Statistical physics treatment is used to study the desorption of hydrogen on LaNi 4.75 Fe 0.25 , in order to obtain new physicochemical interpretations at the molecular level. Experimental desorption isotherms of hydrogen on LaNi 4.75 Fe 0.25 are fitted at three temperatures (293 K, 303 K and 313 K), using a monolayer desorption model. Six parameters of the model are fitted, namely the number of molecules per site n α and n β , the receptor site densities N αM and N βM , and the energetic parameters P α and P β . The behaviors of these parameters are discussed in relationship with desorption process. A dynamic study of the α and β phases in the desorption process was then carried out. Finally, the different thermodynamical potential functions are derived by statistical physics calculations from our adopted model. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The photovoltaic thermal collector can provide thermal and heat power at the same time. In this paper, a photovoltaic/thermal sheet and tube collector has been numerically investigated. The paper focuses on the development of a hybrid solar collector PV/T. This model will be applied to optimize the operation of the PVT collector in the semi-arid climate. A mathematical model has been developed to determine the dynamic behavior of the collector, based on the energy balance of six main components namely a transparent cover, a PV module, a plate absorber, a tube, water in the tube and insulation. It has been validated by comparing the obtained simulation results with experimental results available in literature, where good agreement has been noted. Using our developed model, the heat and electrical power of sheet and tube collector has been analyzed for four typical days of year with the meteorological parameters of Monastir, Tunisia. Furthermore, the effect of solar radiation, the inlet water temperature, the number of glazing covers and the conductive heat transfer coefficient between plate absorber and PV module have been involved to identify their influence on the thermal and electrical efficiencies. PV/T solar collector is an energy system designed to provide both thermal and electrical energies at the same time. In this paper, the dynamic simulation of a photovoltaic thermal collector is presented. The effect of different parameters, such as meteorological, design and optical parameters are investigated. Furthermore, evaluation and comparative economic analyses among different designs of PV/T sheet-tube collectors, conventional thermal solar collector and PV module is conducted under Monastir (Tunisia) climatic conditions. Numerical results show that the thermal and electrical efficiencies significantly depend on the studied parameters. Using the grand canonical ensemble in statistical physics, a hydrogen absorption and desorption isotherms on LaNi 4.85 Al 0.15 alloy have been modeled by a monolayer model with two level of energy. The model has six physicochemical parameters which are deduced from the fitting of the isotherms at three temperatures T = 298 K, T = 303 K and T = 313 K. These parameters were used to better understand and compare between the absorption and desorption phenomena. A macroscopic study is achieved through thermodynamic functions as the internal energy, the entropy, the free enthalpy, the chemical potential, the enthalpy, and the free energy. Theoretical model expressions are used in order to adjust four absorption isotherms of hydrogen on LaNi4.6Al0.4 at four different temperatures (T = 288K, 293 K, 303 K and 313 K). The development of these expressions is based on statistical physics formalism and some working hypothesis. The physicochemical parameters intervening in the absorption process and involved in the model expressions could be directly deduced from the experimental absorption isotherms by numerical simulation. The best model that shows a good correlation with the experimental data has been determined. Six parameters of the model are adjusted, namely the numbers of hydrogen atoms per site n1 and n2, the receptor site densities N1m and N2m and the energetic parameters P1 and P2. The behaviors of these parameters are discussed in relationship with temperature of absorption isotherms. Then, a dynamic investigation of the simultaneous evolution with pressure of the two α and β phases is involved in the absorption process using the adjustment parameters. Thanks to the energetic parameters, we calculated the absorption energies, which are typically ranged between 109.871 and 133.634 kJ/mol comparable to usual chemical bond energies. The calculated thermodynamic parameters, such as entropy, Gibbs free energy and internal energy from fitted parameters values showed that the absorption of hydrogen in LaNi4.6Al0.4 alloy was spontaneous and exothermic in nature. In the present work, experimental absorption isotherms of hydrogen in LaNi 5 at three temperatures have been fitted using a monolayer model treated by statistical physics by means of the grand canonical ensemble. Six parameters of the model are fitted, namely two numbers of absorbed atoms per, site n 1 and n 2 , two receptor site densities, N 1M and N 1M and two energetic parameters, P 1 and P 2 . The behaviors of these parameters are discussed in relationship with absorption process. Starting from the monolayer model, we determined the absorption energies which are typically ranged between 85 and 101 kJ/mol comparable to usual chemical bond energies. Modeling of absorption and desorption isotherms of hydrogen on LaNi 4.85 Al 0.15 alloy at 298 K, 303 K and 313 K has been achieved through the use of grand canonical ensemble in statistical physics. Besides, six physicochemical parameters have been used to better describe the absorption and desorption processes from the point of view of α and β phases. These parameters are divided into two types. The first type of parameters contains four main parameters, namely the number of atoms per site, n α and n β , and the densities of hydrogen receptor sites N mα as well as N mβ . The second type of parameters are mainly the two energetic parameters P α and P β which respectively refer to the pressures at half saturations for the α phase and the β phase. Thanks to these steric and energetic parameters, we could compare the absorption and desorption processes to highlight the evolution of these parameters during hysteresis encountered in the desorption isotherms. Analytical expression for the modeling of hydrogen sorption isotherms on LaNi 4.75 Fe 0.25 alloy at three temperatures (293 K, 303 K and 313 K) is developed using statistical mechanics formalism. Our objective in this modeling is to select the adequate model that presents a high correlation with the experimental curves in order to obtain new physicochemical interpretations at a molecular level. The parameters involved in the model, such as the number of sorbed hydrogen atom per site, n, the receptor sites' density, N M , and the energetic parameters, P 1 and P 2 , were determined directly from the experimental sorption isotherms by numerical simulation. The results of fitting are interpreted. A dynamic study of the α and β phases of sorption was carried out by focusing on the formation of one of these phases in relation to the other, depending on the pressure and the evolution of the adjustment parameters.
