Abstract Hydroxybenzylamines are prevalent in drugs and bioactive molecules, including various antimalarial and anticancer drugs. α-tertiary alkylation of amines impacts drug-target interactions significantly through their influence on basicity and lipophilicity. Traditional N-alkylation methods, especially for α-tertiary amines, suffer from limitations due to high energy barriers from steric hindrance. In this work, we leverage visible light irradiation to enable the organoboronic acid addition to sterically hindered ketimines in the excited state. Notably, it overcomes the limitations of the well-explored Petasis reaction, which is restricted to aldimines due to the high energy barrier associated with ketimines (51.3 kcal/mol). This three-component coupling of aliphatic amines, o-phenolic ketones, and organoboronic acids delivers diverse α-tertiary o-hydroxybenzylamines (77 examples, yields up to 82%) with broad functional group tolerance. The light-driven 1,3-boronate rearrangement introduces quaternary carbon centers adjacent to the amine moiety to enable late-stage functionalization of complex bioactive molecules. This versatile tool for complex amine synthesis holds significant potential for accelerating advancements in drug discovery, chemical biology, and materials science research.

Abstract The challenging synthesis of thermodynamic-unfavored cis-olefins through catalytic cross-coupling reactions requires the synergistic interaction of substrate-activating units and configuration-regulating catalysts. Successfully hitting these two birds with one stone, we herein develop a convenient photoredox access to Z-alkenes from alkynes and light alkanes with a bifunctional iron-catalyzed system possessing both C(sp3)−H activation and configuration-controlling abilities. The protocol exhibits 100% atom utilization, mild conditions, a broad substrate scope, and compatibility with multitudinous functional groups. The detailed reaction mechanism and the origin of geometry regulation are well investigated by experimental and computational studies. Progressively, a catalytic amount of diaryl disulfides is introduced for consecutive photoinduced Z−E isomerization via reversible radical addition and flipping. Big steric hindrance substituents assembled on the disulfide emerge necessity for suppressing double-bond migration. This tandem strategy paves a promising way for stereoselective alkene construction and will bring significant inspiration for the development of transition metal photocatalysis.

Underwater optical sensor networks offer significant advantages over traditional acoustic sensor networks, such as high bandwidth and low latency, making them a research hotspot to realize high-speed and real-time transmission of underwater data in sea-air cross-domain communication. However, traditional routing protocols for underwater sensor networks often encounter problems such as routing holes and redundant data transmission due to the transmission obstruction and directional alignment of underwater optical nodes. To address these issues, a fuzzy logic-based opportunistic routing protocol for underwater optical sensor networks was proposed. Firstly, a fuzzy logic-based algorithm was proposed to evaluate the underwater optical channel links. Combined with the modeling of an underwater complex communication environment, the multi-factor fusion evaluation of routing metrics was designed. Additionally, a dynamic mechanism was designed to set the node data forwarding probability and data packet retention time based on real-time link evaluation data. Finally, a probabilistic redundant suppression forwarding algorithm was proposed. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed routing protocol effectively improves transmission efficiency and reduces end-to-end latency in typical marine communication environments, exhibiting good network dynamic adaptability.
