Abstract

Fitting models for non-Poisson point processes is complicated by the lack of tractable models for much of the data. By using large samples of independent and identically distributed realizations and statistical learning, it is possible to identify absence of fit through finding a classification rule that can efficiently identify single realizations of each type. The method requires a much wider range of descriptive statistics than are currently in use, and a new concept of model fitting which is derive from how physical laws are judged to fit data., Comment: 14 pages, 3 figures

14. High Initial Coulombic Efficiency Hard Carbon Anodes Enabled by Facile Surface Annealing Engineering.

Abstract

Hard carbon (HC) anode shows great potential due to its high capacity and excellent rate performance. However, state‐of‐the‐art HC anode still suffers insufficient initial Coulomb efficiency (ICE) due to the abundant Li‐trapping sites. Herein, we demonstrate a facile annealing engineering for HC anodes to improve the ICE and the mechanism is systematically studied. Accordingly, during the annealing process, metastable O‐ and N‐containing functional groups are pyrolyzed, which cause the microstructure reconstruction of HC. Therefore, irreversible lithium ions adsorption is reduced significantly and the conversion of sp3 to sp2 C contributes to the localized graphitization of HC. Consequently, the optimized HC achieves ultra‐high ICE of 90% from initial 61%. It is demonstrated that HC will adsorb H2O and some organic species from environment gradually, causing conversion of some electrochemical stable functional groups to the irreversible Li‐trapping sites. Abstract

Effective removal of heavy metal ions down to the mark of tolerance concentration (parts per billion level) from drinking water remains a great challenge. Metal oxide-related materials have emerged as promising candidates for next-gen high performance adsorbents owing to their flexibility in tuning the chemical composition and surface structure. Herein, we have successfully synthesized a new compound Mn5P4O20H8through a facile one-pot solvothermal process, which has a lattice structure with a three-dimensional network crosslinked by [PO4] tetrahedra and [MnO6] octahedra. A synergistic pathway of surface hydroxyl group trapping and lattice ion-exchange endows the obtained Mn5P4O20H8with superior removal efficiency (>99%) for Pb2+, Cr3+, and Fe3+from relatively high concentration (∼5 parts per million, μg L−1) to parts per billion levels (40, 1, and 1 parts per billion for Cr3+, Fe3+, and Pb2+, respectively), much lower than the WHO permitted level for drinking water. The maximum adsorption capacities for Pb2+, Cr3+, and Fe3+are 1510, 201, and 300 mg g−1, respectively. In addition, the as-prepared Mn5P4O20H8adsorbent exhibits excellent reusability without significant degradation. These results make the Mn5P4O20H8material a great adsorbent for the application in remediation of heavy metal polluted water. This work sheds light on extending the design of adsorbent nanomaterials for water treatment to a broader library of synthetic toolboxes and mechanistic ideas.

29. A Flexible Humidity Sensor with Wide Range, High Linearity, and Fast Response Based on Ultralong Na 2 Ti 3 O 7 Nanowires.

Abstract

A flexible humidity sensor with wide sensing range, superior sensitivity, high linearity, and advanced response/recovery capabilities is extremely desirable for practical applications in human body-related (HBR) monitoring and human-machine interaction (HMI). However, the practical sensor lacks a versatile nanomaterial integrated with sensing capabilities and mechanical flexibility to meet the criteria. Herein, a comprehensive flexible humidity sensor with ultralong Na 2 Ti 3 O 7 nanowires (>120 μm) is subtly constructed for the first time. Owing to the distinguish nanowires network structure, the sensor exhibits wide sensing range (11-95% RH), high sensitivity (>10 3 ), high linearity (R 2 > 0.98), and fast response/recovery capability (8.9/2.1 s), as well as excellent respiratory stability (>5000 s). In addition, the Na 2 Ti 3 O 7 -based humidity sensor demonstrates superior flexibility and antibacteria capabilities, and exhibits diverse applications in respiration monitoring, noncontact detection, as well as dynamic interactive display. This work provides a multifunctional humidity sensor with excellent practicability, suggesting the great potential in next-generation human-related flexible/wearable devices.
