An intermediate depth intraplate earthquake with Mw 6.2 was generated in the Guatemalan subduction zone on 16 February 2022 with epicenter to Southwest of the department of Escuintla. More than 275 aftershocks were registered, which were relocated with the HypoDD algorithm, being able to identify a fault with an area of ~350 km2, which is considerably higher than expected for an earthquake of that magnitude. The moment tensor at the centroid of the main earthquake and the estimation of other focal mechanisms of the largest aftershocks, allowed us to identify extension earthquakes, related to the fault plane, and compression earthquakes that were associated with seismicity on the upper part of the slab. The region of the sequence has presented high seismic activity in recent years. It is proposed that the mainshock nucleated in the lower seismicity layer (LSL) of the double seismicity zone proposed for the region, triggering seismic activity on a pre-existing active fault, also triggering seismic activity in the upper seismicity layer (USL). The separation between these seismicity layers was estimated to be 12.2±5.0 km.

Physics ,QC1-999 - Abstract
Animal collective behavior is often modeled with self-propelled particles, assuming each individual has “omniscient” knowledge of its neighbors. Yet, neighbors may be hidden from view and we do not know the effect of this information loss. To address this question, we propose a visual model of collective behavior where each particle moves according to bioplausible visual cues, in particular the optic flow. This visual model successfully reproduces three classical collective behaviors: swarming, schooling, and milling. This model offers a potential solution for controlling artificial swarms visually.

Immersive Learning (iL) is known as a recent area of research that uses three-dimensional virtual environments and multi-sensory devices, also known as immersive technologies, to support the improvement of learning outcomes. This work aims to obtain evidence of theoretical and technological aspects of iL from the Symposium on Virtual and Augmented Reality (SVR) publications. A Systematic Literature Mapping protocol was developed and executed in order to select the primary studies to perform the analysis and data extraction. 76 primary studies helped to answer the research questions. A large part of the contributions by the SVR community are virtual environments that support education in the health area. In addition, some gaps and research opportunities were identified: virtual environments that serve audiences with special needs; development frameworks that consider pedagogical aspects; the use of biometric measures to support the validation of improved learning outcomes and more flexible tools that support educators in the development of immersive virtual environments that do not require specific knowledge in coding or 3D modeling.

Hypertension and diabetes development had been characterized as idiopathic disorders tightly interconnected, and therefore it is essential to understand how the functionality of neurohormonal pathways are involved in both diseases. Hypertensive and diabetic patients have shown increased systolic blood pressure (SBP), oxidative stress, vascular hypertrophy, and remodeling. It is well established that the long-term consumption of red wine and/or polyphenol-stilbene causes cardioprotective and antihypertensive effects; however, some functions remain unrevealed. Downstream pathways such as reactive oxygen species (ROS), sympathoadrenal axis represented by β1-adrenoceptors, and renin–angiotensin system via angiotensin-II receptors critically contribute to hypertension development. Aims This raised the issue of whether in vivo long-term red wine treatment can act as a modulator of these targets. Main methods We monitored SBP, glucose tolerance, oxidative stress, and cardiovascular function. Aortic and atrial tissues from normotensive-WKY, hypertensive-SHR, and diabetic-STZ animals, chronically exposed to red wine (3.715 ml/kg/v.o/day) or alcohol (12%) for 21-days, were used to measure contractile/relaxation responses by force transducers. Key findings: red wine, but not alcohol, prevented the increase of SBP and hyperglycemic peak. Additionally, was observed prevention of oxidative stress metabolites formation and an improvement in ROS scavenging antioxidant capacity of SHR. We also revealed that red wine intake enhances the endothelium-dependent relaxation, decreases the hypercontractile mediated by angiotensin-II in the aorta, and via β1-adrenoceptors in the atrium. Significance The long-term consumption of red wine can improve oxidative stress and the functionality of angiotensin-II and β1-adrenoceptors, inspiring new pharmacologic and dietetic therapeutic approaches for the treatment of hypertension and diabetes. Collective actions occur all around the world and, in the last few years, even more frequently. Previous literature has mainly focused on the antecedents of collective actions, but less attention has been given to the consequences of participating in collective action. Moreover, it is still an open question how the consequences of collective action might differ, depending on whether the actions are perceived to succeed or fail. In two studies we seek to address this gap using innovative experimental studies. In Study 1 (N = 368) we manipulated the perceptions of success and failure of a collective action in the context of a real social movement, the Chilean student movement from last decade. In Study 2 (N = 169), in addition to manipulating the outcome, we manipulated actual participation, using a mock environmental organization aiming to create awareness in authorities, to test the causal effect of both participation and success/failure on empowerment, group efficacy, and intentions of future involvement in normative and non-normative collective actions. Results show that current and past participation predict overall participation in the future, however, in Study 2 the manipulated participation was associated with having less intentions of participating in the future. In both studies, perception of success increases group efficacy. In Study 1, we found that when facing failure, participants increase their willingness to participate more in the future as opposed to non-participants that actually decrease theirs. In Study 2, however, failure increases the perception of efficacy for those with a history of non-normative participation. Altogether these results highlight the moderating role of the outcome of collective action to understand the effect of participation on future participation. We discuss these results in light of the methodological innovation and the real world setting in which our studies were conducted.

People's interest in health issues has stimulated the development of healthcare-oriented technology products. For the process of developing and using e-health technologies, it is necessary to know the challenges and facilitators for their implementation and wide acceptance. this research aims to identify, among the e-health technologies that are already available in the literature, what are the barriers for implementation/adoption of these technologies, as well as the main benefits arising from their use. In order to identify research opportunities on the subject of e-health, the method of systematic literature review was performed using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) methodological approach. 130 records are considered for the review. The results obtained about barriers and benefits were structured from the sociotechnical (social - people/society; technical - machines/technology) systems approach. As a result, we expect to identify perspectives for the direction of new products development and opportunities for future research.

As a solidarity response to the food crisis, 700 soup kitchens and picnic areas were created by various community networks in different parts of Uruguay in 2020. In the context of preventive confinement measures —as a result of COVID-19— people found ways to organize themselves to fight hunger, preparing and distributing 8 million portions of food in four and a half months. This article takes a global perspective on this common action, based on the systematization of a national survey of 433 initiatives implemented between August and October. It presents the existing heterogeneity based on the profile of their organizers, dynamics and links, in order to raise some questions about the meanings and horizons in dispute that are beginning to emerge.

Smart meters are IoT devices that play a central role in smart cities. However, consumers' acceptance of these smart meters is crucial for the smart meter'’s implementation and sustainable use of resources. Despite the need to further understand what influences the acceptance of smart meters, only a few studies tackle this issue, none of them in South America. This article seeks to investigate which factors influence the acceptance of smart meters by consumers in Brazil to provide insights into public policies that help in smart meter implementation projects. This work features a survey (N = 144) in the city of Florianópolis, the capital of Santa Catarina, that comprises items derived from research and technology acceptance models, mainly the UTAUT2 model. PLS-SEM method is used to assess the influence relations on acceptance and the moderation of these relations by gender, age, and years of formal education of respondents. Social Influence is estimated as one of the main factors for the acceptance of smart meters in Florianópolis, something not foreseen in previous research on this topic. Another surprising result is the lack of influence from Performance Expectancy. This study presents a detailed acceptance model based on the survey carried out, and specific strategies for public policies are given based on the constructed acceptance model.

Objective: To report a series of atypical presentations of Aicardi–Goutières syndrome. Methods: Clinical, neuroimaging, and genetic data. Results: We report a series of six unrelated patients (five males) with a subacute loss of developmental milestones, pyramidal signs, and regression of communication abilities, with onset at ages ranging from 7 to 20 months, reaching a nadir after 4 to 24 weeks. A remarkable improvement of lost abilities occurred in the follow-up, and they remained with residual spasticity and dysarthria but preserved cognitive function. Immunization or febrile illness occurred before disease onset in all patients. CSF was normal in two patients, and in four, borderline or mild lymphocytosis was present. A brain CT scan disclosed a subtle basal ganglia calcification in one of six patients. Brain MRI showed asymmetric signal abnormalities of white matter with centrum semi-ovale involvement in five patients and a diffuse white matter abnormality with contrast enhancement in one. Four patients were diagnosed and treated for acute demyelinating encephalomyelitis (ADEM). Brain imaging was markedly improved with one year or more of follow-up (average of 7 years), but patients remained with residual spasticity and dysarthria without cognitive impairment. Demyelination relapse occurred in a single patient four years after the first event. Whole-exome sequencing (WES) was performed in all patients: four of them disclosed biallelic pathogenic variants in RNASEH2B (three homozygous p.Ala177Thr and one compound heterozygous p.Ala177Thr/p.Gln58*) and in two of them the same homozygous deleterious variants in RNASEH2A (p.Ala249Val). Conclusions: This report expands the phenotype of AGS to include subacute developmental regression with partial clinical and neuroimaging improvement. Those clinical features might be misdiagnosed as ADEM.

Luciano Berio’s Sequenza XI stands as a major work in the 20th-century guitar repertoire. Although it has been extensively analysed in previous scholarship, its performance practice has not been addressed. In this paper, I set out to fill this gap by analysing fifteen commercial recordings of the work, and furthermore seek to demonstrate how different categories of musical time- experience (after UTZ, 2017) can be used as a frame for discussing performers’ interpretative decisions. I propose a formal analysis of the work and provide time-based measurements of the score, which I then compare to the performed sound structures. The results allow me to map the main trends in the performance practice of Sequenza XI in commercial recordings produced between 1993 and 2016, as well as to relate these trends to the discourses of the performers involved.

The aim of this study is to make the case for the creative practice of performance of notated music as research. Discourses and problems on the relation between artistic practice and research are discussed, as originally posed in the UK and Europe, examining the particular issues of music performance through current models. The role of music analysis is particularly considered, as well as the importance of embodied knowledge (also known as tacit knowledge) on these interpretive processes. These models are applied into the author’s own practice through two case studies from complex repertoire for solo guitar with pieces by Brian Ferneyhough and Wieland Hoban. The epistemological contribution of these models is assessed, as well as their impact upon sound as exemplified in a variety of multimedia files showcasing performances of the author as well as other performers. After claiming that the aim of practice-as-research is making explicit the tacit, the pertinence of the model here delineated is interrogated on these terms.

Some disagreements seem to be persistent: they are, pretty much, immune to persuasive argumentation. If that is the case, how can they be overcome? Can argumentation help us? I propose that to overcome persistent disagreements through argumentation, we need a dynamic and pluralistic version of argumentation. Therefore, I propose that argumentation, more than a tool that uses persuasion to change the mind of the counterpart, is a toolbox that contains persuasion, deliberation, negotiation, and other dialogical strategies that can be used to reach an agreement.

As part of a campus-wide prevention program, the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC) implemented a cross-sequential survey on sexual violence. In this article, we report data from the first wave (2018; N = 2,046) from three cohorts of undergraduates (Year 1, n = 792; Year 2, n = 601; Year 3, n = 653). We found an overall twelve-month prevalence for victimization experiences of 18.7 percent (4.3 percent by force or threat of force; 12.9 percent while unable to resist; 7.1 percent by verbal pressure; multiple responses allowed). Women (22.9 percent) were victimized more frequently than men (9.7 percent). Among women, victimization rates were highest for Year 1 students (25.7 percent), intermediate for Year 2 (22.3%), and lowest for Year 3 (19.8 percent). Only 10.9 percent of reported incidents happened in a university context. In most cases, perpetrators were male (88.9 percent) and known to the victim (72.1 percent); 24.4 percent were partners, 35.5 percent were friends. We present additional data on risk factors and attitudinal correlates. We also discuss our findings in relation to previous research suggesting higher prevalence rates at Chilean universities, considering differences in methodology and implications for future research.

The solidification of the cocoa liquor is one of the most important steps for processing cocoa cultivars. This process is typically characterized as a continuous process, which may become a barrier for the randomization of the applied data treatments. This article aims at optimizing the factors that influence the processing of cocoa cultivars during solidification of liquor. Based on this, it was proposed, as a design of experiment (DOE), a three level factorial plan (23) with three repeated measurements. Treatments were organized in random blocks with divided-cells (split-plot). The experiment presents the best combinations between the factors ‘pump flow’ and ‘conveyor speed’ for each kind of cocoa liquor. The application of this kind of design of experiments in other cases may contribute to optimizing processes with long set up times, such as the ones existent in the food processing industry.

Geography (General) ,G1-922 - Abstract
In this article we present some clues to understand the dynamics of the urbanization promoted by the neoliberalism in Puebla, the centre area of Mexico, based on some recent policies, such as 1) the privatization of the water service; 2) land stripping and territory restructuring in the area of Angelopolis in order to build new real estate developments and; 3) the commodification of the Historic Centre patrimony due to tourism. Such processes have taken place as part of a group of transformations in the city economy, the role of the State and its relationship with the private capitals involved in certain urbanization projects; these have also generated a series of social struggles that have tried to resist such measures.

- Abstract
Purpose: This study aims to analyze the relationship between users' perceived barriers to using virtual and augmented reality technology from stakeholders, identifying perspectives and gaps regarding technology acceptance. Design/methodology/approach: The Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory method is useful for quantitatively evaluating the causal relationship between factors. Combining this method with the grey approach ensures greater accuracy even with limited information. A Scoping Review was conducted to identify the barriers, and data were extracted from a questionnaire administered to experts in the field. Findings: Seven diverse barriers were identified by users, and cause-and-effect relationships were estimated. The results indicate three primary causal barriers and three highly dependent barriers. One of the identified barriers is not relevant in this model. Originality/value: Virtual and augmented reality technologies have been gaining popularity since 2018, allowing users to interact with a virtual environment. These technologies are primarily used in training and education areas. However, due to the innovative nature of the topic, there are a small number of studies on technology acceptance, especially in the Brazilian context. Therefore, this paper contributes to the literature and assists in applying technologies in industries.

The present paper aims to show a new light on issues that, from our point of view, affect the university while, at the same time, makes us perceive changes as a necessary mechanism of evolution. Three different aspects are discussed: From a contextual point of view we analyse issues external to the University (modern student profiles, knowledge acquired through new Information Technology and new Communication Technology, and a wider understanding of Universities from a more European point of view). The Institution from an organizational point of view, as the Universities have to evolve with the new times. And finally, how academic staff at Universities confronts an always growing number of challenges.

Approach to a diagnostic instrument about visibility: the case of women professors in university This article discusses the concept and diagnosis of the visibility of women in the contemporary university. Thereafter, we construct a theoretical model that consists of three variables: the participation, expertise and power as manifested in the different functions of academics: teaching, research and management. We propose a tool to determine and diagnose the level of visibility of the teachers at the university. The instrument could be applied to the visibility of other specific groups. The goal is not only possible diagnosis, but also the ability to design actions to improve the visibility of academic college.

Most lecturers and professors involved in teaching School Management and Education Management courses have been engaged in developing some innovative actions to improve the training quality that we offer to students in the Pedagogy degree at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. These actions are aimed at increasing co-ordination among the teaching staff when designing and implementing the course curricula. Co-ordination meetings, exchanges of teaching experiences, discussions about what, how and when to teach the different contents, in which courses and at what level, methodological issues pointed out through technical description cards or the elaboration of study cases to be solved have become the basis of relevant actions during the last academic years. This paper explains each one of them, and provides useful information about the theoretical background, the process carried out, some of the results obtained, the output and the tools created.
