In this report, the authors demonstrated that idiopathic pituitary hyperplasia (PH) can cause complete bitemporal hemianopia and amenorrhea, even in the setting of mild anatomical compression of the optic chiasm and normal pituitary function. Furthermore, complete resolution of symptoms can be achieved with surgical decompression. PH can occur in the setting of pregnancy or end-organ insufficiency, as well as with medications such as oral contraceptives and antipsychotics, or it can be idiopathic. It is often found incidentally, and surgical intervention is usually unnecessary, as the disorder rarely progresses and can be managed by treating the underlying etiology. Here, the authors present the case of a 24-year-old woman with no significant prior medical history, who presented with bitemporal hemianopia and amenorrhea. Imaging revealed an enlarged pituitary gland that was contacting, but not compressing, the optic chiasm, and pituitary hormone tests were all within normal limits. The patient underwent surgical decompression of the sella turcica and exploration of the gland through an endoscopic endonasal transsphenoidal approach. Pathology results demonstrated PH. A postoperative visual field examination revealed complete resolution of the bitemporal hemianopia, and menstruation resumed 3 days later. The patient remains asymptomatic with no hormonal deficits.

Natural products have routinely been used both as sources of and inspiration for new crop protection active ingredients. The natural product UK-2A has potent anti-fungal activity but lacks key attributes for field translation. Post-fermentation conversion of UK-2A to fenpicoxamid resulted in an active ingredient with a new target site of action for cereal and banana pathogens. Here we demonstrate the creation of a synthetic variant of fenpicoxamid via identification of the structural elements of UK-2A that are needed for anti-fungal activity. Florylpicoxamid is a non-macrocyclic active ingredient bearing two fewer stereocenters than fenpicoxamid, controls a broad spectrum of fungal diseases at low use rates and has a concise, scalable route which is aligned with green chemistry principles. The development of florylpicoxamid represents the first example of using a stepwise deconstruction of a macrocyclic natural product to design a fully synthetic crop protection active ingredient.

The natural product UK-2A was transformed postfermentation to fenpicoxamid (InatreqTM active), a new crop protection active ingredient for disease control in wheat and bananas. A second-generation molecule inspired by UK-2A necessitates a nonmacrocyclic structure with fewer stereogenic centers to enable cost-effective large-scale production via total synthesis. Deconstruction of the UK-2A macrocycle led to the identification of key structural elements necessary to provide effective control of disease. Beginning with a nonmacrocyclic fragment containing these structural elements, a new molecule was created using structure–activity relationship studies focused on improving control of wheat leaf blotch caused by Zymoseptoria tritici. These studies led to the discovery of florylpicoxamid (AdaveltTM active), a new active ingredient in the picolinamide class of fungicide chemistry.

Limbic encephalitis with antibodies against adenylate kinase 5 (AK5) has been difficult to characterize because of its rarity. In this study, we identified 10 new cases and reviewed 16 previously reported patients, investigating clinical features, IgG subclasses, human leucocyte antigen and CSF proteomic profiles. Patients with anti-AK5 limbic encephalitis were mostly male (20/26, 76.9%) with a median age of 66 years (range 48–94). The predominant symptom was severe episodic amnesia in all patients, and this was frequently associated with depression (17/25, 68.0%). Weight loss, asthenia and anorexia were also highly characteristic, being present in 11/25 (44.0%) patients. Although epilepsy was always lacking at disease onset, seizures developed later in a subset of patients (4/25, 16.0%). All patients presented CSF abnormalities, such as pleocytosis (18/25, 72.0%), oligoclonal bands (18/25, 72.0%) and increased Tau (11/14, 78.6%). Temporal lobe hyperintensities were almost always present at disease onset (23/26, 88.5%), evolving nearly invariably towards severe atrophy in subsequent MRIs (17/19, 89.5%). This finding was in line with a poor response to immunotherapy, with only 5/25 (20.0%) patients responding. IgG1 was the predominant subclass, being the most frequently detected and the one with the highest titres in nine CSF-serum paired samples. A temporal biopsy from one of our new cases showed massive lymphocytic infiltrates dominated by both CD4+ and CT8+ T cells, intense granzyme B expression and abundant macrophages/microglia. Human leucocyte antigen (HLA) analysis in 11 patients showed a striking association with HLA-B*08:01 [7/11, 63.6%; odds ratio (OR) = 13.4, 95% confidence interval (CI): 3.8–47.4], C*07:01 (8/11, 72.7%; OR = 11.0, 95% CI: 2.9–42.5), DRB1*03:01 (8/11, 72.7%; OR = 14.4, 95% CI: 3.7–55.7), DQB1*02:01 (8/11, 72.7%; OR = 13.5, 95% CI: 3.5–52.0) and DQA1*05:01 (8/11, 72.7%; OR = 14.4, 95% CI: 3.7–55.7) alleles, which formed the extended haplotype B8-C7-DR3-DQ2 in 6/11 (54.5%) patients (OR = 16.5, 95% CI: 4.8–57.1). Finally, we compared the CSF proteomic profile of five anti-AK5 patients with that of 40 control subjects and 10 cases with other more common non-paraneoplastic limbic encephalitis (five with antibodies against leucine-rich glioma inactivated 1 and five against contactin-associated protein-like 2), as well as 10 cases with paraneoplastic neurological syndromes (five with antibodies against Yo and five against Ma2). These comparisons revealed 31 and seven significantly upregulated proteins in anti-AK5 limbic encephalitis, respectively mapping to apoptosis pathways and innate/adaptive immune responses. These findings suggest that the clinical manifestations of anti-AK5 limbic encephalitis result from a distinct T cell-mediated pathogenesis, with major cytotoxicity-induced apoptosis leading to a prompt and aggressive neuronal loss, likely explaining the poor prognosis and response to immunotherapy.

Background The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and New York State Department of Health recently identified the Capital District of New York (CDNY) as an emerging endemic area for blastomycosis. However, no clinical or epidemiological description of blastomycosis in the CDNY has been published. Methods We performed a retrospective analysis of blastomycosis cases at Albany Medical Center (AMC) and Albany Stratton Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) from January 1, 2000, through June 1, 2019. Patients were identified via an institution-approved informatics system at the hospital's microbiology laboratory. Results We identified 20 patients diagnosed with blastomycosis over the past 2 decades. There was a nearly 9-fold increase in the annual number of cases in 2016–2019 compared with 2000–2015. The majority of patients resided in the CDNY (90%), and 65% lived within the Mohawk River valley. Most cases (85%) were assumed to be malignancies or non-mycotic infections prior to diagnosis, with median time between presentation and diagnosis of 53 days. Conclusions Our data support recent reports that blastomycosis is an emerging disease in the CDNY. Most patients were misdiagnosed as malignancy or non-mycotic infection, which led to treatment delays.

Dermatomyositis (DM) is an idiopathic inflammatory disorder that presents with proximal muscle weakness and typical DM skin changes. DM can involve other organs such as the lung, esophagus, and heart. Diaphragmatic muscle paralysis is an unrecognized clinical presentation of acute DM exacerbation. A 58-year-old man with a history of DM presented to the hospital after sustaining a cardiorespiratory arrest. Before arrest, he had been suffering from progressive dyspnea and muscle weakness. Immunosuppressive therapy of tacrolimus for DM was recently discontinued due to renal toxicity. Bedside ultrasound of the diaphragm while intubated revealed evidence of bilateral diaphragmatic paralysis. After extubation, supine and upright pulmonary function tests (PFT) and sniff test results strengthened the diagnosis of diaphragmatic paralysis. The patient was worked up for an acute DM exacerbation as the likely etiology of the severe diaphragmatic muscle weakness (diaphragmatic paralysis) and ventilatory failure. Skin and muscle biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of active DM. The patient was treated with high dose steroids and mycophenolate mofetil, following which he soon recovered.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to assess the efficacy and safety profile of AFPep, a 9-amino acid cyclic peptide prior to its entry into pre-clinical toxicology analyses en route to clinical trials. Methods AFPep was assessed for anti-estrogenic activity in a mouse uterine growth assay and for breast cancer therapeutic efficacy in a human tumor xenograft model in mice. AFPep was assessed for tolerability in a variety of in vivo models, notably including assessment for effects on rat liver and human hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines and xenografts. Results AFPep arrests the growth of human MCF-7 breast cancer xenografts, inhibits the estrogen-induced growth of mouse uteri, and does not affect liver growth nor stimulate growth of human hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines when growing in vitro or as xenografts in vivo. AFPep is well tolerated in mice, rats, dogs, and primates. Conclusions AFPep is effective for the treatment of ER-positive breast cancer and exhibits a therapeutic index that is substantially wider than that for drugs currently in clinical use. The data emphasize the importance of pursuing pre-clinical toxicology studies with the intent to enter clinical trials.

AimsRoutine application of PD-L1 immunohistochemistry (IHC) in colorectal cancer (CRC) is limited due to lack of standardized scoring criteria, antibody clones, and intratumoral staining heterogeneity. We assessed PD-L1 protein expression on full face CRC tissue sections and applied two algorithms based on the published clinical trials that support the recent FDA approval for immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICPI) therapy in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).MethodsPD-L1/CD274 IHC (Roche/Ventana, clone SP142) was performed on representative tumour blocks from 52 mismatch repair-deficient (MMR-D) and 52 MMR-proficient (MMR-P) CRCs. Membranous PD-L1 expression was scored for the tumour cell (TC) and tumour-infiltrating immune cell (IC) components. PD-L1 positivity status was determined based on the published NSCLC clinical trials that utilized the Ventana SP142 assay. Hybrid capture-based comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) was performed on a separate set of 2268 clinically advanced CRCs and the frequency of PD-L1/PD-L2 amplification was determined.ResultsPD-L1 expression in the TC and IC correlated with MMR-D (p=0.013, pPD-L1 or PD-L2 genes by CGP.ConclusionsPD-L1 expression in TC and IC is associated with advanced stage and MMR-D. PD-L1 positivity status by the published algorithm is associated with MMR-D. PD-L1 amplification is extremely uncommon in CRC. Evaluation of whole tissue section and incorporation of IC staining enhance the sensitivity to screen patients who may benefit from ICPI therapy.

The microenvironment of solid tumors plays an essential role in tumor progression. In lung cancer, the stromal cells produce a fibronectin rich extracellular matrix which is known to contribute to both tumor metastasis and drug resistance. Due to its conformational lability, fibronectin is considerably remodeled by the contractile forces of the fibrotic microenvironment within the tumor stroma. As a result, the secondary structure of fibronectin's Type III domains is disrupted and the molecule becomes highly stretched. The contribution/impact of these strained forms of fibronectin on tumor growth and metastasis is not known. In the current study we show that the partially unfolded first Type III domain of fibronectin, III-1c, activates a toll-receptor/NF-κB pathway leading to an increase in the expression of IL-8. Using a 3-D model of tumor-associated extracellular matrix, we demonstrate that lung cancer cells seeded onto this matrix activate a TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway leading to a robust increase in the release of IL-8. Cytokine release by these cells is completely dependent on the presence of fibronectin in the extracellular matrix. These findings suggest that paracrine signaling between the tumor and the stromal myofibroblasts causes a remodeling of the matrix fibronectin into a strained conformation which supports the activation of a TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway resulting in the upregulation of fibro-inflammatory cytokines.

A young adult female originally presented with necrosis of the nasal cavity mucosa and septum after sniffing crushed acetaminophen. She underwent endoscopic sinus surgery and debridement but continued to use acetaminophen intranasally. Four months later, the destruction had extended to include the posterior pharyngeal wall and subglottis. The diagnosis was confirmed by polarizable talc found on biopsy of the subglottis. While nasal insufflation of cocaine and hydrocodone-acetaminophen has been well-documented, intranasal abuse of exclusively acetaminophen is not well understood. This case demonstrates the destructive potential of intranasal acetaminophen use and may help physicians recognize unusual signs and symptoms of intranasal drug abuse.

Chronic unresolved inflammation plays a causal role in the development of advanced atherosclerosis, but the mechanisms that prevent resolution in atherosclerosis remain unclear. Here, we use targeted mass spectrometry to identify specialized pro-resolving lipid mediators (SPM) in histologically-defined stable and vulnerable regions of human carotid atherosclerotic plaques. The levels of SPMs, particularly resolvin D1 (RvD1), and the ratio of SPMs to pro-inflammatory leukotriene B4 (LTB4), are significantly decreased in the vulnerable regions. SPMs are also decreased in advanced plaques of fat-fed Ldlr−/− mice. Administration of RvD1 to these mice during plaque progression restores the RvD1:LTB4 ratio to that of less advanced lesions and promotes plaque stability, including decreased lesional oxidative stress and necrosis, improved lesional efferocytosis, and thicker fibrous caps. These findings provide molecular support for the concept that defective inflammation resolution contributes to the formation of clinically dangerous plaques and offer a mechanistic rationale for SPM therapy to promote plaque stability., Atherosclerosis progression is linked to inflammatory processes in the blood vessel wall. Here, the authors show that, with the progression of atherosclerosis, the resolution of inflammation is impaired as the result of an imbalance between specialized pro-resolving lipid mediators and leukotrienes.

Background: Central venous catheters (CVCs) carry a risk of infectious complication with associated morbidity and mortality. Hematologic malignancies are a known independent risk factor for these complications. Patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) are at increased infectious risk with an incidence of 24.7-31.3%. Proposed contributors to this risk are the underlying malignancy, extended neutropenia, and increased requirement for blood products. Existing cohort studies of HSCT patients have been unable to identifying consistent, modifiable risk factors to target with infection prevention and control initiatives. This single-centre retrospective cohort study examines an autologous stem cell transplant population to identifying risk factors associated with CVCs. Objectives:To determine the incidence and incidence rate per 1000 catheter-days within the autologous HSCT program at Eastern HealthTo identify protective and risk factors associated with CVCs in HSCT patientsDescribe the causative agents in CVC infectious complication identified by blood and catheter-tip culture results Methods: Charts of all adult patients with hematologic malignancy who underwent HSCT with CVC placement at Eastern Health between January 1, 2014 and March 1, 2020 were examined to determine which patients experienced any of a catheter-related bloodstream, tunneled-line or exit site infectious complication as defined by the Public Health Agency of Canada's surveillance definitions. Risk factors assessed included patient factors (age, malignancy, history of bacteremia, fungemia or radiation therapy), immunosuppressive factors (lines of chemotherapy, total 90 day corticosteroid burden, erythropoietin use, days to polymorphonuclear cells >500/µL), and CVC factors (line type, insertion site, antibiotic prophylaxis, heparin impregnation, training level of radiologist, days indwelling, thrombotic complication. Additional data captured included 90-day mortality, whether the CVC was terminated and the causative organism identified by blood or catheter-tip culture. Preliminary Results: The incidence of total infectious complications was 56.2% with an incidence of catheter-related bloodstream infection (CR-BSI) of 22.9%. The incidence rate for total infectious complications was 6.51 per 1000-catheter days, with a CR-BSI infectious rate of 2.65. Both incidence and incidence rate were below results found in other centres. In univariate analysis found single-line of chemotherapy (HR 0.114, p=0.001), use of Permacath (HR 0.03, p=0.002), right internal jugular placement (HR 0.048, p=0.006) to be protective for infectious complication. Multivariate analysis identified a history of bacteremia (OR 763.1, p=0.039) and total days CVC indwelling (OR 0.94, p=0.011) to be associated with CVC infectious complication. Conclusion: Modifiable risk factors associated with CVC infectious complication are choice of device and placement site. Risk factors such as multiple lines of previous chemotherapy or history of bloodstream infection signal need to increased observation for infection. Background & Aims The immunosuppressant rapamycin frequently causes noninfectious diarrhea in organ transplant recipients. We investigated the mechanisms of this process. Methods We performed a retrospective analysis of renal transplant recipients treated with rapamycin from 2003 through 2010 at Albany Medical College, collecting data on serum levels of rapamycin. Levels of the Na+/H+ exchanger 3 (NHE3) were measured in human ileal biopsy specimens from patients who did and did not receive rapamycin (controls), in ileum tissues from rats or mice given rapamycin, and in mice with intestine-specific disruption of mammalian target of rapamycin ( Mtor ) ( mTOR f/f :Villin-cre mice) or Atg7 ( Atg7 flox/flox ; Villin-Cre ). Exchange activity and intestinal water absorption were measured using a pH-sensitive dye and small intestine perfusion, respectively. Results Episodes of noninfectious diarrhea occurred in organ recipients after increases in serum levels of rapamycin. The expression of NHE3 was reduced in the ileal brush border of patients with diarrhea. In rats and mice, continuous administration of low doses of rapamycin reduced levels of NHE3 in intestinal tissues; this effect was not observed in mice with intestinal deletion of ATG7, indicating that autophagy is required for the reduction. Administration of single high doses of rapamycin to mice, to model the spikes in rapamycin levels that occur in patients with severe diarrheal episodes, resulted in reduced phosphorylation of S6 and AKT in ileal tissues, indicating inhibition of the mTOR complex (mTORC1 and mTORC2). The intestines of mice with intestine-specific deletion of mTOR were dilated and contained large amounts of liquid stools; they also had reduced levels of total NHE3 and NHERF1 compared with control mice. We observed a significant reduction in Na + /H + exchange activity in ileum tissues from these mice. Conclusions Rapamycin inhibition of mTOR reduces levels of NHE3 and Na + /H + exchange activity in intestinal tissues of patients and rodents. This process appears to require the autophagic activity mediated by ATG7. Loss of mTOR regulation of NHE3 could mediate the development of diarrhea in patients undergoing rapamycin therapy.

Background Genomic fusions of the anaplastic lymphoma kinase gene (ALK) are a well-established therapy target in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). From a survey of 114,200 clinical cases, we determined the prevalence of ALK rearrangements (rALK) in non-NSCLC tumors and report their responsiveness to therapies targeting ALK. Materials and Methods Comprehensive genomic profiling of 114,200 relapsed and metastatic malignancies, including both solid tumors and hematolymphoid cancers, was performed using a hybrid-capture, adaptor ligation-based next-generation sequencing assay. Results Of 114,200 clinical samples, 21,522 (18.8%) were NSCLC and 92,678 (81.2%) were other tumor types. Of the 876 (0.8%) cases with ALK fusions (fALK) or rALK, 675 (77.1%) were NSCLC and 201 (22.9%) were other tumor types. ALK fusions were significantly more frequent in NSCLC (3.1%) than non-NSCLC (0.2%; p Conclusion ALK rearrangements can be identified in a wide variety of epithelial and mesenchymal malignancies beyond NSCLC. Anti-ALK therapies can be effective in non-NSCLC tumors driven by fALK, and further study of therapies targeting ALK in clinical trials involving a wider variety of cancer types appears warranted.

Background The care pathway for patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), particularly in the US, was initially based on open surgical techniques and often includes general anesthesia, transesophageal echocardiographic monitoring, and cardiothoracic intensive care unit (ICU) stays. Whether a subgroup of patients could benefit from early extubation, fewer days in the ICU, and early ambulation in terms of both cost and effectiveness is unknown. Methods and Results A fast track (FT) protocol was initiated at two institutions in our health system with specific inclusion criteria. Patients with complications or morbidity post procedure deemed ineligible to continue on the FT pathway were designated as deviations. Baseline characteristics, success and deviations, subsequent course, and direct costs were compared for FT eligible and ineligible patients over a 6-month study period. Among 99 patients undergoing Transfemoral TAVR, 39 (39%) met FT inclusion criteria. The mean age of eligible and ineligible patients was similar at 85 years, but by design, eligible patients had fewer co-morbid conditions. Approaches to prevent human immunodeficiency virus (HIV-1) transmission are urgently needed. Difficulties in eliciting antibodies that bind conserved epitopes exposed on the unliganded conformation of the HIV-1 envelope glycoprotein (Env) trimer represent barriers to vaccine development. During HIV-1 entry, binding of the gp120 Env to the initial receptor, CD4, triggers conformational changes in Env that result in the formation and exposure of the highly conserved gp120 site for interaction with the coreceptors, CCR5 and CXCR4. The DMJ compounds (+)-DMJ-I-228 and (+)-DMJ-II-121 bind gp120 within the conserved Phe 43 cavity near the CD4-binding site, block CD4 binding, and inhibit HIV-1 infection. Here we show that the DMJ compounds sensitize primary HIV-1, including transmitted/founder viruses, to neutralization by monoclonal antibodies directed against CD4-induced (CD4i) epitopes and the V3 region, two gp120 elements involved in coreceptor binding. Importantly, the DMJ compounds rendered primary HIV-1 sensitive to neutralization by antisera elicited by immunization of rabbits with HIV-1 gp120 cores engineered to assume the CD4-bound state. Thus, small molecules like the DMJ compounds may be useful as microbicides to inhibit HIV-1 infection directly and to sensitize primary HIV-1 to neutralization by readily elicited antibodies. IMPORTANCE Preventing HIV-1 transmission is a priority for global health. Eliciting antibodies that can neutralize many different strains of HIV-1 is difficult, creating problems for the development of a vaccine. We found that certain small-molecule compounds can sensitize HIV-1 to particular antibodies. These antibodies can be elicited in rabbits. These results suggest an approach to prevent HIV-1 sexual transmission in which a virus-sensitizing microbicide is combined with a vaccine.

Timely diagnosis and care are major determinants of the outcome in acute promyelocytic leukaemia (APL), a malignancy whose incidence may be increasing. The Canadian Cancer Registry (CCR) and health system represent valuable settings to study APL epidemiology. We analysed the CCR, which contains data on all Canadians with APL. To provide clinical information lacking in the CCR, we obtained data from five leukaemia referral centres during a similar time period. Between 1993 and 2007, there were 399 APL in Canada. Age-standardized incidence was 0·083/100,000 and was stable over time. The early death (ED) rate was 21·8% (10·6% in patients50 years old and 35·5% for those aged50 years), with no improvement over time. Five-year overall survival (OS) was 54·6% (73·3% in patients50 years; 29·1% older patients). In the referral cohort, 131 patients were diagnosed between 1999 and 2010. ED was 14·6% and 2-year OS was 76·5%. Within this cohort, ED and OS improved over time, although advanced patient age remained an adverse determinant of OS. In Canada, APL incidence is unexpectedly low and temporally stable. ED was higher than reported in clinical trials, but similar to reports from other registries. In contrast, ED was lower in referral centres and improved with time.

Naive T helper cells differentiate into functionally distinct effector subsets that drive specialized immune responses. Recent studies indicate that some of the effector subsets have plasticity. Here, we used an EAE model and found that Th17 cells deficient in the transcription factor BCL11B upregulated the Th2-associated proteins GATA3 and IL-4 without decreasing RAR-related orphan receptor γ (RORγt), IL-17, and GM-CSF levels. Surprisingly, abnormal IL-4 production affected Th17 cell trafficking, diverting migration from the draining lymph nodes/CNS route to the mesenteric lymph nodes/gut route, which ameliorated EAE without overt colitis. T helper cell rerouting in EAE was dependent on IL-4, which enhanced retinoic acid (RA) production by dendritic cells, which further induced expression of gut-homing receptors CCR9 and α4β7 on Bcl11b-deficient CD4+ T cells. Furthermore, IL-4 treatment or Th2 immunization of wild-type mice with EAE caused no alteration in Th17 cytokines or RORγt, but diverted T helper cell trafficking to the gut, which improved EAE outcome without overt colitis. Our data demonstrate that Th17 cells are permissive to Th2 gene expression without affecting Th17 gene expression. This Th17 plasticity has an impact on trafficking, which is a critical component of the immune response and may represent a possible avenue for treating multiple sclerosis.

Large-scale diversion of controlled substances (CS) from within a hospital or heath system pharmacy is a rare but growing problem. It is the responsibility of pharmacy leadership to scrutinize control processes to expose weaknesses. This article reviews examples of large-scale diversion incidents and diversion techniques and provides practical strategies to stimulate enhanced CS security within the pharmacy staff. Large-scale diversion from within a pharmacy department can be averted by a pharmacist-in-charge who is informed and proactive in taking effective countermeasures.

Fluidized bed processing of multiparticulate is a common technology used in the pharmaceutical industry. It is used for drug layering onto an inert core material, seal coating of drug containing cores, and the final functional coating. The fluid bed technology has evolved in various configurations, based on a top spray, bottom spray, or tangential spray. No matter which configuration is used, it is characterized by a very random and rapid mixing capability of the multiparticulate substrates. Various functional film coatings may be applied using aqueous of solvent media. The key properties of substrate, coating material, and process variables involved in fluid bed and their influence on product quality are discussed in this chapter.
