Abstract

Abstract This article aims to analyze Michel Henry's denunciation of the dehumanization of work in modern culture. The pretension to extend the instrumental scientific vision to all dimensions of human life determines, among other consequences, the loss of the genuine meaning of work as a display, and manifestation of subjective life. The study is part of the phenomenology of transcendental subjectivity that Henry proposes, whose intellectual keys are the understanding of life as “auto-affection” and the theory of the body as the pathos of living flesh, the “I” as “subjective body”. The notion of body-appropriation and its implications regarding work are examined, as exposed in Barbarism (chapters 1 and 3) to guarantee the unity of body-land and convert work as an expression of the subjective body through the objective body, avoiding any risk of rupture between them. The reflection leads to the conclusion that although Henry provides a vision of work that responds to life in its phenomenological reality, it is worth questioning whether confining the individual to his own subjectivity guarantees the ability of the work as a means of personal fulfillment. The unity and complexity of the human being demand a deep understanding of his personal being and the permanent search for a unifying principle so that work can be appreciated as an expression of a being that not only works through his body, but is himself that body that lives, acts, and works.

Diferente a los pocos casos reportados no se encontró ninguna alteración vascular en la paciente.

The study also aimed to analyze factors associated with pain intensity and quality of life (QoL). Methods: A cross-sectional study was performed including 53 patients with pure CNP and 281 with pure PNP attending in 104 pain clinics in Spain. The revised grading system proposed in 2008 to determine a definite, probable or possible diagnosis of NP was used. Pain features, psychological variables and QoL were assessed. Descriptive, bivariate and multivariate analyses were performed. Results: The prevalence of pure CNP and PNP amongst neuropathic pain patients was 2.4% (95% CI: 1.7;3.1) and 12.9% (95% CI: 1.5;14.3), respectively. Comorbid anxiety, depression or sleep disorders were high in both groups, but higher in CNP patients (51.1%, 71.4%, respectively). Pain intensity in PNP patients was associated with the presence of depression and sleep disturbances. However, in CNP patients, it was related with pain in the lower limbs. The impairment of QoL was greater in CNP patients than in PNP patients; pain location, presence of depression and sleep disturbance were the factors that most negatively affected QoL. Among PNP patients, women and those with higher pain intensity had worse QoL. Conclusion: Pain intensity and QoL are affected by different factors in patients suffering from CNP or PNP. Identifying these factors could serve to guide therapeutic strategies and improve the QoL of patients. Novel species of fungi described in this study include those from various countries as follows: Argentina, Neocamarosporium halophilum in leaf spots of Atriplex undulata. Australia, Aschersonia merianiae on scale insect (Coccoidea), Curvularia huamulaniae isolated from air, Hevansia mainiae on dead spider, Ophiocordyceps poecilometigena on Poecilometis sp. Bolivia, Lecanora menthoides on sandstone, in open semi-desert montane areas, Sticta monlueckiorum corticolous in a forest, Trichonectria epimegalosporae on apothecia of corticolous Megalospora sulphurata var. sulphurata, Trichonectria puncteliae on the thallus of Punctelia borreri. Brazil, Catenomargarita pseudocercosporicola (incl. Catenomargarita gen. nov.) hyperparasitic on Pseudocercospora fijiensis on leaves of Musa acuminata, Tulasnella restingae on protocorms and roots of Epidendrum fulgens. In this work, through a review of the literature, we assessed several aspects of how CP influences the patient’s daily activities and quality of life, as well as its repercussions in the workplace, and on the family and social environment. Finally, the consequences of pain on the health care system are discussed. On the basis of the results, we concluded that in addition to the serious consequences on the patient’s life, CP has a severe detrimental effect on their social and family environment, as well as on health care services. Thus, we want to emphasize on the need to adopt a multidisciplinary approach to treatment so as to obtain more comprehensive improvements for patients in familial and social contexts. Abstract

El establecimiento del tipo penal de tentativa de homicidio exige a la investigación judicial aportar diferentes elementos probatorios. En este sentido, el informe técnico médico-legal de lesiones no fatales, realizado a solicitud de las autoridades, puede aportar valiosos conceptos médicos sobre la gravedad de las mismas, su localización y severidad. Sin embargo, hasta el momento no se han incorporado elementos determinantemente objetivos a partir de la ciencia médica forense para la valoración de la probabilidad que tenga una lesión para causar la muerte. En este artículo se revisan conceptos médico-legales y médicos en el contexto jurídico, que permitirían aportar una ponderación más estructurada de la probabilidad de causar la muerte de una lesión, fundamentalmente a partir de escalas médicas mundialmente reconocidas.

Abstract

RESUMEN Se describe el caso de una mujer con bocio multinodular en quien se practicó tiroidectomía total con monitoreo de nervio intraoperatorio, en quien se observó un nervio laríngeo no recurrente izquierdo confirmado por el dispositivo de monitoreo. Diferente a los pocos casos reportados no se encontró ninguna alteración vascular en la paciente. ABSTRACT A report of a female patient with multinodular goiter, on whom a total thyroidectomy under intra-operative nerve monitoring was performed, finding a left non-recurrent laryngeal nerve and confirmed with the use of the monitoring device. Different from the few cases reported, no vascular anomaly was found.

Abstract

This article is the 13th contribution in the Fungal Diversity Notes series, wherein 125 taxa from four phyla, ten classes, 31 orders, 69 families, 92 genera and three genera incertae sedis are treated, demonstrating worldwide and geographic distribution. Fungal taxa described and illustrated in the present study include three new genera, 69 new species, one new combination, one reference specimen and 51 new records on new hosts and new geographical distributions. Three new genera, Cylindrotorula (Torulaceae), Scolecoleotia (Leotiales genus incertae sedis) and Xenovaginatispora (Lindomycetaceae) are introduced based on distinct phylogenetic lineages and unique morphologies.
