We present ultraviolet, optical and near-infrared photometric and optical spectroscopic observations of the luminous, fast blue optical transient (LFBOT), CSS161010:045834-081803 (CSS161010). The transient was found in a low-redshift (z=0.033) dwarf galaxy. The light curves of CSS161010 are characterized by an extremely fast evolution and blue colours. The V-band light curve shows that CSS161010 reaches an absolute peak of M$_{V}^{max}=-20.66\pm0.06$ mag in 3.8 days from the start of the outburst. After maximum, CSS161010 follows a power-law decline $\propto t^{-2.8\pm0.1}$ at all optical bands. These photometric properties are comparable to those of well-observed LFBOTs such as AT 2018cow, AT 2020mrf and AT 2020xnd. However, unlike these objects, the spectra of CSS161010 show a remarkable transformation from a blue and featureless continuum to spectra dominated by very broad, entirely blueshifted hydrogen emission lines of velocities of up to 10% of the speed of light. The persistent blueshifted emission and the lack of any emission at the rest wavelength of CSS161010 are unique features not seen in any transient before CSS161010. The combined observational properties of CSS161010 and its dwarf galaxy host favour the tidal disruption of a star by an intermediate-mass black hole as its origin., Comment: 29 pages (including the appendix); 8 figures in the main text, 4 figures and 8 tables in the appendix. Roman microlensing stands at a crossroads between its originally charted path of cataloging a population of cool planets that has subsequently become well-measured down to super-Earths, and the path of free-floating planets (FFPs), which did not exist when Roman was chosen in 2010, but by now promises revolutionary insights into planet formation and evolution via their possible connection to a spectrum of objects spanning 18 decades in mass. Until now, it was not even realized that the 2 paths are in conflict: Roman strategy was optimized for bound-planet detections, and FFPs were considered only in the context of what could be learned about them given this strategy. We derive a simple equation that mathematically expresses this conflict and explains why the current approach severely depresses detection of 2 of the 5 decades of potential FFP masses, i.e., exactly the two decades, $M_{\rm Pluto}< M <2\,M_{\rm Mars}$, that would tie terrestrial planets to the proto-planetary material out of which they formed. FFPs can be either truly free floating or can be bound in "Wide", "Kuiper", and "Oort" orbits, whose separate identification will allow further insight into planet formation. In the (low-mass) limit that the source radius is much bigger than the Einstein radius, $\theta_*\gg\theta_{\rm E}$, the number of significantly magnified points on the FFP light curve is $N=2\Gamma\theta_*\sqrt{1-z^2}/\mu$ --> 3.0, when normalized to the adopted Roman cadence $\Gamma=4/$hr, and to source radius $\theta_*=0.3\,\mu$as, lens-source proper motion $\mu=6\,$mas/yr, and source impact parameter $z=0.5$, which are all typical values. By contrast $N=6$ are needed for an FFP detection. Thus, unless $\Gamma$ is doubled, FFP detection will be driven into the (large-$\theta_*$, small-$\mu$) corner of parameter space, reducing the detections by a net factor of 2 and cutting off the lowest-mass FFPs., Comment: 46 pages, 4 figures

Utilizing high-cadence and continuous g- and r-band data over three nights acquired from the 3.6-meter Canada France Hawaii Telescope (CFHT) aimed to find short-duration microlensing events, we conduct a systematic search for variables, transients, and asteroids across a $\sim1^\circ$ field of view of the Andromeda Galaxy (M 31). We present a catalog of 5859 variable stars, yielding the most extensive compilation of short-period variable sources of M 31. We also detected 19 flares, predominantly associated with foreground M dwarfs in the Milky Way. In addition, we discovered 17 previously unknown asteroid candidates, and we subsequently reported them to the Minor Planet Center. Lastly, we report a microlensing event candidate C-ML-1 and present a preliminary analysis.

The current studies of microlensing planets are limited by small number statistics. Follow-up observations of high-magnification microlensing events can efficiently form a statistical planetary sample. Since 2020, the Korea Microlensing Telescope Network (KMTNet) and the Las Cumbres Observatory (LCO) global network have been conducting a follow-up program for high-magnification KMTNet events. Here, we report the detection and analysis of a microlensing planetary event, KMT-2023-BLG-1431, for which the subtle (0.05 magnitude) and short-lived (5 hours) planetary signature was characterized by the follow-up from KMTNet and LCO. A binary-lens single-source (2L1S) analysis reveals a planet/host mass ratio of $q = (0.72 \pm 0.07) \times 10^{-4}$, and the single-lens binary-source (1L2S) model is excluded by $\Delta\chi^2 = 80$. A Bayesian analysis using a Galactic model yields estimates of the host star mass of $M_{\rm host} = 0.57^{+0.33}_{-0.29}~M_\odot$, the planetary mass of $M_{\rm planet} = 13.5_{-6.8}^{+8.1}~M_{\oplus}$, and the lens distance of $D_{\rm L} = 6.9_{-1.7}^{+0.8}$ kpc. The projected planet-host separation of $a_\perp = 2.3_{-0.5}^{+0.5}$ au or $a_\perp = 3.2_{-0.8}^{+0.7}$, subject to the close/wide degeneracy. The unexpected discovery of hot Jupiters challenged the classical theory of planet formation inspired by our solar system. Until now, the origin and evolution of hot Jupiters are still uncertain. Determining their age distribution and temporal evolution can provide more clues into the mechanism of their formation and subsequent evolution. Using a sample of 383 giant planets around Sun-like stars collected from the kinematic catalogs of the Planets Across Space and Time (PAST) project, we find that hot Jupiters are preferentially hosted by relatively younger stars in the Galactic thin disk. We subsequently find that the frequency of hot Jupiters declines with age. In contrast, the frequency of warm/cold Jupiters shows no significant dependence on age. Such a trend is expected from the tidal evolution of hot Jupiters' orbits, and our result offers supporting evidence using a large sample. We also perform a joint analysis on the planet frequencies in the stellar age-metallicity plane. The result suggests that the frequencies of hot Jupiters and warm/cold Jupiters, after removing the age dependence are both correlated with stellar metallicities. One of the fundamental questions in astronomy is how planetary systems form and evolve. Measuring the planetary occurrence and architecture as a function of time directly addresses this question. In the fourth paper of the Planets Across Space and Time (PAST) series, we investigate the occurrence and architecture of Kepler planetary systems as a function of kinematic age by using the LAMOST-Gaia-Kepler sample. To isolate the age effect, other stellar properties (e.g., metallicity) have been controlled. We find the following results. (1) The fraction of stars with Kepler-like planets ($F_{\text{Kep}}$) is about 50% for all stars; no significant trend is found between $F_{\text{Kep}}$ and age. (2) The average planet multiplicity ($\bar{N}_p$) exhibits a decreasing trend (~2$\sigma$ significance) with age. It decreases from $\bar{N}_p$~3 for stars younger than 1 Gyr to $\bar{N}_p$~1.8 for stars about 8 Gyr. (3) The number of planets per star ($\eta=F_{\text{Kep}}\times\bar{N}_p$) also shows a decreasing trend (~2-3$\sigma$ significance). It decreases from $\eta$~1.6-1.7 for young stars to $\eta$~1.0 for old stars. (4) The mutual orbital inclination of the planets ($\sigma_{i,k}$) increases from $1.2^{+1.4}_{-0.5}$ to $3.5^{+8.1}_{-2.3}$ as stars aging from 0.5 to 8 Gyr with a best fit of $\log{\sigma_{i,k}}=0.2+0.4\times\log{\frac{\text{Age}}{\text{1Gyr}}}$. Interestingly, the Solar System also fits such a trend. The nearly independence of $F_{\text{Kep}}$~50% on age implies that planet formation is robust and stable across the Galaxy history. We report discovering an exoplanet from following up a microlensing event alerted by Gaia. The event Gaia22dkv is toward a disk source rather than the traditional bulge microlensing fields. Our primary analysis yields a Jovian planet with M_p = 0.59^{+0.15}_{-0.05} M_J at a projected orbital separation r_perp = 1.4^{+0.8}_{-0.3} AU, and the host is a ~1.1 M_sun turnoff star at ~1.3 kpc. At r'~14, the host is far brighter than any previously discovered microlensing planet host, opening up the opportunity of testing the microlensing model with radial velocity (RV) observations. RV data can be used to measure the planet's orbital period and eccentricity, and they also enable searching for inner planets of the microlensing cold Jupiter, as expected from the ''inner-outer correlation'' inferred from Kepler and RV discoveries. Furthermore, we show that Gaia astrometric microlensing will not only allow precise measurements of its angular Einstein radius theta_E, but also directly measure the microlens parallax vector and unambiguously break a geometric light-curve degeneracy, leading to definitive characterization of the lens system., Comment: Accepted by AJ

M71E is a spider pulsar (i.e., a millisecond pulsar with a tight binary companion) with the shortest known orbital period of P=53.3 min discovered by Pan et al. (2023). Their favored evolutionary model suggests that it bridges between two types of spider pulsars, namely, it descended from a "redback" and will become a "black widow". Using Hubble Space Telescope (HST) archival imaging data, we report the first optical identification of its companion COM-M71E. The HST and pulsar timing coordinates are in excellent agreement (within ~10 mas). If M71E is associated with the globular cluster M71, our measured brightness of COM-M71E (m_F606W ~ 25.3) is broadly consistent with the expectation from Pan et al. (2023)'s preferred binary evolutionary model of a stripped dwarf companion, while it is also compatible with an ultra-low-mass degenerate companion. The analysis of core-collapse supernova (CCSN) environments can provide important information on the life cycle of massive stars and constrain the progenitor properties of these powerful explosions. The MUSE instrument at the VLT enables detailed local environment constraints of the progenitors of large samples of CCSNe. Using a homogeneous SN sample from the ASAS-SN survey has enabled us to perform a minimally biased statistical analysis of CCSN environments. We analyze 111 galaxies observed by MUSE that hosted 112 CCSNe detected or discovered by the ASAS-SN survey between 2014 and 2018. The majority of the galaxies were observed by the the AMUSING survey. Here we analyze the immediate environment around the SN locations and compare the properties between the different CCSN types and their light curves. We used stellar population synthesis and spectral fitting techniques to derive physical parameters for all HII regions detected within each galaxy, including the star formation rate (SFR), H$\alpha$ equivalent width (EW), oxygen abundance, and extinction. We found that stripped-envelope (SE) SNe occur in environments with a higher median SFR, H$\alpha$ EW, and oxygen abundances than SNe II and SNe IIn/Ibn. The distributions of SNe II and IIn are very similar, indicating that these events explode in similar environments. For the SESNe, SNe Ic have higher median SFRs, H$\alpha$ EWs, and oxygen abundances than SNe Ib. SNe IIb have environments with similar SFRs and H$\alpha$ EWs to SNe Ib, and similar oxygen abundances to SNe Ic. We also show that the postmaximum decline rate, $s$, of SNe II correlates with the H$\alpha$ EW, and that the luminosity and the $\Delta m_{15}$ parameter of SESNe correlate with the oxygen abundance, H$\alpha$ EW, and SFR at their environments. Type IIn supernovae occur when stellar explosions are surrounded by dense hydrogen-rich circumstellar matter. The dense circumstellar matter is likely formed by extreme mass loss from their progenitors shortly before they explode. The nature of Type IIn supernova progenitors and the mass-loss mechanism forming the dense circumstellar matter are still unknown. In this work, we investigate if there are any correlations between Type IIn supernova properties and their local environments. We use Type IIn supernovae with well-observed light-curves and host-galaxy integral field spectroscopic data so that we can estimate both supernova and environmental properties. We find that Type IIn supernovae with a higher peak luminosity tend to occur in environments with lower metallicity and/or younger stellar populations. The circumstellar matter density around Type IIn supernovae is not significantly correlated with metallicity, so the mass-loss mechanism forming the dense circumstellar matter around Type IIn supernovae might be insensitive to metallicity., Comment: 15 pages, 8 pages, 4 tables, accepted by Astronomy & Astrophysics

When discovered, SN~2017egm was the closest (redshift $z=0.03$) hydrogen-poor superluminous supernova (SLSN-I) and a rare case that exploded in a massive and metal-rich galaxy. Thus, it has since been extensively observed and studied. We report spectroscopic data showing strong emission at around He~I $\lambda$10,830 and four He~I absorption lines in the optical. Consequently, we classify SN~2017egm as a member of an emerging population of helium-rich SLSNe-I (i.e., SLSNe-Ib). We also present our late-time photometric observations. By combining them with archival data, we analyze high-cadence ultra-violet, optical, and near-infrared light curves spanning from early pre-peak ($\sim -20\,d$) to late phases ($\sim +300\,d$). We obtain its most complete bolometric light curve, in which multiple bumps are identified. None of the previously proposed models can satisfactorily explain all main light-curve features, while multiple interactions between the ejecta and circumstellar material (CSM) may explain the undulating features. The prominent infrared excess with a blackbody luminosity of $10^7$--$10^8\,L_{sun}$ detected in SN~2017egm could originate from the emission of either an echo of a pre-existing dust shell, or newly-formed dust, offering an additional piece of evidence supporting the ejecta-CSM interaction model. Moreover, our analysis of deep $Chandra$ observations yields the tightest-ever constraint on the X-ray emission of an SLSN-I, amounting to an X-ray-to-optical luminosity ratio $\lesssim 10^{-3}$ at late phases ($\sim100-200\,d$), which could help explore its close environment and central engine., Comment: 25 pages, 14 Figures, 4 Tables; accepted for publication in ApJ (Mar. 2023)

We present the observations and analysis of a high-magnification microlensing planetary event, KMT-2022-BLG-0440, for which the weak and short-lived planetary signal was covered by both the KMTNet survey and follow-up observations. The binary-lens models with a central caustic provide the best fits, with a planet/host mass ratio, $q = 0.75$--$1.00 \times 10^{-4}$ at $1\sigma$. The binary-lens models with a resonant caustic and a brown-dwarf mass ratio are both excluded by $\Delta\chi^2 > 70$. The binary-source model can fit the anomaly well but is rejected by the ``color argument'' on the second source. From Bayesian analyses, it is estimated that the host star is likely a K or M dwarf located in the Galactic disk, the planet probably has a Neptune-mass, and the projected planet-host separation is $1.9^{+0.6}_{-0.7}$ or $4.6^{+1.4}_{-1.7}$ au, subject to the close/wide degeneracy. This is the third $q < 10^{-4}$ planet from a high-magnification planetary signal ($A \gtrsim 65$). Together with another such planet, KMT-2021-BLG-0171Lb, the ongoing follow-up program for the KMTNet high-magnification events has demonstrated its ability in detecting high-magnification planetary signals for $q < 10^{-4}$ planets, which are challenging for the current microlensing surveys., Comment: MNRAS accepted

We catalog the 443 bright supernovae discovered by the All-Sky Automated Survey for Supernovae (ASAS-SN) in $2018-2020$ along with the 519 supernovae recovered by ASAS-SN and 516 additional $m_{peak}\leq18$ mag supernovae missed by ASAS-SN. Our statistical analysis focuses primarily on the 984 supernovae discovered or recovered in ASAS-SN $g$-band observations. The complete sample of 2427 ASAS-SN supernovae includes earlier $V$-band samples and unrecovered supernovae. For each supernova, we identify the host galaxy, its UV to mid-IR photometry, and the offset of the supernova from the center of the host. Updated light curves, redshifts, classifications, and host galaxy identifications supersede earlier results. With the increase of the limiting magnitude to $g\leq18$ mag, the ASAS-SN sample is roughly complete up to $m_{peak}=16.7$ mag and is $90\%$ complete for $m_{peak}\leq17.0$ mag. This is an increase from the $V$-band sample where it was roughly complete up to $m_{peak}=16.2$ mag and $70\%$ complete for $m_{peak}\leq17.0$ mag., Comment: 14 pages, 7 figures, 4 tables. We present the analysis of existing optical photometry and new optical spectroscopy of the candidate cataclysmic variable star OGLE-BLG504.12.201843. As was shown previously, this object has an orbital period of 0.523419 days and exhibits year-long outbursts with a mean period of 973 days. Using digitized photographic archives, we show that the earliest recorded outburst occurred in 1910. We propose that this object is a U Gem-type dwarf nova with extreme properties. The orbital variability of the system in outburst shows clear signs of an accretion disc, from which the outburst likely originates. During quiescence, the object slowly brightens by up to $0.75$ mag in the $I$ band over 600 days before the outburst and exhibits small flares with amplitude $\lesssim 0.2$ mag in the $I$ band. We interpret the gradual brightening as an increase in the luminosity and temperature of the accretion disc, which is theoretically predicted but only rarely seen in DNe. The origin of small flares remains unexplained. The spectra shows Balmer absorption lines both in quiescence and outburst, which can be associated with a bright secondary star or a cold accretion disc. During outbursts, emission lines with FWHM of about 450 km s$^{-1}$ appear, but they lack typical double-peaked profiles. We suggest that either these lines originate in the disc winds or the orbital inclination is low, the latter being consistent with constrains obtained from the orbital variability of the system. The recently published Gaia DR3 catalog of 181327 spectroscopic binaries (SB) includes the Keplerian elements of each orbit but not the measured radial velocities (RVs) and their epochs. Instead, the catalog lists a few parameters that characterize the robustness of each solution. In this work, we use two external sources to validate the orbits - 17563 LAMOST DR6 and 6018 GALAH DR3 stars with measured RVs that have Gaia-SB orbits. We compare the expected RVs, based on the Gaia orbits, with the LAMOST and GALAH measurements. Finding some orbits that are inconsistent with these measurements, we constructed a function that estimates the probability of each of the Gaia orbits to be correct, using the published robust parameters. We devise a clean but still very large Gaia SB1 sample of 91740 orbits. The sample differs from the parent sample by the absence of - physically unlikely and hence presumably spurious - short-period binaries with high eccentricity. The clean SB1 sample offers the prospect of thorough statistical studies of the binary population after carefully modeling of the remaining selection effects. At a first look, two possible features emerge from the clean sample - a paucity of short-period binaries with low-mass primaries, which might be a result of some observational bias, and a sub-sample of main-sequence binaries on circular orbits, probable evidence for circularization processes., Comment: 16 pages, 16 figures, accepted for publication in MNRAS

We have identified 2XMM J125556.57+565846.4, at a distance of 600 pc, as a binary system consisting of a normal star and a probable dormant neutron star. Optical spectra exhibit a slightly evolved F-type single star, displaying periodic Doppler shifts with a 2.76-day Keplerian circular orbit, with no indication of light from a secondary component. Optical and UV photometry reveal ellipsoidal variations with half the orbital period, due to the tidal deformation of the F star. The mass of the unseen companion is constrained to the range $1.1$--$2.1\,M_{\odot}$ at $3\sigma$ confidence, with the median of the mass distribution at $1.4\,M_{\odot}$, the typical mass of known neutron stars. A main-sequence star cannot masquerade as the dark companion. The distribution of possible companion masses still allows for the possibility of a very massive white dwarf. The companion itself could also be a close pair consisting of a white dwarf and an M star, or two white dwarfs, although the binary evolution that would lead to such a close triple system is unlikely. Similar ambiguities regarding the certain identification of a dormant neutron star are bound to affect most future discoveries of this type of non-interacting system. If the system indeed contains a dormant neutron star, it will become, in the future, a bright X-ray source and afterwards might even host a millisecond pulsar., Comment: 35 pages, 21 figures. accepted for publication in MNRAS

We propose to develop a wide-field and ultra-high-precision photometric survey mission, temporarily named "Earth 2.0 (ET)". This mission is designed to measure, for the first time, the occurrence rate and the orbital distributions of Earth-sized planets. ET consists of seven 30cm telescopes, to be launched to the Earth-Sun's L2 point. Six of these are transit telescopes with a field of view of 500 square degrees. Staring in the direction that encompasses the original Kepler field for four continuous years, this monitoring will return tens of thousands of transiting planets, including the elusive Earth twins orbiting solar-type stars. The seventh telescope is a 30cm microlensing telescope that will monitor an area of 4 square degrees toward the galactic bulge. This, combined with simultaneous ground-based KMTNet observations, will measure masses for hundreds of long-period and free-floating planets. Together, the transit and the microlensing telescopes will revolutionize our understandings of terrestrial planets across a large swath of orbital distances and free space. KH 15D contains a circumbinary disk that is tilted relative to the orbital plane of the central binary. The precession of the disk and the orbital motion of the binary together produce rich phenomena in the photometric light curve. In this work, we present the discovery and preliminary analysis of two objects that resemble the key features of KH 15D from the Zwicky Transient Facility. These new objects, Bernhard-1 and Bernhard-2, show large-amplitude ($>1.5\,$mag), long-duration (more than tens of days), and periodic dimming events. A one-sided screen model is developed to model the photometric behaviour of these objects, the physical interpretation of which is a tilted, warped circumbinary disk occulting the inner binary. Changes in the object light curves suggest potential precession periods over timescales longer than 10 years. The All-Sky Automated Survey for Supernovae (ASAS-SN) is the first optical survey to monitor the entire sky, currently with a cadence of $\lesssim 24$ hours down to $g \lesssim 18.5$ mag. ASAS-SN has routinely operated since 2013, collecting $\sim$ 2,000 to over 7,500 epochs of $V$ and $g-$band observations per field to date. This work illustrates the first analysis of ASAS-SN's newer, deeper, higher cadence $g-$band data. From an input source list of ${\sim}55$ million isolated sources with $g<18$~mag, we identified $1.5\times10^6$ variable star candidates using a random forest classifier trained on features derived from $\textit{Gaia}$, 2MASS, and AllWISE. Using ASAS-SN $g-$band light curves, and an updated random forest classifier augmented with data from Citizen ASAS-SN, we classified the candidate variables into 8 broad variability types. We present a catalog of ${\sim}116,000$ new variable stars with high classification probabilities, including ${\sim}111,000$ periodic variables and ${\sim}5,000$ irregular variables. We complete the survey for finite-source/point-lens (FSPL) giant-source events in 2016-2019 KMTNet microlensing data. The 30 FSPL events show a clear gap in Einstein radius, $9\,\mu{\rm as}<\theta_{\rm E} <26\,\mu{\rm as}$, which is consistent with the gap in Einstein timescales near $t_{\rm E}\sim 0.5\,$days found by Mroz et al. (2017) in an independent sample of point-source/point-lens (PSPL) events. We demonstrate that the two surveys are consistent. We estimate that the 4 events below this gap are due to a power-law distribution of free-floating planet candidates (FFPs) $dN_{\rm FFP}/d\log M = (0.4\pm 0.2)\,(M/38 M_\oplus)^{-p}$/star, with $0.9\lesssim p \lesssim 1.2$. There are substantially more FFPs than known bound planets, implying that the bound planet power-law index $\gamma=0.6$ is likely shaped by the ejection process at least as much as by formation. The mass density per decade of FFPs in the Solar neighborhood is of the same order as that of 'Oumuamua-like objects. In particular, if we assume that 'Oumuamua is part of the same process that ejected the FFPs to very wide or unbound orbits, the power-law index is $p=0.92\pm 0.06$. If the Solar System's endowment of Neptune-mass objects in Neptune-like orbits is typical, which is consistent with the results of Poleski et al. The radius valley, a dip in the radius distribution of exoplanets at ~1.9 Earth radii separates compact rocky Super-Earths and Sub-Neptunes with lower density. Various hypotheses have been put forward to explain the radius valley. Characterizing the radius valley morphology and its correlation to stellar properties will provide crucial observation constraints on its origin mechanism and deepen the understanding of planet formation and evolution. In this paper, the third part of the Planets Across the Space and Time (PAST) series, using the LAMOST-Gaia-Kepler catalog, we perform a systematical investigation into how the radius valley morphology varies in the Galactic context, i.e., thin/thick galactic disks, stellar age and metallicity abundance ([Fe/H] and [alpha/Fe]). We find that (1) The valley becomes more prominent with the increase of both age and [Fe/H]. (2) The number ratio of super-Earths to sub-Neptunes monotonically increases with age but decreases with [Fe/H] and [alpha/Fe]. (3) The average radius of planets above the valley (2.1-6 Earth radii) decreases with age but increases with [Fe/H]. (4) In contrast, the average radius of planets below the valley (R < 1.7 Earth radii) is broadly independent on age and metallicity. The Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST), also known as the Guoshoujing Telescope, is a major national scientific facility for astronomical research located in Xinglong, China. Beginning with a pilot survey in 2011, LAMOST has been surveying the night sky for more than 10 years. The LAMOST survey covers various objects in the Universe, from normal stars to peculiar ones, from the Milky Way to other galaxies, and from stellar black holes and their companions to quasars that ignite ancient galaxies. Until the latest data release 8, the LAMOST survey has released spectra for more than 10 million stars, ~220,000 galaxies, and ~71,000 quasars. With this largest celestial spectra database ever constructed, LAMOST has helped astronomers to deepen their understanding of the Universe, especially for our Milky Way galaxy and the millions of stars within it. In this article, we briefly review the characteristics, observations, and scientific achievements of LAMOST. Using data from the Complete Nearby ($z_{host}<0.02$) sample of Type Ia Supernovae (CNIa0.02), we discover a linear relation between two parameters derived from the $B-V$ color curves of Type Ia supernovae: the "color stretch" $s_{BV}$ and the rising color slope $s_0^*(B-V)$ after the peak, and this relation applies to the full range of $s_{BV}$. The $s_{BV}$ parameter is known to be tightly correlated with the peak luminosity, and especially for "fast decliners" (dim Type Ia supernovae), and the luminosity correlation with $s_{BV}$ is markedly better than with the classic light-curve width parameters such as $\Delta{m_{15}(B)}$. Thus our new linear relation can be used to infer peak luminosity from $s_0^*$. Unlike $s_{BV}$ (or $\Delta{m_{15}}$), the measurement of $s_0^*(B-V)$ does not rely on the well-determined time of light-curve peak or color maximum, making it less demanding on the light-curve coverage than past approaches., Comment: Submitted to AAS Journals, 7 pages, 4 figures

We constrain the host-star flux of the microlensing planet OGLE-2014-BLG-0676Lb using adaptive optics (AO) images taken by the Magellan and Keck telescopes. We measure the flux of the light blended with the microlensed source to be K = 16.79 +/- 0.04 mag and J = 17.76 +/- 0.03 mag. Assuming that the blend is the lens star, we find that the host is a $0.73_{-0.29}^{+0.14}$ M_Sun star at a distance of $2.67_{-1.41}^{+0.77}$ kpc, where the relatively large uncertainty in angular Einstein radius measurement is the major source of uncertainty. With mass of $M_p = 3.68_{-1.44}^{+0.69}$ M_J, the planet is likely a "super Jupiter" at a projected separation of $r_{\perp} = 4.53_{-2.50}^{+1.49}$ AU, and a degenerate model yields a similar $M_p = 3.73_{-1.47}^{+0.73}$ M_J at a closer separation of $r_{\perp} = 2.56_{-1.41}^{+0.84}$ AU. Our estimates are consistent with the previous Bayesian analysis based on a Galactic model. OGLE-2014-BLG-0676Lb belongs to a sample of planets discovered in a "second-generation" planetary microlensing survey, and we attempt to systematically constrain host properties of this sample with high-resolution imaging to study the distribution of planets., Comment: Published in RAA

We report adaptive-optics (AO) follow-up imaging of OGLE-2014-BLG-1050, which is the second binary microlensing event with space-based parallax measurements. The degeneracy in microlens parallax pi_E led to two sets of solutions, either a ~(0.9, 0.35) M_Sun binary at ~3.5 kpc, or a ~(0.2, 0.07) M_Sun binary at ~1.1 kpc. We measure the flux blended with the microlensed source by conducting Magellan AO observations, and find that the blending is consistent with the predicted lens flux from the higher-mass solution. From the combination of the AO flux measurement together with previous lensing constraints, it is estimated that} the lens system consists of a $1.05^{+0.08}_{-0.07}$ M_Sun primary and a $0.38^{+0.07}_{-0.06}$ M_Sun secondary at $3.43^{+0.19}_{-0.21}$ kpc., Comment: Published in AJ

The light curve of the microlensing event KMT-2021-BLG-0912 exhibits a very short anomaly relative to a single-lens single-source form. We investigate the light curve for the purpose of identifying the origin of the anomaly. We model the light curve under various interpretations. From this, we find four solutions, in which three solutions are found under the assumption that the lens is composed of two masses (2L1S models), and the other solution is found under the assumption that the source is comprised of a binary-star system (1L2S model). The 1L2S model is ruled out based on the contradiction that the faint source companion is bigger than its primary, and one of the 2L1S solutions is excluded from the combination of the relatively worse fit, blending constraint, and lower overall probability, leaving two surviving solutions with the planet/host mass ratios of $q\sim 2.8\times 10^{-5}$ and $\sim 1.1\times 10^{-5}$. A subtle central deviation supports the possibility of a tertiary lens component, either a binary companion to the host with a very large or small separation or a second planet lying near the Einstein ring, but it is difficult to claim a secure detection due to the marginal fit improvement, lack of consistency among different data sets, and difficulty in uniquely specifying the nature of the tertiary component. With the observables of the event, it is estimated that the masses of the planet and host are $\sim (6.9~M_\oplus, 0.75~M_\odot)$ according to one solution and $\sim (2.8~M_\oplus, 0.80~M_\odot)$ according to the other solution, indicating that the planet is a super Earth around a K-type star, regardless of the solution., Comment: 11 pages, 10 figures, 7 tables

With the aim of interpreting anomalous lensing events with no suggested models, we conducted a project of reinvestigating microlensing data in and before the 2019 season. In this work, we report a multi-planet system OGLE-2019-BLG-0468L found from the project. The light curve of the lensing event OGLE-2019-BLG-0468, which consists of three distinctive anomaly features, could not be explained by the usual binary-lens or binary-source interpretation. We find a solution explaining all anomaly features with a triple-lens interpretation, in which the lens is composed of two planets and their host, making the lens the fourth multi-planet system securely found by microlensing. The two planets have masses $\sim 3.4~M_{\rm J}$ and $\sim 10.2~M_{\rm J}$, and they are orbiting around a G-type star with a mass $\sim 0.9~M_\odot$ and a distance $\sim 4.4$ kpc. The host of the planets is most likely responsible for the light of the baseline object, although the possibility for the host to be a companion to the baseline object cannot be ruled out., Comment: 10 pages, 3 tables, 11 figures

We present spectroscopy and photometry of SN 2018zd, a Type IIP core-collapse supernova with signatures of interaction with circumstantial material in its earliest spectra. High ionization lines, the earmark of shock breakout, are not seen in the earliest spectral epoch, and are only seen in a single spectrum at 4.9 d after explosion. The strength and brevity of these features imply a confined circumstellar material shell in the immediate vicinity of the progenitor. Once the narrow emission lines disappear, SN 2018zd evolves similarly to a Type IIP SN, although the blue colour and enhanced plateau magnitude of SN 2018zd suggests an additional source of luminosity throughout the plateau phase. While SN 2018zd has previously been proposed as an electron-capture SN, we suggest that it is an Fe core-collapse from a low mass red supergiant progenitor. Differences in interpretation for SN 2018zd arise in part due to the large uncertainty on the distance to the host-galaxy NGC 2146, which we re-derive here to be $15.6^{+6.1}_{-3.0}$ Mpc. We find the ejected $^{56}$Ni mass for SN 2018zd to be 0.017 M$_{\odot}$, significantly higher than models of ECSNe predict. We also find the Ni/Fe ratio in SN 2018zd to be much lower that would be expected for an ECSN.

We present observations of the extremely luminous but ambiguous nuclear transient (ANT) ASASSN-17jz, spanning roughly 1200 days of the object's evolution. ASASSN-17jz was discovered by the All-Sky Automated Survey for Supernovae (ASAS-SN) in the galaxy SDSS J171955.84+414049.4 on UT 2017 July 27 at a redshift of $z=0.1641$. The transient peaked at an absolute $B$-band magnitude of $M_{B,{\rm peak}}=-22.81$, corresponding to a bolometric luminosity of $L_{\rm bol,peak}=8.3\times10^{44}$~erg~s$^{-1}$, and exhibited late-time ultraviolet emission that was still ongoing in our latest observations. Integrating the full light curve gives a total emitted energy of $E_{\rm tot}=(1.36\pm0.08)\times10^{52}$~erg, with $(0.80\pm0.02)\times10^{52}$~erg of this emitted within 200 days of peak light. This late-time ultraviolet emission is accompanied by increasing X-ray emission that becomes softer as it brightens. ASASSN-17jz exhibited a large number of spectral emission lines most commonly seen in active galactic nuclei (AGNs) with little evidence of evolution. It also showed transient Balmer features which became fainter and broader over time, and are still being detected $>1000$ days after peak brightness. We consider various physical scenarios for the origin of the transient, including supernovae (SNe), tidal disruption events (TDEs), AGN outbursts, and ANTs. We find that the most likely explanation is that ASASSN-17jz was an SN~IIn occurring in or near the disk of an existing AGN, and that the late-time emission is caused by the AGN transitioning to a more active state., Comment: 35 pages, 20 figures, 10 tables. The Kepler telescope has discovered over 4,000 planets (candidates) by searching ? 200,000 stars over a wide range of distance (order of kpc) in our Galaxy. Characterizing the kinematic properties (e.g., Galactic component membership and kinematic age) of these Kepler targets (including the planet (candidate) hosts) is the first step towards studying Kepler planets in the Galactic context, which will reveal fresh insights into planet formation and evolution. In this paper, the second part of the Planets Across the Space and Time (PAST) series, by combining the data from LAMOST and Gaia and then applying the revised kinematic methods from PAST I, we present a catalog of kinematic properties(i.e., Galactic positions, velocities, and the relative membership probabilities among the thin disk, thick disk, Hercules stream, and the halo) as well as other basic stellar parameters for 35,835 Kepler stars. Further analyses of the LAMOST-Gaia-Kepler catalog demonstrate that our derived kinematic age reveals the expected stellar activity-age trend. Furthermore, we find that the fraction of thin(thick) disk stars increases (decreases) with the transiting planet multiplicity (Np = 0, 1, 2 and 3+) and the kinematic age decreases with Np, which could be a consequence of the dynamical evolution of planetary architecture with age. There is a wide consensus that type Ia supernovae (SN Ia) originate from the thermonuclear explosion of CO white dwarfs (WD), with the lack of hydrogen in the observed spectra as a distinctive feature. Here, we present SN 2016jae, which was classified as a Type Ia SN from a spectrum obtained soon after the discovery. The SN reached a B-band peak of -17.93 +- 0.34 mag, followed by a fast luminosity decline with sBV 0.56 +- 0.06 and inferred Dm15(B) of 1.88 +- 0.10 mag. Overall, the SN appears as a "transitional" event between "normal" SNe Ia and very dim SNe Ia such as 91bg-like SNe. Its peculiarity is that two late-time spectra taken at +84 and +142 days after the peak show a narrow line of Halpha (with full width at half-maximum of ~650 and 1000 kms-1, respectively). This is the third low-luminosity and fast-declining Type Ia SN after SN 2018cqj/ATLAS18qtd and SN 2018fhw/ASASSN-18tb, found in the 100IAS survey that shows resolved narrow Halpha line in emission in their nebular-phase spectra. We argue that the nebular Halpha emission originates in an expanding hydrogen-rich shell (with velocity < 1000 kms-1). The hydrogen shell velocity is too high to be produced during a common envelope phase, while it may be consistent with some material stripped from an H-rich companion star in a single-degenerate progenitor system. However, the derived mass of this stripped hydrogen is ~0.002-0.003 Msun, which is much less than that expected (>0.1 Msun) for standard models for these scenarios. Another plausible sequence of events is a weak SN ejecta interaction with a H-shell ejected by optically thick winds or a nova-like eruption on the C/O WD progenitor some years before the supernova explosion., Comment: 10 pages, 11 figures and 3 tables. Blazars are active galactic nuclei with their relativistic jets pointing toward the observer, with two major sub-classes, the flat spectrum radio quasars and BL Lac objects. We present multi-wavelength photometric and spectroscopic monitoring observations of the blazar, B2 1420+32, focusing on its outbursts in 2018-2020. Multi-epoch spectra show that the blazar exhibited large scale spectral variability in both its continuum and line emission, accompanied by dramatic gamma-ray and optical variability by factors of up to 40 and 15, respectively, on week to month timescales. Over the last decade, the gamma-ray and optical fluxes increased by factors of 1500 and 100, respectively. B2 1420+32 was an FSRQ with broad emission lines in 1995. Following a series of flares starting in 2018, it transitioned between BL Lac and FSRQ states multiple times, with the emergence of a strong Fe pseudo continuum. Two spectra also contain components that can be modeled as single-temperature black bodies of 12,000 and 5,200 K. Such a collection of "changing look" features has never been observed previously in a blazar. We measure gamma-ray-optical and the inter-band optical lags implying emission region separations of less than 800 and 130 gravitational radii respectively. Since most emission line flux variations, except the Fe continuum, are within a factor of 2-3, the transitions between FSRQ and BL Lac classifications are mainly caused by the continuum variability. The large Fe continuum flux increase suggests the occurrence of dust sublimation releasing more Fe ions in the central engine and an energy transfer from the relativistic jet to sub-relativistic emission components., Comment: 21 pages, 6 figures

In the last few years, significant advances have been made in understanding the distributions of exoplanet populations and the architecture of planetary systems. We review the recent progress of planet statistics, with a focus on the inner <~ 1 AU region of the planetary system that has been fairly thoroughly surveyed by the Kepler mission. We present the bolometric lightcurve, identification and analysis of the progenitor candidate, and preliminary modelling of AT2016jbu (Gaia16cfr). We find a progenitor consistent with a $\sim$22--25~$M_{\odot}$ yellow hypergiant surrounded by a dusty circumstellar shell, in agreement with what has been previously reported. We see evidence for significant photometric variability in the progenitor, as well as strong H$\alpha$ emission consistent with pre-existing circumstellar material. The age of the environment as well as the resolved stellar population surrounding AT2016jbu, support a progenitor age of $>$10 Myr, consistent with a progenitor mass of $\sim$22~$M_{\odot}$. A joint analysis of the velocity evolution of AT2016jbu, and the photospheric radius inferred from the bolometric lightcurve shows the transient is consistent with two successive outbursts/explosions. The first outburst ejected material with velocity $\sim$650$kms^{-1}$, while the second, more energetic event, ejected material at $\sim$4500$kms^{-1}$. Whether the latter is the core-collapse of the progenitor remains uncertain. We place a limit on the ejected $^{56}$Ni mass of $<$0.016$M_{\odot}$. Using the BPASS code, we explore a wide range of possible progenitor systems, and find that the majority of these are in binaries, some of which are undergoing mass transfer or common envelope evolution immediately prior to explosion. Finally, we use the SNEC code to demonstrate that the low-energy explosion within some of these binary systems, together with sufficient CSM, can reproduce the overall morphology of the lightcurve of AT2016jbu., Comment: 23 pages, 15 figures, accepted for publication in MNRAS

We present the results from a high cadence, multi-wavelength observation campaign of AT 2016jbu (aka Gaia16cfr), an interacting transient. This dataset complements the current literature by adding higher cadence as well as extended coverage of the lightcurve evolution and late-time spectroscopic evolution. Photometric coverage reveals that AT 2016jbu underwent significant photometric variability followed by two luminous events, the latter of which reached an absolute magnitude of M$_V\sim$-18.5 mag. This is similar to the transient SN 2009ip whose nature is still debated. Spectra are dominated by narrow emission lines and show a blue continuum during the peak of the second event. AT 2016jbu shows signatures of a complex, non-homogeneous circumstellar material (CSM). We see slowly evolving asymmetric hydrogen line profiles, with velocities of 500km$s^{-1}$ seen in narrow emission features from a slow moving CSM, and up to 10,000km$s^{-1}$ seen in broad absorption from some high velocity material. Late-time spectra ($\sim$+1 year) show a lack of forbidden emission lines expected from a core-collapse supernova and are dominated by strong emission from H, He i and Ca ii. Strong asymmetric emission features, a bumpy lightcurve, and continually evolving spectra suggest an inhibit nebular phase. We compare the evolution of H$\alpha$ among SN 2009ip-like transients and find possible evidence for orientation angle effects. The CNIa0.02 project aims to collect a complete, nearby sample of Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) light curves, and the SNe are volume-limited with host-galaxy redshifts z_host < 0.02. The main scientific goal is to infer the distributions of key properties (e.g., the luminosity function) of local SNe Ia in a complete and unbiased fashion in order to study SN explosion physics. We spectroscopically classify any SN candidate detected by the All-Sky Automated Survey for Supernovae (ASAS-SN) that reaches peak brightness < 16.5 mag. Since ASAS-SN scans the full sky and does not target specific galaxies, our target selection is effectively unbiased by host-galaxy properties. We perform multi-band photometric observations starting from the time of discovery. In the first data release (DR1), we present the optical light curves obtained for 247 SNe from our project (including 148 SNe in the complete sample), and we derive parameters such as the peak fluxes, dm15 and s_BV., Comment: published in ApJS

The mass and distance functions of free-floating planets (FFPs) would give major insights into the formation and evolution of planetary systems, including any systematic differences between those in the disk and bulge. We show that the only way to measure the mass and distance of individual FFPs over a broad range of distances is to observe them simultaneously from two observatories separated by $D\sim {\cal O}(0.01\,AU)$ (to measure their microlens parallax $\pi_{\rm E}$) and to focus on the finite-source point-lens (FSPL) events (which yield the Einstein radius $\theta_{\rm E}$). By combining the existing KMTNet 3-telescope observatory with a 0.3m $4\,{\rm deg}^2$ telescope at L2, of order 130 such measurements could be made over four years, down to about $M\sim 6\,M_\oplus$ for bulge FFPs and $M\sim 0.7\,M_\oplus$ for disk FFPs. The same experiment would return masses and distances for many bound planetary systems. A more ambitious experiment, with two 0.5m satellites (one at L2 and the other nearer Earth) and similar camera layout but in the infrared, could measure masses and distances of sub-Moon mass objects, and thereby probe (and distinguish between) genuine sub-Moon FFPs and sub-Moon ``dwarf planets'' in exo-Kuiper Belts and exo-Oort Clouds., Comment: RAA, in press

We present the photometric and spectroscopic evolution of the Type II supernova (SN II) SN 2017ivv (also known as ASASSN-17qp). Located in an extremely faint galaxy (M$_r=-10.3$ mag), SN 2017ivv shows an unprecedented evolution during the two years of observations. At early times, the light curve shows a fast rise ($\sim6-8$ days) to a peak of ${\rm M}^{\rm max}_{g}= -17.84$ mag, followed by a very rapid decline of $7.94\pm0.48$ mag per 100 days in the $V-$band. The extensive photometric coverage at late phases shows that the radioactive tail has two slopes, one steeper than that expected from the decay of $^{56}$Co (between 100 and 350 days), and another slower (after 450 days), probably produced by an additional energy source. From the bolometric light curve, we estimated that the amount of ejected $^{56}$Ni is $\sim0.059\pm0.003$ M$\odot$. The nebular spectra of SN 2017ivv show a remarkable transformation that allows the evolution to be split into three phases: (1) H$\alpha$ strong phase ($<200$ days); (2) H$\alpha$ weak phase (between 200 and 350 days); and (3) H$\alpha$ broad phase ($>500$ days). We find that the nebular analysis favours a binary progenitor and an asymmetric explosion. Finally, comparing the nebular spectra of SN 2017ivv to models suggests a progenitor with a zero-age main-sequence mass of 15 -- 17 \Msun., Comment: Accepted for publication in MNRAS

ASASSN-18am/SN 2018gk is a newly discovered member of the rare group of luminous, hydrogen-rich supernovae (SNe) with a peak absolute magnitude of $M_V \approx -20$ mag that is in between normal core-collapse SNe and superluminous SNe. These SNe show no prominent spectroscopic signatures of ejecta interacting with circumstellar material (CSM), and their powering mechanism is debated. ASASSN-18am declines extremely rapidly for a Type II SN, with a photospheric-phase decline rate of $\sim6.0~\rm mag~(100 d)^{-1}$. Owing to the weakening of HI and the appearance of HeI in its later phases, ASASSN-18am is spectroscopically a Type IIb SN with a partially stripped envelope. However, its photometric and spectroscopic evolution show significant differences from typical SNe IIb. Using a radiative diffusion model, we find that the light curve requires a high synthesised $\rm ^{56}Ni$ mass $M_{\rm Ni} \sim0.4~M_\odot$ and ejecta with high kinetic energy $E_{\rm kin} = (7-10) \times10^{51} $ erg. Introducing a magnetar central engine still requires $M_{\rm Ni} \sim0.3~M_\odot$ and $E_{\rm kin}= 3\times10^{51} $ erg. The high $\rm ^{56}Ni$ mass is consistent with strong iron-group nebular lines in its spectra, which are also similar to several SNe Ic-BL with high $\rm ^{56}Ni$ yields. The earliest spectrum shows "flash ionisation" features, from which we estimate a mass-loss rate of $ \dot{M}\approx 2\times10^{-4}~\rm M_\odot~yr^{-1} $. This wind density is too low to power the luminous light curve by ejecta-CSM interaction. We measure expansion velocities as high as $ 17,000 $ km/s for $H_\alpha$, which is remarkably high compared to other SNe II. We estimate an oxygen core mass of $1.8-3.4$ $M_\odot$ using the [OI] luminosity measured from a nebular-phase spectrum, implying a progenitor with a zero-age main sequence mass of $19-26$ $M_\odot$.

The All-Sky Automated Survey for Supernovae (ASAS-SN) provides long baseline (${\sim}4$ yrs) $V-$band light curves for sources brighter than V$\lesssim17$ mag across the whole sky. We produced V-band light curves for a total of ${\sim}61.5$ million sources and systematically searched these sources for variability. We identified ${\sim} 426,000$ variables, including ${\sim} 219,000$ new discoveries. Most (${\sim}74\%$) of our discoveries are in the Southern hemisphere. Here we use spectroscopic information from LAMOST, GALAH, RAVE, and APOGEE to study the physical and chemical properties of these variables. We find that metal-poor eclipsing binaries have orbital periods that are shorter than metal-rich systems at fixed temperature. We identified rotational variables on the main-sequence, red giant branch and the red clump. A substantial fraction (${\gtrsim}80\%$) of the rotating giants have large $v_{\rm rot}$ or large NUV excesses also indicative of fast rotation. The rotational variables have unusual abundances suggestive of analysis problems. Semi-regular variables tend to be lower metallicity ($\rm [Fe/H]{\sim}-0.5$) than most giant stars. We find that the APOGEE DR16 temperatures of oxygen-rich semi-regular variables are strongly correlated with the $W_{RP}-W_{JK}$ color index for $\rm T_{eff}\lesssim3800$ K. Using abundance measurements from APOGEE DR16, we find evidence for Mg and N enrichment in the semi-regular variables. We find that the Aluminum abundances of the semi-regular variables are strongly correlated with the pulsation period, where the variables with $\rm P\gtrsim 60$ days are significantly depleted in Al., Comment: 44 pages, 33 figures. We present observations of ASASSN-19dj, a nearby tidal disruption event (TDE) discovered in the post-starburst galaxy KUG 0810+227 by the All-Sky Automated Survey for Supernovae (ASAS-SN) at a distance of d $\simeq98$ Mpc. We observed ASASSN-19dj from $-$21 to 392 d relative to peak ultraviolet (UV)/optical emission using high-cadence, multiwavelength spectroscopy and photometry. From the ASAS-SN $g$-band data, we determine that the TDE began to brighten on 2019 February 6.8 and for the first 16 d the rise was consistent with a flux $\propto t^2$ power-law. ASASSN-19dj peaked in the UV/optical on 2019 March 6.5 (MJD = 58548.5) at a bolometric luminosity of $L = (6.2 \pm 0.2) \times 10^{44} \text{ erg s}^{-1}$. Initially remaining roughly constant in X-rays and slowly fading in the UV/optical, the X-ray flux increased by over an order of magnitude $\sim$225 d after peak, resulting from the expansion of the X-ray emitting region. The late-time X-ray emission is well fitted by a blackbody with an effective radius of $\sim1 \times 10^{12} \text{ cm}$ and a temperature of $\sim6 \times 10^{5} \text{ K}$. The X-ray hardness ratio becomes softer after brightening and then returns to a harder state as the X-rays fade. Analysis of Catalina Real-Time Transient Survey images reveals a nuclear outburst roughly 14.5 yr earlier with a smooth decline and a luminosity of $L_V\geq1.4 \times 10^{43}$ erg s$^{-1}$, although the nature of the flare is unknown. ASASSN-19dj occurred in the most extreme post-starburst galaxy yet to host a TDE, with Lick H$\delta_{A}$ = $7.67\pm0.17$ \AA., Comment: Updated to match accepted MNRAS version

Since September 2018, LAMOST starts a new 5-year medium-resolution spectroscopic survey (MRS) using bright/gray nights. We present the scientific goals of LAMOST-MRS and propose a near optimistic strategy of the survey. A complete footprint is also provided. Not only the regular medium-resolution survey, but also a time-domain spectroscopic survey is being conducted since 2018 and will be end in 2023. According to the detailed survey plan, we expect that LAMOST-MRS can observe about 2 million stellar spectra with ~7500 and limiting magnitude of around G=15 mag. Moreover, it will also provide about 200 thousand stars with averagely 60-epoch observations and limiting magnitude of G~14 mag. These high quality spectra will give around 20 elemental abundances, rotational velocities, emission line profiles as well as precise radial velocity with uncertainty less than 1 km/s. With these data, we expect that LAMOST can effectively leverage sciences on stellar physics, e.g. exotic binary stars, detailed observation of many types of variable stars etc., planet host stars, emission nebulae, open clusters, young pre-main-sequence stars etc., Comment: 25 pages, 10 figues. M31-2015-LRN is a likely stellar merger discovered in the Andromeda Galaxy in 2015. We present new optical to mid-infrared photometry and optical spectroscopy for this event. Archival data shows that the source started to brighten $\sim$2 years before the nova event. During this precursor phase, the source brightened by $\sim$3 mag. The lightcurve at 6 and 1.5 months before the main outburst may show periodicity, with periods of 16$\pm$0.3 and 28.1$\pm$1.4 days respectively. This complex emission may be explained by runaway mass loss from the system after the binary undergoes Roche-lobe overflow, leading the system to coalesce in tens of orbital periods. While the progenitor spectral energy distribution shows no evidence of pre-existing warm dust in system, the remnant forms an optically thick dust shell at $\sim$4 months after the outburst peak. The optical depth of the shell increases dramatically after 1.5 years, suggesting the existence of shocks that enhance the dust formation process. We propose that the merger remnant is likely an inflated giant obscured by a cooling shell of gas with mass $\sim0.2$ M$_{\odot}$ ejected at the onset of the common envelope phase., Comment: 16 pages, 10 figures. We present nearly 500 days of observations of the tidal disruption event ASASSN-18pg, spanning from 54 days before peak light to 441 days after peak light. Our dataset includes X-ray, UV, and optical photometry, optical spectroscopy, radio observations, and the first published spectropolarimetric observations of a TDE. ASASSN-18pg was discovered on 2018 July 11 by the All-Sky Automated Survey for Supernovae (ASAS-SN) at a distance of $d=78.6$ Mpc, and with a peak UV magnitude of $m\simeq14$ it is both one of the nearest and brightest TDEs discovered to-date. The photometric data allow us to track both the rise to peak and the long-term evolution of the TDE. ASASSN-18pg peaked at a luminosity of $L\simeq2.2\times10^{44}$ erg s$^{-1}$, and its late-time evolution is shallower than a flux $\propto t^{-5/3}$ power-law model, similar to what has been seen in other TDEs. ASASSN-18pg exhibited Balmer lines and spectroscopic features consistent with Bowen fluorescence prior to peak which remained detectable for roughly 225 days after peak. Analysis of the two-component H$\alpha$ profile indicates that, if they are the result of reprocessing of emission from the accretion disk, the different spectroscopic lines may be coming from regions between $\sim10$ and $\sim60$ light-days from the black hole. No X-ray emission is detected from the TDE and there is no evidence of a jet or strong outflow detected in the radio. Our spectropolarimetric observations give no strong evidence for significant asphericity in the emission region, with the emission region having an axis ratio of at least $\sim0.65$., Comment: 22 pages, 11 figures, 5 tables. We report the lens mass and distance measurements of the nearby microlensing event TCP J05074264+2447555. We measure the microlens parallax vector ${\pi}_{\rm E}$ using Spitzer and ground-based light curves with constraints on the direction of lens-source relative proper motion derived from Very Large Telescope Interferometer (VLTI) GRAVITY observations. Combining this ${\pi}_{\rm E}$ determination with the angular Einstein radius $\theta_{\rm E}$ measured by VLTI GRAVITY observations, we find that the lens is a star with mass $M_{\rm L} = 0.495 \pm 0.063~M_{\odot}$ at a distance $D_{\rm L} = 429 \pm 21~{\rm pc}$. We find that the blended light basically all comes from the lens. The lens-source proper motion is $\mu_{\rm rel,hel} = 26.55 \pm 0.36~{\rm mas\,yr^{-1}}$, so with currently available adaptive-optics (AO) instruments, the lens and source can be resolved in 2021. We present the discovery of ASASSN-18jd (AT 2018bcb), a luminous optical/UV/X-ray transient located in the nucleus of the galaxy 2MASX J22434289--1659083 at $z=0.1192$. Over the year after discovery, Swift UVOT photometry shows the UV SED of the transient to be well modeled by a slowly shrinking blackbody with temperature $T \sim 2.5 \times 10^{4} \rm ~K$, a maximum observed luminosity of $L_\text{max} = 4.5^{+0.6}_{-0.3} \times 10^{44} \rm ~erg ~s^{-1}$, and a radiated energy of $E = 9.6^{+1.1}_{-0.6} \times 10^{51} \rm ~erg$. X-ray data from Swift XRT and XMM-Newton show a transient, variable X-ray flux with blackbody and power-law components that fade by nearly an order of magnitude over the following year. Optical spectra show strong, roughly constant broad Balmer emission as well as transient features attributable to He II, N III-V, O III, and coronal Fe. We present observations of the unusually luminous Type II supernova (SN) 2016gsd. With a peak absolute magnitude of V = $-$19.95 $\pm$ 0.08, this object is one of the brightest Type II SNe, and lies in the gap of magnitudes between the majority of Type II SNe and the superluminous SNe. Its light curve shows little evidence of the expected drop from the optically thick phase to the radioactively powered tail. The velocities derived from the absorption in H$\alpha$ are also unusually high with the blue edge tracing the fastest moving gas initially at 20000 km s$^{-1}$, and then declining approximately linearly to 15000 km s$^{-1}$ over $\sim$100 d. The dwarf host galaxy of the SN indicates a low-metallicity progenitor which may also contribute to the weakness of the metal lines in its spectra. We examine SN 2016gsd with reference to similarly luminous, linear Type II SNe such as SNe 1979C and 1998S, and discuss the interpretation of its observational characteristics. We compare the observations with a model produced by the JEKYLL code and find that a massive star with a depleted and inflated hydrogen envelope struggles to reproduce the high luminosity and extreme linearity of SN 2016gsd. Instead, we suggest that the influence of interaction between the SN ejecta and circumstellar material can explain the majority of the observed properties of the SN. We present optical photometry and spectroscopy of the Type Ia supernova SN2018cqj/ATLAS18qtd. The supernova exploded in an isolated region at $\sim 65$~kpc from the S0 galaxy IC~550 at $z=0.0165$ ($D\approx 74$~Mpc) and has a redshift consistent with a physical association to this galaxy. Multicolor photometry show that SN2018cqj/ATLAS18qtd is a low-luminosity ($M_{B_{max}}\approx -17.9$ mag), fast-declining Type Ia with color stretch $s_{BV} \approx 0.6$ and $B$-band decline rate $\Delta m_{15}(B) \approx 1.77$ mag. Two nebular-phase spectra obtained as part of the 100IAS survey at +193 and +307 days after peak show the clear detection of a narrow H$\alpha$ line in emission that is resolved in the first spectrum with $\rm FWHM \approx 1200$ km s$^{-1}$ and $L_{H\alpha} \approx 3.8\times 10^{37}$ erg s$^{-1}$. The detection of a resolved H$\alpha$ line with a declining luminosity is broadly consistent with recent models where hydrogen is stripped from the non-degenerate companion in a single-degenerate progenitor system. However, the amount of hydrogen consistent with the luminosities of the H$\alpha$ line would be $\sim 10^{-3}$ M$_{\odot}$, significantly less than theoretical model predictions in the classical single-degenerate progenitor systems. SN2018cqj/ATLAS18qtd is the second low-luminosity, fast-declining Type Ia SN after SN2018fhw/ASASSN-18tb that shows narrow H$\alpha$ in emission in its nebular-phase spectra., Comment: Accepted for publication in ApJ

The All-Sky Automated Survey for Supernovae (ASAS-SN) provides long baseline (${\sim}4$ yrs) light curves for sources brighter than V$\lesssim17$ mag across the whole sky. As part of our effort to characterize the variability of all the stellar sources visible in ASAS-SN, we have produced ${\sim}30.1$ million V-band light curves for sources in the southern hemisphere using the APASS DR9 catalog as our input source list. We have systematically searched these sources for variability using a pipeline based on random forest classifiers. We have identified ${\sim} 220,000$ variables, including ${\sim} 88,300$ new discoveries. In particular, we have discovered ${\sim}48,000$ red pulsating variables, ${\sim}23,000$ eclipsing binaries, ${\sim}2,200$ $\delta$-Scuti variables and ${\sim}10,200$ rotational variables. The light curves and characteristics of the variables are all available through the ASAS-SN variable stars database (https://asas-sn.osu.edu/variables). The pre-computed ASAS-SN V-band light curves for all the ${\sim}30.1$ million sources are available through the ASAS-SN photometry database (https://asas-sn.osu.edu/photometry). We present the results of our photometric and spectroscopic follow-up of the intermediate-luminosity optical transient AT 2017jfs. At peak, the object reaches an absolute magnitude of Mg=-15.46+-0.15 mag and a bolometric luminosity of 5.5x10^41 erg/s. Its light curve has the double-peak shape typical of Luminous Red Novae (LRNe), with a narrow first peak bright in the blue bands, while the second peak is longer lasting and more luminous in the red and near-infrared (NIR) bands. During the first peak, the spectrum shows a blue continuum with narrow emission lines of H and Fe II. During the second peak, the spectrum becomes cooler, resembling that of a K-type star, and the emission lines are replaced by a forest of narrow lines in absorption. About 5 months later, while the optical light curves are characterized by a fast linear decline, the NIR ones show a moderate rebrightening, observed until the transient disappeared in solar conjunction. At these late epochs, the spectrum becomes reminiscent of that of M-type stars, with prominent molecular absorption bands. The late-time properties suggest the formation of some dust in the expanding common envelope or an IR echo from foreground pre-existing dust. We propose that the object is a common-envelope transient, possibly the outcome of a merging event in a massive binary, similar to NGC4490-2011OT1., Comment: 7 pages, 4 figures, 2 Tables (incl. one on-line).
