In the NISQ era, achieving large-scale quantum computing demands compact circuits to mitigate decoherence and gate error accumulation. Quantum operations with diverse degrees of freedom hold promise for circuit compression, but conventional approaches encounter challenges in simultaneously adjusting multiple parameters. Here, we propose a transition composite gate (TCG) scheme grounded on state-selective transition path engineering, enabling more expressive conditional operations. We experimentally validate a controlled unitary (CU) gate as an example, with independent and continuous parameters. By adjusting the parameters of $\rm X^{12}$ gate, we obtain the CU family with a fidelity range of 95.2% to 99.0% leveraging quantum process tomography (QPT). To demonstrate the capability of circuit compression, we use TCG scheme to prepare 3-qubit Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) and W states, with the fidelity of 96.77% and 95.72%. TCG can achieve the reduction in circuit depth of about 40% and 44% compared with the use of CZ gates only. Moreover, we show that short-path TCG (SPTCG) can further reduce the state-preparation circuit time cost. The discovery that blazars dominate the extra-galactic {\gamma}-ray sky is a triumph in the Fermi era. However, the exact location of {\gamma}-ray emission region still remains in debate. Low-synchrotron-peaked blazars (LSPs) are estimated to produce high-energy radiation through the external Compton process, thus their emission regions are closely related to the external photon fields. We employed the seed factor approach proposed by Georganopoulos et al. It directly matches the observed seed factor of each LSP with the characteristic seed factors of external photon fields to locate the {\gamma}-ray emission region. A sample of 1138 LSPs with peak frequencies and peak luminosities was adopted to plot a histogram distribution of observed seed factors. We also collected some spectral energy distributions (SEDs) of historical flare states to investigate the variation of {\gamma}-ray emission region. Those SEDs were fitted by both quadratic and cubic functions using the Markov-chain Monte Carlo method. Furthermore, we derived some physical parameters of blazars and compared them with the constraint of internal {\gamma}{\gamma}-absorption. We find that dusty torus dominates the soft photon fields of LSPs and most {\gamma}-ray emission regions of LSPs are located at 1-10 pc. The soft photon fields could also transition from dusty torus to broad line region and cosmic microwave background in different flare states. Quantum computational fluid dynamics (QCFD) offers a promising alternative to classical computational fluid dynamics (CFD) by leveraging quantum algorithms for higher efficiency. This paper introduces a comprehensive QCFD method, including an iterative method "Iterative-QLS" that suppresses error in quantum linear solver, and a subspace method to scale the solution to a larger size. We implement our method on a superconducting quantum computer, demonstrating successful simulations of steady Poiseuille flow and unsteady acoustic wave propagation. The Poiseuille flow simulation achieved a relative error of less than $0.2\%$, and the unsteady acoustic wave simulation solved a 5043-dimensional matrix. We emphasize the utilization of the quantum-classical hybrid approach in applications of near-term quantum computers. By adapting to quantum hardware constraints and offering scalable solutions for large-scale CFD problems, our method paves the way for practical applications of near-term quantum computers in computational science., Comment: 31 pages, 10 figures

Ground-state cooling of mechanical resonators is a prerequisite for the observation of various quantum effects in optomechanical systems and thus has always been a crucial task in quantum optomechanics. In this paper, we study how to realize ground-state cooling of the mechanical mode in a Fano-mirror optomechanical setup, which allows for enhanced effective optomechanical interaction but typically works in the (deeply) unresolved-sideband regime. We reveal that for such a two-sided cavity geometry with very different decay rates at the two cavity mirrors when using an appropriate single-sided coherent feedback, it is possible to cool the mechanical mode down to its ground state within a broad range of parameters. This is possible even if the total optical loss is more than seven orders of magnitude larger than the mechanical frequency and the feedback efficiency is relatively low. We propose a setup which combines giant emitters (coupling to light at multiple points separated by wavelength distances) with nonlinear quantum optics and its correlated photons. In this setup, we reveal a mechanism for multiphoton chiral emission: the propagation phase of the center of mass of two strongly correlated photons (a doublon), and the phases encoded in the coupling points of two giant emitters, can yield completely destructive interference in one propagation direction while supporting emission in the other direction. The degree of chirality can be tuned by the phases of the couplings. We show that the proposed setup can provide directional quantum many-body resources, and can be configured as a building block for a chiral quantum network with ``correlated flying qubits'', enabling distinct applications beyond linear chiral setups. Our findings point toward a rich landscape of tailoring multiphoton propagation and correlation properties by exploiting interference effects of giant emitters coupling to nonlinear photonic baths., Comment: 26 pages; 12 figures

This paper studies the formal deformations of differential algebra morphisms. As a consequence, we develop a cohomology theory of differential algebra morphisms to interpret the lower degree cohomology groups as formal deformations. Then, we prove the Cohomology Comparison Theorem of differential algebra morphisms, i.e., the cohomology of a morphism of differential algebras is isomorphic to the cohomology of an auxiliary differential algebra. Finally, we can give a minimal model for morphism of differential algebras with weight=0.

We study single-photon scattering spectra of a giant atom chirally coupled to a one-dimensional waveguide at multiple connection points, and examine chirality induced effects in the scattering spectra. We show that the transmission spectra typically possess an anti-Lorentzian lineshape with a nonzero minimum, but by engineering the chirality of the multi-point coupling, the transmission spectrum of an incident photon can undergo a transition from complete transmission to total reflection at multiple frequency ``windows'', where the width of the anti-Lorentzian lineshape for each of the window can be flexibly tuned at a fixed frequency detuning. Moreover, we show that a perfect nonreciprocal photon scattering can be achieved due to the interplay between internal atomic spontaneous emission and the chirally external decay to the waveguide, in contrast to that induced by the non-Markovian retardation effect. We also consider the non-Markovian retardation effect on the scattering spectra, which allows for a photonic band gap even with only two chiral coupling points. Two interacting Rydberg atoms coupled to a waveguide realize a giant-atom platform that exhibits the controllable (phase-dependent) chirality where the direction of nonreciprocal photon scattering can be switched on demand, e.g., by the geometrical tuning of an external driving field. At variance with previous chiral setups, the simplified approach of our proposed platform arises from an optical implementation of the local phase difference between two coupling points of the Rydberg giant atom. Furthermore, employing two or more driving fields, this platform could also be used as a frequency converter with its efficiency exhibiting a strong asymmetry and being significantly enhanced via the chiral couplings. Our results suggest an extendable giant-atom platform that is both innovative and promising for chiral quantum optics and tunable frequency conversion in the optical domain.

We investigate the two-channel nonreciprocal scattering of a coherent atomic ensemble under the linear spatial Kramers-Kronig modulation, which has potential applications in chiral phase modulation and broadband coherent perfect/asymmetric absorber that yet is typically unavailable in conventional continuous atomic media. In the regime of electromagnetically induced transparency, we observe the direction-dependent (chiral) phase modulation, which may enrich the burgeoning chiral quantum optics and can be used for implementing photonic filters, unidirectional amplifiers, and coherent asymmetric absorbers. By simplifying the stringent generation condition of coherent perfect absorption (CPA), we demonstrate the possibility of realizing two-channel CPA with broadband and sharp edges. Our proposal may be used to design and integrate some all-optical functional devices at extremely low power levels for quantum information processing and optical communication networks.

Over decades, neuroscience has accumulated a wealth of research results in the text modality that can be used to explore cognitive processes. Meta-analysis is a typical method that successfully establishes a link from text queries to brain activation maps using these research results, but it still relies on an ideal query environment. In practical applications, text queries used for meta-analyses may encounter issues such as semantic redundancy and ambiguity, resulting in an inaccurate mapping to brain images. On the other hand, large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT have shown great potential in tasks such as context understanding and reasoning, displaying a high degree of consistency with human natural language. Hence, LLMs could improve the connection between text modality and neuroscience, resolving existing challenges of meta-analyses. In this study, we propose a method called Chat2Brain that combines LLMs to basic text-2-image model, known as Text2Brain, to map open-ended semantic queries to brain activation maps in data-scarce and complex query environments. By utilizing the understanding and reasoning capabilities of LLMs, the performance of the mapping model is optimized by transferring text queries to semantic queries. Giant emitters derive their name from nonlocal field-emitter interactions and feature diverse self-interference effects. Most of the existing works on giant emitters have considered Hermitian waveguides or photonic lattices. In this work, we unveil how giant emitters behave if they are coupled to a non-Hermitian bath, i.e., a Hatano-Nelson (HN) model which features a non-Hermitian skin effect due to the asymmetric inter-site tunneling rates. We show that the behaviors of the giant emitters are closely related to the stability of the bath. In the convectively unstable regime, where the HN model can be mapped to a pseudo-Hermitian lattice, a giant emitter can either behave as in a Hermitian bath or undergo excitation amplification, depending on the relative strength of different emitter-bath coupling paths. Based on this mechanism, we can realize protected nonreciprocal interactions between giant emitters, with nonreciprocity opposite to that of the bath. Such giant-emitter effects are not allowed, however, if the HN model enters the absolutely unstable regime, where the coupled emitters always show secular energy growth. Frequency up-conversion, enabled by molecular optomechanical coupling, has recently emerged as a promising approach for converting infrared signals into the visible range through quantum coherent conversion of signals. However, detecting these converted signals poses a significant challenge due to their inherently weak signal intensity. In this work, we propose an amplification mechanism capable of enhancing the signal intensity by a factor of 1000 or more for the frequency up-converted infrared signal in a molecular optomechanical system. The mechanism takes advantage of the strong coupling enhancement with molecular collective mode and Stokes sideband pump. Giant atoms are attracting interest as an emerging paradigm in the quantum optics of engineered waveguides. Here we propose to realize a synthetic giant atom working in the optical regime starting from a pair of interacting Rydberg atoms driven by a coherent field and coupled to a photonic crystal waveguide. Giant-atom effects can be observed as a phase-dependent decay of the double Rydberg excitation during the initial evolution of this atomic pair while (internal) atomic entanglement is exhibited at later times. Such an intriguing entanglement onset occurs in the presence of intrinsic atomic decay toward non-guided vacuum modes and is accompanied by an anti-bunching correlation of the emitted photons. The non-adiabatic geometric quantum computation (NGQC) has attracted a lot of attention for noise-resilient quantum control. However, previous implementations of NGQC require long evolution paths that make them more vulnerable to incoherent errors than their dynamical counterparts.In this work, we experimentally realize a universal short-path non-adiabatic geometric gate set (SPNGQC) with a 2-times shorter evolution path on a superconducting quantum processor. Characterizing with both quantum process tomography and randomized benchmarking methods, we report an average single-qubit gate fidelity of 99.86% and a two-qubit gate fidelity of 97.9%. Additionally, we demonstrate superior robustness of single-qubit SP-NGQC gate to Rabi frequency error in some certain parameter space by comparing their performance to those of the dynamical gates and the former NGQC gates., Comment: 15 pages, 11 figures

Rota-Baxter operators and more generally $\mathcal{O}$-operators play a crucial role in broad areas of mathematics and physics, such as integrable systems, the Yang-Baxter equation and pre-Lie algebras. The main objects of study in the paper are certain $\mathcal{O}$-operator morphisms on associative algebras. The cohomology theory of an associative $\mathcal{O}$-operator morphism is established. In development, we give the Cohomology Comparison Theorem of an $\mathcal{O}$-operator morphism, that is, the cohomology of an $\mathcal{O}$-operator morphism is isomorphic to the cohomology of an auxiliary $\mathcal{O}$-operator. As applications, we also study the Cohomology Comparison Theorem of a Rota-Baxter operator morphism (of weight zero) and an associative $r$-matrice weak morphism as a particular case of $\mathcal{O}$-operator morphisms.

The motivation of this paper is to construct a deformation theory of coderivations of coassociative coalgebras. We introduce a notion of a Coder pair, that is, a coassociative coalgebra with a coderivation. Then we define a proper corepresentation of a Coder pair and study the corresponding cohomology. Finally, we show that a Coder pair is rigid, provided that the second cohomology group is trivial and point out that a deformation of finite order is extensible to higher order deformations if the obstruction class, which is defined to be in the third cohomology group, is trivial., Comment: To appear in Communications in Algebra

We study in this paper the decay dynamics of a two-level giant atom, which is coupled to a quasi-one-dimensional sawtooth lattice exposed to uniform synthetic magnetic fluxes. In the case where the two sublattices have a large detuning, the giant atom is effectively coupled to a single-band structured bath with flux-controlled energy band and time-reversal symmetry. This feature significantly affects the decay dynamics of the giant atom as well as the propagation of the emitted photon. In particular, the giant atom can exhibit chiral spontaneous emission and allow for nonreciprocal delayed light, which are however unattainable by coupling a small atom to this lattice. Giant atoms with different frequencies can be designed to emit photons towards different directions and with different group velocities. We study enhanced sensing of optomechanically induced nonlinearity (OMIN) in a cavity-waveguide coupled system. The Hamiltonian of the system is anti-PT symmetric with the two involved cavities being dissipatively coupled via the waveguide. When a weak waveguide-mediated coherent coupling is introduced, the anti-PT symmetry may break down. However, we find a strong bistable response of the cavity intensity to the OMIN near the cavity resonance, benefiting from linewidth suppression caused by the vacuum induced coherence. The joint effect of optical bistability and the linewidth suppression is inaccessible by the anti-PT symmetric system involving only dissipative coupling. Due to that, the sensitivity is greatly enhanced by two orders of magnitude compared to that for the anti-PT symmetric model. Moreover, the sensitivity shows resistances to a reasonably large cavity decay and robustness to fluctuations in the cavity-waveguide detuning. Based on the integrated optomechanical cavity-waveguide systems, the scheme can be used for sensing different physical quantities related to the single-photon coupling strength, and has potential applications in high-precision measurements with physical systems involving Kerr-type nonlinearity., Comment: 9 pages, 5 figures

Giant atoms provide a promising platform for engineering decoherence-free interactions which is a major task in modern quantum technologies. Here we study systematically how to implement complex decoherence-free interactions among giant atoms resorting to periodic coupling modulations and suitable arrangements of coupling points. We demonstrate that the phase of the modulation, which is tunable in experiments, can be encoded into the decoherence-free interactions, and thus enables phase-dependent dynamics when the giant atoms constitute an effective closed loop. Giant atoms are known for the frequency-dependent spontaneous emission and associated interference effects. In this paper, we study the spontaneous emission dynamics of a two-level giant atom with dynamically modulated transition frequency. It is shown that the retarded feedback effect of the giant-atom system is greatly modified by a dynamical phase arising from the frequency modulation and the retardation effect itself. Interestingly, such a modification can in turn suppress the retarded feedback such that the giant atom behaves like a small one. By introducing an additional phase difference between the two atom-waveguide coupling paths, we also demonstrate the possibility of realizing chiral and tunable temporal profiles of the output fields. Quantum optics with giant atoms has provided a new paradigm to study photon scatterings. In this work, we investigate the nontrivial single-photon scattering properties of giant atoms being an effective platform to realize nonreciprocal and chiral quantum optics. For two-level giant atoms, we identify the condition for nonreciprocal transmission: the external atomic dissipation is further required other than the breaking of time-reversal symmetry by local coupling phases. Especially, in the non-Markovian regime, unconventional revival peaks periodically appear in the reflection spectrum. To explore more interesting scattering behaviors, we extend the two-level giant-atom system to {\Delta}-type and {\nabla}-type three-level giant atoms coupled to double waveguides with different physical mechanisms to realize nonreciprocal and chiral scatterings. Our proposed giant-atom structures have potential applications of high-efficiency targeted routers that can transport single photons to any desired port deterministically and circulators that can transport single photons between four ports in a cyclic way.

We study the decay dynamics of a two-level giant atom that is coupled to a waveguide with time-dependent coupling strengths. In the non-Markovian regime where the retardation effect cannot be ignored, we show that the dynamics of the atom depends on the atom-waveguide coupling strengths at an earlier time. This allows one to tailor the decay dynamics of the giant atom and even realize a stationary population revival with appropriate coupling modulations. Moreover, we demonstrate the possibility of simulating the quantum Zeno and quantum anti-Zeno effects in the giant-atom model with periodic coupling quenches. Quantum transport in a class of nonlinear extensions of the Rudner-Levitov model is numerically studied in this paper. We show that the quantization of the mean displacement, which embodies the quantum coherence and the topological characteristics of the model, is markedly modified by nonlinearities. Peculiar effects such as a "trivial-nontrivial" transition and unidirectional long-range quantum transport are observed. These phenomena can be understood on the basis of the dynamic behavior of the effective hopping terms, which are time and position dependent, containing contributions of both the linear and nonlinear couplings.d nonlinear couplings., Comment: 8 pages, 7 figures
