design used was completely randomized, with six evaluation periods (0, 6, 12, 18 and 24 months after harvest) and four replications. Right after the harvest, and at each evaluation period, the seeds were evaluated for water content, germination and vigor. The water content of the seeds did not differ. There were increases in the percentage of seed germination from the initial evaluation period up to 17.96 months, reaching an estimated maximum value of 62.74%. The buffel grass seeds showed progressive increases in seedling emergence and in the emergence speed index (IVE) evaluated over the storage time. It is recommended that pastures of buffel grass cv. Aridus are formed using seeds stored between 13.97 to 18.98 months under environmental conditions, as they present greater germination and vigor.

Cleaning the oil industry's fuel storage and management facilities generates high levels of hazardous waste. This research aims to assess the use of biological bioremediation treatments, most commonly used for decontaminating soil, by applying them to hydrocarbon-contaminated waste. Turned pile composting using food-derived sludge as a co-substrate and the necessary proportion of bulking agent enabled the bioremediation of the initial mixture via the succession of microbial populations (PLFAs), with a 70% lower TPH concentration obtained 6 months after the start of the process. Subsequent bioassays using the composted material showed survival rates of over 80% with earthworms (Eisenia andrei) and a larger decrease in TPH in the joint treatment with earthworms and plants (Pennisetum clandestinum). The composting process reduces the concentration of hazardous organic compounds, allowing for the proper development of fauna and flora in the compost by improving the biodegradation rate. The European Union’s commitment to increase recycling and recovery rates of municipal solid waste requires significant changes in current waste management. Local governments are developing various strategies for treating the organic fraction of municipal waste (biowaste) via composting. Community composting centres (CCC), green waste collection, treatment points and community gardens are some of these new approaches. Population density and spatial distribution, together with the existence of community green areas, determine the location of the various infrastructures for recycling local biowaste. The composting process consumes high amounts of bulking agent (BA) necessary to provide the structure that allows, amongst other uses, biowaste aeration and microbial surface colonisation. Shredded green waste from parks, gardens and households can be used as BA in community composting and home composting. In this study, a total of 46 compost samples obtained from CCC with two types of handling were analysed: 22 samples treated by vertical flow (VF) and 24 samples treated by horizontal flow (HF). The HF model allowed better use of the volume of modular composting units and the VF model required less effort and time for the CCC operator. Mature, stable and high-nutrient-content composts were obtained with both models. These composts met the legal requirements to be used as an organic amendment, and they can be delivered to the participants or used in community gardens in the municipality.

O presente trabalho tem por objetivo apresentar uma descrição das características do Processo de Licitação, sua finalidade princípios e seus tipos bem como o uso do Sistema Sistema Nacional de Pesquisa de Custos e Índices da Construção Civil – SINAPI, como uma ferramenta de contribuição orçamentária das ações de compra de produtos de obra realizada pela Administração com uso de verba pública. Pois toda Administração Pública independente de sua esfera, para exercer sua função e cumprir seus deveres, é imprescindível que o planejamento para a aquisição de seus bens e serviços, ocorram tudo alinhado como determina a Lei. Por meio da pesquisa bibliográfica realizou-se uma revisão em diversos autores, sites oficiais do governo, onde foi possível levantar dados referentes ao tema da pesquisa. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of two grazing management strategies on structural, productive and nutritional parameters of Marandu grass (Urochloa brizantha cv. Marandu). A completely randomized block design with two pasture management strategies and eight replications (blocks) was used. The grazing management strategies were: (1) low intensity rotational grazing (LI), with a pre-grazing sward height of 40 cm and a post-grazing sward height of 24 cm, i.e., a defoliation intensity of 50%; (2) High intensity rotational grazing (HI), with a pre-grazing sward height of 40 cm and a post-grazing sward height of 10 cm (±70% defoliation intensity). Pastures were sampled before and after grazing for estimation of forage mass, forage accumulation rate, structural characteristics, nutritional value and dry matter intake.The LI strategy resulted in higher dry matter production than HI before (18.33%) and after grazing (49.06%), increasing pre-grazing forage density by 13.21% (P < 0.05). The production of potentially digestible dry matter was highest (P < 0.05) in LI strategy (21.3% before and 39.6% after grazing, respectively). Higher post-grazing green forage mass (45%) increased the residual crude protein in LI. The LI management strategy increased forage mass production and can be used in Marandu grass pastures.

We report a case of ultrasound-guided ex vivo oocyte retrieval for fertility preservation in a woman with bilateral borderline ovarian tumor, for whom conventional transvaginal oocyte retrieval was deemed unsafe because of the increased risk of malignant cell spillage. Ovarian stimulation with gonadotropins was performed. Surgery was scheduled according to the ovarian response to exogenous gonadotropic stimulation; oophorectomized specimens were obtained by laparoscopy, and oocyte retrieval was performed ∼ 37 hours after the ovulatory trigger. The sum of 20 ovarian follicles were aspirated, and 16 oocytes were obtained. We performed vitrification of 12 metaphase II oocytes and 3 oocytes matured in vitro. Our result emphasizes the viability of ex vivo mature oocyte retrieval after controlled ovarian stimulation for those with high risk of malignant dissemination by conventional approach.Relatamos um caso de obtenção ex vivo de óvulos, guiada por ultrassonografia, para preservação da fertilidade em uma mulher com tumor ovariano borderline bilateral, para quem a recuperação transvaginal convencional foi considerada insegura, devido ao aumento do risco de disseminação de células malignas. Foi realizada estimulação ovariana com gonadotrofinas. A cirurgia foi agendada de acordo com a resposta ovariana à estimulação gonadotrófica exógena; após ooforectomia por laparoscopia, ∼ 37 horas após a maturação folicular, procedeu-se à recuperação extracorpórea de oócitos. Um total de 20 folículos ovarianos foi aspirado e 16 complexos cumulus foram obtidos, resultando na vitrificação de 12 oócitos maduros e de 3 oócitos imaturos amadurecidos in vitro. Nosso resultado enfatiza a viabilidade da recuperação ex vivo de oócitos maduros após estimulação ovariana controlada para mulheres com alto risco de disseminação maligna pela captação oocitária realizada convencionalmente pela via transvaginal.

Buildings play a central role in the low-carbon future and pose challenges for integration with sustainable development, especially in Brazil, where urban areas are still expanding and the implementation of environmental tools, such as Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), faces more difficulties. The aim of this paper is to assess the greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions during the whole life cycle of a housing complex located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. For this purpose, a life cycle-based analysis was carried out to estimate the GHG emission from the production of the most commonly used building materials, such as steel, cement, ceramic, wood, among others; transport activities; and the construction, use (energy consumption during 50-year useful life), maintenance and demolition of the housing complex. According to the results, the GHG emissions generated during the housing complex's life cycle are 282.62 tCO2eq, which can be expressed as 1,009.34 kg CO2eq./m2/50-year or 20.19 kg CO2eq./m2/year. These emissions are dominated by the use stage (56%), which is followed by the pre-use (30%) and end-of-life (14%) stages. Indirect emissions accounted for more than half of GHG emissions (57%), mainly driven by emissions from building materials (85.47 t CO2eq.; or 30%). Cement was responsible for 22% of embodied GHG emissions from building materials. These findings are relevant to the Brazilian context in which environmental issues have not determined the choice of building materials. Furthermore, this paper supports the improvement of the LCA usefulness in Brazil as it contributes to the mitigation of the lack of national datasets.

A TRANSMIDIAÇÃO COMO UMA ESCRITA DE RESISTÊNCIA

The aim of the study was to determine the effect of different roughage associated with pseudostem hay of banana trees on nutrients intake, chemical composition of milk and cheese and the fatty acid profile of F1 Holstein x Zebu cows. Eight cows F1 Holstein x Zebu were used in a replicated 4 × 4 Latin square design, each composed of four animals, four treatments and four experimental periods. Four experimental diets were used: diet 1 – sorghum silage as exclusive dietary roughage; diet 2 – sorghum silage (70%) associated with 30% pseudostem hay of banana trees (dry matter basis; SS); diet 3 – 70% elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum cv. Roxo) with 30% pseudostem hay of banana trees (dry matter basis; EGPS); and diet 4 – 70% sugar cane with 30% pseudostem hay of banana trees (dry matter basis; SCPS). The roughage: concentrate ratio in the four experimental diets was 75:25 in dry matter basis. For the chemical composition of milk and cheese, there was no difference between diets except for milk urea nitrogen which was higher with the EGPS diet. However, in the lipid fraction of milk, the EGPS diet favoured the increase of total monounsaturated fatty acids, besides increasing the concentration of conjugated linoleic acid, contributing to the improvement of some nutritional evaluation indexes of the milk lipid fraction. The pseudostem hay of banana trees associated with different roughages did not influence the chemical composition of milk and cheese of F1 Holstein x Zebu cows.Highlights The inclusion of pseudostem hay of banana trees in the diet of F1 Holstein x Zebu cows does not change the milk yield corrected for 3.5% fat. Pseudostem hay of banana trees diet of lactating cows increased the concentration of omega 6 in milk. Pseudostem hay in the diet of lactating crossbred cows did not change the yield, flavour and appearance of the cheese.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the association of pseudostem hay of banana trees of different roughages in the diet of F1 Holstein/Zebu cows on their nutrient intake and digestibility, nitrogen balance, microbial synthesis, ingestive behavior, and milk production. The experiment was distributed in two simultaneous 4 × 4 Latin squares. The treatments were as follows: diet 1—sorghum silage as exclusive dietary roughage; diet 2—sorghum silage (70%) associated with 30% pseudostem hay of banana trees (dry matter basis); diet 3—70% elephant grass with 30% pseudostem hay of banana trees (dry matter basis); and diet 4—70% sugarcane with 30% banana pseudostem hay (dry matter basis). The objective was to evaluate the qualitative and nutritional aspects of elephant grass cv. BRS capiaçu silage with increasing proportions of silk cotton. A completely randomized design was used with five (0, 15, 30, 45, and 60% on natural matter basis) different inclusion proportions of silk cotton to elephant grass silage and four repetitions. Silages were prepared in PVC minisilos and remained ensiled for 42 days. The inclusion of silk cotton resulted in a linear reduction in dry matter (DM), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF), cellulose, and indigestible neutral detergent fiber (iNDF) contents at 0.06, 0.30, 0.23, 0.20, and 0.09 percentage points for each 1% inclusion, respectively. There was an increasing linear effect of crude protein (CP) and total digestible nutrients (TDN), with an increase of 39.32 and 20.89% from the lowest to the highest inclusion of silk cotton to elephant grass cv. BRS capiaçu silage. Values of pH, gas losses (GL), effluent losses (EL), dry matter recovery (DMR), hemicellulose, and lignin were not influenced by the evaluated inclusion levels, showing estimated averages of 3.87, 1, 42%, 11.55kg t-1 natural matter, 97.36%, 19.30%, and 7.20%, respectively. An increasing linear effect was found for fraction a, c, effective degradability (ED) (2% and 5%) dry matter, with an increment of 0.05, 0.0005, and 0.11 percent points, respectively. There was a quadratic effect for fraction b, potential degradability (PD), ED (2%), with minimum points of 23.72%, 50.52%, (at 45% inclusion level) 39.69%, (at 15% inclusion level) respectively. The indigestible fraction (IF) had a quadratic effect with a maximum of 49.48% at the 45% inclusion level. The colonization time (CT) linearly reduced by 0.09 percentage points for each 1% inclusion evaluated. According to the parameters evaluated, the inclusion of up to 60% silk cotton improved nutritional aspects and nutritional value of elephant grass cv. BRS capiaçu silage. Objetivou-se avaliar aspectos qualitativos e nutricionais da silagem de capim-elefante cv. BRS capiaçu com proporções crescentes de algodão-de-seda. Foi utilizado o delineamento inteiramente casualizado com cinco (0, 15; 30; 45; 60% na base da matéria natural) diferentes proporções de inclusão do algodão-de-seda à silagem de capim-elefante cv. BRS Capiaçu e quatro repetições. As silagens foram confeccionadas em silos de PVC e permaneceram ensiladas por 42 dias. A inclusão do algodão-de-seda resultou em redução linear nos teores de matéria seca (MS), fibra em detergente neutro (FDN), fibra em detergente ácido (FDA), celulose e fibra em detergente neutro indigestível (FDNi) em 0,06, 0,30, 0,23, 0,20 e 0,09 pontos percentuais para cada 1% de inclusão, respectivamente. Houve efeito linear crescente da proteína bruta (PB) e nutrientes digestíveis totais (NDT), com incremento de 39,32 e 20,89% da menor à maior proporção de inclusão do algodão-de-seda à silagem do capim-elefante cv. BRS Capiaçu. O potencial hidrogeniônico (pH), perdas por gases (PG), perdas por efluentes (PE), recuperação de matéria seca (RMS), hemicelulose e lignina não foram influenciados pelos níveis de inclusão avaliados apresentando médias estimadas de 3,87, 1,42%, 11,55kg t-1 de MN, 97,36%, 19,30% e 7,20%, respectivamente. Foi observado efeito linear crescente para fração a, c, degradabilidade efetiva (DE) (2% e 5%) da matéria seca, com incremento de 0,05, 0,0005, e 0,11 pontos percentuais, respectivamente. Houve efeito quadrático para fração b, degradabilidade potencial (DP), DE (2%), com pontos de mínima de 23,72%, 50,52%, (no nível de 45 % de inclusão) 39,69%, (no nível de 15 % de inclusão) respectivamente. A fração indigestível (FI) apresentou efeito quadrático com máxima de 49,48% no nível de 45% de inclusão. O tempo de colonização (TC) reduziu linearmente em 0,09 pontos percentuais para cada 1% de inclusão avaliada. De acordo com os parâmetros avaliados, a inclusão de até 60% de algodão-de-seda à silagem de capim-elefante cv. BRS capiaçu favorece os aspectos nutricionais e o valor nutritivo das mesmas.

The objective of this study is to describe the actions of health professionals and students in the school environment, prioritizing the nurse as a protagonist of health education in a preventive way with emphasis on first aid. This is an integrative review, in which the theoretical framework was developed through research in electronic databases: Virtual Health Library (VHL) and the following databases: National Library of Medicine (PubMed), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) and electronic scientific journals. In the periods 2015-2021. It was possible to show how the performance of nursing in the school environment for the promotion of first aid knowledge is vital to avoid alarming outcomes in situations of imminent risk. Many times, the lay public is the first to show these cases, meanwhile, the education of this public in first aid since the school phase is essential so that this child, when becoming an adult, knows the basic conducts of basic life support and is able to provide a more qualified assistance. After analyzing all the factors that make up this study, we can conclude that the presence of a health professional, particularly a nurse, within the school environment as an educator and promoter of health, the school in turn, is responsible for training and building the citizens of our society, thus making it necessary to introduce a basic life support training plan, to influence the migration of curative culture to a more preventive culture. El objetivo del estudio es describir la actuación de los profesionales de la salud y de los alumnos en el ámbito escolar, priorizando a la enfermera como protagonista de la educación sanitaria de forma preventiva con énfasis en los primeros auxilios. Se trata de una revisión integradora, en la que el marco teórico se desarrolló a través de la investigación en bases de datos electrónicas: Biblioteca Virtual de Salud (BVS) y las siguientes bases de datos: National Library of Medicine (PubMed), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) y revistas científicas electrónicas. En los períodos 2015-2021. Se pudo evidenciar cómo la actuación de la enfermería en el ámbito escolar para la promoción de conocimientos en primeros auxilios es vital para evitar resultados alarmantes en situaciones de riesgo inminente. Muchas veces, el público lego es el primero en mostrar estos casos, mientras tanto, la formación de este público en primeros auxilios desde la fase escolar es esencial para que este niño, al convertirse en adulto, conozca las conductas básicas de soporte vital básico y sea capaz de prestar una asistencia más cualificada. Después del análisis de todos los factores que componen este estudio, podemos concluir que la presencia de un profesional de la salud, en particular la enfermera dentro del ámbito escolar como educador y promotor de la salud, la escuela a su vez, es responsable de la formación y construcción de los ciudadanos de nuestra sociedad, por lo que es necesario introducir un plan de formación sobre el soporte vital básico, para influir en la migración de la cultura curativa a una cultura más preventiva. O objetivo do estudo é descrever as ações dos profissionais e estudantes da saúde no ambiente escolar, priorizando o enfermeiro como protagonista de educação em saúde de forma preventiva com ênfase nos primeiros socorros. Após a análise de todos os fatores que compõem esse estudo, podemos concluir que a presença de um profissional de saúde, em particular o enfermeiro dentro do ambiente escolar como educador e promotor de saúde, a escola por sua vez, é responsável pela formação e construção dos cidadãos da nossa sociedade, com isso faz-se necessário a introdução de um plano de treinamento de suporte básico de vida, influenciar na migração da cultura curativa para uma cultura mais preventiva.

TheInternational Maritime Organization(IMO) has set a target to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from shipping by at least 50% in 2050 compared to 2008. Some studies focused on negative costmitigation measuresto achieve this goal, while it is almost a consensus that alternative maritime fuels with low or zero direct GHG emissions are needed. This article gathered data from implementation, marginal abatement costs (MAC) and mitigation potentials of 22 mitigation measures, to assess their implementation according to their MAC and GHG abatement potentials. Findings showed that measures with negative costs are more implemented than measures with positive costs, and that measures with negative costs have at least a 25% of implementation rate, with one exception, and for some, this exceeds 50%. Among the measures with high mitigation potential, only the use of alternative fuels without carbons measure has a low implementation rate. Nevertheless, it is crucial to reach the IMO's target. Hence, studies that analyze emission reduction scenarios should consider the implementation rate since there are still opportunities to overcome market barriers to measures with negative costs not yet fully implemented, especially with the approval of the EEXI and CII regulations.

Respeitando a memória da Quinta, com a preservação do antigo Lagar de Azeite e a recuperação do Palacete Principal; onde se criou o espaço dedicado ao Pai do Arquitecto, Poeta José Gomes Ferreira, albergando aí parte importante do seu espólio. Os principais objectivos desta dissertação são: identificar o processo conceptual e o processo construtivo desta obra, relacionando-os com o percurso profissional do seu arquitecto, tendo em conta o público-alvo assim como o local onde se localiza a Biblioteca. Referir a importância destes programas na integração de territórios rurais, mais concretamente estrutura de quintas agrícolas e de recreio, em contexto urbano, e por fim analisar os modos de intervenção em espaços de património cultural. Within the scope of the “Bibliotecas XXI Programme”, the Rehabilitation and Expansion Project of the Quinta das Fontes buildings was concluded to adapt it to the Municipal Library of the parish of Marvila. Respecting the memory of the “Quinta”, with the preservation of the old Olive Oil Press and the restoration of the Main Palace; where the space dedicated to the Father of the Architect, Poet José Gomes Ferreira, was created, housing an important part of his estate. The main objectives of this dissertation are: to identify the conceptual process and the constructive process of this work, relating them to the professional career of its architect, taking into account the target audience as well as the place where the Library is located. Mention the importance of these programs in the integration of rural territories, more specifically the structure of agricultural and recreation farms, in an urban context, and finally analyze the modes of intervention in cultural heritage spaces.

Vietnam's promising economic growth has led to energy shortage, growing coal imports, and increasing carbon emissions. The country's electricity demand annual growth rate has been 12% in recent years and is projected to be 8–9% by 2030. In Vietnam 40% of the land is dedicated to agriculture and thousands of inland water bodies are used for agriculture/aquaculture. Utilising even a small portion of them for Floating Photovoltaics (FPVs) would mitigate land-use conflicts and benefits agriculture and aquaculture. To demonstrate FPVs' potential, we selected a hydropower dam reservoir in the North and six irrigation reservoirs in the South. System Advisor Model (SAM) software was used to simulate the electricity generated if we cover 1%, 5%, and 10% of surfaces of these reservoirs. The results show a potential capacity close to 1 GWp and annual potential generation of 1.4 TWh if 1% of these surfaces were covered by FPVs. We also evaluated FPVs potential for four different types of water bodies in Vietnam: Lake, Lagoon, River and Without Classification. The results showed that the potential capacity, considering use of only of 1% of these water surfaces for FPVs is 3.7 GWp, and provides 5385 GWh generation, which highlights the significant contribution that FPVs can make to the renewable energy sector in this country. However, FPVs face some socio-technical barriers, including regulatory ambiguity about water rights, uncertainty about economic policies and limited information about their environmental impacts that could hamper the expansion of this technology, and need to be addressed through further research.

RESUMO O presente estudo analisou o potencial de recuperação energética dos resíduos sólidos urbanos (RSU) e o balanço de emissões de gases de efeito estufa (GEE) resultante no município do Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, com base em três cenários tecnológicos alternativos. Os potenciais de geração foram calculados para a recuperação de gás de lixo (GDL) em 363,98 GWhe.ano-1 e 0,181 MWhe.t-1, para a biodigestão anaeróbica em 367,27 GWhe.ano-1 e 0,247 MWhe.t-1; e para a incineração em 1.139,33 GWhe.ano-1 e 0,459 MWhe.t-1. Os indicadores de intensidade de carbono mostram que, ao se considerar somente as emissões de GEE de combustão, a recuperação de GDL e a biodigestão anaeróbica apresentam os menores valores (7,488.10-4 tCO2eq.MWhe-1), enquanto a incineração apresenta o valor de 1,248 tCO2eq.MWhe-1. ABSTRACT The present study analyzes the energy recovery potential of municipal solid waste (MSW) and the resulting greenhouse gas (GHG) emission balance in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, based on three alternative technological scenarios. The generation potentials were calculated for waste gas recovery (WGR) to be 363.98 GWhe.year-1 and 0.181 MWhe.t-1, 367.27 GWhe.year-1 and 0.247 MWhe.t-1 for anaerobic biodigestion, and 1.139.33 GWhe.year-1 and 0.459 MWhe.t-1 for incineration. Carbon intensity indicators show that, when only considering GHG emissions from the combustion process, WGR recovery and anaerobic biodigestion present the lowest values, of 7.488.10-4 tCO2eq.MWhe-1, while the value for incineration corresponds to 1.248 tCO2eq.MWhe-1. On the other hand, when considering associated landfill GHG emissions, the indicators in the first two scenarios correspond to 8.191 and 3.552 tCO2eq.MWhe-1, respectively.
