El objetivo fundamental de este trabajo consiste en presentar una visión general de la distribución del léxico en los diferentes países hispánicos. Los datos proceden del Diccionario de Frecuencias Léxicas, incorporado a la versión 1.1 del CORPES, construido sobre 180 millones de formas procedentes de los textos de prensa de este corpus. Los resultados obtenidos, que utilizan también en los índices de dispersión, muestran un alto grado de congruencia, relacionada con la frecuencia de uso, compatible con la esperable diferencia entre las variedades, fundamentada en la frecuencia de inventario.

The spatial and temporal patterns and dynamics of biological community structure can be better understood through the lens of metacommunity theory, in which the effect of local (deterministic processes, ecological niche theory) and regional (stochastic processes, neutral theory) processes are evaluated as the main predictors of phytoplankton. The objective of this paper was to evaluate the effect of local environmental characteristics, spatial, and landscape predictors on the phytoplankton community in lakes of the Araguaia River floodplain. We evaluated the following questions: (i) What is the specific importance of physical and chemical water characteristics (local environmental predictors), dispersive processes (spatial predictors), and land use and occupancy (landscape predictors) in the phytoplankton metacommunity structure, both for taxonomic and functional groups? (ii) Does the buffer size used in land use and land cover measurement around the sampling units show differences in phytoplankton community prediction? All the predictors could explain the phytoplankton structure but the spatial were the most important. The buffers showed different predictive abilities, with taxonomic classification being related to larger sizes of buffers and functional groups the opposite. The great influence of spatial predictors can be explained by source-sink dynamics, where dispersal is so strong that it can diminish the effects of local predictors and guarantee a large flux of organisms to sink communities. In conclusion, dispersive processes have been shown to strongly influence the spatial structuring of the phytoplankton metacommunity and we highlight the need to consider buffers' size when assessing the landscape's effect on phytoplankton communities. RESUMO Árvores fornecem habitat e recursos para a fauna residente e transiente nas cidades. A escolha de espécies arbóreas para plantio urbano segue critérios multifatoriais, mas pouco considera os recursos que elas disponibilizam para a fauna. Objetivamos identificar grupos funcionais de 154 espécies arbóreas nativas indicadas para plantio urbano do município de São Paulo a partir dos recursos florais e frutíferos disponibilizados para visitantes florais e frutíferos potenciais. Observamos um número proporcional de espécies com dispersão abiótica e biótica e um predomínio de espécies de arbóreas polinizadas por abelhas ou com frutos carnosos consumidos por aves. Propusemos oito grupos funcionais caracterizados pelo compartilhamento de visitantes florais e frugívoros potenciais que apresentaram uma riqueza desigual. Uma escolha focada na identificação taxonômica e porte das espécies pode promover uma alta redundância funcional e impactar a riqueza de interações planta-animal e diminuir a permeabilidade das cidades para fauna.

Propõe-se o estudo das semioses engendradas pelas minorias como atos de comunicação. Tal perspectiva, ao impor a primazia dos processos de comunicação sobre os sistemas de significação, desloca o foco das teorias dos códigos para as teorias da produção sígnica, aqui abordadas do ponto de vista das dispersões que produzem em relação à cultura das mídias. Entre as diversas opções capazes de tematizar minorias, abordam-se, aqui, aquelas associadas aos regimes sexuais e racistas, por se considerar que esses regimes caracterizam as comunicações no século XX. Assim, as homossexualidades tematizam as dispersões no âmbito da sexualidade e os racismos constituem as técnicas que estabelecem um tipo de contexto em que as minorias são identificáveis.

The drift movement consists of the displacement of the organisms inside the water column which allows its passive locomotion. This movement will result in a variation of the communities of organisms along the river, generating spatial patterns. Based on this, we tested the hypotheses a) the drift of individuals in an upstreamdownstream direction creates a nestedness pattern, when the upstream is a subset of downstream communities of aquatic insects; b) there will be an increase in the number of individuals and genera as we approach the most downstream point. The present study was carried out in seven sampling points distributed along the Xingu River. The sampling occurred at night in the central area of the river. The number of genera along the river remained constant, and the nestedness distribution of the communities in the upstream-downstream gradient was not observed. Based on the results, it is possible to visualize a turnover of genera in the longitudinal gradient of the river, but with an accumulation of genera in the downstream region. Organisms that are transported by the flow of the water current respond to the characteristics of the body of water by adapting to the type of environment in which they are found. Este trabalho realizou uma análise de estudos sobre florística de plantas consideradas daninhas presentes em cultivos na Caatinga. Os dados foram obtidos através de 40 artigos científicos de periódicos acadêmicos disponíveis na plataforma on-line do Google Acadêmico. Foram levantadas informações morfológicas, ecológicas e biogeográficas das espécies, avaliando também a similaridade e análise de regressão das áreas amostradas. 179 espécies foram identificadas, sendo 55 destas consideradas exóticas. Nas assembleias florísticas predominaram espécies herbáceas, terófitas, autocóricas e pantropicais. Os agrossistemas avaliados apresentaram baixa similaridade entre si, revelando floras mais heterogêneas do que o esperado, não seguindo o modelo previsto na Teoria de Biogeografia de Ilhas. A análise de regressão indicou relação não significativa entre distância geográfica e o Índice de Similaridade de Jaccard. Desse modo, os resultados mostram que plantas daninhas, na Caatinga, apesar de serem compostas por espécies generalistas e de ampla distribuição geográfica, suas assembleias são estruturadas de forma distintas.

This paper suggests a theoretical model, in which the manager's tenure and the dispersion of competitive intelligence have effects on sales efficiency. The dispersion of competitive intelligence consists of how much variation there is in the knowledge and the manager's tenure means the time that the manager is working in the firm. The paper brings the following contributions: first, by the theoretical model of competitive intelligence, the greater the dispersion of competitive intelligence, the lower the sales efficiency at individual level. Second, the greater the manager experience, the better the direct relationship between competitive intelligence and efficiency. Opportunities for future research are suggested.

Frequent application of glyphosate for consecutive years has enhanced the selection pressure on sourgrass (Digitaria insularis) populations, which resulted in the development of glyphosate-resistant biotypes. Therefore, this work was developed with the objective of monitoring sourgrass resistance to glyphosate, develop a baseline of sourgrass susceptibility to this molecule and, consequently, identify the discriminatory dose between resistant and susceptible populations. This work was divided into three steps. The first step consisted of identifying and sorting sourgrass resistant and susceptible biotypes among 30 samples. In the second step, glyphosate baseline was elaborated considering exclusively the glyphosate-susceptible biotypes, which allowed the definition of a discriminatory dose. At the end, the third step, monitoring of glyphosate-resistant biotypes was achieved, considering five growing seasons (2016 - 2020) and 809 samples of sourgrass populations, collected throughout 12 states of Brazil. Glyphosate baseline was elaborated to sourgrass and ideal discriminatory rate was identified as 960 g ha-1. Glyphosate-resistant populations of sourgrass were found in all soybean growing regions sampled. Among 809 populations, 25.96% were considered resistant to glyphosate. The states with the highest frequency of glyphosate-resistant populations were Rio Grande do Sul, Mato Grosso do Sul, Bahia, Mato Grosso and Paraná. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A técnica de marcação permite estudar os comportamentos e interações ecológicas dos insetos, como por exemplo padrões de dispersão, movimento, territorialidade, manuseio, consumo de alimentos, associações vetor-parasita, e cadeias ou teias alimentares. Essa revisão descreve as vantagens e desvantagens dos marcadores, destacando três métodos cujo diferencial é a permanência no inseto independente do estágio de vida. Os radioisótopos minimizam a manipulação direta e o trauma nos insetos, podem ser aplicados em grandes populações e são facilmente rastreáveis, porém o seu descarte limita a aplicação em campo. Os isótopos estáveis ocorrem naturalmente no ambiente, não são radioativos e estão relacionados à estudos ecológicos de níveis tróficos e processos metabólicos, dentre os elementos mais são utilizados, os isótopos de carbono refletem principalmente a dieta dos animais; os isótopos de nitrogênio refletem as práticas agrícolas (extensiva x intensiva) e em parte a dieta. Os isótopos de oxigênio e hidrogênio são vinculados à composição isotópica da água que, por sua vez, é dependente de fatores geográficos tais como altitude, clima e latitude. Por sua vez, os oligoelementos também são utilizados como marcadores internos (não radioativos) e podem variar de acordo com a localização geográfica alterando as quantidades encontradas nas plantas e insetos. Portanto, a busca de uma melhor metodologia que permita detectar a correlação dos insetos com o homem e o meio ambiente depende do tipo de estudo a ser realizado.

Understand the role of the drivers in vegetation pattern is essential in ecology since diversity plays a major role in the stability and maintenance of plant communities. The murundus are small and scattered earthmounds with a differentiated flora of its surrounding. In our study site (Campo Maior, Piauí, Northeastern Brazil), we classified them in three categories: presence of carnaúba (PC), presence of tucum (PT), and with the absence of palm trees (AP). Here, our goals were (1) to explore alpha diversity using the richness estimator and abundance distribution rank, expecting that palm trees could influence the richness of plant species on murundus; (2) analyzing the species richness-area relationship in the murundus, following the assumptions that the largest one holds more species; (3) find the changes in the species composition (beta diversity) between the three categories of murundus, assuming which the presence of palm trees influence the species composition; and (4) investigate if the distance between murundus is a decisive factor in the species composition, where the closest murundus are the most similar in species composition. Ours results showed that palms trees do not influence the richness of the murundus, the largest murundus are the richest ones, and the turnover predominantly determines beta diversity in the different murundus categories. Furthermore, the distance between the murundus did not determine its floristic similarity. Overall, we demonstrated which the species of palm trees are not the main drive of the plant assemblage in the murundus, however its size comprises a major factor in the richness, with great species substitution, which explains the high plant diversity. Limnoperna fortunei is an invasive alien species (IAS) that cause serious ecological and economic problems in Brazilian freshwater environments. Due to its high dispersion capacity and the lack of new records in peer-reviewed journals we carried out an extensive survey to update the distribution of L. fortunei in the Brazilian hydrographic basins. We also performed a detailed investigation of its distribution in the Upper Uruguay River basin using a molecular method. We presented new records, showing the invasion in new basins and a wide distribution in the basins previously infested. Additionally, we confirmed that the Upper Uruguay River is fully colonized by the golden mussel, being distributed in the lentic, lotic, and transitional lotic/lentic environments presented in this region. This update is an important tool for the implementation of guidelines and the development of safety protocols and sanitary barriers to avoid the dispersion of this IAS to new environments. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo caracterizar a estrutura horizontal de uma área da Floresta Amazônica primária e a distribuição espacial das espécies Goupia glabra (Aubl.), Qualea spp. e Dipteryx odorata (Aubl.) Willd., por meio da análise da densidade de Kernel, visando embasar o planejamento do manejo florestal. A área de estudo localiza-se em Santa Carmem, microrregião de Sinop, estado do Mato Grosso (1.024 ha), onde foram mensurados todos os indivíduos com diâmetro a 1,30 m do solo ≥ 30 cm. Foram calculadas as densidades, frequências e dominâncias, absolutas e relativas, além dos índices de valor de importância e de cobertura. A densidade de Kernel e a análise de dispersão em nível de espécie foram obtidas com o programa ArcGIS. A área foi classificada pelo índice de Shannon como de baixa diversidade e mais de 50% das espécies foram classificadas com tendência a agrupamento. Qualea spp. apresentou os maiores valores para todos os parâmetros analisados. Observou-se que a maior concentração de indivíduos se dá nas classes diamétricas passíveis de exploração. A aplicação da densidade de Kernel surge como uma ferramenta promissora ao planejamento do manejo florestal sustentável, permitindo a definição de zonas preferenciais para exploração sustentável.

Em minha proposta de letramento, a relação entre ser alfabetizado e ser letrado não é linear, o que acarreta um giro teórico e metodológico na questão, visto que deixamos de considerar indivíduos empíricos que fazem uso da escrita, e sim posições de sujeito dentro do continuum do letramento, o que implica considerar o lado da perda: as práticas orais. Defendo a proposta de um continuum, a graduação de um saber sobre a escrita, que seria independente de variáveis tais como alfabetização, escolaridade e escolarização. Sendo assim, não é a língua que é considerada como parâmetro, mas os discursos que servem de suporte às práticas letradas. Também a dicotomia língua oral/língua escrita não serve mais, devido à interpenetração. O que está em questão não é se o sujeito é alfabetizado, mas em que medida ele pode ocupar a posição de autor. Mobilizarei os conceitos de dispersão e deriva para descrever o processo de autoria. O sujeito ocupa a posição de autor quando retroage sobre o processo de produção de sentidos, procurando amarrar a dispersão que está sempre se instalando, devido à equivocidade da língua, e produz aquilo que Lacan denominou de point de capiton, lugares do processo de enunciação onde há indícios de que o sujeito efetuou um movimento de retorno ao enunciado, e pode, assim, olhá-lo de outro lugar. Se consegue cercar a dispersão, o autor, no entanto, não irá nunca evitar a deriva de sentidos, produto da equivocidade da língua. Ao longo da exposição, apresentarei análises de corpora.

Resumo Afloramentos rochosos são relevos residuais montanhosos que ocorrem em regiões tropicais, subtropicais e temperadas de todo o mundo. Nesse trabalho, nossos objetivos foram entender os padrões de riqueza e similaridade florística de plantas trepadeiras em afloramentos rochosos no nordeste do Brasil, bem como, compreender aspectos morfológicos e formas de dispersão dessas espécies. As análises foram realizadas utilizando uma lista florística de plantas trepadeiras registradas em inventários de afloramentos rochosos, nos estados da Paraíba e Pernambuco. Foram identificadas 143 espécies, 66 gêneros e 25 famílias. Quanto ao aspecto morfológico, 72% das espécies são trepadeiras herbáceas e 28% são lenhosas (lianas). O mecanismo de ascensão mais frequente foi o volúvel (66%) e a síndrome de dispersão mais representativa foi autocoria (44%). A riqueza de trepadeiras herbáceas e lenhosas foi positivamente correlacionada com a altitude e negativamente correlacionada com a distância do litoral e a temperatura; correlação negativa também foi observada entre a riqueza de trepadeiras herbáceas e a precipitação, enquanto para as lenhosas a riqueza se manteve constante nessa variável. A análise de similaridade florística resultou na formação de três grupos, sugerindo uma composição florística característica da matriz circundante, influenciada por fatores abióticos e tipos vegetacionais onde os afloramentos rochosos estão inseridos.

Resumo O banco de sementes no solo é um dos mecanismos de regeneração natural que contribui para o surgimento de espécies em áreas florestais ou degradadas, no entanto, a composição de espécies pode ser influenciada pelo histórico de uso da terra, pela matriz em que o fragmento está inserido, entre outros. O objetivo dessa pesquisa foi avaliar a composição florística, abundância e ecologia morfofuncional de plântulas de espécies arbóreas encontradas no banco de sementes no solo em fragmento de Floresta Tropical. Foram retiradas amostras de solos e levadas para o viveiro florestal e cobertas por tela sombrite 70%. As plântulas emergidas foram contadas, identificadas e classificadas quanto à síndrome de dispersão, grupo sucessional e ecologia morfofuncional dos cotilédones. Emergiram 3.441 plântulas, em 14 famílias e 28 morfoespécies. Predominaram Miconia prasina e Cecropia pachystachya com 22,20 e 17,78%, respectivamente; a síndrome zoocórica com 64%; houve predominância de espécies secundárias iniciais, seguida de pioneiras. 78% das plântulas são do tipo PEF (fanero-epígeo-foliáceo). Embora o remanescente esteja inserido em uma matriz agrícola possui uma média riqueza de espécies arbóreas no banco de sementes, sendo a maioria das espécies classificadas como fanero-epígeo-foliáceo, demonstrando a dinâmica e capacidade de autorregeneração da área estudada.

Dentre as pragas do arroz irrigado em Santa Catarina estão a bicheira-da-raiz, Oryzophagus oryzae (Costa Lima) e Helodytes sp. (ambas Coleoptera: Curculionidae), a lagarta-boiadeira, Nymphula spp. e a noiva-do-arroz, Rupela albinella Cramer (ambas Lepidoptera: Pyralidae), o percevejo-do-grão, Oebalus spp. (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) e o cascudo-preto, Euetheola humilis (Burmeister) (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae). A dispersão desses insetos no ambiente é ampla, porém se desconhece a capacidade dos mesmos transporem obstáculos verticais na rota de voo. Assim, foi objetivo desta pesquisa verificar a altura de voo dos insetos-pragas do arroz irrigado. Duas armadilhas luminosas, modelo “Luiz de Queiroz” foram instaladas em uma lavoura de arroz irrigado em Itajaí, SC, sendo uma delas ao nível superior das plantas e a outra a seis metros de altura do solo. No período de setembro de 2014 a dezembro de 2015, as armadilhas foram ligadas diariamente das 16:00 às 9:00h, exceto de maio a agosto de 2015, quando permaneceram desligadas. Todas as espécies citadas alcançaram a altura de voo de 6m e, portanto, são capazes de ultrapassar obstáculos até essa altura. Contudo, apenas O. oryzae e E. humilis voam habitualmente por esse estrato.

A distribuição espacial de adultos da bicheira da raiz, Oryzophagus oryzae (Costa Lima) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), foi averiguada em lavouras de arroz irrigado nos anos agrícolas 2007/08 e 2008/09 mediante a contagem de indivíduos em pares de linhas de caminhamento ortogonais previamente estabelecidas. Em cada linha foram demarcados pontos amostrais, em ida e volta, a partir das bordas das lavouras, a 1,5, 3, 6, 12, 24 e 30m. Em cada ponto, em intervalo semanal, foram coletados e contados os adultos em repouso nas folhas ou nadando na água, num raio de 0,6m a partir do ponto amostral. No ano agrícola 2007/08, após os 48 dias da semeadura, as larvas também foram contadas e no ano agrícola 2008/09 o estande de plantas foi aferido semanalmente nesses pontos. Os adultos da bicheira-da-raiz ocuparam toda a área cultivada, porém com maior concentração de indivíduos nas bordas das quadras. A distribuição de larvas refletiu a distribuição de adultos, ao passo que a perda de estande não seguiu o padrão de concentração dos adultos. De meados de outubro a meados de novembro, nas duas safras, ocorreu ampla distribuição de adultos da bicheira da raiz nas áreas das lavouras.

The neotropical stink bug Euschistus heros is the predominant and most important insect pest affecting soybean cultivation. Knowledge of the spatial pattern of the pest in an area is critical to understanding its behavior. The objective of this work was to study the spatial distribution of E. heros in transgenic soybean cultivars of different maturing cycles. The experiments were conducted in the seasons 2013/14 and 2014/15 in FCAV/UNESP, Jaboticabal, SP. Three fields were selected, and each was marked an area of 8.000 m2 (0.8 ha), with each area divided into 80 portions of 100 m2 (10 m x 10 m). The transgenic soybean cultivars of different maturing cycles were: SYN 1365 RR (early), M 7908 RR (average), and BRS Valiosa RR (late). Samples were taken weekly using a beat sheet, registering the number of nymphs and adults of E. heros. To study the dispersion of E. heros, the following indices were used: variance/mean ratio, Morisita index, Green coefficient, and the exponent k of the negative binomial distribution. For studies of special distribution models of E. heros, adjustments of Poisson distribution and negative binomial distribution were tested. The spatial distribution of nymphs and adults was aggregated for all the cultivars studied, indicating that cultivars did not alter the distribution behavior of E. heros.

This article presents the results of a teaching experiment aimed at verifying whether the work from variability contributes to the development of the notion of statistical distribution. For this, it is decided to run a teaching experiment in which a sequence of instruction is proposed so that the candidates for mathematics teachers achieve a broader idea of this concept. From the intuitive exploration of the data collections and the transit through several representation registers with the help of technology, it is found that the students notice and identify diverse aspects related to the variability that in turn are linked to the notion of distribution. The extraordinary diversity of Neotropical biotas needs explanation, and this overview purports to frame extrinsic factors involved in the diversification of Neotropical mammals. The immensity of this topic prompted a rather stark, conceptual approach. I first consider the various environmental and intrinsic factors involved in evolutionary divergence, then the prominent and influential roles of both dispersal and vicariance in biogeographic explanations, and then identify ecological opportunity as a potent but elusive underlying driver. I end the perspective with a series of questions focused on organisms and their landscapes that will likely engage me and other evolutionary biologists for the foreseeable future. A dispersão efetiva dos NTCs para preparação de compósitos de cimento é crucial para o alcance de ganhos de resistência. O comportamento hidrofóbico desse nanomaterial faz com que ele se aglomere em presença de água o que leva a formação de grânulos. Pesquisas envolvendo incorporação de NTCs em pastas de cimento têm sendo desenvolvidas, e o presente trabalho realizou experimentos de análise de dispersão em meio aquoso e preparação e caracterização de pastas de cimento com NTCs. Como resultado, foi observado que os NTCs se mostram dispersos em meio aquoso na presença de aditivos plastificantes a base de lignosulfonato e policarboxilato. No entanto, as pastas de cimento preparadas por esse método de dispersão não apresentaram ganhos de resistência significativos, sugerindo pouca eficiência de dispersão para esse fim.

After the establishment of the Portuguese Republic, the Dorothean Sisters , as other religious congregations, were forced into exile. However, the Portuguese Province wouldn't be extinguished. First, by the strong hand of Sister Alves, then leader, they took the message of Paula Frassinetti the several countries of Europe and to the United States, while also establishing themselves in Spain. Afterwards, requested for all the Dioceses, through the insistence of the respective Bishops, they would make their way back to Portugal. This work studied the spatial dispersion of cases of fatal yellowing (FY) in an oil palm plantation in Acará, Pará State, Brazil. Data were collected monthly from two areas, divided in 16 quadrants each, for a 24 month period (2012-2013). In each quadrant, 138 plants were evaluated. The number of diseased plants was counted in twenty planting lines, and the spatial pattern of the disease was analyzed. The following spatial analysis techniques were used: common sequences of “runs”, “doublets” and quadrants. We also determined the levels of disease aggregation in the sectors. Plants with FY had a spatial distribution aggregated in a lower line number when using the “run” analysis than when using the “doublets” method. Aggregation of FY cases was observed in 30% of the evaluated lines. The quadrant analysis confirmed the existence of case aggregation, with vertical and horizontal distribution. The existence of disease forming foci suggests that FY probably has biotic origin. Additional studies are required to confirm this hypothesis.

A ocorrência de urânio e fosfato na Jazida de Itataia lança naturalmente radionuclídeos no ambiente através da ação erosiva dos ventos e da chuva. A importância econômica desse minério e os impactos relativos a sua mineração geram polêmicas em relação ao custo ambiental da atividade. A erosão superficial e o transporte de material está diretamente relacionado a amplitude e declividade dos relevos e dos materiais e processos envolvidos, desse modo a hidrologia tem papel preponderante no estudo dos transportes de contaminantes radioativos. O reconhecimento das feições do terreno é importante para determinar a estabilidade dos ambientes e o uso de geotecnologias tem facilitado a aquisição e tratamento de informações espaciais, colaborado com as pesquisas em gestão e monitoramento de usos. Desse modo essa pesquisa pretende disponibilizar informações sobre as feições do relevo, da drenagem e a definição do perímetro da sub bacia do Riacho Cunha Moti, Ceará, Brasil. Para o processamento foram utilizadas imagens SRTM 1Arc obtidas através de download gratuito e o software ArcGis 10. Os resultados gerados em cartogramas possibilitaram o reconhecimento dos fatores hidrogeomorfológicos que mais atuam para a dispersão de material radioativo no entorno da jazida.

A invasão biológica pela espécie Pittosporum undulatum Vent. pode ocasionar degradação de ecossistemas nativos, perda de espécies e de serviços ecossistêmicos. Além das características biológicas que favorecem seu estabelecimento, seus frutos são fontes alimentares para algumas espécies de aves, que acabam por dispersar suas sementes. O presente estudo foi realizado no Parque Estadual Alberto Löfgren, e visou verificar as espécies de aves potencialmente dispersoras do pau-incenso, comparar os registros de alimentação obtidos para esta árvore e para outras seis espécies arbóreas locais e avaliar a influência da ingestão das sementes pelas aves na sua taxa de germinação. A coleta de dados consistiu em observações focais das aves em atividade de forrageio no pau-incenso e a captura de indivíduos com redes de neblina para coleta de sementes nas fezes. Testes de germinação foram realizados com as sementes coletadas das fezes e diretamente dos frutos maduros. No total, foram encontradas 107 sementes nas fezes de oito sabiás, pertencentes a três espécies: Turdus rufiventris, Turdus amaurochalinus e Turdus albicollis. Não encontramos diferenças significativas nas taxas de germinação entre os tratamentos. Apesar da passagem das sementes pelo trato digestório das aves não ter alterado significativamente as taxas de germinação, os sabiás podem ser importantes dispersores do pau-incenso, permitindo a colonização de novas áreas por esta espécie exótica e intensificando seu processo de invasão biológica na Mata Atlântica.Biological invasion by the species Pittosporum undulatum Vent. could bring degradation to native ecosystems and loss of biodiversity and ecological services. Besides the biological features favoring the establishment of the species in natural environments, some bird species use its fruits as food sources, being responsible for its seed dispersion. The present study was held at Alberto Löfgren State Park, São Paulo, Southeastern Brazil, and aimed to verify which bird species are P. undulatum potential dispersers; to compare feeding bouts to P. undulatum with another six arboreal species and to evaluate the influence of seed ingestion in germination rates. We sampled data using focal observation of foraging birds in P. undulatum and captured individuals with mist nets to collect seed from their faeces. In addition, we have made seed germination tests that included seeds collected from bird faeces and directly from mature fruits in trees. We found 107 seeds inside the faeces of eight thrushes, belonging to three species: Turdus rufiventris, Turdus amaurochalinus and Turdus albicollis. We did not find significant differences in germination rates between treatments. Although the passage through the birds’ digestive system did not change significantly germination rates, thrushes can be important dispersers of P. undulatum, allowing colonization of new areas and intensifying the biological invasion process in Atlantic Forest.

Abstract. Four bulb mites deutonymphs (hypopus) from Rhizoglyphus echinopus (Fumouze & Robin) (Acari: Acaridae) were found attached to the head of a subterranean termite belonging to Coptotermes genus in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. These mite species are commonly associated with ornamental plants and trees with bulbs, corms and tubers. All four hypopus were found attached to the surface of termite’s head. Results from this study provided an insight on the phoretic relationship of mites and termites, indicating the role of the latter in the dispersion of the first. Ácaros do Bulbo Rhizoglyphus echinopus (Fumouze and Robin) Associados com Cupim Subterrâneo (Isoptera) no Brasil Resumo. Quatro deutoninfas de ácaros do bulbo (hipopus) da espécie Rhizoglyphus echinopus (Fumouze & Robin) (Acari: Acaridae) foram encontradas fixadas na cabeça do cupim subterraneo pertencente ao gênero Coptotermes no Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. Estas espécies de ácaros estão comumente associadas a plantas ornamentais e plantas com bulbos e turbéculos. As quatros hipopus foram encontradas fixadas na superfície da cabeça do cupim. Os resultados desse estudo fornecem uma visão sobre a relação forética de ácaros e cupins, indicando o papel deste último na dispersão do primeiro.

O percevejo-marrom-da-soja Euschistus heros, destaca-se como o inseto-praga predominante e mais importante na cultura. O conhecimento do padrão espacial da praga na área é fundamental para o entendimento do seu comportamento. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi estudar a distribuição espacial de E. heros em cultivares de soja transgênica de diferentes ciclos de desenvolvimento. Os experimentos foram conduzidos nos anos agrícolas 2013/14 e 2014/15 na FCAV/UNESP, Jaboticabal, SP. Foram selecionados três campos, e em cada um foi demarcada uma área de 8.000 m2 (0,8 ha), sendo cada área subdividida em 80 parcelas de 100 m2 (10 m x 10 m). As cultivares de soja transgênica de diferentes ciclos de desenvolvimento utilizadas foram: SYN 1365 RR (precoce), M 7908 RR (média) e BRS Valiosa RR (tardia). As amostragens foram realizadas semanalmente usando pano de batida, registrando-se o número de ninfas e adultos. Para o estudo da dispersão de E. heros foram utilizados os seguintes índices: razão variância/média, índice de Morisita, coeficiente de Green e o expoente k da distribuição binomial negativa. Para os estudos dos modelos de distribuição espacial de E. heros foram testados os ajustes das distribuições de Poisson e distribuição binomial negativa. A distribuição espacial de ninfas e adultos foi agregada para todas as cultivares em estudo, ou seja, as cultivares não alteram o comportamento de distribuição de E. heros.

Abstract Estrogens are hormones responsible for growth and reproduction. They are naturally synthesized by animals and humans alike. Xenoestrogens are identical to natural hormones, but they are man-made and used as oral contraceptives. Xenoestrogens are a specific group of drugs found in domestic wastewater and some environmental matrices. These compounds remain after conventional sewage treatment and, consequently, affect both the environment and non-target aquatic organisms. In this study, we used the Delft3D hydrodynamic model to estimate the amount of both natural and synthetic estrogens that have been released in the Estuarine System of Santos and São Vicente and the Santos Bay. The data on flow from the sewage treatment plants and on average concentrations of natural and synthetic estrogens released in aquatic environments were obtained from the literature. The results of the modeling showed higher concentrations of estrogens in the estuarine waters of the Largo Pompeba region, the São Vicente Canal, and the Santos Bay, which are regions that receive greater inflows of domestic sewage. The results also suggest that higher concentrations of estrogenic compounds are expected to be found in areas with higher levels of salinity.

Tibraca limbativentris (rice stem bug) is an insect highly injurious to the rice crop in Brazil. The aim of this research was to define the spatial distribution of the T. limbativentris and improve the sampling process by means of geostatistical application techniques and construction of prediction maps in a flooded rice field located in the "Planalto da Campanha" Region, Rio Grande do Sul (RS), Brazil. The experiments were conducted in rice crop in the municipality of Itaqui - RS, in the crop years of 2009/10, 2010/11 and 2011/12, counting fortnightly the number of nymphs and adults in a georeferenced grid with points spaced at 50m in the first year and in 10m in the another years. It was performed a geostatistical analysis by means adjusting semivariogram and interpolation of numeric data by kriging to verify the spatial dependence and the subsequent mapping population. The results obtained indicated that the rice stem bug, T. limbativentris, has a strong spatial dependence. The prediction maps allow estimating population density of the pest and visualization of the spatial distribution in flooded rice fields, enabling the improvement of the traditional method of sampling for rice stem bug

The objective of this study was to compare interpolation methods of ordinary kriging and inverse distance weighted applied to the spatial distribution of Oebalus poecilus and Oebalus ypsinolgriseus population densities in irrigated rice. In two crops, it was generated a grid of 30 x 30 m sampling, termed Area 1 and Area 2 with 39 and 192 sampling units (1 m2, corresponding to 200 rice plants), respectively. Seven evaluations were carried out from sowing to harvesting. In these areas, O. poecilus and O. ypsilongriseus adults were quantified and the sum of each species was used for analysis. Values were submitted to the ordinary kriging interpolation and inverse distance weighted for different semivariogram models, in which the cross-validation technique was used for defining the best interpolator. The ordinary kriging interpolation method showed a better performance than the method of inverse distance weighted applied in the spatial distribution of population density of O. poecilus in rice cultivation. O. ypsilongriseus could not generate estimates for comparison. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar as condições ecogeográficas e edafoclimáticas dos ambientes de ocorrência da erva-baleeira (Varronia curassavica) nas mesorregiões Norte e Vale do Jequitinhonha de Minas Gerais. O estudo foi efetuado em 15 sítios de ocorrência dessa espécie, localizados em 14 municípios sob o bioma Cerrado e ocorreu nos tipos de vegetação Cerrado, Caatinga, restinga e floresta.
