We analyze, considering the contribution of $P$-wave charmonia, lattice data for the $D \overline{D}$-$D_s \overline{D}_s$ coupled-channel and $D \overline{D}{}^\ast$ systems and search for hidden-charm states with $J^{PC}=0^{++}$, $1^{++}$, and $2^{++}$ quantum numbers. For $0^{++}$, the analysis reveals three poles in the $D\overline{D}$-$D_s \overline{D}_s$ coupled-channel amplitude, corresponding to three states. Two of these poles, located near the $D\overline{D}$ and $D_s \overline{D}_s$ thresholds, can be interpreted as mostly molecular states. A third pole above the $D_s \overline{D}_s$ threshold is originated from the $P$-wave $\chi_{c0}(2P)$ charmonium state. In the $1^{++}$ sector, we find two poles in the complex energy plane. The first one is related to the molecular $X(3872)$ state, with a compositeness exceeding $90\%$, while the second one, stemming from the $\chi_{c1}(2P)$ charmonium, appears above the $D\overline{D}{}^\ast$ threshold and it likely corresponds to the recently discovered $\chi_{c1}(4010)$ state. In the $2^{++}$ sector, we also report two poles and find that the dressed $\chi_{c2}(2P)$ is lighter than the $D^\ast\overline{D}{}^\ast$ molecular state, with the dynamics of the latter closely related to that of the heavy-quark spin-symmetry partner of the $X(3872)$., Comment: 23 pages, 15 figures

The low-energy $J/\psi N$ scattering is important for various reasons: it is related to the hidden-charm $P_c$ pentaquark states, provides insights into the role of gluons in nucleon structures, and is relevant to the $J/\psi$ properties in nuclear medium. The scattering can happen through two distinct mechanisms: the coupled-channel mechanism via open-charm meson-baryon intermediate states, and the soft-gluon exchange mechanism. We investigate the $J/\psi N$ $S$-wave scattering length through both mechanisms, and find that the soft-gluon exchange mechanism leads to a scattering length at least one order of magnitude larger than that from the coupled-channel mechanism and thus is the predominant one. The findings can be verified by lattice calculations and will enhance our understanding of the scattering processes breaking the Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka rule.

The validity range of the time-honored effective range expansion can be very limited due to the presence of a left-hand cut close to the two-particle threshold. Such a left-hand cut arises in the two-particle interaction involving a light particle exchange with a mass small or slightly heavier than the mass difference of the two particles, a scenario encountered in a wide range of systems. This can hinder a precise extraction of low-energy scattering observables and resonance poles. To address this issue, we propose a new parameterization for the low-energy scattering amplitude that accounts for the left-hand cut. The parameterization is like a Pad\'e approximation but with nonanalytic terms from the left-hand cut and can be regarded as an extension of the effective range expansion. It is ready to be applied to a broad class of scatterings and, in particular, should be invaluable in understanding various near-threshold hadron resonances. As byproducts, we also show that the parameterization can be used to extract the couplings of the exchanged particle to the scattering particles, and derive expressions for amplitude zeros caused by the interplay between the short- and long-range interactions., Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures

By solving the Lippmann-Schwinger equation, possible hadronic molecules in the $D^*\bar K$-$D\bar K^*$ coupled-channel system are investigated with the one-meson exchange potentials, where both vector and pseudoscalar mesons are considered as exchange particles. We find an S-wave virtual state with mass $M=2487$ MeV, and a resonance with $M=2759$ and width $\Gamma=18$ MeV. In the $D^* \bar K$ invariant mass distribution, the virtual state appears as a cusp at the $D^*\bar K$ threshold, while the resonance potentially manifests as a dip. In particular, we take into account the $D\bar K \pi$ three-body dynamics due to the on-shell pion exchange and the finite decay width for $\bar K^*$. Additionally, the SU(4) breaking effect in the coupling between charmed and light mesons is investigated in our work. Our results also indicate that the accurate measurement for the decay width of the $D\bar K^*$ resonance can help us to evaluate this effect in the future., Comment: 22 pages, 3 figures

We present a detailed study of the lowest-lying ${\frac{1}{2}}^-$ and ${\frac{3}{2}}^-$ $\Lambda_{Q}$ resonances both in the heavy quark (bottom and charm) and the strange sectors. We have paid special attention to the interplay between the constituent quark-model and chiral baryon-meson degrees of freedom, which are coupled using a unitarized scheme consistent with leading-order heavy quark symmetries. We show that the $\Lambda_b(5912)$ [$J^P=1/2^-$], $\Lambda_b(5920)$ [$J^P=3/2^-$] and the $\Lambda_c(2625)$ [$J^P=3/2^-$], and the $\Lambda(1520)$ [$J^P=3/2^-$] admitting larger breaking corrections, are heavy-quark spin-flavor siblings. They can be seen as dressed quark-model states with $\Sigma_{Q}^{(*)}\pi$ molecular components of the order of 30\%. The ${J^P=\frac{1}{2}}^-$ $\Lambda_c(2595)$ has, however, a higher molecular probability of at least $50$\%, and even values greater than 70\% can be easily accommodated. This is because it is located almost on top of the threshold of the $\Sigma_c\pi$ pair, which largely influences its properties. Although the light degrees of freedom in this resonance would be coupled to spin-parity $1^-$ as in the $\Lambda_b(5912)$, $\Lambda_b(5920)$ and $\Lambda_c(2625)$, the $\Lambda_c(2595)$ should not be considered as a heavy-quark spin-flavor partner of the former ones. We also show that the $\Lambda(1405)$ chiral two-pole pattern does not have analogs in the $\frac{1}{2}^-$ charmed and bottomed sectors, because the $ND^{(*)}$ and $N\overline{B}{}^{(*)} $ channels do not play for heavy quarks the decisive role that the $N \overline{K}$ does in the strange sector, and the notable influence of the bare quark-model states for the charm and bottom resonances. Finally, we predict the existence of two $\Lambda_b(6070)$ and two $\Lambda_c(2765)$ heavy-quark spin and flavor sibling odd parity states., Comment: 41 pages, 13 figures, and 7 tables

Hidden-charm exotic hadrons will be searched for and investigated at future electron-ion colliders. For instance, the $X(3872)$ can be produced through the exclusive process $\gamma p\to X(3872)p$. The vector meson dominance model has been commonly employed in estimating the cross sections of such processes. However, the coupled-channel production mechanism through open-charm meson-baryon intermediate states may play a crucial role. To assess the significance of such contributions, we estimate the cross section of the $\gamma p\to X(3872)p$ reaction assuming the coupled-channel mechanism. For energies near the threshold, the total cross section is predicted to be of tens of nanobarns for $\gamma p\to X(3872)p$, which can be measured at future experimental facilities. Furthermore, the open-charm coupled-channel mechanism leads to a distinct line shape of the total cross section that can be utilized to reveal the production dynamics., Comment: 34 pages, 5 figures, version accepted by JPG

We perform a unified description of the experimental data of the $\pi^+\pi^-$ and $J/\psi\pi^\pm$ invariant mass spectra for $e^+e^- \rightarrow J/\psi \pi^+\pi^-$ and the $D^0 D^{\ast-}$ mass spectrum for $e^+e^- \rightarrow D^0 D^{\ast-} \pi^+$ at $e^+e^-$ center-of-mass energies 4.23 and 4.26 GeV. The analysis takes into account open-charm meson loops that contain triangle singularities, the $J/\psi\pi$-$D\bar D^*$ coupled-channel interaction respecting unitarity, and the strong $\pi\pi$-$K\bar K$ final state interaction using dispersion relations. The analysis leads to a precise determination of the $Z_c(3900)$ pole with the pole mass and width $(3880.7 \pm 1.7_\text{stat}\pm 22.4_\text{syst})$ MeV and $(35.9 \pm 1.4_\text{stat}\pm 15.3_\text{syst})$ MeV, respectively, and hints at that the $D\bar D^*$ molecular and non-molecular components are of similar importance in the $Z_c(3900)$ formation., Comment: 15 pages, 4 figures, systematic uncertainties provided, more discussions added. Motivated by the recent observation of $T_{c\bar{s}0}(2900)^0$ and $T_{c\bar{s}0}(2900)^{++}$ in the $D_s \pi$ invariant mass distributions, we investigate $D^{\ast}K^{\ast}$ interactions in a coupled-channel approach. We show that the relativistic corrections could be significant for the energy far away from the threshold. Within the hidden local symmetry formalism, a sizable attraction interaction is found in the $J=0$ isospin triplet sector that can form a bound or a virtual state, which is consistent with the experimentally observed $T_{c\bar{s}0}(2900)$. By reproducing a $D_s^*\rho$-$D^*K^*$ bound/virtual state with the pole mass equal to that of the $T_{c\bar{s}0}(2900)$ measured by LHCb in the sector $(I,J)=(1,0)$, we determine the unknown parameter in the loop function, and then search for possible poles in the sectors of $I=1$, $J=1,$ 2 and $I=0$, $J=0$, 1, 2. The predicted resonances provide a useful reference for the future experimental studies of the $(C,S)=(1,1)$ systems and can be also helpful to unravel the nature of the $T_{c\bar{s}0}(2900)$.10, Comment: 10 pages, 6 figures, 3 tables

We discuss recent lattice data for the $T_{cc}(3875)^+$ state to stress, for the first time, a potentially strong impact of left-hand cuts from the one-pion exchange on the pole extraction for near-threshold exotic states. In particular, if the left-hand cut is located close to the two-particle threshold, which happens naturally in the $DD^*$ system for the pion mass exceeding its physical value, the effective-range expansion is valid only in a very limited energy range up to the cut and as such is of little use to reliably extract the poles. Then, an accurate extraction of the pole locations requires the one-pion exchange to be implemented explicitly into the scattering amplitudes. Recently, the CMS and ATLAS collaborations have reported their $J/\psi J/\psi $ and $J/\psi \psi^\prime$ invariant mass distributions, respectively, for searching for fully charmed tetraquarks. Both of them reported the existence of a peak structure around $7.2~\gev$. In this article, we exhibit the role of the $\eta_c(2S)\eta_c(2S)$ channel, which is close to this peak position, by studying the $J/\psi J/\psi $ and $J/\psi \psi^\prime$ invariant mass distributions for the potential quantum numbers $J^{PC}=0^{++}$ or $2^{++}$ by considering both the coherence and incoherence with the background contribution. All these frameworks can describe the experimental data very well, however with different pole structures. For instance, in the case of $2^{++}$ description of these structures, there always exists a pole slightly below the $J/\psi J/\psi$ threshold. For the $0^{++}$ case, a similar pole can also be found below the $J/\psi J/\psi$ threshold however with a much lower mass. More importantly, the number of the poles is found to be case-dependent. For the $0^{++}$ ($2^{++}$) case, the peak structure around $7.2~\gev$ can (cannot) be produced due to the presence (absence) of the $\eta_c(2S)\eta_c(2S)$ channel. Although the pole positions are case-dependent, the relation between the peak structure in the $J/\psi J/\psi$ invariant mass distribution and the dip structure in the $J/\psi \psi^\prime$ invariant mass distribution around $7.2~\gev$ is unambiguous. We suggest experimentalists to detailed scan both the $J/\psi J/\psi$ and the $J/\psi \psi^\prime$ invariant mass distributions, especially around $7.2~\gev$ to probe the nature of the third fully charmed state., Comment: 15 pages, 5 figures; accepted by Science Bulletin

We propose that the $X(3915)$ observed in the $J/\psi\,\omega$ channel is the same state as the $\chi_{c2}(3930)$, and the $X(3960)$, observed in the $D_s^+D_s^-$ channel, is an $S$-wave $D_s^+ D_s^-$ hadronic molecule. In addition, the $J^{PC}=0^{++}$ {component in the $B^+\to D^+D^-K^+$} assigned to the $X(3915)$ in the current {\it Review of Particle Physics} has the same origin as the $X(3960)$, which has a mass around 3.94~GeV. To check the proposal, the available data in the $D\bar D$ and $D_s^+ D_s^-$ channels from both $ B$ decays and $\gamma\gamma$ fusion reaction are analyzed considering both the $D\bar D$-$D_s\bar D_s$-$D^*\bar D^*$-$D_s^*\bar D_s^*$ coupled channels with $0^{++}$ and a $2^{++}$ state introduced additionally. It is found that all the data in different processes can be simultaneously well reproduced, and the coupled-channel dynamics produce four hidden-charm scalar molecular states with masses around 3.73, 3.94, 3.99 and 4.23~GeV, respectively. We benefit from a recent lattice determination of the full set of vector, axial and tensor form factors for the $\Lambda_b\to \Lambda^*_c(2595)\tau\bar\nu_\tau$ and $\Lambda^*_c(2625)\tau\bar\nu_\tau$ semileptonic decays to study the possible role of these two reactions in lepton flavor universality violation studies. Using an effective theory approach, we analyze different observables that can be accessed through the visible kinematics of the charged particles produced in the tau decay, for which we consider the $\pi^-\nu_\tau,\rho^-\nu_\tau$ and $\mu^-\bar\nu_\mu\nu_\tau$ channels. We compare the results obtained in the Standard Model and other schemes containing new physics (NP) interactions, with either left-handed or right-handed neutrino operators. We find a discriminating power between models similar to the one of the $\Lambda_b\to \Lambda_c$ decay, although somewhat hindered in this case by the larger errors of the $\Lambda_b\to\Lambda^*_c$ lattice form factors. Notwithstanding this, the analysis of these reactions is already able to discriminate between some of the NP scenarios and its potentiality will certainly improve when more precise form factors are available., Comment: 27 latex pages, 6 figures, 1 table. Recently, the LHCb Collaboration reported a near-threshold enhancement, $X(3960)$, in the $D_s^+D_s^-$ invariant mass distribution. We show that the data can be well described by either a bound or a virtual state below the $D_s^+D_s^-$ threshold. The mass given by the pole position is $(3928\pm3)$ MeV. Using this mass and the existing information on the $X(3872)$ and $Z_c(3900)$ resonances, a complete spectrum of the $S$-wave hadronic molecules formed by a pair of ground state charmed and anticharmed mesons is established. Thus, pole positions of the partners of the $X(3872)$, $Z_c(3900)$ and the newly observed $D_s^+D_s^-$ state are predicted. Calculations have been carried out at the leading order of nonrelativistic effective field theory and considering both heavy quark spin and light flavor SU(3) symmetries, though conservative errors from the breaking of these symmetries are provided., Comment: 19 pages, 4 figures and 5 tables. We use a $\mathcal{O}(\Lambda_\text{QCD}/m_c)$ heavy quark effective theory scheme, where only $\mathcal{O}(\Lambda_\text{QCD}/m_b)$ and perturbative QCD short distance corrections are neglected, to study the matrix elements of the scalar, pseudoscalar, vector, axial-vector and tensor currents between the $\Lambda_b$ ground state and the odd parity charm $\Lambda_c(2595)^+$ and $\Lambda_c(2625)^+$ resonances. We show that in the near-zero recoil regime, the scheme describes reasonably well, taking into account uncertainties, the results for the 24 form-factors obtained in lattice QCD (LQCD) just in terms of only 4 Isgur-Wise (IW) functions. We also find some support for the possibility that the $\Lambda_c(2595)^+$ and $\Lambda_c(2625)^+$ resonances might form a heavy-quark spin symmetry (HQSS) doublet. However, we argue that the available LQCD description of these two resonances is not accurate enough to disentangle the possible effects of the $\Sigma_c \pi$ and $\Sigma_c^*\pi$ thresholds, located only a few MeV above their position, and that it cannot be ruled out that these states are not HQSS partners. Finally, we study the ratio $\frac{d\Gamma[\Lambda_b\to \Lambda_{c,1/2^-}^* \ell \bar\nu_\ell]/dq^2}{d\Gamma[\Lambda_b\to \Lambda_{c,3/2^-}^*\ell \bar\nu_\ell]/dq^2}$ of the Standard Model differential semileptonic decay widths, with $q^\mu$ the momentum transferred between the initial and final hadrons. We provide a natural explanation for the existence of large deviations, near the zero recoil, of this ratio from 1/2 (value predicted in the infinite heavy quark mass limit, assuming that the $\Lambda_{c,1/2^-}^*$ and $\Lambda_{c,3/2^-}^*$ are the two members of a HQSS doublet) based on S-wave contributions to the $\Lambda_b\to \Lambda_{c,1/2^-}^*$ decay amplitude driven by a sub-leading IW function., Comment: 26 pages, 8 figures

We have performed a combined analysis of the BESIII data for both the $Z_c(3900)$ and $Z_{cs}(3985)$ structures, assuming that the latter is an SU(3) flavor partner of the former one. We have improved on the previous analysis of Albaladejo $et$ $al.$ [Phys. Lett. B 755, 337 (2016)] by computing the amplitude for the $D_1\bar{D}D^*$ triangle diagram considering both $D$ and $S$-wave $D_1D^*\pi$ couplings. We have also investigated effects from SU(3) light-flavor violations, which are found to be moderate and of the order of 20%. The successful reproduction of the BESIII spectra, in both the hidden-charm and hidden-charm strange sectors, strongly supports that the $Z_{cs}(3985)$ and $Z_c(3900)$ are SU(3) flavor partners placed in the same octet multiplet. The best results are obtained when an energy-dependent term in the diagonal $D^{(*)}\bar D_{(s)}^{(*)}$ interaction is included, leading to resonances (poles above the thresholds) to describe these exotic states. We have also made predictions for the isovector $Z_{c}^*$ and isodoublet $Z_{cs}^*$, $D^*\bar{D}^*$ and $D^*\bar{D}_{s}^*$ molecules, with $J^{PC}=1^{+-}$ and $J^{P}=1^{+}$, respectively. These states would be heavy-quark spin symmetry partners of the $Z_{c}$ and $Z_{cs}$. Besides the determination of the masses and widths of the $Z_c(3900)$ and $Z_{cs}(3985)$, we also predict those of the $Z_c^*$ and $Z_{cs}^*$ resonances., Comment: 27 pages, 9 figures, and 4 tables, version published in physical review D

A coupled-channel approach including the $\Lambda_c\bar{D}^{(*)}$ and $\eta_c p$ channels in addition to the $\Sigma_c^{(*)}\bar{D}^{(*)}$ and $J/\psi p$ channels, as required by unitarity and heavy quark spin symmetry (HQSS), is applied to the hidden-charm pentaquark $P_c$ states, i.e., $P_c(4312)$, $P_c(4440)$ and $P_c(4457)$, discovered by LHCb Collaboration. It is demonstrated that to obtain cutoff independent results, the one-pion exchange potential in the multichannel systems is to be supplemented with next-leading order counter terms responsible for the $S$-wave-to-$D$-wave transitions. We show that the experimental data for the $J/\psi p$ mass distributions are fully in line with the $\Sigma_c\bar{D}$ and $\Sigma_c\bar{D}^*$ hadronic molecular interpretation of the $P_c(4312)$ and $P_c(4440)/P_c(4457)$, respectively. A narrow $\Sigma_c^*\bar{D}$ molecule around 4.38 GeV is required by the HQSS with the evidence for its existence seen in the $J/\psi p$ spectrum. A coupled-channel approach is applied to the charged tetraquark state $T_{cc}^+$ recently discovered by the LHCb Collaboration. The parameters of the interaction are fixed by a fit to the observed line shape in the three-body $D^0D^0\pi^+$ channel. Special attention is paid to the three-body dynamics in the $T_{cc}^+$ due to the finite life time of the $D^*$. An approach to the $T_{cc}^+$ is argued to be self-consistent only if both manifestations of the three-body dynamics, the pion exchange between the $D$ and $D^*$ mesons and the finite $D^*$ width, are taken into account simultaneously to ensure that three-body unitarity is preserved. This is especially important to precisely extract the pole position in the complex energy plane whose imaginary part is very sensitive to the details of the coupled-channel scheme employed. The $D^0D^0$ and $D^0D^+$ invariant mass distributions, predicted based on this analysis, are in good agreement with the LHCb data. The low-energy expansion of the $D^*D$ scattering amplitude is performed and the low-energy constants (the scattering length and effective range) are extracted. The compositeness parameter of the $T_{cc}^+$ is found to be close to unity, which implies that the $T_{cc}^+$ is a hadronic molecule generated by the interactions in the $D^{*+}D^0$ and $D^{*0}D^+$ channels. Employing heavy-quark spin symmetry, an isoscalar $D^*D^*$ molecular partner of the $T_{cc}^+$ with $J^P=1^+$ is predicted under the assumption that the $ DD^*$-$D^*D^*$ coupled-channel effects can be neglected., Comment: 28 pages, 8 figures. We discuss some general features of the effective range expansion, the content of its parameters with respect to the nature of the pertinent near-threshold states and the necessary modifications in the presence of coupled channels, isospin violations and unstable constituents. As illustrative examples, we analyse the properties of the $\chi_{c1}(3872)$ and $T_{cc}^+$ states supporting the claim that these exotic states have a predominantly molecular nature., Comment: 15 pages, 1 figure

We study the nature of the recently observed $P_{cs}(4459)$ by the LHCb collaboration by employing three methods based on the elastic effective-range expansion and the resulting size of the effective-range, the saturation of the compositeness relation and width of the resonance, and a direct fit to data involving the channels $J/\psi\Lambda$, $\Xi'_c\bar{D}$ and $\Xi_c\bar{D}^*$. We have also considered the addition of a CDD pole but this scenario can be discarded. Our different analyses clearly indicate the molecular nature of the $P_{cs}(4459)$ with a clear $\Xi_c\bar{D}^*$ dominant component. In relation with heavy-quark-spin symmetry our results also favor the actual existence of two resonances with $J=1/2$ (the lighter one) and $3/2$ (the heavier one) in the energy region of the $P_{cs}(4459)$. In the scenario of two-resonance for the $P_{cs}(4459)$, the inclusion of the $\Xi_c'\bar{D}$ channel is required for the their mass splitting and it allows one to determine the spin structures of the two resonances., Comment: 23 pages, 1 figure

Motivated by the observation of the first hidden charm pentaquarks by the LHCb collaboration in 2015 and the updated analysis with an order-of-magnitude larger data set in 2019, we estimate their cross sections for the prompt production as well as their heavy quark spin partners, in the $\Sigma_c^{(*)}\bar{D}^{(*)}$ hadronic molecular picture, at the center-of-mass energy $7~\mathrm{TeV}$ in the $pp$ collision. Their cross sections are several $\mathrm{nb}$ and we would expect several tens hidden charm pentaquark events in the LHC based on its current integrated luminosity. The cross sections show a sizable deviation of the cross sections for hidden charm pentaquarks with the third isospin component $I_z=+\frac{1}{2}$ ($P_c^+$) from those with $I_z=-\frac{1}{2}$ ($P_c^0$). The cross sections decrease dramatically with the increasing transverse momentum. Our study can also tell where to search for the missing hidden charm pentaquarks. The confirmation of the complete hidden charm pentaquarks in the heavy quark symmetry would further verify their $\Sigma_c^{(*)}\bar{D}^{(*)}$ molecular interpretation. In addition, the relative strength among these cross sections for pentaquarks can help us to identify the quantum numbers of the $P_c(4440)$ and $P_c(4457)$., Comment: Accepted by EPJC

The nature of the three narrow $P_c$ states, i.e., $P_c(4312)$, $P_c(4440)$ and $P_c(4457)$, is under intense discussion since their discovery from the updated analysis by LHCb. In this work we extend our previous coupled-channel approach [Phys. Rev. Lett. \bf{124}, 072001 (2020)] by including the $\Lambda_c\bar{D}^{(*)}$ and $\eta_cp$ as explicitly in addition to the $J/\psi p$, as required by unitarity and heavy quark spin symmetry (HQSS). Since inelastic parameters are very badly constrained by the current data, three schemes are considered: (a) scheme I with pure contact interactions and without the $\Lambda_c\bar D^{(*)}$ interactions, (b) scheme II, where the one-pion exchange is added to scheme I, and (c) scheme III, where the $\Lambda_c \bar D^{(*)}$ are included in addition. It is shown that to obtain cutoff independent results, OPE in the multichannel system is to be supplemented with $S$-$D$ mixing contact terms. We demonstrate that the experimental data for the $J/\psi p$ invariant mass distribution are consistent with the interpretation of the $P_c(4312)$ and $P_c(4440)/P_c(4457)$ as $\Sigma_c\bar{D}$ and $\Sigma_c \bar{D}^{*}$ hadronic molecules, respectively, and that the data show clear evidence for a new narrow $P_c(4380)$, as a $\Sigma_c^*\bar D$ molecule, which should exist as a consequence of HQSS. While two equally good solutions are found in scheme I, only one of these solutions with the quantum numbers of the $P_c(4440)$ and $P_c(4457)$ being $J^P=3/2^-$ and $1/2^-$, respectively, survives the requirement of regulator independence once the OPE is included. Moreover, we predict the line shapes in the elastic and inelastic channels and demonstrate that those related to the $P_c(4440)$ and the $P_c(4457)$ in the corresponding $\Sigma_c^{(*)}\bar{D}$ and $\eta_cp$ mass distributions allow one to confirm the quantum numbers given above, once the data are available., Comment: 57 pages, 14 figures, and 13 tables

The lightest charmed scalar meson is known as the $D_0^*(2300)$, which is one of the earliest new hadron resonances observed at modern $B$ factories. We show here that the parameters assigned to the lightest scalar $D$-meson are in conflict with the precise LHCb data of the decay $B^-\to D^+ \pi^- \pi^-$. On the contrary, these data can be well described by an unitarized chiral amplitude containing a much lighter charmed scalar meson, the $D_0^*(2100)$. We also extract the low-energy $S$-wave $D\pi$ phase of the decay $B^-\to D^+ \pi^- \pi^-$ from the data in a model-independent way, and show that its difference from the $D\pi$ scattering phase shift can be traced back to an intermediate $\rho^-$ exchange. Our work highlights that an analysis of data consistent with chiral symmetry, unitarity, and analyticity is mandatory in order to extract the properties of the ground-state scalar mesons in the singly heavy sector correctly, in analogy to the light scalar mesons $f_0(500)$ and $K_0^*(700)$., Comment: Note: Title slightly changed, version to appear in Phys. The photoproduction of the $J/\psi$ off the proton is believed to deepen our understanding of various physics issues. On the one hand, it is proposed to provide access to the origin of the proton mass, based on the QCD multipole expansion. On the other hand, it can be employed in a study of pentaquark states. The process is usually assumed to proceed through vector-meson dominance, that is the photon couples to a $J/\psi$ which rescatters with the proton to give the $J/\psi p$ final state. In this Letter, we provide a compelling hint for and propose measurements necessary to confirm a novel production mechanism via the $\Lambda_c \bar D^{(*)}$ intermediate states. In particular, there must be cusp structures at the $\Lambda_c \bar D^{(*)}$ thresholds in the energy dependence of the $J/\psi$ photoproduction cross section. The same mechanism also implies the $J/\psi$-nucleon scattering lengths of order 1 mfm. Given this, one expects only a minor contribution of charm quarks to the nucleon mass., Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures

At low energies, the strong interaction is governed by the Goldstone bosons associated with the spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking, which can be systematically described by chiral perturbation theory. In this paper, we apply this theory to study the $\theta$-vacuum energy density and hence the QCD axion potential up to next-to-leading order with $N$ non-degenerate quark masses. By setting $N=3$, we then derive the axion mass, self-coupling, topological susceptibility and the normalized fourth cumulant both analytically and numerically, taking the strong isospin breaking effects into account. Three hidden-charm pentaquark $P_c$ states, $P_c(4312)$, $P_c(4440)$, and $P_c(4457)$ were revealed in the $\Lambda_b^0\to J/\psi p K^-$ process measured by LHCb using both run I and run II data. Their nature is under lively discussion, and their quantum numbers have not been determined. We analyze the $J/\psi p$ invariant mass distributions under the assumption that the crossed-channel effects provide a smooth background. For the first time, such an analysis is performed employing a coupled-channel formalism with the scattering potential involving both one-pion exchange as well as short-range operators constrained by heavy quark spin symmetry. We find that the data can be well described in the hadronic molecular picture, which predicts seven $\Sigma_c^{(*)}\bar D^{(*)}$ molecular states in two spin multiplets, such that the $P_c(4312)$ is mainly a $\Sigma_c\bar D$ bound state with $J^P=1/2^-$, while $P_c(4440)$ and $P_c(4457)$ are $\Sigma_c\bar D^*$ bound states with quantum numbers $3/2^-$ and $1/2^-$, respectively. We also show that there is evidence for a narrow $\Sigma_c^*\bar D$ bound state in the data which we call $P_c(4380)$, different from the broad one reported by LHCb in 2015. With this state included, all predicted $\Sigma_c \bar D$, $\Sigma_c^* \bar D$, and $\Sigma_c \bar D^*$ hadronic molecules are seen in the data, while the missing three $\Sigma_c^*\bar D^*$ states are expected to be found in future runs of the LHC or in photoproduction experiments., Comment: 13 pages, version for publication

The chiral symmetry of QCD requires energy-dependent pionic strong interactions at low energies. This constraint, however, is not fulfilled by the usual Breit--Wigner parameterization of pionic resonances, leading to masses larger than the real ones. We derive relations between nonleptonic three-body decays of the $B$-meson into a $D$-meson and a pair of light pseudoscalar mesons based on SU(3) chiral symmetry. Employing effective field theory methods, we demonstrate that taking into account the final-state interactions, the experimental data of the decays $B^-\to D^+\pi^-\pi^-$, $B_s^0\to \bar{D}^0K^-\pi^+$, $B^0\to\bar{D}^0\pi^-\pi^+$, $B^-\to D^+\pi^-K^-$ and $B^0\to\bar{D}^0\pi^-K^+$ can all be described by the nonperturbative $\pi/\eta/K$-$D/D_s$ scattering amplitudes previously obtained from a combination of chiral effective field theory and lattice QCD calculations. The results provide a strong support of the scenario that the broad scalar charmed meson $D^\ast_0(2400)$ should be replaced by two states, the lower one of which has a mass of around 2.1 GeV, much smaller than that extracted from experimental data using a Breit--Wigner parameterization., Comment: 26 pages, 9 figueres

We study the scattering of a pseudoscalar meson off one ground state octet baryon in covariant baryon chiral perturbation theory (BChPT) up to the next-to-next-to-leading order. The inherent power counting breaking terms are removed within extended-on-mass-shell scheme. We perform the first combined study of the pion-nucleon and kaon-nucleon scattering data in covariant BChPT and show that it can provide a reasonable description of the experimental data. In addition, we find that it is possible to fit the experimental baryon masses and the pion-nucleon and kaon-nucleon scattering data simultaneously at this order, thus providing a consistent check on covariant BChPT. We compare the scattering lengths of all the pertinent channels with available experimental data and those of other approaches. In addition, we have studied the leading order contributions of the virtual decuplet and found that they can improve the description of the $\pi N$ phase shifts near the $\Delta(1232)$ peak, while they have negligible effects on the description of the $K N$ phase shifts., Comment: 48 pages, 14 figures

Many hadronic states observed since 2003, especially for the positive-parity charm-strange states $D_{s0}^\ast (2317)$ and $D_{s1}(2460)$, do not conform with the conventional quark model expectations and raise various puzzles in charm meson spectroscopy. We demonstrate that those puzzles find a natural solution thanks to the recent development of chiral effective theory and Lattice simulations. The existence of the $D_{s0}^\ast (2317)$ and $D_{s1}(2460)$ are attributed to the nonperturbative dynamics of Goldstone bosons scattering off $D$ and $D^\ast$ mesons. It indicates that the lowest positive parity nonstrange scalar charm mesons, the $D_0^\ast(2400)$ in the Review of Particel Physics, should be replaced by two states. The well constructed amplitudes are fully in line with the high quality data on the decays $B^-\to D^+\pi^-\pi^-$ and $D_s^0\to \bar{D}^0K^-\pi^+$. This implies that the lowest positve-parity states are dynamically generated rather than conventional quark-antiquark states. The $\rho\rho$ interaction and the corresponding dynamically generated bound states are revisited. We demonstrate that an improved unitarization method is necessary to study the pole structures of amplitudes outside the near-threshold region. In this work, we extend the study of the covariant $\rho\rho$ scattering in a unitarized chiral theory to the $S$-wave interactions for the whole vector-meson nonet. We demonstrate that there are unphysical left-hand cuts in the on-shell factorization approach of the Bethe-Salpeter equation. This is in conflict with the correct analytic behavior and makes the so-obtained poles, corresponding to possible bound states or resonances, unreliable. To avoid this difficulty, we employ the first iterated solution of the $N/D$ method and investigate the possible dynamically generated resonances from vector-vector interactions. A comparison with the results from the nonrelativistic calculation is provided as well., Comment: 24 pages, 12 figures

Since 2003 many new hadrons, including the lowest-lying positive-parity charm-strange mesons ${D_{s0}^*(2317)}$ and ${D_{s1}(2460)}$, were observed that do not conform with quark model expectations. It was recently demonstrated that various puzzles in the charm meson spectrum find a natural resolution, if the SU(3) multiplets for the lightest scalar and axial-vector states, amongst them the ${D_{s0}^*(2317)}$ and the ${D_{s1}(2460)}$, owe their existence to the nonperturbative dynamics of Goldstone-Boson scattering off $D_{(s)}$ and $D^*_{(s)}$ mesons. Most importantly the ordering of the lightest strange and nonstrange scalars becomes natural. In this work we demonstrate for the first time that this mechanism is strongly supported by the recent high quality data on the ${B^-\to D^+\pi^-\pi^- }$ provided by the LHCb experiment. This implies that the lowest quark-model positive-parity charm mesons, together with their bottom counterparts, if realized in nature, do not form the ground-state multiplet. This is similar to the pattern that has been established for the scalar mesons made from light up, down and strange quarks, where the lowest multiplet is considered to be made of states not described by the quark model. Chiral potentials are derived for the interactions between Goldstone bosons and pseudoscalar charmed mesons up to next-to-next-to-leading order in a covariant chiral effective field theory with explicit vector charmed-meson degrees of freedom. Using the extended-on-mass-shell scheme, we demonstrate that the ultraviolet divergences and the so-called power counting breaking terms can be properly absorbed by the low-energy constants of the chiral Lagrangians. We calculate the scattering lengths by unitarizing the one-loop potentials and fit them to the data extracted from lattice QCD. The obtained results are compared to the ones without an explicit contribution of vector charmed mesons given previously. It is found that the difference is negligible for $S$-wave scattering in the threshold region. This validates the use of $D^\ast$-less one-loop potentials in the study of the pertinent scattering lengths. We search for dynamically generated open-charm states with $J^P=0^+$ as poles of the $S$-matrix on various Riemann sheets. We investigate the numerical values of the low-energy constants in the chiral effective Lagrangian for the interactions between the charmed mesons and the lightest pseudoscalar mesons, the Goldstone bosons of the spontaneous breaking of chiral symmetry for QCD. This problem is tackled from two sides: estimates using the resonance exchange model, and positivity constraints from the general properties of the $S$-matrix including analyticity, crossing symmetry and unitarity. These estimates and constraints are compared with the values determined from fits to lattice data of the scattering lengths. Tensions are found, and possible reasons are discussed. We conclude that more data from lattice calculations and experiments are necessary to fix these constants better. As a by-product, we also estimate the coupling constant $g_{DDa_2}$, with $a_2$ the light tensor meson, via the QCD sum rule approach., Comment: 26 pages, 5 figures, 4 tables

When matter fields are included in chiral perturbation theory, the nonvanishing mass in the chiral limit introduces a new energy scale so that the loop diagrams including such matter field propagators spoil the usual power counting. However, the power counting breaking terms can be absorbed into counterterms in the chiral Lagrangian. In this paper, we systematically derive these terms to leading one-loop order (next-to-next-to leading order in the chiral expansion) at once by calculating the generating functional using the path integral. They are then absorbed by counterterms in the next-to-leading order Lagrangian. The method can be extended to calculating power counting breaking terms for other matter fields., Comment: 15 pages

$P$-wave coupled channel effects arising from the $D\bar{D}$, $D\bar{D}^*+c.c.$, and $D^*\bar{D}^*$ thresholds in $e^+e^-$ annihilations are systematically studied. We provide an exploratory study by solving the Lippmann-Schwinger equation with short-ranged contact potentials obtained in the heavy quark limit. These contact potentials can be extracted from the $P$-wave interactions in the $e^+e^-$ annihilations, and then be employed to investigate possible isosinglet $P$-wave hadronic molecules. In particular, such an investigation may provide information about exotic candidates with quantum numbers $J^{PC}=1^{-+}$. In the mass region of the $D\bar{D}$, $D\bar{D}^*+c.c.$, and $D^*\bar{D}^*$ thresholds, there are two quark model bare states, i.e. the $\psi(3770)$ and $\psi(4040)$, which are assigned as $(1^3D_1)$ and $(3^1S_1)$ states, respectively. By an overall fit of the cross sections of $e^+e^-\to D\bar{D}$, $D\bar{D}^*+c.c.$, $D^*\bar{D}^*$, we determine the physical coupling constants to each channel and extract the pole positions of the $\psi(3770)$ and $\psi(4040)$. The deviation of the ratios from that in the heavy quark spin symmetry (HQSS) limit reflects the HQSS breaking effect due to the mass splitting between the $D$ and the $D^*$. Besides the two poles, we also find a pole a few MeV above the $D\bar{D}^*+c.c.$ threshold which can be related to the so-called $G(3900)$ observed earlier by BABAR and Belle. This scenario can be further scrutinized by measuring the angular distribution in the $D^*\bar{D}^*$ channel with high luminosity experiments., Comment: 15 pages, 2 figures

We perform the leading one-loop renormalization of the chiral Lagrangian for spinless matter fields living in the fundamental representation of SU(N). The Lagrangian can also be applied to any theory with a spontaneous symmetry breaking of $SU(N)_L\times SU(N)_R$ to $SU(N)_V$ and spinless matter fields in the fundamental representation. For QCD, the matter fields can be kaons or pseudoscalar heavy mesons. Using the background field method and heat kernel expansion techniques, the divergences of the one-loop effective generating functional for correlation functions of single matter fields are calculated up to $\mathcal{O}(p^3)$. They are absorbed by counterterms not only from the third order but also from the second order chiral Lagrangian., Comment: 13 pages

We derive the scattering amplitude for Goldstone bosons of chiral symmetry off the pseudoscalar charmed mesons up to leading one-loop order in a covariant chiral effective field theory, using the so-called extended-on-mass-shell renormalization scheme. Then we use unitarized chiral perturbation theory to fit to the available lattice data of the S-wave scattering lengths. The lattice data are well described. However, most of the low-energy constants determined from the fit bear large uncertainties. We have used QCD sum rules to study the newly observed charged state $Z_c(4025)$ as a hidden-charm $D^*\bar D^*$ molecular state with the quantum numbers $I^G(J^{P})=1^+(1^{+})$. Using a $D^*\bar D^*$ molecular interpolating current, we have calculated the two-point correlation function and the spectral density up to dimension eight at leading order in $\alpha_s$. The extracted mass is $m_X=(4.04\pm0.24)$ GeV. This result is compatible with the observed mass of $Z_c(4025)$ within the errors, which implies a possible molecule interpretation of this new resonance. We also predict the mass of the corresponding hidden-bottom $B^*\bar B^*$ molecular state: $m_{Z_b}=(9.98\pm0.21)$ GeV., Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures. Version appears in Eur. Phys. J. C

After constructing the possible $J^P=0^-, 0^+, 1^-$ and $1^+$ $QQ\bar{q}\bar{q}$ tetraquark interpolating currents in a systematic way, we investigate the two-point correlation functions and extract the corresponding masses with the QCD sum rule approach. We study the $QQ\bar{q}\bar{q}$, $QQ\bar{q}\bar{s}$ and $QQ\bar{s}\bar{s}$ systems with various isospins $I=0, 1/2, 1$. Our numerical analysis indicates that the masses of doubly-bottomed tetraquark states are below the threshold of the two bottom mesons, two bottom baryons and one doubly bottomed baryon plus one anti-nucleon. Very probably these doubly-bottomed tetraquark states are stable., Comment: 37 pages, 2 figures

We study the possible exotic states with $J^{PC} = 0^{+-}$ using the tetraquark interpolating currents with the QCD sum rule approach. The extracted masses are around 4.85 GeV for the charmonium-like states and 11.25 GeV for the bottomomium-like states.
