Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the interval between the dates of notification and data entry of suspected dengue cases and discuss the properties of epidemiological data monitoring dashboards. Applied research with quantitative analysis of the time between notification and data entry, using the Cross-Industry Standard Process for Data Mining (CRISP-DM), for the construction of the dashboards. This was developed at the Center for Strategic Health Surveillance Information in Campo Grande. The results revealed a period exceeding seven days in 93.33% of cases. The monitored dashboards included Arboviruses, Respiratory Syndromes, Attendance, and quantitative and qualitative notifications. We observed data integration, as information process are performed in Power BI, consolidating data from two to four health information systems. The contextual study and its temporal relationship are complied with in all dashboards with epidemiological indicators. The study concludes that using interactive epidemiological dashboards for surveillance and healthcare management decision-making is relevant. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

This article aimed to analyze the results of implementing the Integrated Health Care Territories (TEIAS) project in a Brazilian capital. The quantitative study was based on secondary data from the e-Gestor AB, e-SUS, the Electronic Citizen Record, the Primary Care Health Information System, and the TEIAS project management reports from 2020 to August 2023. The results suggest the power of innovation strategies for strengthening Primary Health Care (PHC) through professional training aligned with the characteristics and demands of the territories, increasing PHC coverage, service provision, resolution, and service user evaluation. We concluded that innovations expanded and improved access to PHC, and the most significant advances were achieved in training professionals at the residency level (strictly oriented towards PHC attributes) and incorporating new practices not previously performed by PHC into the territory in question. Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, concerns about the impact of the aerosol generated in dental procedures on the spread of disease led to additional infection control measures that will remain as part of the biosafety routine after the end of the pandemic. This article addresses a little discussed topic that concerns the need to adapt the physical space and operational-technological choices for post-COVID dental care19. The current architecture of spaces for dental care in teaching and public health service units allows the care of several patients simultaneously. However, aerosols are produced routinely during dental procedures, with a real possibility of contamination between different patients. In this way, we present perspectives and suggestions for readjusting these spaces for teaching units and public health services in the short, medium and long term and also for using the resources of Information and Communication Technologies and minimally invasive dentistry. Durante la pandemia de COVID-19, las preocupaciones sobre el impacto del aerosol generado en los procedimientos dentales en la propagación de la enfermedad llevaron a medidas adicionales de control de infecciones que permanecerán como parte de la rutina de bioseguridad después del final de la pandemia. Este artículo aborda un tema poco discutido que se refiere a la necesidad de adaptar el espacio físico y las opciones operativas-tecnológicas para el cuidado dental post-COVID19. La arquitectura actual de espacios para la atención odontológica en las unidades docentes y del servicio de salud pública permite la atención de varios pacientes simultáneamente. Sin embargo, los aerosoles se producen de forma rutinaria durante los procedimientos dentales, con una posibilidad real de contaminación entre diferentes pacientes. De esta manera, presentamos perspectivas y sugerencias para reajustar estos espacios de unidades docentes y servicios de salud pública a corto, mediano y largo plazo y también para el uso de los recursos de las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación y la odontología mínimamente invasiva. Abstract

BACKGROUND: Tutored laboratorial activities could be a manner of improving the competency development of students. However, its impact over conventional theoretical classes has not yet been tested. Additionally, different university contexts could influence this issue and should be explored.OBJECTIVE: To assess the impact of a tutored theoretical-practical training for teaching undergraduate students to detect caries lesions as compared with theoretical teaching activities. The impact of these teaching/learning activities will be assessed in terms of efficacy, cost/benefit, retention of knowledge/acquired competences, and student acceptability.METHODS: Sixteen centers (7 centers from Brazil and 9 centers from other countries throughout the world) are involved in the inclusion of subjects for this protocol. A randomized controlled study with parallel groups will be conducted. One group (control) will be exposed to a 60- to 90-minute conventional theoretical class and the other group (test) will be exposed to the same theoretical class and also a 90-minute laboratory class, including exercises and discussions based on the evaluation of a pool of images and extracted teeth. The mentioned outcomes will be evaluated immediately after the teaching activities and also in medium- and long-term analyses. To compare the long-term outcomes, students who enrolled in the university before the participating students will be interviewed for data collection and these data will be used as a control and compared with the trained group. This stage will be a nonrandomized phase of this study, nested in the main study. Appropriate statistical analysis will be performed according to the aims of this study.
