In this paper, we present the first comprehensive CMB data analysis of cosmological collider physics. New heavy particles during inflation can leave imprints in the primordial correlators which are observable in today's cosmological surveys. This remarkable detection channel provides an unsurpassed opportunity to probe new physics at extremely high energies. Here we initiate the search for these relic signals in the cosmic microwave background (CMB) data from the Planck legacy release. On the theory side, guided by recent progress from the cosmological bootstrap, we first propose a family of analytic bispectrum templates that incorporate the distinctive signatures of cosmological collider physics. Our consideration includes the oscillatory signals in the squeezed limit, the angular dependence from spinning fields, and several new shapes from nontrivial sound speed effects. On the observational side, we apply the recently developed pipeline, CMB Bispectrum Estimator (CMB-BEST), to efficiently analyze the three-point statistics and search directly for these new templates in the Planck 2018 temperature and polarization data. We report stringent CMB constraints on these new templates. Furthermore, we perform parameter scans to search for the best-fit values with maximum significance. For a benchmark example of collider templates, we find $f_{NL}=-91\pm40$ at the $68\%$ confidence level. After accounting for the look-elsewhere effect, the biggest adjusted significance we get is $1.8\sigma$. In general, we find no significant evidence of cosmological collider signals in the Planck data. In this paper, we revisit the infrared (IR) divergences in de Sitter (dS) space using the wavefunction method, and explicitly explore how the resummation of higher-order loops leads to the stochastic formalism. In light of recent developments of the cosmological bootstrap, we track the behaviour of these nontrivial IR effects from perturbation theory to the non-perturbative regime. Specifically, we first examine the perturbative computation of wavefunction coefficients, and show that there is a clear distinction between classical components from tree-level diagrams and quantum ones from loop processes. Cosmological correlators at loop level receive contributions from tree-level wavefunction coefficients, which we dub classical loops. This distinction significantly simplifies the analysis of loop-level IR divergences, as we find the leading contributions always come from these classical loops. Then we compare with correlators from the perturbative stochastic computation, and find the results there are essentially the ones from classical loops, while quantum loops are only present as subleading corrections. This demonstrates that the leading IR effects are contained in the semi-classical wavefunction which is a resummation of all the tree-level diagrams. With this insight, we go beyond perturbation theory and present a new derivation of the stochastic formalism using the saddle-point approximation. We show that the Fokker-Planck equation follows as a consequence of two effects: the drift from the Schr\"odinger equation that describes the bulk time evolution, and the diffusion from the Polchinski's equation which corresponds to the exact renormalization group flow of the coarse-grained theory on the boundary. In the field of affective computing, researchers in the community have promoted the performance of models and algorithms by using the complementarity of multimodal information. However, the emergence of more and more modal information makes the development of datasets unable to keep up with the progress of existing modal sensing equipment. Collecting and studying multimodal data is a complex and significant work. In order to supplement the challenge of partial missing of community data. We collected and labeled a new homogeneous multimodal gesture emotion recognition dataset based on the analysis of the existing data sets. This data set complements the defects of homogeneous multimodal data and provides a new research direction for emotion recognition. Moreover, we propose a pseudo dual-flow network based on this dataset, and verify the application potential of this dataset in the affective computing community. The experimental results demonstrate that it is feasible to use the traditional visual information and spiking visual information based on homogeneous multimodal data for visual emotion recognition.The dataset is available at \url{https://github.com/201528014227051/SGED}

Primordial non-Gaussianities from multi-field inflation are a leading target for cosmological observations, because of the possible large correlations generated between long and short distances. These signatures are captured by the local shape of the scalar bispectrum. In this paper, we revisit the nonlinearities of the conversion process from additional light scalars into curvature perturbations during inflation. We provide analytic templates for correlation functions valid at any kinematical configuration, using the cosmological bootstrap as a main computational tool. Our results include the possibility of large breaking of boost symmetry, in the form of small speeds of sound for both the inflaton and the mediators. We consider correlators coming from the tree-level exchange of a massless scalar field. By introducing a late-time cutoff, we identify that the symmetry constraints on the correlators are modified. This leads to anomalous conformal Ward identities, and consequently the bootstrap differential equations acquire a source term that depends on this cutoff. The solutions to the differential equations are scalar seed functions that incorporate these late-time growth effects. Applying weight-shifting operators to auxiliary "seed" functions, we obtain a systematic classification of shapes of non-Gaussianity coming from massless exchange. For theories with de Sitter symmetry, we compare the resulting shapes with the ones obtained via the $\delta N$ formalism, identifying missing contributions away from the squeezed limit. For boost-breaking scenarios, we derive a novel class of shape functions with phenomenologically distinct features. Specifically, the new shape provides a simple extension of equilateral non-Gaussianity: the signal peaks at a geometric configuration controlled by the ratio of the sound speeds of the mediator and the inflaton., Comment: 65 pages, 8 figures

For primordial perturbations, deviations from Gaussian statistics on the tail of the probability distribution can be associated with non-perturbative effects of inflation. In this paper, we present some particular examples in which the tail of the distribution becomes highly non-Gaussian although the statistics remains almost Gaussian in the perturbative regime. We begin with an extension of the ultra-slow-roll inflation that incorporates a transition process, where the inflaton climbs up a tiny potential step at the end of the non-attractor stage before it converges to the slow-roll attractor. Through this example, we identify the key role of the off-attractor behaviour for the upward-step transition, and then extend the analysis to another type of the transition with two slow-roll stages connected by a tiny step. We perform both the perturbative and non-perturbative analyses of primordial fluctuations generated around the step in detail, and show that the tiny but nontrivial transition may affect large perturbations in the tail of the distribution, while the perturbative non-Gaussianity remains small. Our result indicates that the non-Gaussian tails can have rich phenomenology which has been overlooked in conventional analyses. We also study the implications of this non-Gaussian tail for the formation of primordial black holes, and find that their mass fraction can be parametrically amplified by several orders of magnitudes in comparison with the case of the Gaussian distribution. Cosmological correlation functions contain valuable information about the primordial Universe, with possible signatures of new massive particles at very high energies. Recent developments, including the cosmological bootstrap, bring new perspectives and powerful tools to study these observables. In this paper, we systematically classify inflationary three-point correlators of scalar perturbations using the bootstrap method. For the first time, we derive a complete set of single-exchange cosmological collider bispectra with new shapes and potentially detectable signals. Specifically, we focus on the primordial scalar bispectra generated from the exchange of massive particles with all possible boost-breaking interactions during inflation. We introduce three-point "seed" functions, from which we bootstrap the inflationary bispectra of scalar and spinning exchanges using weight-shifting and spin-raising operators. The computation of the seed function requires solving an ordinary differential equation in comoving momenta, a boundary version of the equation of motion satisfied by a propagator that linearly mixes a massive particle with the external light scalars. The resulting correlators are presented in analytic form, for any kinematics. These shapes are of interest for near-future cosmological surveys, as the primordial non-Gaussianity in boost-breaking theories can be large. We also identify new features in these shapes, which are phenomenologically distinct from the de Sitter invariant cases. For example, the oscillatory shapes around the squeezed limit have different phases. We report a novel prediction from single-field inflation that even a tiny step in the inflaton potential can change our perception of primordial non-Gaussianities of the curvature perturbation. Our analysis focuses on the tail of probability distribution generated by an upward step transition between two stages of slow-roll evolution. The nontrivial background dynamics with off-attractor behavior is identified. By using a non-perturbative $\delta N$ analysis, we explicitly show that a highly non-Gaussian tail can be generated by a tiny upward step, even when the conventional nonlinearity parameters $f_{NL}$, $g_{NL}$, etc. remain small. With this example, we demonstrate for the first time the sensitive dependence of non-perturbative effects on the tail of probability distribution. Our understanding of quantum correlators in cosmological spacetimes, including those that we can observe in cosmological surveys, has improved qualitatively in the past few years. Now we know many constraints that these objects must satisfy as consequences of general physical principles, such as symmetries, unitarity and locality. Using this new understanding, we derive the most general scalar four-point correlator, i.e., the trispectrum, to all orders in derivatives for manifestly local contact interactions. To obtain this result we use techniques from commutative algebra to write down all possible scalar four-particle amplitudes without assuming invariance under Lorentz boosts. We then input these amplitudes into a contact reconstruction formula that generates a contact cosmological correlator in de Sitter spacetime from a contact scalar or graviton amplitude. We also show how the same procedure can be used to derive higher-point contact cosmological correlators. Our results further extend the reach of the boostless cosmological bootstrap and build a new connection between flat and curved spacetime physics., Comment: 31 pages

We analyze and compare the multi-field dynamics during inflation and preheating in symmetric and asymmetric models of $\alpha$-attractors, characterized by a hyperbolic field-space manifold. We show that the generalized (asymmetric) E- and (symmetric) T-models exhibit identical two-field dynamics during inflation for a wide range of initial conditions. The resulting motion can be decomposed in two approximately single-field segments connected by a sharp turn in field-space. The details of preheating can nevertheless be different. For the T-model one main mass-scale dominates the evolution of fluctuations of the spectator field, whereas for the E-model, a competing mass-scale emerges due to the steepness of the potential away from the inflationary plateau, leading to different contributions to parametric resonance for small and large wave-numbers. Our linear multi-field analysis of fluctuations indicates that for highly curved manifolds, both the E- and T-models preheat almost instantaneously. For massless fields this is always due to efficient tachyonic amplification of the spectator field, making single-field results inaccurate. Interestingly, there is a parameter window corresponding to $r={\cal O}(10^{-5})$ and massive fields, where the preheating behavior is qualitatively and quantitatively different for symmetric and asymmetric potentials. In that case, the E-model can completely preheat due to self-resonance for values of the curvature where preheating in the T-model is inefficient. This provides a first distinguishing feature between models that otherwise behave identically, both at the single-field and multi-field level. Finally, we discuss how one can describe multi-field preheating on a hyperbolic manifold by identifying the relevant mass-scales that control the growth of inflaton and spectator fluctuations, which can be applied to any $\alpha$-attractor model and beyond.

Massive fields during inflation provide an interesting opportunity to test new physics at very high energy scales. Meanwhile in fundamental realizations, the inflationary field space typically has a curved geometry, which may leave detectable imprints in primordial observables. In this paper we study an extension of quasi-single field inflation where the inflaton and the massive field belong to a curved field manifold. Because of the nontrivial field space curvature, the massive field here can get significant mass corrections of order the Hubble scale, thus the quasi-single field predictions on primordial non-Gaussianity are affected. We derive the same result in an equivalent approach by using the background effective field theory of inflation, where a dimension-6 operator is identified to play an important role and its cutoff scale is associated with the curvature scale of the field space. In addition, due to the slow-roll evolution of the inflaton, this type of mass correction has intrinsic time-dependence. Consequently, the running mass modifies the scaling behaviour in the squeezed limit of the scalar bispectrum, while the resulting running index measures the curvature of the internal field space. Therefore the minimal setup of a massive field within curved field space during inflation may naturally lead to new observational signatures of the field space geometry., Comment: 23 pages, 5 figures; v2: published version with minor revisions and references added

We apply the four dimensional variational method to reconstruct the small scales of three-dimensional turbulent velocity fields with a moderate Reynolds number, given a time sequence of measurement data on a coarse set of grid points. The results show that, reconstruction is successful when the resolution of the measurement data, given in terms of the wavenumber, is at the order of the threshold value $k_c = 0.2\eta_K^{-1}$ where $\eta_K$ is the Kolmogorov length scale of the flow. When the data are available over a period of one large eddy turn-over time scale, the filtered enstrophy and other small scale quantities are reconstructed with a $30\%$ or smaller normalized point-wise error, and a $90\%$ point-wise correlation. The spectral correlation between the reconstructed and target fields is higher than $80\%$ for all wavenumbers. Minimum volume enclosing ellipsoids (MVEEs) and MVEE trees are introduced to quantitatively compare the geometry of non-local structures. Results show that, for the majority samples, errors in the locations and the sizes of the reconstructed structures are within $15\%$, and those in the orientations is within $15^\circ$. This investigation demonstrates that satisfactory reconstruction of the scales two or more octaves smaller is possible if data at large scales are available for at least one large eddy turn-over time. In comparison, a direct substitution scheme results in three times bigger point-wise discrepancy in enstrophy.
