We present a novel photoreconfigurable metasurface designed for independent and efficient control of electromagnetic waves with identical incident polarization and frequency across the entire spatial domain. The proposed metasurface features a three-layer architecture: a top layer incorporating a gold circular split ring resonator (CSRR) filled with perovskite material and dual C-shaped perovskite resonators; a middle layer of polyimide dielectric; and a bottom layer comprising a perovskite substrate with an oppositely oriented circular split ring resonator filled with gold. By modulating the intensity of a laser beam, we achieve autonomous manipulation of incident circularly polarized terahertz waves in both transmission and reflection modes. Simulation results demonstrate that the metasurface achieves a cross-polarized transmission coefficient of 0.82 without laser illumination and a co-polarization reflection coefficient of 0.8 under laser illumination. Leveraging the geometric phase principle, adjustments to the rotational orientation of the reverse split ring and dual C-shaped perovskite structures enable independent control of transmission and reflection phases. Furthermore, the proposed metasurface induces a +1 order orbital angular momentum in transmission and +2 order in reflection, facilitating beam deflection through metasurface convolution principles. Imaging using metasurface digital imaging technology showcases patterns "NUIST" in reflection and "LOONG" in transmission, illustrating the metasurface design principles via the proposed metasurface. The proposed metasurface's capability for full-space control and reconfigurability presents promising applications in advanced imaging systems, dynamic beam steering, and tunable terahertz devices, highlighting its potential for future technological advancements. This paper presents the design of a transmission-type dual-frequency polarization rotator for linearly polarized electromagnetic wave. The rotator facilitates polarization conversion for incident waves at any azimuth angle ϕ at two specific frequency points, resulting in a transmission wave with a counterclockwise rotation of 2ϕ. The proposed polarization rotator structure comprises three metal layers separated by two dielectric substrates. It includes two large rectangular metal patches positioned orthogonally along the x- and y-axes, respectively, as well as two small rectangular metal patches also positioned orthogonally along the x- and y-axes, respectively. The upper and lower metal layers act as the receiving and radiation ends, respectively. The transmitting and receiving ends are interconnected through coaxial metal holes. Remarkably, polarization conversion efficiencies exceeding 0.95 and 0.94 at 12 and 17 GHz, respectively, are achieved, and these high conversion efficiencies remain consistent as the azimuth angle of incidence changes. Furthermore, experimental results obtained from fabricated samples align well with the simulation ones, thus validating the effectiveness of the proposed polarization rotator. The proposed transmissive dual-frequency polarization rotator exhibits good practical application prospects in mobile satellite communications, GNSS, WLAN, etc.

In this paper, a complementary split-ring resonator (CSRR)-based patch antenna is proposed as a microwave sensor to measure the salt concentration of NaCl solution. The microwave sensor consists of an RF-4 substrate, where a small copper disc is attached on the top as the radiator, a larger copper disc integrated with two CSRRs is attached on the bottom side as the finite ground plane, and a coaxial feeding port is introduced at the ground plane center. During salt concentration sensing, only the top disc is immersed into NaCl solution. The results indicate that the proposed microwave sensor can measure salt concentrations ranging from 5‰ to 35‰ with a maximum sensitivity of 0.367 (kHz/(mg/L)). The proposed microwave sensor is low-cost, low-profile, electrically small, lightweight, and easy to fabricate, and it also can be applied to other solutions' concentration sensing. Controlling spin electromagnetic waves by ultra-thin Pancharatnam-Berry (PB) metasurfaces show promising prospects in the optical and wireless communications. One of the major challenge is to precisely control over the complex wavefronts and spatial power intensity characteristics without relying on massive algorithm optimizations, which requires independent amplitude and phase tuning. However, traditional PB phase can only provide phase control. Here, by introducing the interference of dual geometric phases, we propose a metasurface that can provide arbitrary amplitude and phase manipulations on meta-atom level for spin waves, achieving direct routing of multi-beams with desired intensity distribution. As the experimental demonstration, we design two microwave metasurfaces for respectively controlling the far-field and near-field multi-beam generations with desired spatial scatterings and power allocations, achieving full control of both sophisticated wavefronts and their energy distribution. This approach to directly generate editable spatial beam intensity with tailored wavefront may pave a way to design advanced meta-devices that can be potentially used in many real-world applications, such as multifunctional, multiple-input multiple-output and high-quality imaging devices.

One hundred eighty pairs of tissues of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) were tested by the transcriptome sequencing in order to explore etiology factors. The chi‐square test and correlation analysis demonstrated that the relative expression levels of keratin 17 (KRT17) and collagen type I α1 chain (COL1A1) were significantly higher in EC with diabetes. Expression of KRT17 was correlated with blood glucose (r = 0.204, p = 0.001) and tumor size (r = −0.177, p = 0.038) in patients. COL1A1 correlated with age (r = −0.170, p = 0.029) and blood glucose levels (r = 0.190, p = 0.015). Experimental results of qRT‐PCR: KRT17 and COL1A1 genes were highly expressed in ESCC (p < 0.05). When the two genes were used as a combination test, the positive detection rate of EC was 90.6%, and the ROC curve had greater power. The KRT17 and COL1A1 genes had the potential to be biomarkers for the diagnosis of ESCC. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Narrow absorption bandwidth has been a fundamental drawback hindering many metamaterial absorbers for practical applications. In this paper, by loading lumped resistors, we have successfully designed a microwave metamaterial absorber with multioctave wide absorption bandwidth covering the entire X- and Ku-bands, while keeping the thickness of the absorber less than 1/10 of the working wavelength. The polarization-insensitive absorber shows a good angular stability for both transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (TM) incidences. Prototype has been fabricated and measured to validate the design principle and the simulated results, and good agreements are observed between simulated and measured results. The proposed metamaterial absorber offers an efficient way to realize broadband microwave absorption with stable angular performance, which may find potential uses in many applications, for example, electromagnetic compatibility.

Research was done on the reaction chemistry in the afterglow of oxygen in helium, which is studied, by ultraviolet absorption spectroscopy, optical emission spectroscopy and numerical modeling. In conclusion, the etching rate of polyimide correlated with the concentration of oxygen atoms in the afterglow, indicating that the O atoms were the active species involved in the process.

The influence of probe edge, displacement current and sheath motion on temporal Langmuir probe ion saturation current measurements was examined for a pulsed laser generated plasma for the period 100 nanoseconds to 1,000 nanoseconds following the activation of the laser pulse. The results showed that the sheath motion and edge effects have significant influence, while the effect of the displacement current was negligible. Comparison with the predicted densities revealed that the obtained values are 30% lower.
