AIM: To determine the patient-related risk factors for pain during phacoemulsification.METHODS: Retrospective case-control study. A total of 62 patients(62 eyes)diagnosed as cataract in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from December 2023 to January 2024 were included. The numeric rating scale was used to assess the pain level within 5 min postoperatively. The highest pain value was used as the primary outcome during the procedure. Based on pain values, patients were divided into pain group(n=25)and pain-free group(n=37). Subsequently, patients in the pain group were further divided into mild(n=16), moderate(n=7), and severe groups(n=2). Background Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) is an effective treatment for hematopoietic malignancies. Malnutrition is a common complication and negatively affects prognosis. Muscle mass has been shown to reflect the nutritional status of patients earlier than blood biochemical parameters such as albumin. However, the influence of pre-transplantation skeletal muscle mass (SMM) on the complications associated with early transplantation remains unclear. Objective To investigate the effect of pre-transplant SMM on the early outcomes of allo-HSCT, provide a clinical basis for nutritional interventions and prognosis improvement. Methods A study was conducted with 77 leukemia patients who underwent allo-HSCT at the Medical Center of Hematology, Xinqiao Hospital of Army Medical University from January to October 2022. Bioelectrical impedance analysis was used to assess skeletal muscle mass. The patients were divided into the normal SMM group of 36 cases and low SMM group of 41 cases according to their SMM. Baseline data, including personal and clinical details, were collected. Early post-transplant complications (within 30 days post-transplant) such as oral mucositis, gastrointestinal symptoms, infection and hematopoietic reconstitution time between the two groups were compared using SPSS 23.0 software. Results There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain/gastritis incidence between the normal and low SMM groups (P>0.05). The incidence rate of proximal gastric cancer in China and some Asian countries is increasing year by year. Surgery is the most effective and commonly used treatment for proximal gastric cancer. Traditional total gastrectomy has a good curative effect, but its complications, such as dystrophic metabolism and decreased quality of life, limited its use. In recent years, the proximal gastrectomy carried out clinically can remove tumor tissue and preserve part of gastric tissue, which is conducive to improving the postoperative nutritional status of patients. However, during proximal gastrectomy, the esophageal sphincter and His angle were damaged, resulting in residual gastric acid reflux and gastroesophageal reflux, resulting in reflux esophagitis, which also affected the quality of life of the patients. In order to solve these problems, surgeons have explored different digestive tract reconstruction methods. So far, many digestive tract reconstruction methods have been reported. This paper introduced the commonly used digestive tract reconstruction methods, and summarized the literature on postoperative quality of life and survival outcomes, so as to provide reference and choice for surgeons.

The long-term impact of eating duration on the risk of all-cause mortality remains unclear, with limited exploration of how different levels of energy intake and physical activity might influence this impact. To investigate, 24 484 American adults from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey spanning 1999–2018 were included. Eating duration was assessed via 24-h dietary recall, and all-cause mortality data were sourced from the National Death Index. The relationship between eating duration and all-cause mortality was analysed using Cox proportional hazards regression models, restricted cubic splines and stratification analysis with complex weighted designs. The median (IQR) of eating duration for participants was 12·5 (11·0, 14·0) h. In this study, 2896 death events were observed, and the median follow-up time (IQR) was 125 (77, 177) months. After multivariable adjustment, compared with Q1, Q2, Q3 and Q4 had reduced risks of all-cause mortality by 17, 15 and 13 %, respectively. Furthermore, each additional hour of eating duration was correlated with a 2 % decrease in the risk of all-cause mortality. Additionally, a non-linear dose–response relationship was observed between eating duration and the risk of all-cause mortality, showing a U -shaped relationship from 8·9 h to 15·3 h (P for non-linearity < 0·05). Interestingly, the non-linear dose–response relationship was observed exclusively among individuals with high energy intake or a lightly active physical activity level. These findings suggest potential health benefits from adjusting eating duration, though further prospective studies are needed for validation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

[Objective] Based on non-targeted metabolomics approach, the metabolites in cigar leaves before and after fermentation were identified and analyzed to provide basis for improving fermentation process of cigar leaves. [Method] Three high-quality cigar tobacco varieties of Chuanxue 3 (CX3), Haiyan 103 (HY103) and Qingxue 204 (QX204) were selected from the Hanzhong Tobacco District of Shaanxi. Ultra high performance liquid tandem chromatography quadrupole time of flight mass spectrometry (UHPLC-QTOF-MS) combined with principal component analysis (PCA) and orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA) and other multivanate statistical analysis was used for metabonomic analysis on leaves of three cigar varieties before and after fermentation. Differential metabolites in cigar leaves before and after fermentation were screened, and cluster analysis, significant difference metabolite screening and KEGG pathway analysis were performed. [Result] The contents of metabolites in CX3, HY103 and QX204 leaves before and after fermentation had significant differences, and 310,329 and 260 differential metabolites were screened, respectively. The metabolites were mainly classified into amino acids, peptides and analogues, organic acids, flavonoids, lipids and alkaloids. The identified differential metabolites were enriched in 74,74 and 65 KEGG pathways, respectively. Main metabolic pathways included phenylalanine, tyrosine and tryptophan biosynthesis, citrate cycle, ascorbate and aldarate metabolism, indole alkaloid biosynthesis, flavonoid biosynthesis, glycolysis/gluconeogenesis, glycerolipid metabolism, as well as fructose and mannose metabolism. [Conclusion] The metabolites of leaves of three cigar varieties before and after fermentation had certain differences. The first 20 differential metabolites were screened and identified, and 10 potential key metabolic pathways were obtained. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
