In the 7th edition of PMBOK the Tailoring process is legitimized as an essential ally in project management, since it makes several adjustments throughout the project's life cycle to provide the best possible environment to achieve the deliverables and the value added to the organization. Tailoring as a principle further highlights the unique nature of each project and the need to carry out this process continuously. Based on a unique case study, the beginning of the management functions in a sector of a public organization is discussed, as well as the adaptations made to optimize the workflow and productivity in the deliverables. From this investigation results the proposal of a framework adapted to the needs of the institution, as a starting point for the professionalization of project management. info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion

The 7th edition of the PMBOK extols stakeholder involvement and acceptance of change as crucial management principles to ensure good project outcomes, as engaged people produce more and better, become more open and flexible to embrace the changes inherent in the project context. From a single case study, the initiation of project management functions in a public organization in the education sector is discussed. The value of this article lies in the connection between theory and practice, as it brings Anderson and Kotter's guidelines applied during an actual project, revealing the benefits and difficulties faced in leveraging and maintaining stakeholder engagement. As a result, it affirms the importance of context analysis to design and conduct changes in the environment where the project takes place, and of breaking the forces of inertia to foster experimentation and gradual improvements in the teams' work dynamics. info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion

CIES2020 - XVII Congresso Ibérico e XIII Congresso Ibero-americano de Energia Solar RESUMO: A BBRI é a única Infraestrutura Nacional de Investigação em Biomassa e Bioenergia, que integra o Roteiro Nacional de Infraestruturas de Investigação de Interesse Estratégico em Portugal desde 2014, sendo distribuída por dois nós. O nó de Lisboa tem por base as infraestruturas laboratoriais e piloto existentes na Unidade de Bioenergia e Biorrefinarias (UBB) do Laboratório Nacional de Energia e Geologia (LNEG) e o nó de Braga, as infraestruturas laboratoriais e tecnológicas do Centro de Engenharia Biológica (CEB) da Universidade do Minho (UM). As atividades científicas da BBRI estão focadas nas tecnologias de conversão de biomassa para obtenção de biocombustíveis avançados, produtos não-energéticos de base biológica e outros biomateriais, inseridas em seis sub-plataformas de investigação (sub-RIs). O trabalho da BBRI nestas 6 sub-RIs encontra-se complementarmente organizado em atividades de formação, serviços e atividades de disseminação, visando a capacitação de novos profissionais em bioenergia sustentável e contribuindo para a excelência da investigação em Portugal no domínio da Bioenergia e Bioeconomia. ABSTRACT: BBRI is the only National Infrastructure for Research in Biomass and Bioenergy, which is part of the National Roadmap of Research Infrastructures of Strategic Interest in Portugal since 2014, being distributed by two nodes. The Lisbon node is based on the laboratory and pilot infrastructures existing in the Bioenergy and Biorrefineries Unit of National Laboratory of Energy and Geology and the Braga node the laboratory and technological infrastructures of the Center of Biological Engineering of the University of Minho (UM). BBRI's scientific activities are focused on biomass conversion technologies to obtain advanced biofuels, bio-based non-energy products and other biomaterials, inserted in six research sub-platforms (sub-IRs). The Amazon Forest play an important rule to tropical climate of South America, particularly to the water vapor atmospheric recirculation and represent a potential strong carbon storage that if totally released, will contribute largely to the global warming. The entire region is over strong human pressure, through logging, forest conversion and others resources explorations. In this work, we present a way to study the amazon carbon fluxes using regular CO2 vertical atmospheric profiles with aircrafts with regional representability. By combining these measurements with the background measurements in Barbados and Ascension, the carbon flux for 20 % of the Amazon area can be estimated. There are two primary challenges in these CO2 measurements: precision and accuracy. The methodology developed to achieve both precision and accuracy is presented. The analyses of the differences in trend lines of the measurements bellow the Planetary Boundary Layer and the top of the profile show a change in the contribution over the study period, confirmed also by the analysis of the annual mean CO2 fluxes. The trend in the fluxes show a similar behavior to that observed in the trends of the land use change over the influenced area of SAN, mainly the conversion of forest to agriculture and livestock areas, highlighting the influence of human actions in the conversion of the East Amazon from a sink to a source of atmospheric CO2.

This doctoral thesis is an in-depth comparison of lay and religious sources produced in Siena (1260-1330) on the topics of criminal justice, conflict and violence. Two main trends have been highlighted in the development of criminal justice in late medieval Italy. Firstly, that the practice of revenge was still popular among members of all social classes. Secondly, that crime was increasingly perceived as a public matter that needed to be dealt with by the government, and not by private citizens. These two aspects are partly contradictory, and the extent to which these models reflect the reality of communal justice is still open to debate. This thesis aims to shed light on this question through the contribution of religious sources. Recent works have highlighted the need to associate the study of political and judicial practices of conflict to that of religious elaborations - something that scholars have started attempting only very recently. The argument underlying this research is that religious people were an effective pressure group with regards to criminal justice, thanks both to the literary works they produced and their direct intervention in political affairs, and their contributions have not received the attention they deserve. The thesis suggests that the dichotomy between theories and practices of ‘private justice’ (e.g. revenge) and of ‘public justice’ (trials) should be substituted by a framework in which three models, or discourses, of criminal justice are recognised as present in late medieval Italian communes: in addition to the trends described above, also a specifically religious approach to criminal justice based on penitential spirituality should be recognised as an influence on the policies of the communes. This case study shows that, although the models were competing, they also influenced each other; and none of them managed, in this period, to eliminate the others, but they coexisted.

Population explosions of the stable fly (Stomoxys calcitrans) have become a serious concern for livestock producers near sugarcane mills in some regions of Brazil due to the insect?s massive reproduction on sugarcane byproducts and waste. Despite the limited efficiency of insecticides for controlling stable fly outbreaks, producers still rely on chemical control to mitigate the alarming infestations in affected areas. This study evaluated the susceptibility of S. calcitrans populations to cypermethrin in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. Stable flies were tested from three field populations and two colonies, established from flies previously collected at sugarcane mills. Wild flies were collected with Nzi traps in areas of sugarcane plantations. Both wild and colonized flies were exposed to eleven concentrations of cypermethrin in impregnated filter paper bioassays. All the populations proved to be resistant to cypermethrin, with resistance factors among field populations ranging from 6.8 to 38.6. The intensive use of insecticides has led to the development of pyrethroid resistance in stable fly populations in the proximities of sugarcane mills in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. This paper was written with the intention of reviewing literature on the subject of information systems costing revealing existing gaps. More precisely, it summarizes content found on this subject. Costing reduction has been under focus by organizations, especially after the global crisis in the last decade. To reduce costs it is crucial to perform an accurate measurement. As investment in IT has grown over the years, so have IT costs. However, literature does not seem to show these growing worries. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi comparar a eficiência relativa quanto a estimativa das variáveis diâmetro médio a 1,30 m do solo ( ), número de árvores, área basal e volume com casca por hectare, de duas configurações do método de amostragem de área fixa em parcelas de 2000 m². A primeira com dimensões de 20m x 100m não estratificada e outra com dimensões de 10m x 200m estratificada. Ambas instaladas em uma área de Floresta Ombrófila Densa de Terra Firme não explorada localizada na Floresta Nacional de Tapajós, estado do Pará. Utilizou-se o delineamento inteiramente casualizado com quatro repetições para comparação das configurações de parcela. Foram sorteadas quatro unidades amostrais nas quais foram medidos os DAPs de todos os indivíduos acima de 10 cm, bem como cronometrado o tempo desde a alocação das parcelas até o fim das mensurações. Os resultados obtidos com base na eficiência relativa mostraram que o melhor método para estimativa das variáveis estudadas foi o da parcela sem estratificação. Entretanto, não houve diferença estatística significativa entre as estimativas das duas configurações, assim, devido ao menor tempo consumido na medição e alocação das parcelas, pode-se concluir que a configuração com estratificação apresentou o melhor custo-benefício. The food industry is the major manufacturing sector in Portugal. In particular, the fruit and vegetable sector with a wide range of products such as vegetable crops, vegetables, fruits, potatoes, and crops for industry. Most of these products are produced seasonally and have a very limited lifespan of marketing time as they are perishable. The aim of this study is to characterize the fruit and vegetable industries and indicate solutions that promote their energy efficiency. To this end, we analyzed a sample consisting of 23 units located in central region of Portugal. Data collection was conducted via survey and on-site measurements to obtain information about the facilities, the production process, quantities of raw materials, characteristics of cooling systems, and energy consumption. The potential energy saving was estimated at 18.9% for the sales units to traders and 17.2% for the fruit centrals.
