Concrete-filled steel tube (CFST) stiff skeleton concrete arch bridges can be designed with longer spans using balanced ring-casting construction. However, this construction method induces non-planar sectional stress in the arch rings. To investigate the influence of the non-planar sectional stress on the seismic performance of arch bridges, we developed two numerical models of a typical arch bridge. The first model simulates the construction process of balanced ring-casting, while the second model ignores the construction process. The dynamic analysis results reveal that, if the construction process is ignored, the seismic risks of concrete cracking and reinforcement yielding in the arch rings will be underestimated. Long-span suspension bridges are widely used in deep valleys, which face severe seismic risk. However, the potential saddle-cable frictional slippage under earthquake excitation as well as its influence on the seismic response of the whole suspension bridge has not yet been investigated. To investigate the effect of frictional slippage at the saddle-cable interface, this paper developed a nonlinear numerical model that considers the saddle-cable slippage. Another contrasting model with a non-slipping saddle-cable interface was used for quantitative comparison. Nonlinear dynamic analyses were conducted using these two models. The saddle-cable interfacial response indicated the realization of the frictional slippage at the saddle-cable interface under the maximum considered earthquake. The overall damage patterns, critical sectional performance, main girder drift, and energy dissipation were discussed in detail. Under the design based and maximum considered intensities, the saddle-cable slippage was seldom observed. The visible frictional slippage was encountered only at ultimate safety earthquake, which could be helpful to limit the transferred load, protect the pylon from yielding, and dissipate approximately 14% of the input seismic energy. Background: Hepatitis B virus X-interacting protein (HBXIP) is associated with a variety of tumors. The purpose of this study was to investigate the clinicopathological significance of HBXIP expression in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) and to explore its potential as a biomarker for PDAC., Methods: Immunohistochemical (IHC) staining was performed on 126 PDAC tissues, 36 paraneoplastic tissues and 22 normal pancreatic tissues. The relationship between high levels of HBXIP expression and pathological features of PDAC patients was evaluated by chi-squared values., Results: The positive rate of HBXIP protein in PDAC tissues was 85.7% (108/126), which was significantly higher than that of adjacent pancreatic tissue (41.7%, 15/36) and normal pancreas (18.2%, 4/22). In addition, strong positive expression of HBXIP was associated with tumor size, positive lymph node metastasis, clinical stage and 80-month overall survival. Patient's age, gender, degree of differentiation, Ki-67 expression index, and calcification were, however, not associated with high levels of HBXIP expression., Conclusions: We present association between HBXIP expression and the pathological features of patients with PDAC., (Copyright © 2018 Elsevier GmbH.
