In early 1799 French authorities issued orders to identify and register Ottoman Muslims within the territory of the Republic, followed by orders to arrest Algerian subjects and sequester their property. The immediate context of the policing operation was France's unprovoked July 1798 invasion of Egypt, leading to the Ottoman declaration of war in September. But the aims of this botched and almost entirely fruitless operation are harder to discern. Presented as a way of ensuring the safety of French subjects who had been detained in Istanbul and Algiers, it only exacerbated tensions. It was less a proportionate diplomatic action than a Machiavellian tactic by the foreign minister, Talleyrand. In the interests of ending the Revolution in France, Talleyrand sought to aggravate the war and drive the Ottoman Empire into the arms of the anti‐French coalition. The new anti‐Muslim rhetoric that emerged in this process outlasted Talleyrand's ministry and contributed to the fragmentation of republican universalism in the lead‐up to Napoleon Bonaparte's coup d'état at the end of 1799. The article examines the role of financial policy in the economy of Ukraine at the beginning of the 20th century, as the main tool for supporting its financial potential in the conditions of military conflict, in which our state was constantly in after leaving the empire. The methodological basis of the work is general and special methods of scientific research and cognition, including methods of theoretical generalization, synthesis and analysis, comparison, modeling, etc. Scientific articles and monographs of many domestic scientists were used as the main information base, in particular the works of P.Gai-Nyzhnyk, V.Polishchuk, O.Kopylenka and M.Kopylenka, O.Mironenko and others. The study of the financial component of the short-lived functioning of the Ukrainian state at the beginning of the 20th century is an actual scientific and practical task. In particular, the mistakes of the governments of Ukraine at that time, including those in the financial area, led to the state existing for only four years. The geopolitical situation at the beginning of the 21st century looks similar to the one that happened hundred years ago, because today Ukraine is again involved in a conflict with an aggressive eastern neighbor, which again threatens to destroy its sovereignty. The study of achievements and mistakes of the financial policy of the governments of the Ukrainian state at the beginning of the 20th century is an opportunity for modern scientists to analyze their activities with the aim of creating a reliable long-term financial policy for today and for the future, taking into account modern trends and technologies. The study of the financial policy of the governments of Ukraine during the time of the Central Rada, the Hetmanate and the Directory makes it possible today to correctly assess the threats and risks facing the state in a new military conflict «to exhaustion», to apply the right tools to support domestic business and the stability of its own currency, to mobilize its own financial resources and the economy as a whole for their own survival.

Plastic pollution has penetrated every part of our earth and oceans with long lasting consequences that we are only beginning to understand and address. The environmental and health impacts are widespread, affecting our lives in ways we can no longer ignore. Raw plastic production is also contributing to our reliance on fossil fuels, which is contributing to climate change. This crisis requires systemic change from the source. Without wide-scale extender producer responsibility, the unregulated production combined with our consumer driven societies has allowed the waste of plastic products to burden the end user. However, our throw away culture is beginning to shift. Consumer awareness is trending towards sustainability and zero waste solutions. This momentum has led to an emerging solution-focused idea, circular economies. By designing products for reuse to put back into the production loop we can save materials, energy, and waste from polluting our environment.This issue has become apparent in the restaurant industry with varying levels of effort to move away from single-use plastics. I noticed a gap with restaurants trying to navigate towards more sustainable practices and finding the best packaging alternatives that could serve them. My capstone helps close the loop by connecting these businesses with the resources they need to streamline their path to sustainability. The purpose of this project was to make circular economy foodware services and sustainable packaging product replacements more easily known and accessible. It was also created as a resource to help restaurants comply with local and state level laws and ordinances around packaging bans. I did this by creating a one-stop-shop website with an online directory of sustainable vendors, a how-to guidebook, and case study stories. Collaborating with Surfirder’s Ocean Friendly Restaurant program, this project is intended to support their restaurant network here in San Diego and nationwide. Obtaining disaster response feedback from the epicenter and surrounding areas in the shortest possible time is an important part of post-earthquake emergency work and the most important aspect of emergency decision-making. Work practice has shown that, compared to passively waiting for personnel to report, actively calling the affected areas is more conducive to quickly obtaining disaster information, thereby improving the efficiency of post-earthquake emergency response. Based on the advantage that government duty telephones have dedicated personnel on duty, this paper collects the data of government duty telephones and police station duty telephones in towns and streets of 13 cities in Jiangsu Province. Combined with the characteristics of light weight and easy operation of WeChat mini program, we designed and implemented a Jiangsu earthquake emergency contact directory. This program realizes real-time interactive inquiry of address book information, completes the function of quickly, accurately, and conveniently dialing calls, and also ensures the connection rate of the phone to a certain extent. At the same time, through the daily maintenance of the database, the instant availability of data is guaranteed. Compared with the traditional manual query method, it is more intuitive and efficient, and effectively reduces the time cost and process error in the post-earthquake emergency response process.

As the number of cores in a chip multiprocessor increase, the directory size becomes excessive. Current research shows that directory size can be reduced by tracking private entries with coarse-grain directory entries called region entries. In order to indicate which blocks the region owner has cached, the present vector in the region entries in the dual-grain directory (DGD) uses a bit vector format. If a coarser-grain region granularity is used, the length of the region entries becomes excessive. Besides, most of the latest scalable directories use the short-entry directory format with only one pointer. Therefore, DGD has limited flexibility of region granularity and is incompatible with the latest scalable directories. In this paper, we propose a scalable short-entry dual-grain coherence directory with flexible region granularity (SS-DGD). In private region entries, a counter is used instead of the original bit vector. Region entries using counters and private block entries using a single pointer always have the same length, giving SS-DGD the flexibility of region size. To reduce the directory size, SS-DGD is divided into a shared directory and a private directory that includes private block entries and private region entries. With the same total number of directory entries, SS-DGD has a smaller directory size than previous DGD because the private directory entries in SS-DGD are shorter. And the detailed simulation-based study shows that there are no statistically significant differences in execution time and network traffic between SS-DGD and DGD. In the 64-core system, our proposal can reduce the directory size by 29.9%. More importantly, the region entries in SS-DGD can be used in the latest scalable directories and have a high potential to compress the number of directory entries. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Interlaced Magnetic Recording (IMR) is an emerging recording technology for hard-disk drives (HDDs) that provides larger storage capacity at a lower cost. By partially overlapping (interlacing) each bottom track with two adjacent top tracks, IMR-based HDDs successfully increase the data density while incurring some hardware write constraints. To update each bottom track, the data on two adjacent top tracks must be read and rewritten to avoid losing their valid data, resulting in additional overhead for performing read-modify-write (RMW) operations. Therefore, researchers have proposed various data management schemes to mitigate such overhead in recent years, aiming at improving the write performance. However, these designs have not taken into account the data characteristics of the file system, which is a crucial layer of operating systems for storing/ retrieving data into/from HDDs. Consequently, the write performance improvement is limited due to the unawareness of spatial locality and hotness of data. This paper proposes a file-system-aware data management scheme called FSIMR to improve system write performance. Noticing that data of the same directory may have higher spatial locality and are mostly updated at the same time, FSIMR logically partitions the IMR-based HDD into fixed-sized zones; data belonging to the same directory will be arranged to one zone to reduce the time of seeking to-be-updated data (seek time). Furthermore, cold data within a zone are arranged to bottom tracks and updated in an out-of-place manner to eliminate RMW operations. Our experimental results show that the proposed FSIMR could reduce the seek time by up to 14% without introducing additional RMW operations, compared to existing designs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Provider directories may serve as a bridge solution until lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and other sexual and gender minority (LGBTQ+) education becomes a requisite within standard medical education. The three national LGBTQ+-competent provider directories in the United States were evaluated. Two directories served the LGBTQ+ community while one served the gender minority community. All enumerated thousands of providers. One allowed provider-specific feedback. All provided searchable criteria (e.g., provider name, location, specialty, population identity, service type, payment types, gender identity, and languages spoken). This research analyses two cases: the actions of the lawyers Pedro José Agrelo and Gregorio Tagle, who remained in political leadership in Río de la Plata, despite the crisis of central power in 1820. From opposing positions, both intervened publicly and acted as referents of their respective spaces. Through the analysis of their practices and discourses, the aim is to provide knowledge about the role of these scholars in the period in question, the functioning of the socio-political networks that supported them and the particularities of their actions in the context of the war and the crisis of institutionalism in the territory. For this purpose, the sources used are the libels and manifestos of the time, together with government documents and the unpublished memoirs of Pedro José Agrelo, preserved in the General Archive of the Argentine Nation. The aim of the article is to read Vincent’s famous painting La Leçon de labourage as an opportunistic or sincere way for the manufacturer Boyer-Fonfrède to seize upon the « Thermidorian » promotion of human and agricultural sciences in order to contribute to the construction of a new social and political order. It is also a question of making it the starting point of a reflection on the mobilization of the figures of domestication and on what can be a directorial republican ecology.

Background: Crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs) are religious nonprofit organizations with a primary mission of diverting people from having abortions. One CPC tactic has been to locate near abortion facilities. Despite medical groups' warnings that CPCs do not adhere to medical and ethical standards and pose risks, government support for CPCs has significantly increased., Objective: This study aims to map CPCs, abortion facilities, and geographical areas in the United States into 4 zones based on their proximity to CPCs and abortion facilities. We sought to describe the number and percentage of reproductive-aged women living in each zone and the proximity of CPCs to abortion facilities., Methods: Using 2021 data from CPC Map and the Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health Abortion Facility Database, we determined the ratio of CPCs to abortion facilities. Along with census data, we categorized and mapped US block groups into 4 distinct zones based on locations of block group centroids within 15-mile (1 mile is approximately 1.609 km) radii of CPCs and abortion facilities, namely "no presence," "CPC only," "abortion facility only," and "dual presence." We calculated the number and percentage of block groups and reproductive-aged (15-49 years) women living in each zone. We calculated driving distances and drive times from abortion facilities to the nearest CPC and mapped abortion facilities with CPCs in close proximity. All analyses were conducted nationally and by region, division, and state., Results: Nationally, the ratio of CPCs to abortion facilities was 3.4, and 54.9% (131,410/239,462) of block groups were categorized in the "dual presence" zone, 26.6% (63,679/239,462) as "CPC only," and 0.8% (63,679/239,462) as "abortion facility only." Most reproductive-aged women (45,150,110/75,582,028, 59.7%) lived in a "dual presence" zone, 26.1% (19,696,572/75,582,028) in a "CPC only" zone, and 0.8% (625,403/75,582,028) in an "abortion facility only" zone. The number of block groups and women classified as living in each zone varied by region, division, and state. Nationally, the median distance from abortion facilities to the nearest CPC was 2 miles, and the median drive time was 5.5 minutes. Minimum drive times were <1 minute in all but 11 states. The percentages of abortion facilities with a CPC within 0.25, 0.5, 1, and 3 miles were 14.1% (107/757), 22.6% (171/757), 36.1% (273/757), and 66.3% (502/757), respectively., Conclusions: The findings suggest that CPCs' tactic of locating near abortion facilities was largely realized before the 2022 US Supreme Court decision that overturned the federal right to abortion. Research on CPCs' locations and tactics should continue given the dynamic abortion policy landscape and risks posed by CPCs. Tailored programming to raise awareness about CPCs and help people identify and access safe sources of health care may mitigate harm. Aim To identify and categorise active wound care education courses available to healthcare workers in Australia in order to establish an accessible wound care education resource directory. Method A modified point prevalence enquiry of active wound care education courses was conducted in 2021. Data was collected via an initial desk search, with follow-up by direct contact with education course providers and representative wound care professionals as required to identify and categorise wound care education courses. Results Sixty-one (61) currently available active wound care educational courses available to healthcare workers met the inclusion criteria for identification and categorisation, providing the content for an online accessible wound care education resource directory. Conclusion Access to wound care educational courses in Australia is ad hoc, with courses identified as available from a wide range of providers. The identification and categorisation of these courses providing the content for an online accessible wound care education resource directory will likely improve access to knowledge and treatments leading to improved consumer outcomes. This article reinterprets Antoine Quatremère de Quincy's Letters on the Plan to Abduct the Monuments of Italy (1796). In response to official justifications that seizing cultural patrimony was France's civilizing mission, Quatremère argued that civilization required all nations to leave Rome intact and respect eighteenth-century conventions. The article shows how he attempted to make his work acceptable to republican readers by using a language uncharacteristic of his other writings and by mimicking the concept of a singular and secular civilization that was central to the post-Thermidorian Republic's identity. The Letters was part of the broader strategy of the royalist Clichy club to make republicans question the Republic. However, informed contemporaries saw through his conceit: they discerned an attack on the Directory in his description of how the papacy nourished and protected the civilization but endangered it in practice. Cet article propose une nouvelle lecture des Lettres sur le déplacement des monuments de l'art de l'Italie (1796). Au discours officiel qui justifiait la saisie du patrimoine culturel de l'Italie vaincue au nom de la mission civilisatrice de la France, Quatremère oppose l'idée que c'est justement au nom de la civilisation que Rome doit être protégée et qu'il faut respecter les droits des nations tels qu'on les a définis au XVIIIe siècle. Quatremère s'est efforcé de présenter son texte de manière à le rendre acceptable aux lecteurs républicains : pour ce faire, il a eu recours à un langage très différent de celui de ses autres écrits, et il a fait semblant d'adhérer à l'idée de la civilisation unique et laïque au cœur de l'idéologie de la République post-Thermidorienne. Malgré ces efforts, les lecteurs avertis ont décelé son stratagème qui consiste à attaquer le Directoire tout en faisant de la papauté la vraie protectrice d'une civilisation que la République affirme défendre mais attaque en réalité. Women continue to be underrepresented and less visible in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine (STEMM). 500 Women Scientists created and launched in January 2018 a global (>140 countries to date), online, open-access directory of women in STEMM fields. This directory—recently renamed gage—now also includes gender diverse persons (i.e., additional underrepresented genders) in STEMM fields. The purpose of the directory is to make these scientists’ expertise easier to locate and access for conference organizers, journalists, policy makers, educators, and others. Here, we undertake an assessment of the directory using surveys, Google Analytics, and focus groups to understand its efficacy and direction to date and identify future improvements we pledge to undertake. Through this assessment—conducted externally and in accordance with privacy protocols by Concolor Research—we identified who and how people are using our directory, why people signed up to be a resource, and areas for improvement. Through such assessment, we can learn how to enhance the directory’s efficacy and our broader efforts to boost the visibility of underrepresented people in STEMM.

Objectives: Falls and fall‐related injuries amongst older people continue to be a long‐term public health issue. Access to specialist services that target fall prevention has been shown to improve outcomes. This project aimed to develop an online directory of public outpatient and ambulatory falls and balance clinics and programs in Victoria. Method: Environmental scan of existing services and survey of service providers between January and August 2020. Results: Forty‐seven community‐based and 53 hospital‐based falls and balance services across metropolitan (46%) and regional (54%) Victoria registered. The majority of services were programs (70%) targeting exercise and/or education, as opposed to clinics (30%), which focus on diagnosis and developing management plans. Survey responses were collated to develop an online service directory: https://www.nari.net.au/victorian‐falls‐directory Conclusions: The Victorian Falls and Balance Service Directory provides a centralised and accessible reference for clinicians and community members regarding available outpatient and ambulatory services that target fall prevention. Introduction. From mid-1918 to mid-1919, Russia’s East was a scene of tough militarypolitical confrontation. National movements were also involved in this confrontation. Goals. The article aims to show the place of national movements in the all-Russian alignment of political forces. Materials and Methods. The materials investigated are documents from the National Archive of Bashkortostan, State Archive of the Russian Federation, articles from periodicals issued during the Russian Civil War, other published sources and memoirs. Results. The paper shows the position of national movements on the most important issues of the anti-Bolshevik camp, reveals the similarities and differences between different currents within national movements, their relationships with various groups of the anti-Bolshevik camp. Conclusions are drawn regarding the place of national movements in the all-Russian alignment of political forces.

In this article, we will consider the figure of Napoleon Bonaparte through self-fashioning, that is, the process of construction of his identity, his celebrity and his legitimacy during the French Directory, through three carefully facets designed and exploited by him: the warrior/military hero, the peacemaker/saviour hero of the nation and the reformer/administrator hero. In the desire to know the different heroic constructions of the Corsican general, we have focused our search on the French press of the last decade of the 18th century, focusing on four large groups of journals with different political ideologies: the moderate newspapers, the left-wing journals, the newspapers published by Bonaparte, and, finally, the royalist press.

Papaya is a popular vegetable and fruit in both developing and developed countries. Nonetheless, Bangladesh's agricultural landscape is significantly influenced by papaya cultivation. However, disease is a common impediment to papaya productivity, adversely affecting papaya quality and yield and leading to substantial economic losses for farmers. Research suggests that computer-aided disease diagnosis and machine learning (ML) models can improve papaya production by detecting and classifying diseases. In this line, a dataset of papaya is required to diagnose the disease. Moreover, like many other fruits, papaya disease may vary from country to country. Therefore, the country-based papaya disease dataset is required. In this study, a papaya dataset is collected from Dhaka, Bangladesh. This dataset contains 2159 original images from five classes, including the healthy control class and four papaya leaf diseases: Anthracnose, Bacterial Spot, Curl, and Ring spot. Besides the original images, the dataset contains 210 annotated data for each of the five classes. The dataset contains two types of data: the whole image and the annotated image . The image will interest data scientists who apply disease detection through a convolutional neural network (CNN) and its variants. Furthermore, the annotated images, such as You Only Look Once (YOLO), U-Net, Mask R-CNN, and Single Shot Detection (SSD), will be helpful for semantic segmentation. Since firm-applicable AI devices and mobile and web applications are in demand, the dataset collected in this study will offer multiple options for integrating ML models into AI devices. Combining archival research, reviews in the press, and scholarship on the Napoleonic legend, this article analyses five waves of plays that were linked to Bonaparte from 1797 to the coup of 18 Brumaire to give the first proper study of the creation and contestation of Bonaparte’s theatrical masks during this transformative period. In so doing, it shows the how circumstantial plays slotted Bonaparte into a longer theatrical heritage; the development of his association in the theatre with the Italian and Egyptian campaigns, associations that would be emphasized during the Consulate and Empire, and then after Napoleon’s fall in 1815 for the Napoleonic legend; and how these theatrical masks were feared and tailored by the state, a practice that also continued well beyond 18 Brumaire and well into the nineteenth century.

Abstract: The Social Media Directory of Academic Libraries (SMDAL) website is a directory of hundreds of international academic library social media accounts across numerous social media platforms. The SMDAL is an online resource designed by academic librarians in New Jersey that launched on May 31, 2018. In June 2018, the site had nearly 2,000 site visits by more than 600 unique users, across ten countries worldwide. This article presents the development of the SMDAL, discusses the value of the content it provides, details the technology and tools used to create the directory website, and touches on the ongoing expansion and new initiatives of the project. Of special interest are two challenges that were faced by the directory team: maintaining the long-term viability of the project and overcoming language barriers caused by an international expansion—which was solved by developing partnerships with librarians around the globe. The aim of the article is to analyze B.Martos' organizational and scientificpedagogical activities, focused on the formation and development of a democratic independent Ukraine, the formation of national consensus during the Ukrainian Revolution. He often acted as a confrontational factor, especially with regard to the Western Ukrainian People's Republic, conducting scientific research. After the defeat of the revolution, he found himself in exile, where he became one of the organizers and leaders of the Ukrainian Academy of Economics and the Ukrainian Technical and Economic Institute. He was engaged in the training of highly qualified economic personnel, research work in the field of economics, theory and practice of cooperation, as well as public activities. The methodological basis is the principles of historicism, objectivity, science. The general scientific methods (analysis, synthesis, generalization), periodization and classification were used. The application of these methods contributed to the objective, scientific reflection of the activities of a number of governmental structures of the Ukrainian People's Republic 1917-1920, Ukrainian universities in exile, where B.Martos worked, the results of his work in different periods. Special historical methods (archival and source analysis, personalization, historical-logical, biographical) served as a way to obtain new knowledge from historiographical, archival, biographical materials, determine their value, place in the intellectual achievements of scientists of the Ukrainian diaspora and the world scientific community. Conclusions. It is proved that the active state, political and public activity of B.Martos as Minister of Food, Minister of Finance, Chairman of the Council of People's Ministers in governmental structures of the Ukrainian Central Council and the Directory focused on restoring and building national statehood in the form of a democratic republic, protection of Ukraine's interests, the solution of political and legal problems, lawmaking. B.Martos' organizational, pedagogical and research activities in the field of economics, the theory of formation and functioning of cooperation, organization and conduct of educational work was aimed at achieving this goal. Since the genre of fairy tale is the most “permeable” realm of folklore, any national set of fairy tale plots is diverse enough and — in addition to the authentic plots — contains a considerable number of those borrowed from other peoples. However, it is not that easy to identify them for, as V. M. Zhirmunsky wrote, taletellers “tend to transform them within the context of their cultural frameworks”. Still, the plot connections of Adyghe fairy tales to fairy tales of other peoples is a historical question of great scientific interest. The paper discusses the issue of mutual relations between the plots of Adyghe fairy tales and those of other Caucasian peoples — from the perspective of historical interaction between the peoples that go back for centuries. Articulation of the issue as such is possible due to the Directory of Adyghe Fairy-Tale Plots compiled by the author which provides parallels from fairy tales of other Caucasian peoples. The largest number of fairy tale plots similar to those of Adyghe folklore were discovered in the oral tradition of Dagestani peoples. It is noteworthy that in most cases those are fairy tales that resemble parables or defi nitely contain some didactic components. The common features of plot structures of the Adygheans and Abkhazians that share the same linguistic and cultural ancestry are also of defi nite scientifi c interest (plot types -921В****** “Wishful words for a newborn”; -922* “A witty fi sherman”; -1448* “Reeducating a wife”; -1600 “A fool – a murderer”; -1294А* “They are carrying a girl to a cemetery: a hand stuck in a jar”). Type 1653 “Robbers under a tree” can be found not only among the Adygheans and Abkhazians but also among their cognate people — the Abazins. Moreover, in Adyghe and Karachay- Balkar folklore there are some fairy tales with identical titles and names of characters; and it is in Balkar folklore that a plot parallel with the famous Adyghe fairy tale AT 889 “A devoted shepherd” was determined by the author. Summarizing the results of individual studies, the author concludes that contacts with other peoples of the Caucasus played a signifi cant role in the formation of the set of plots of Adyghe household fairy tales. The creative interaction of the diverse peoples resulted in the rich common Caucasian fund of folklore plots.
