We prove that the Fibonacci quantum representations $\rho_{g,n}:\rm{Mod}_{g,n}\to \rm{PU}(p,q)$ for $(g,n)\in\{(0,4),(0,5),(1,2),(1,3),(2,1)\}$ are holonomy representations of complex hyperbolic structures on some compactifications of the corresponding moduli spaces $\mathcal{M}_{g,n}$. As a corollary, the forgetful map between the corresponding compactifications of $\mathcal M_{1,3}$ and $\mathcal M_{1,2}$ is a surjective holomorphic map between compact complex hyperbolic orbifolds of different dimensions higher than one, giving an answer to a problem raised by Siu. The proof consists in computing their Toledo invariants: we put this computation in a broader context, replacing the Fibonacci representations with any Hermitian modular functor and extending the Toledo invariant to a full series of cohomological invariants beginning with the signature $p-q$. We prove that these invariants satisfy the axioms of a Cohomological Field Theory and compute the $R$-matrix at first order (hence the usual Toledo invariants) in the case of the $\rm{SU}_2/\rm{SO}_3$-quantum representations at any level., Comment: 57 pages

Let $\mathcal F$ be a holomorphic foliation on a compact K\'ahler surface with hyperbolic singularities and no foliation cycle. We prove that if the limit set of $\mathcal F$ has zero Lebesgue measure, then its complement is a modification of a Stein domain. The proof consists in building, in several steps, a metric of positive curvature for the normal bundle of $\mathcal F$ near the limit set. Then we construct a proper strictly plurisubharmonic exhaustion function for the complement of the limit set, by adapting Brunella's ideas to our singular context. The arguments hold more generally when the limit set is thin, a property relying on Brownian motion.

In this paper we prove that isoperiodic moduli spaces of meromorphic differentials with two simple poles on homologically marked smooth curves are non empty and connected, unless they correspond to double covers of $\mathbb{C}/\mathbb{Z}$ on curves of genus at least two. We deduce dynamical consequences for the corresponding isoperiodic foliation.

We formalize the concepts of holomorphic affine and projective structures along the leaves of holomorphic foliations by curves on complex manifolds. We show that many foliations admit such structures, we provide local normal forms for them at singular points of the foliation, and we prove some index formulae in the case where the ambient manifold is compact. As a consequence of these, we establish that a regular foliation of general type on a compact algebraic manifold of even dimension does not admit a foliated projective structure. Finally, we classify foliated affine and projective structures along regular foliations on compact complex surfaces.

If E is a flat bundle of rank r over a K\"ahler manifold X, we define the Lyapunov spectrum of E: a set of r numbers controlling the growth of flat sections of E, along Brownian trajectories. We show how to compute these numbers, by using harmonic measures on the foliated space P(E). Then, in the case where X is compact, we prove a general inequality relating the Lyapunov exponents and the degrees of holomorphic subbundles of E and we discuss the equality case.

We study a particular class of representations from the fundamental groups of punctured spheres $\Sigma_{0,n}$ to the group $\text{PSL} (2,\mathbb R)$ (and their moduli spaces), that we call \emph{super-maximal}. Super-maximal representations are shown to be \emph{totally non hyperbolic}, in the sense that every simple closed curve is mapped to a non hyperbolic element. They are also shown to be \emph{geometrizable} (appart from the reducible super-maximal ones) in the following very strong sense : for any element of the Teichm\"uller space $\mathcal T_{0,n}$, there is a unique holomorphic equivariant map with values in the lower half-plane $\mathbb H^-$. In the relative character variety, the components of super-maximal representations are shown to be compact, and symplectomorphic (with respect to the Atiyah-Bott-Goldman symplectic structure) to the complex projective space of dimension $n-3$ equipped with a certain multiple of the Fubiny-Study form that we compute explicitly (this generalizes a result of Benedetto--Goldman for the sphere minus four points). Those are the unique compact components in relative character varieties of $\text{PSL}(2,\mathbb R)$. This latter fact will be proved in a companion paper.

We prove in two different ways that the monodromy map from the space of irreducible $\mathfrak{sl}_2$-differential-systems on genus two Riemann surfaces, towards the character variety of $\mathrm{SL}_2$-representations of the fundamental group, is a local diffeomorphism. We classify the possible closures of leaves of the isoperiodic foliation (sometimes called absolute period foliation) defined on the Hodge bundle, i.e. the moduli space of abelian differentials over genus $g\geq 2$ smooth curves, and prove that the foliation is ergodic on those sets. The results derive from the connectedness properties of the fibers of the period map defined on the Torelli cover of the moduli space. Some consequences on the topology of Hurwitz spaces of primitive branched coverings over elliptic curves are also obtained. We consider finitely generated groups of real-analytic circle diffeomorphisms. We show that if such a group admits an exceptional minimal set (i.e., a minimal invariant Cantor set), then its Lebesgue measure is zero; moreover, there are only finitely many orbits of connected components of its complement. For the case of minimal actions, we show that if the underlying group is (algebraically) free, then the action is ergodic with respect to the Lebesgue measure. We prove that a representation from the fundamental group of a closed surface of negative Euler characteristic with values in the isometry group of a Riemannian manifold of sectional curvature bounded by -1 can be dominated by a Fuchsian representation. Moreover, we prove that the domination can be made strict, unless the representation is discrete and faithful in restriction to an invariant totally geodesic 2-plane of curvature -1. We study several new invariants associated to a holomorphic projective structure on a Riemann surface of finite analytic type: the Lyapunov exponent of its holonomy which is of probabilistic/dynamical nature and was introduced in our previous work; the degree which measures the asymptotic covering rate of the developing map; and a family of harmonic measures on the Riemann sphere, previously introduced by Hussenot. We show that the degree and the Lyapunov exponent are related by a simple formula and give estimates for the Hausdorff dimension of the harmonic measures in terms of the Lyapunov exponent. In accordance with the famous "Sullivan dictionary", this leads to a description of the space of such projective structures that is reminiscent of that of the space of polynomials in holomorphic dynamics.

Let (\rho_\la)_{\la\in \La} be a holomorphic family of representations of a surface group \pi_1(S) into PSL(2,C), where S is a topological (possibly punctured) surface with negative Euler characteristic. Given a structure of Riemann surface of finite type on S we construct a bifurcation current on the parameter space \La, that is a (1,1) positive closed current attached to the bifurcations of the family. It is defined as the $dd^c$ of the Lyapunov exponent of the representation with respect to the Brownian motion on the Riemann surface S, endowed with its Poincare metric. We show that this bifurcation current describes the asymptotic distribution of various codimension 1 phenomena in \La. For instance, the random hypersurfaces of \La defined by the condition that a random closed geodesic on S is mapped under \rho_\la to a parabolic element or the identity are asymptotically equidistributed with respect to the bifurcation current. We focus on the topology and dynamics of minimal sets and Levi-flats in surfaces of general type. Our method relies on the ergodic theory of Riemann surfaces laminations: we use harmonic measures and Lyapunov exponents. Our first result establishes that minimal sets have large Hausdorff dimension when a leaf is simply connected. Our second result shows that the class of Anosov Levi-flats does not occur in surfaces of general type. In particular, by using rigidity results, we obtain that Levi-flats are not virtually diffeomorphic to unitary tangent bundles of hyperbolic compact surfaces, nor to hyperbolic torus bundles., Comment: 29 pages

We prove that if S is a closed compact surface of negative Euler characteristic, and if R is a quasi-Fuchsian representation in PSL(2,C), then the deformation space M(k,R) of branched projective structures on S with total branching order k and holonomy R is connected, as soon as k>0. Equivalently, two branched projective structures with the same quasi-Fuchsian holonomy and the same number of branch points are related by a movement of branch points. We study the group of almost-periodic homeomorphisms of the real line. Our main result states that an action of a finitely generated group on the real line without global fixed point is conjugated to an almost-periodic action without almost fixed point. This is equivalent to saying that the action on the real line can be compactified to an action on a 1-dimensional lamination of a compact space, without global fixed point. As an application we give an alternative proof of Witte's theorem: an amenable left orderable group is locally indicable.

Let (\rho_\lambda)_{\lambda\in \Lambda} be a holomorphic family of representations of a finitely generated group G into PSL(2,C), parameterized by a complex manifold \Lambda . We define a notion of bifurcation current in this context, that is, a positive closed current on \Lambda describing the bifurcations of this family of representations in a quantitative sense. It is the analogue of the bifurcation current introduced by DeMarco for holomorphic families of rational mappings on the Riemann sphere. Our definition relies on the theory of random products of matrices, so it depends on the choice of a probability measure \mu on G. We show that under natural assumptions on \mu, the support of the bifurcation current coincides with the bifurcation locus of the family. In this article we investigate the natural domain of definition of a holonomy map associated to a singular holomorphic foliation of the complex projective plane. We prove that germs of holonomy between algebraic curves can have large sets of singularities for the analytic continuation. In the Riccati context we provide examples with natural boundary and maximal sets of singularities. In the generic case we provide examples having at least a Cantor set of singularities and even a nonempty open set of singularities. The examples provided are based on the presence of sufficiently rich contracting dynamics in the holonomy pseudogroup of the foliation., Comment: 30 pages with 3 figures

This work is devoted to the study of minimal, smooth actions of finitely generated groups on the circle. We provide a sufficient condition for such an action to be ergodic (with respect to the Lebesgue measure), and we illustrate this condition by studying two relevant examples. Under an analogous hypothesis, we also deal with the problem of the zero Lebesgue measure for exceptional minimal sets. This hypothesis leads to many other interesting conclusions, mainly concerning the stationary and conformal measures. Moreover, several questions are left open. We consider random dynamical systems such as groups of conformal transformations with a probability measure, or transversaly conformal foliations with a Laplace operator along the leaves, in which case we consider the holonomy pseudo-group. Using probabilistic methods, we prove new rigidity results for groups and pseudo-groups of diffeomorphisms of one dimensional manifolds with intermediate regularity class ({\em i.e.} between $C^1$ and $C^2$). In particular, we demonstrate some generalizations of Denjoy's Theorem and the classical Kopell's Lemma for Abelian groups. After that, these techniques are applied to the study of codimension 1 foliations. We obtain for instance several generalized versions of Sacksteder's Theorem in class $C^1$.
