MIL-100(Fe) has been demonstrated as a commonly used photocatalyst but is limited by the deficient charge separation efficiency and difficult recovery. In this work, by taking advantages of the strong plasmonic absorption and electron conductivity of Ag nanoparticles, as well as the fast magnetic response of the Fe3O4, core/shell Ag/Fe3O4@MIL-100(Fe) (AFM) was facilely prepared by a direct hydrothermal reaction between H3btc and Ag/Fe3O4 (AF) for photo-Fenton degradation of RhB assisted by H2O2. Specifically, the Fe3O4 in AF acted as both ion precursor and protector to inhibit Ag aggregation to obtain uniform and dispersed core/shell AFM. By adjusting the MIL-100(Fe) thickness and the Ag proportion, the optimum AFM exhibits superior photo-Fenton activity to decompose 88.5% RhB within 30 min under visible-light irradiation and H2O2 addition, which is much higher than that of AFM in the presence of either light (58.5%) or H2O2 (46.6%) due to the synergistic effects of visible-light absorption by MIL-100(Fe) and ·OH generation from H2O2. Moreover, the catalyst can be collected conveniently for its strong magnetic responsibility. This work may be beneficial to the development of effective photo-Fenton catalysts. We propose a simple method to prepare TiO2/Bi4Ti3O12 nanorod (TiO2/BTO NR) arrays for photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting. Compared with other complex processes, the Bi4Ti3O12 was directly decorated on the hydrothermal grown TiO2 NR arrays by simple drop-coating of a precursor solution and subsequent reaction, which procedure is featured with the simple operation, time-cost, and uniform modification of the Bi4Ti3O12. The prepared TiO2/BTO composite NR arrays have significantly expanded visible light absorption than pristine TiO2. PEC measurements have stated that the obtained TiO2/BTO photoanode exhibits fast light response. Due to the promotion of light absorption and charge separation, stable and reproducible photocurrent density of 0.25 mA/cm2 can be achieved for the optimum TiO2/BTO composite photoanode, which is largely improved compared to the pristine TiO2. This work provides a feasible and low-cost pathway to establish TiO2/BTO photoanode, therefore, is suitable for practical applications. Bismuth vanadate (BiVO4) is a promising photocatalyst material for photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutions. However, the fast recombination of photo-induced charge and insufficient light absorption often lead to poor photocatalytic performance. Herein, novel fibrous BiVO4/CdS (BVO/CdS) heterostructures are constructed by uniformly modifying caterpillar shaped electrospun BiVO4 nanofibers with controllable quantity of CdS nanoparticles through hydrothermal reaction. The absorption of visible light and separation efficiency of photo-generated charge of BiVO4 are significantly promoted after the decoration of CdS nanoparticles. As a result, the photocatalytic efficiency of the optimized BVO/CdS sample (BVO/CdS-2 stands for the sample synthesized with 0.05 mmol Cd(CH3COO)2 and CH4N2S) is 90.43%, which is 3.3 times as high as that of pure BiVO4 after 180 min irradiation under visible light, respectively. Moreover, the.O2− and.OH are the predominant active species for the degradation process indicated by scavengers added photocatalytic experiments. A novel magnetic FeO/BiOI hybrid nanostructure was fabricated by combining electrospinning and successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) method. Hollow FeO nanofibers with internal diameter around 50 nm were produced by using electrospinning and calcinations of the as-spun fibers at 450 °C for 2 h. BiOI was deposited on the FeO nanofiber surface by SILAR method, and the BiOI quantity could be controlled by the growth cycles of SILAR. Similar synthetic procedure could also be used to prepare FeO/BiOBr and FeO/BiOCl hybrid nanostructures. The BiOI on the magnetic nanofiber surface is highly crystalline with lamellae morphology of around 16 nm in thickness from the X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy detections. The obtained FeO/BiOI hybrid nanostructures exhibit superior visible light catalytic performance toward decomposition of RhB. This new method, which can also be used to prepare other magnetic photocatalyst simply at low cost, is suitable for practical applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
