Orthodontic forces can have negative effects when periodontal inflammation is present, however it is not a contraindication provided the active periodontal inflammation is brought under control and regular periodontal maintenance is carried out before, during and after orthodontic treatment. Orthodontic forces should be kept very low to avoid any further progress of the disease. This article presents a case of localized periodontitis treated with a multidisciplinay approach by orthodontist and periodontist in achieving an esthetic and functional occlusion. The patient has obtained favourable orthodontic and periodontal results with a good periodontal condition after orthodontic treatment.

A rare case of hereditary disturbance of dentine, Dentin dysplasia type I is presented, which is characterized by short or total absence of roots, obliterated pulp chambers, and peri-apical radiolucencies. It affects both primary and secondary dentition. Management of patients with dentinal dysplasia is difficult and requires a multidisciplinary approach. An overview of dentin dysplasia and its management along with a case report is discussed.
