- Abstract
In recent years, social work with migrants and ethnic minorities has developed as a field of research and practice. Further, it is recognised in the literature that the increased processes of human mobility in today’s societies have driven a growing focus on inclusive cities, especially in larger urban areas where ethnic diversity and cultural heterogeneity can be found alongside newly arrived migrants seeking a better quality of life, safety, and sanctuary. There is a strong link between individuals’ well‐being and their relationship with spaces, institutions, and resources. Cities and their urban environment have been increasingly identified as key arenas where social, economic, and ecological societal challenges should be addressed. In the context of migration, municipalities have invested in dealing with both inclusive and sustainable policies. However, cities are not uniformly experienced by all. This scoping review seeks to answer how an inclusive city is conceptualised in the Swedish and the UK’s social work literature concerning migration. Using social exclusion and inclusion as the theoretical points of view, we conduct analysis using Arksey and O’Malley’s (2005) six‐stage methodological framework. Despite social work playing a major role in the social inclusion of immigrant minorities in cities, through promoting participation, there is a lack of knowledge and research on social work engagement with social inclusion, both in the fields of social policy and practices. This article contributes to an enhanced understanding of what an inclusive city is, and the role of social work in defining and developing social policies and professional interventions for inclusive cities to support the integration of migrants with distinct needs. We offer a much‐needed review of the similarities and differences between the two geographies by analysing the social work perspectives from Sweden and the UK.

8. The Institutionalization of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Migrant Women’s Access to Social Protection System in Advanced Welfare Societies

- Abstract
This study critically engages with the knowledge produced in the field of gender-based violence (GBV) in the context of migration. The focus is specifically on empirical studies that look at women whose immigrant status is precarious, which means that their pathway to citizenship is uncertain and dependent on others. Some examples are migrant women students, asylum claimants and refused asylum claims, individuals whose permit is expired, spouses, and migrant seasonal workers in the sex industry, domestic sector, manufacturing, and agriculture. The contribution of this systematic literature review is the investigation of how researchers conceptualize GBV against women having a precarious legal status and their access to social protection in welfare advanced societies. Data were identified and selected by combining the Intersectionality-based Policy Approach (IBPA) with the evidenced-based protocol of systematic reviews and were analyzed with a Qualitative Content Analysis (QCA) to deconstruct categorical tags used to frame both migratory status and GBV (e.g. trafficking, domestic violence, female genital mutilation). The discussion will be made on how classification systems influence both the framing of the problem (GBV) and the social protection responses (solutions/interventions) to it. Keywords: gender-based violence, migrant women, precarious legal status, welfare service, systematic literature review, intersectionality., AG About Gender - International Journal of Gender Studies, V. 11 N. 22 (2022): Fare intersezionalità in luoghi esplorati e inesplorati

Nowadays, an increased number of international social work (ISW) educational programs have been developed with the goal to equip practitioners to face the social problems in the new modern era. Within our globalized world, social work is in the quest for professionals with a global mind-set and nontraditional abilities and skills. This article presents the findings of an explorative research carried out during the ISW master program called Advances. The qualitative research aimed to explore the perceptions, believes and opinions of those students and alumni who have been enrolled in the Advances program who were subsequently asked to think critically and reflect about their international experience. The Advances program is a practical example that might be helpful to reflect on both how to develop a collaborative process between international social workers during the early years of education and how to build commonalities and fight for a common cause, improving the global/local social workers' mind-set, sharing cross-national concerns more than look for an international ideological definition of what should be (International) Social Work.
