Much has been written on the skills and capabilities of a new generation raised with social media, smartphones, and immediate access to data and information via the Internet. Today's college students grew up using the Internet, where they both generate and consume data. But do incoming college students have the skills necessary to thrive in a digital world that requires the ability to generate, analyze, and share insights from data? This paper presents a study, performed at two small New England institutions each with a business focus, which examines the digital skill sets of first-year college students in relation to the skills they have developed before entering college. The authors also consider whether there is a "digital divide" among first-year college students in relation to their previous technology skills. When applying the Databilities framework for evaluating data literacy competencies, results show that teaching data literacy skills to first-year college students will be critical to their academic success as future information technology workers. This community service aims to increase teacher understanding and optimize the implementation of the Learning Management System (LMS) in the blended learning era. The method for implementing this service uses training in the form of webinars with 119 teachers spread across 40 cities in Indonesia. The evaluation instrument for this activity uses a questionnaire, which is analyzed descriptively. The results of this service activity show an increase in teachers' understanding of implementing LMS. The results are evidenced by teachers' increasing knowledge about making LMS an online classroom, especially in providing teaching materials and setting student assignments and exams.

The emergence of digitalisation focusing on media literacy is becoming more prevalent and thus forcing educators to embrace innovations as our digital natives are now shifting their attention to digital technologies. This study aimed to develop and measure an assessment instrument for media literacy focusing on knowledge, skills, and values for digital natives in Malaysia. Adopting the digital intelligence (DQ) framework, we have constructed the assessment instrument relevant to our digital natives of secondary school students and distributed it across schools in eleven states and one Federal Territory of Malaysia. We received a complete set of instruments from 1,276 respondents of Form Two and Form Four students and analyse the data by using descriptive and statistical analysis through SPSS. The findings of the study contribute to a more holistic assessment instrument that recognises the increasingly complex areas of knowledge, values, and skills for digital natives living in diverse, digitally-mediated environments. The rapid growth of internet users and social networking sites presents significant challenges for entrepreneurs and marketers. Understanding the evolving behavioral and psychological patterns across consumer demographics is crucial for adapting business models effectively. Particularly, the emergence of new firms targeting adolescents and future generations underscores the importance of comprehending online consumer behavior and communication dynamics. To tackle these challenges, we introduce a Machine Learning-based Digital Native Market Segmentation designed to cater specifically to the interests of digital natives. Leveraging an open-access prototype dataset from social networking sites (SNS), our study employs a variety of clustering techniques, including Kmeans, MiniBatch Kmeans, AGNES, and Fuzzy C-means, to uncover hidden interests of teenage consumers from SNS data. Through rigorous evaluation of these clustering approaches by default parameters, we identify the optimal number of clusters and group consumers with similar tastes effectively. Our findings provide actionable insights into business impact and critical patterns driving future marketing growth. In our experiment, we systematically evaluate various clustering techniques, and notably, the Kmeans cluster outperforms others, demonstrating strong segmentation ability in the digital market. Specifically, it achieves silhouette scores of 63.90% and 58.06% for 2 and 3 clusters, respectively, highlighting its effectiveness in segmenting the digital market.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has compelled many educational institutions to employ flexible learning options (FLO), requiring technology integration in teaching. Digital immigrant nurse educators, who are educators born before 1985, may need help adopting FLO due to their limited technological knowledge and skills. This study explores the challenges digital immigrant nurse educators face in adopting FLO as a teaching strategy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: Employing a qualitative phenomenological research approach, we researched 6 digital immigrant nurse educators with at least 10 years of teaching experience in the nursing institution at the College of Health Sciences of Mindanao State University in Marawi City, Philippines. These educators, expressing difficulty in adopting FLO, were purposively selected and interviewed from October 2021 to April 2022. Interviews were conducted through a scheduled Zoom meeting. For this purpose, an interview guide with open-ended questions was used. Colaizzi’s method of analysis was applied to analyze the data. Results: We identified 4 themes representing the challenges digital immigrant nurse educators face in adopting FLO. The themes comprised a lack of technological knowledge and skills, difficulty adjusting to new teaching methods, inadequate technological resources, and emotional stress and exhaustion. Conclusion: Given the challenges experienced by Filipino digital immigrant nurse educators in integrating FLO amid the pandemic, this study recommends providing support and resources to improve these nurse educators’ technical knowledge and skills. Continuous education is crucial for successfully integrating FLO into their teaching practices.

In this digital native era, numerous cases of harassment, assault, and violence against women, including sexual harassment, have occurred within society. It is disheartening to note that not only adults but also children are vulnerable to becoming victims, resulting in negative impacts on them both physically and psychologically. These circumstances form the basis for researchers to investigate the implementation of sexual education for elementary school children. This study aims to: 1) understand the extent of teachers' and parents' understanding of sexual education, and 2) describe the implementation of sexual education at SD Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta. A qualitative research method was employed, utilizing a phenomenological approach and a qualitative descriptive case study design. To ensure data validity, the researcher employed triangulation of sources and techniques. Data analysis involved three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Data were collected through interviews and documentation related to sexual education in elementary schools. The findings of the research indicate that both parents and teachers have a strong understanding of the importance of sexual education for children in the digital native era, considering the prevalence of such cases in society. This understanding serves as a foundation for anticipating and preventing negative outcomes. The implementation of sexual education at SD Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta is commendable, as evidenced by classroom learning activities, supportive initiatives, adequate facilities and infrastructure, and collaboration with parents. Developing nationalism character among the digital native generation in Indonesia has been one of the national goals, especially to educate the nation's life through formal education. To realise these goals, teachers become the spearhead to grow this character within students. However, most teachers find it difficult to deal with since they have low teacher competencies. This study aims at revealing teachers' challenges and strategies in building the nationalism character among the digital native generation through formal education. This study employed a qualitative approach with the type of library research. The data collection technique was document studies, while the data analysis used content analysis. The study results showed that (1) Indonesian teachers still have low mastery of the teacher competencies (pedagogic, professional, social, and personal aspects). They also perform monotonous learning methods and rarely use digital-based learning media. (2) The strategies to build the nationalism character among the digital native generation era are through teacher competencies mastery, effective learning tools, varied learning methods and integration of the digital-based learning media. In the study, it was aimed to determine the digital profiles of classroom teachers working in private primary schools according to their digital culture perceptions. For this purpose, the effects of gender, age, professional seniority, and educational status variables on the digital profiles of classroom teachers were examined. In this study, a general survey model was employed as the quantitative research approach. The population of research includes 112 classroom teachers who work at private schools affiliated with the Ministry of Education in Battalgazi and Yeşilyurt district of Malatya during the 2020-2021 academic year. No sample was taken because the study's goal was to reach the entire population. Data were collected from 112 classroom teachers who participated in the study voluntarily. "Digital Native, Digital Immigrant and Digital Hybrid Teacher Scale" were used as data collection tools. The single sample chi-square test and the chi-square test for two variables were both employed in the data analysis. According to the study's findings, the majority of classroom teachers use digital resources and environments, and they also exhibit a hybrid digital feature that cannot depart from conventional teaching techniques. Digital natives are characterized by unprecedented efficiency in the use of new technologies, and their broad skills affect the fact that they can explore network resources in a very comprehensive way. However, despite their digital competences, they often show insufficient ability to reflect on the use of network solutions, and thus are more exposed to new dangers on the Internet. The aim of the article is to supplement the catalogue of cyber threats related to the presence of children and young people on the Internet through the characteristics of selected and relatively new online threats. The article uses a content analysis covering both scientific publications as well as Internet articles presenting current network threats, the analysis of which in scientific journals is still insufficient. Constant monitoring of new threats on the Internet is an important issue both from the perspective of a parent and a teacher, because only current knowledge in this area allows effective protection of children and youth. Software is the lifeblood of technological advancement, and it progresses not only through emerging technologies, but also through the contributions of new generations of developers who have distinct technology-related experiences. We describe our qualitative investigation into how developers, who began regularly using social networking technology at an early age (referred to as precocious users), demonstrate distinct expectations about the goals of software development. We advance a theoretical perspective that explains how the increasingly socially infused nature of networking applications shapes generations of individuals — some of whom will go on to become creative developers in the software industry. Our perspective suggests software organizations can leverage developers who have been precocious users of more recent social networking technologies to reinforce intuitive usage, promote social impact, and re-energize experimentation and contribution to the software community. Our results also offer a comprehensive set of development goals that focus attention towards contemporary expectations about challenging usability and contribution to software ecosystems. We conclude by discussing how our methodological steps, data collection, and data analysis procedures empower future research to explore generational shifts in the career perceptions and competencies of the digital workforce. ': Digital native' has been a buzzword within the last decade particularly in educational research. Learners born after the 1980s are presumed somehow different just because they were born in a digital world. Although scholars have labelled these young generations as digital natives or millennials as a homogenous construct, the questions of how and for what purpose(s) these younger generations use these newer technologies remain unresolved. Acknowledging the abundance of literature documenting adults' viewing their younger ones different throughout history, this study investigates the relationship between socioeconomic level variables, paternal and maternal education level, household income, and their internet use frequency and purposes. Data were gathered from 327 undergraduate students, born between 1997 and 2000, enrolled at a Turkey state university. Findings indicate that maternal and paternal education levels significantly influence the internet use duration of the younger generation, yet observe no significant effect on household income. The results also reveal significant differences in participants' internet use for academic and a variety of non-academic purposes concerning socioeconomic status variables. Overall, simply being born into a technological world does not make the younger generation a monolithic group of tech-savvy individuals as their adults assume them to be. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aims to investigate the greatest efforts exerted by the English Language Center at KKU to transform the traditional teaching style based on teacher-centeredness to student-teaching centeredness using the Internet of Things. The study entails the role of using the Internet of Things (IoT) to improve the quality of teaching English at the English Language Center at KKU and cope with the rapid change among digital natives. This study adopts a descriptive-analytical method, and the main instrument used for collecting data is a questionnaire for teachers to investigate the use of the Internet of Things in teaching English. The study's findings have revealed that using and implementing the Internet of Things in teaching the English language Center at KKU context maximizes teaching quality and grasps learners' awareness and interactivity. Furthermore, it enhances inquiry learning based, flipped class or blended class and autonomous learning. The study recommends implementing the Internet of Things in English classes at KKU. This article presents emergent findings from an empirical research study conducted during Covid lockdown with 52 undergraduate students at a UK university November 2020–April 2021. The research study, which adopts a teacher-practitioner stance, builds on a 2012–2019 programme of research (represented by publications including Barnard 2019) which explores the potentials and dangers that digital technologies hold for pedagogy and education. It is located in the field of Creative Writing and uses the discipline's pedagogical practice of 'workshopping' as a case study. The Creative Writing workshop centres on the exchange of information and critically informed comment by participating students (generally in small groups), and, as such, has similarities with seminars in other disciplines. Hence it is hoped that this article will be of benefit both in the home discipline and more widely. The contention of this article is that, to maintain quality in the delivery of participatory online teaching, it is necessary to ensure an ongoing feedback loop between individuals' bodily existence 'IRL' ('In Real Life') and the section of cyberspace that they carve out and inhabit collaboratively during virtual seminar groups. It considers how the cliché of the 'digital native' can inhibit learning and the role of affect in enabling productive online and engagement. In taking initial steps towards development of a pedagogy of affect in which a 'neutral terrain' is established that enables students to apply and develop close reading skills in an online environment, it presents a new theoretical position on what constitutes effective pedagogy in the context of participatory virtual classrooms. Students today are a digital native generation, which since birth have been surrounded and familiar with the development of ICT. So that this generation has different characters including learning styles. To be able to keep up with and follow the learning styles of students, a teacher is required to have skills in literacy, especially digital literacy. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach and data collection using questionnaires, interviews, literature study, and triangulation. Furthermore, the determination of the sample using purposive sampling technique. Data were analyzed using a quantitative descriptive approach and deepened with qualitative analysis. The results of the research show that the digital literacy competencies of MA teachers in Bandar Lampung are seen from the categories, (1). Internet searching "most" of the teachers already have a fairly good competence. (2). Hypertext Navigation, only "half of it" are competent (3). Content evaluation, there are not half or only "almost half" who already have competence (4). In the knowledge assembly category, "in general" the teachers already have competence. The conclusion is that attention and efforts are still needed to improve the digital literacy competence of MA teachers in Bandar Lampung, especially in the hypertext navigation and content evaluation categories.

In today's digital world, it is common for parents to share social media posts that violate their children's privacy. It has been observed that this situation is vital in the process of digital personhood development and leads to displeasure in children. The role of parents in the development of digital personhood for the 18-21 age group, digital natives, on social media was examined in our study. According to the findings obtained; before sharing content about them on social media, women ask their parents to get permission from them and if they are dissatisfied with the sharing, they demand its removal. Also it was revealed that as the frequency of content sharing about them by the participants' parents increased, partcipants’ contentment level also decreased. On the other hand, it was shown that the participants were unsatisfied with their parents' sharing of their educational lives, which they saw as a violation of their privacy. In terms of textual content, photo and video sharing, it was found that video sharing was the most unpleasant to the participants. Participants also believe that their parents communicate more about themselves for social motivation and parental guidance motivation. In this regard, it is seen that it has become essential for parents to show sensitivity in sharing content on social media for digital natives in order to protect the self-esteem of the child/individual, the right to control over their personal information, the representation and integrity of their personality in the digital world. The transition from the stone age to the digital era has radically altered our way of life. No matter their socioeconomic status, everyone around us currently has a mobile device. Immediately, we want to speak with someone, and within a second, we do. Facebook, Instagram, and online games simplify our daily lives, leaving little room for interpersonal relationships. This paper will examine how digitization has affected our interpersonal connections and also changed the way we view relationships from a social/mental health viewpoint. Since technology has lessened the necessity for social interaction, does this imply that we have all become digital natives? To gain a deeper understanding of the topic, this paper proposes a novel perspective supported by prior research. Since this problem has not been substantially investigated, more targeted research is required in the Indian setting.

This best practice aims to describe the use of Augmented Reality (AR) as a 3D interactive learning media that has an impact on increasing the learning motivation of digital native students. AR is a technology that can integrate the dimensions of the virtual world with the real world that can be displayed in real time. AR is implemented to convey the earth's material as a planet class X IPS 1 and X IPS 2 at SMA N 2 Wates. The method in writing this best practice uses a qualitative descriptive approach, with the stages in this best practice activity consisting of the preparation stage, implementation stage and evaluation stage. The author gives a questionnaire to students related to the evaluation of the use of AR which is then analyzed and used as the basis for determining conclusions. Based on the results of the questionnaire, it is known that there is an increase in students' learning motivation in participating in geography learning using AR as a 3D interactive learning medium, from before there were no students who had high motivation, after using AR as a medium 65% of students had very high motivation. In addition, students who have high motivation before using AR are only 3% to 23% of students, using five indicators of student learning motivation assessment, namely the desire to succeed, awareness in learning, persevering in completing assignments, never giving up when facing difficulties, interest in learning. in study. Based on these indicators, it is known that students' learning motivation has increased after using AR. Thus, it can be concluded that AR as a 3D interactive media can increase the learning motivation of digital native students.

The Internet convulsed journalism and created new press models based on budgets radically different from those that traditionally shaped the performance of the profession. Although at first the newspapers created different work structures for paper and web media, the final decision of the journalistic companies was to create a single newsroom for paper and web media. The current study was intended to ascertain the impacts of DLT on students' communication skills. The study was conducted by using an experimental research design. The population of the study comprised of grade VIII students' and English language teachers' of adopted public schools of Karachi while sample size consisted of ninety grade VIII students and two English language teachers. Quasiexperimental research design was selected for the study with 45 each in control and the treatment group. the treatment group students were given treatment by teaching through DLT while the lecture method of teaching was applied to control group students. A test was administered to all students before and after intervention. Independent t-test was used for data analysis. The post-test results revealed that the treatment group students were able to produce good results comparing to the control group students in both reading and writing skills. Researcher suggesed practical implication for teachers to use DLT, TPACK and theories such as UTAUT, socially shared cognition, social cognitive for better teaching learning process. Future researches on students' satisfaction of using DLT, qualitative study on teachers usage of DLT, a large sample study on DLT with multi-grade level students, study with lower and higher socio-economic group, a study for comparing the results of district standardised tests with provincial standardised tests were also recommended. 本文旨在探究數位原住民之特質及課程教學的因應改革之道。首先就數位原住 民之特質進行分析，指出數位原住民的特質有：一、天然數位控；二、思維的空間跳躍；三、現實與超現實的視覺化；四、自我展演；五、知識的數位匯流；六、後真相化。而為了因應這些數位原住民的特質，課程與教學也要有所變革，本文提出兩點建議：一、課程邏輯宜從專業分科翻轉為跨域多元；二、教學方式則自專業權威翻轉為自主、探究與實作。 Through theoretical approach, this paper aims at analyzing the characters of digital natives and the curriculum reform for them. It points out that there are six characters of digital natives like: 1. Born to digital, 2. Space jump, 3. Hyper-real visuality, 4. Selfpresentation, 5. Digital convergence of knowledge, 6. Post-truth. And this paper has two suggestions for curriculum reform: 1. Providing inter-field & multi-perspective courses, 2. Flipping to self-learning & problem-based learning.

Children born into the digital world and grow up with digital tools begin to surf the internet, download files, play games and engage in many different digital activities from an early age. Because these children who grow up in the digital world are exposed to various digital experiences, their brains are constantly renewed, and children are entirely different from their teachers. This study aims to determine the digital profiles of primary school teachers and reveal their opinions about creating a digital culture environment in their classrooms. The findings obtained from the research showed that the majority of the classroom teachers are digital hybrid, the majority of the others are digital immigrants, and very few are digital natives. When the opinions of primary school teachers on the concept of digital culture are examined, it is seen that each teacher in three profiles has basic information about digital culture. The research results reveal that the majority of participating teachers have a digital hybrid profile, who both adopt the use of digital tools and cannot give up traditional methods. This study aims to explore the online communication habits and practices of 12-14-year-old 50 students from an urban school. Measuring their answers on the Digital Native Scale of Timothy Teo (DNAS), this study refers to the suggested four-factor by the author, creating a framework for the analysis of their digital native profile: grown up with technology, comfortable with multi-tasking, reliant on graphics for communication, and thrive on instant rewards (Teo, 2013). The results of the study enhance the understanding of digital natives. As we expected, this research shows a high degree of comfort in online communication in their differentiated profile. It is relevant the issue of age when exemplifying digital natives’ skills. Also, it is estimated that there are similar behaviours, related with the debut age of technology use (4-5 years old). The most common actions in virtual space are surfing on the Internet, photographing, communicating, downloading, disseminating, adding to comments on colleagues’ posts. According to this study, the online communication practices of these 12-14-year-old students include in terms of content various symbols, instant bonuses, and feedback elements. From an educational point of view, these can be included in a structured manner of learning. The article proposes, in this view, several ways to integrate usual students’ communication practices in learning activities with the support of digital resources (virtual bulletin boards, online presentations, digital stories so on). The results indicate that students showed the digital native characteristics, that can be successfully used in school.

Cyberbullying and its associated consequences on children and adolescents has recently become a problem of global concern. Using phenomenological research design, this study explores the negative effects of cyberbullying on Tanzanian secondary school female and male adolescents. A total of 20 adolescents (50% female) in secondary schools (Form I to Form IV) who identified themselves as victims of cyberbullying were involved in the interview to share their lived experiences on the negative effects of cyberbullying. From thematic analysis, results indicated that, similar to their counterpart adolescents in the developed countries, Tanzanian female and male adolescents have experienced emotional, social, cognitive, behavioural, academic, and health problems as outcomes of cyberbullying. The findings provide further evidence that cyberbullying and its negative consequences is a problem to adolescents in many countries in the world, including Tanzania. From its onset on the 1990s, both digital native (with sister headings on the analog platform) as digital native news media have experienced a constant transformation process. The accelerated technological evolution linked to the changing information consumption habits of the users demanded a constant reinvention capability. Furthermore, the need for profit and the drop in advertisement sales have pushed the media to redefine their structure, content and social media presence. The Ibero-American scene has experienced a sprout of a mixture of digital native news media. They are journalistic projects, conceived from and on the Internet, which have reached considerable renown and becoming reference media on the information level. Internet prompted a reduction of the costs related to the creation of media outlets. However, the establishment of a sustainable business model is one of the main challenges. The research presented looks at the business models of Ibero-American digital native news media based on a comparative analysis of 14 case studies, alongside interviews with their founders. The findings include, among other things, a tendency for business models based on diverse and hyper-specialized content targeted at micro-audiences. This research found an interest in horizontality, participation and user engagement, and noticed the need for these media to diversify their income sources.

The combined set of skills needed for producing data journalism (e.g., investigative journalism methods, programming, knowledge in statistics, data management, statistical reporting, and design) challenges the understanding of what competences a journalist needs and the boundaries for the tasks journalists perform. Scholars denote external actors with these types of knowledge as interlopers or actors at the periphery of journalism. In this study, we follow two Swedish digital native data journalism start-ups operating in the Nordics from when they were founded in 2012 to 2019. Although the start-ups have been successful in news journalism over the years and acted as drivers for change in Nordic news innovation, they also have a presence in sectors other than journalism. This qualitative case study, which is based on interviews over time with the start-up founders and a qualitative analysis of blog posts written by the employees at the two start-ups, tells a story of journalists working at the periphery of legacy media, at least temporarily forced to leave journalism behind yet successfully using journalistic thinking outside of journalistic contexts.

Social media is one of the fields for spreading hoaxes or fake news. This study compared the spread patterns of hoax between Generation X and Generation Z. This study used McPrenski's Generation Theory and the concepts of DeFleur and Ball-Rokeach regarding social categories theory. A survey was conducted in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta province, and the sample size was 240. The research was held before the Indonesia General Election2019 due to the high spread of political hoaxes. The hypothesis was tested using the T-test formula. The results showed that there were differences in hoax distribution patterns between both generations. Generation X looked more active in spreading hoax compared to Generation Z. This finding confirmed the Generation Theory and the terminology of digital immigrants and digital natives. The findings can be considered positive since Generation Z, which will be more active in the future, seemed less interested in hoaxes and tended to be more digitally literate. The digital literacy movement should consider the specificities of each target group because each group has different characteristics.

Revolusi industri 4.0 yang didahului dengan perkembangan teknologi informasi yang diyakini membawa generasi baru, yakni mereka yang disebut sebagai generasi Digital Native. Kehadiran generasi baru ini memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan pada semua lini kehidupan termasuk institusi Pendidikan. Menyikapi fenomena ini presiden Jokowidodo mengeluarkan instruksi kepada mentri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan untuk melakukan perombakan besar-besaran kepada kurikulum pendidikan agar adaptif terhadap perubahan sosial dalam masyarakat. Melalui artikel ini penulis akan memberikan kajian ilmiah mengenai alasan pentingnya melanjutkan penerapan kurikulum 2013 dengan memaparkan data dan fakta penerapan kurikulum 2013 selama ini. Artikel ini hadir melalui penelitian yang menggunakan metode penelitian studi dokumen dan Kajian kepustakaan (library research).
