Bismuth tungstate (Bi2WO6) is an aurivillius oxide with potential as a visible light-active photocatalyst. However, its wide band gap limits absorption of visible light. Decoration with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) has been shown to enhance photocatalytic properties. This study reports the hydrothermal synthesis of pure Bi2WO6 and Bi2WO6-MWCNT nanocomposites using a 1:2.5 molar ratio of Bi2WO6:MWCNTs. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy, and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy analysis were used to characterize the morphology, chemical bonding, and composition. Adding MWCNTs reduced particle size, increased surface area, and prevented aggregation. Antibacterial testing showed the Bi2WO6-MWCNT nanocomposite inhibited Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a multidrug-resistant bacterium, more effectively than pure Bi2WO6. Investigation of morphology and bonding revealed the influence of decorated and embedded MWCNTs on bismuth components and particle size. Enhanced antibacterial and anti-biofilm activity of the nanocomposite may be due to increased oxidative stress from reactive oxygen species generation. This facile hydrothermal method synthesizes a Bi2WO6-MWCNT nanocomposite combining the properties of both materials, showing promise for biomedical applications.

Cancer and bacterial infections are persistent nightmares for human health, which are now aggravated by the development of new types of cancer and pathogenic bacteria, as well as their resistance to prescribed drugs. To be part of a hopeful awakening, this work aimed to synthesize four novel skipped diene-3-halocoumarin conjugates coded SDC1-SDC4 and explore their biosafe functions as anticancer and antibacterial alternatives. In the first step of their synthesis, mequinol reacts with ethyl-2-haloacetoacetate through a H2SO4-catalyzed Pechmann reaction, yielding 3-halo-6-methoxy-4-methylcoumarins. The in situ-generated Vilsmeier-Haack reagent formylated these trifunctionalized coumarins to create their 7-carbaldehyde congeners. Finally, the target conjugates were prepared by condensing the latter compounds with 2,4-pentadione through the modified Claisen-Schmidt reaction. The molecular structures involving their stereochemistry were established for SDC1-SDC4 by analyzing their spectra released from FTIR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and HRMS. On the other hand, the anticancer and cytotoxicity of these conjugates were investigated against eight cancer and three healthy cell lines, respectively, using an MTT-probing technique. Four pathogenic and three commensal aerobes were the microbes utilized to evaluate the antibacterial and microbiota compatibility, respectively, employing a broth microdilution methodology. The results indicated that the conjugate with the highest anticancer attribute and lowest cytotoxicity was SDC1, while SDC2 demonstrated the greatest antibacterial attribute with minimal microbiota toxicity. These findings projected the influence of a 3-position substitute of the coumarin backbone on the biological activities under research. From these, it is concluded that the chemical structures of SDC1 and SDC2 may represent potent anticancer cytocompatible and antibacterial microbiota-compatible scaffolds, respectively.

The alterations in glyoxylate reductase and hydroxy-pyruvate reductase concentrations in the sera and the genetic alterations associated with calcium oxalate kidney stones in Iraqi patients were not studied previously so this study aimed to focus on these points. This study included 80 subjects; they were 50 patients with calcium oxalate stones compared to 30 apparently healthy controls. Biochemical investigations for kidney functions (creatinine, urea, and uric acid), were performed on the sera of both groups. Also, complete blood count, random blood sugar, and blood group tests. Furthermore, urine had been collected for General Urine Examination to visualize oxalate crystals in the urine of the patient. Also, the GRHPR enzyme concentration was measured by ELISA for both groups. The DNA was isolated from whole blood and the target DNA was amplified by PCR then the pathogenic mutations at c.295C>T (rs119490108), c.165G>A (rs180177314) and c.904C>T (p. Arg302Cys) rs180177322 were investigated by direct sequencing of the product, and then the results were analyzed. This study found that the concentration of the enzyme in the controls (4.78 ± 1.06 mg/dl) was significantly higher than its concentration in the patients (0.411 ± 0.02mg/dl). The pathogenic mutations were not found in both studied groups, but other positions were found polymorphic; at exon 4 the rs2768659 (A>G), rs1294628807 (G>A) and rs2736664 (C>T), at exon 6: c.579A>G (p. Ala193=) rs309458 and c.494-68A>G rs309459 and at exon 9 c.*146A>G rs1057507. In conclusion, this study found that calcium oxalate stones were associated with decrease GRHPR enzyme concentration in the patients compared to the control group which may be caused by mutations or epigenetics masking of the gene expression.

Fetal hypoxia is a condition characterized by a lack of oxygen supply in a developing fetus in the womb. It can cause potential risks, leading to abnormalities, birth defects, and even mortality. Cardiotocograph (CTG) monitoring is among the techniques that can detect any signs of fetal distress, including hypoxia. Due to the critical importance of interpreting the results of this test, it is essential to accompany these tests with the evolving available technology to classify cases of hypoxia into three cases: normal, suspicious, or pathological. Furthermore, Machine Learning (ML) is a blossoming technique constantly developing and aiding in medical studies, particularly fetal health prediction. Notwithstanding the past endeavors of health providers to detect hypoxia in fetuses, implementing ML and Deep Learning (DL) techniques ensures more timely and precise detection of fetal hypoxia by efficiently and accurately processing complex patterns in large datasets. Correspondingly, this review paper aims to explore the application of artificial intelligence models using cardiotocographic test data. The anticipated outcome of this review is to introduce guidance for future studies to enhance accuracy in detecting cases categorized within the suspicious class, an aspect that has encountered challenges in previous studies that holds significant implications for obstetricians in effectively monitoring fetal health and making informed decisions.

Abstract Pharmacogenetic (PGx)‐informed medication prescription is a cutting‐edge genomic application in contemporary medicine, offering the potential to overcome the conventional “trial‐and‐error” approach in drug prescription. The ability to use an individual's genetic profile to predict drug responses allows for personalized drug and dosage selection, thereby enhancing the safety and efficacy of treatments. However, despite significant scientific and clinical advancements in PGx, its integration into routine healthcare practices remains limited. To address this gap, the Qatar Genome Program (QGP) has embarked on an ambitious initiative known as QPGx‐CARES (Qatar Pharmacogenetics Clinical Applications and Research Enhancement Strategies), which aims to set a roadmap for optimizing PGx research and clinical implementation on a national scale. The goal of QPGx‐CARES initiative is to integrate PGx testing into clinical settings with the aim of improving patient health outcomes. In 2022, QGP initiated several implementation projects in various clinical settings. These projects aimed to evaluate the clinical utility of PGx testing, gather valuable insights into the effective dissemination of PGx data to healthcare professionals and patients, and identify the gaps and the challenges for wider adoption. QPGx‐CARES strategy aimed to integrate evidence‐based PGx findings into clinical practice, focusing on implementing PGx testing for cardiovascular medications, supported by robust scientific evidence. The current initiative sets a precedent for the nationwide implementation of precision medicine across diverse clinical domains.

This study presents a methodology for optimizing key parameters of a fused deposition modeling (FDM) printer to minimize energy consumption (EC) while exceeding a specified tensile strength (TS) threshold. Employing Design of Experiments (DoE) with Taguchi and Response Surface analysis, we identify influential parameters affecting TS and EC. A Mixed-Integer Nonlinear Multi-Objective Optimization model is then utilized to balance TS and EC, resulting in optimal parameter values. Validation using fabricated specimens demonstrates less than 5 % error in Tensile Strength and less than 2 % error in Energy Consumption, confirming the efficacy of the proposed methodology.

Recently, the increase in the emergence of fake videos that have a high degree of accuracy makes it difficult to distinguish from real ones. This is due to the rapid development of deep-learning techniques, especially Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN). The harmful nature of deepfakes urges immediate action to improve the detection of such videos. In this work, we proposed a new model to detect deepfakes based on a hybrid approach for feature extraction by using 128-identity features obtained from facenet_CNN combined with most powerful 10-PCA features. All these features are extracted from cropped faces of 10 frames for each video. FaceForensics++ (FF++) dataset was used to train and test the model, which gave a maximum test accuracy of 0.83, precision of 0.824 and recall value of 0.849.

Abstract Objective Estimate the prevalence, and associated risk factors, of high school students who are considered at risk for an eating disorder based on screening measures. Methods An electronic search of nine databases was completed from their inception until 1st September 2022. A random-effects meta-analysis was conducted, and confounder (moderator) analyses and meta-regressions examined whether the overall prevalence estimate for of screen-based disordered eating (SBDE) was moderated by student age, BMI, or gender, as well as culture and type of SBDE assessment. Results The mean estimate of the prevalence of SBDE among high school students (K = 42 (66 datapoints), N = 56282] in the sample of 25 countries was 13% ([95% CI] = 10.0–16.8%, I 2 = 99.0%, Cochran's Q p = 0.001). This effect was not moderated by features of the samples such as gender, BMI, or age. Among cultures, non-Western countries had a higher prevalence of SBDE prevalence than Western countries, but the difference was not significant. There was considerable variability in the prevalence estimates as a function of the assessment measure, but no meaningful pattern emerged. Conclusion The estimated figure of 1 in 8 high school students with SBDE—unmoderated by gender and BMI—stands out as a problem in need of attention from public health officials, psychologists, psychiatrists, pediatricians, parents, and educators. There is a great need for innovative, integrated policy and program development all along the spectrum of health promotion and universal, selective, and indicated prevention. Further research is also needed to validate and refine this estimate by (a) conducting basic research on the accuracy of eating disorder screening measurements in samples ages 14 through 17; (b) examining representative samples in more countries in general and Latin American countries in particular; (c) clarifying the relationships between SBDE and age throughout the different phases of late childhood, adolescence, and emerging adulthood; and (d) investigating whether there are meaningful forms of disordered eating and whether these are associated with variables such as gender, ethnicity, and BMI.

Kidney stone disease is a highly significant clinical issue that poses a serious threat to both global health and the economy. For the sustainability of good health and well-being of kidney stone patients, this study aimed to elucidate the role of the enzyme glyoxylate reductase and hydroxypyruvate reductase (GRHPR) in the formation of the kidney stones and their development. There are many different types of kidney stones, but calcium oxalate kidney stones are the most prevalent in Iraq. In this study, 50 Iraqi patients with calcium oxalate stones (25 males and 25 females) were compared to 30 healthy control groups (17 males and 13 females). The biochemical tests for kidney function, such as serum urea, creatinine, and uric acid, were detected in the sera of both study groups. In addition to fasting blood sugar (FBS), Ca++, Na+, complete blood count (CBC) and blood group tests, Urine was collected for General Urine Examination (GUE), to visualize oxalate crystals in the patient’s urine. Also, the relationship between the concentration of the enzymes glyoxylate reductase and hydroxypyruvate reductase (GRHPR) and the development of calcium oxalate kidney stones in Iraqi patients and the control group was examined. It was found that the enzyme concentrations in the control group were (4.78 ± 1.06 mg/dl) significantly higher than the enzyme concentration in the patients group (0.411 ± 0.02 mg/dl). Also, it was found , that the uric acid concentrations were within the normal range for both groups, but urea and creatinine were significantly higher in kidney stone patients, while they were at the normal ranges in the control group.

In recent years, Bi-based photocatalysts have begun to be applied in biological applications. However, the antibacterial ability of a Bi-based photocatalyst is still unclear. In this study, Bi2MoO6 and Bi2WO6 were successfully synthesized by a hydrothermal approach. The fabricated samples were characterized by X-Ray diffraction, FESEM, and UV-Vis spectra. Besides, the antibacterial activity of both photocatalyst samples toward E. coli as negative and S. aureus as positive pathogens were studied. Compared with antibacterial of Bi2WO6, the resultant Bi2MoO6 exhibited high susceptible S. aureus bacterial strain revealing large zones of 24 mm to 29 mm, while Bi2WO6 exhibited less susceptible of 17.5 mm to 21.5 mm as compared with the zone of inhibition against tested bacterial E. coli. Besides, a possible mechanism suggested the effect of nanosheet structure of samples to penetrate the cell membrane which results in leakage of interior cell and complete death and these results will provide some support for the applications of Bi2MoO6 and Bi2WO6 in antibacterial materials under common environments.

The increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) in education has raised questions about the implications of ChatGPT for teaching and learning. A systematic literature review was conducted to answer these questions, analyzing 112 scholarly articles to identify the potential benefits and challenges related to ChatGPT use in educational settings. The selection process was thorough to ensure a comprehensive analysis of the current academic discourse on AI tools in education. Our research sheds light on the significant impact of ChatGPT on improving student engagement and accessibility and the critical issues that need to be considered, including concerns about the quality and bias of generated responses, the risk of plagiarism, and the authenticity of educational content. The study aims to summarize the utilizations of ChatGPT in teaching and learning by addressing the identified benefits and challenges through targeted strategies. The authors outlined some recommendations that will ensure that the integration of ChatGPT into educational frameworks enhances learning outcomes while safeguarding academic standards.

Under simulated light irradiation, the aerobic oxidation of benzylamine to N,N-benzylidenebenzylamine was carried out as a model reaction to investigate the photocatalytic activity of a hydrothermally prepared composite based on BiOF and BiFeO3 materials. The prepared photocatalysts were characterized using several spectroscopic techniques, such as powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Band gap analysis showed that the composite exhibits a band gap that lies in the UV region (3.5 eV). Nonetheless, pristine BiOF and BiFeO3 exhibited band gaps of 3.8 eV and 2.15 eV, respectively. N,N-benzylidenebenzylamine was selectively achieved with a high conversion yield of ~80% under atmospheric conditions in which the product was confirmed using 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, and FTIR spectroscopic techniques. Various control experiments were conducted to further confirm the enhanced photocatalytic performance of the reported composite.

Northern Technical university in Iraq relied in their education on the course system, this system was characterized by some kind of difficulties. A questionnaire was distributed to professors, technicians, administrators, and students subject to the curriculum system as a secondary source for collecting data and information. The study found that NTU as a young and modern university has an infrastructure supported by an electronic educational administrative information system, It provides an integrated digital platform for teachers to participate extensively in lectures, courses, scientific and practical workshops, create interactive lessons, create assignments, tests and assessment through a solid and efficient platform that facilitated the student to complete his homework and duties in the time available to him by notifying them and informing them by sending an email that includes educational content and information and communication technology urged the university to continue with the course system. The study dealt with data analysis using structural equation modeling and the confirmatory factor analysis strategy as a means to measure the observational variables represented by the digitization axes, which in turn matched the measures of statistical analysis Amos.

Nanoplasmonic sensing, based on the plasmonic resonance absorption of thin, irregularly-shaped Au nanostructures film, with a starting thickness of about 15 nm (±3 nm) sputtered on a quartz substrate, is used to monitor the CeO2 NPs (with an average diameter of 50 nm) film refractive index variations using different film thicknesses (90 nm, 146 nm, 172 nm, and 196 nm). Increasing the film thickness of solution-processed CeO2 NPs film, with layer-by-layer deposition on top of Au nanostructures, shows a significant redshift in the plasmonic resonance absorption of the plasmonic metal, from 580 nm to 611 nm. Such an increase is related to the change in the building microstructure of the semiconductor’s film which is reflected in changing its refractive index. Plasmonic surface refractive index sensitivity of 437.5 nm/RIU with FOM of 4.2 has been recorded. Such a sensing technique offers a large potential for developing cost-effective plasmonic nanosensing devices for clinical applications. This sensor structure is versatile and can be utilized to sense and monitor a large variety of materials and chemicals.

Background: Occupational noise is an occupational risk factor that might affects the body system. Objective: A literature review research was implemented to review the published studies that reported relationships between occupational noise and cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). Materials and Methods: Three databases were searched. A total of eight articles were identified and included. Results: The results show that noise exposure and high noise levels were associated with an increased CVDs. Additionally, some environmental factors such as temperature imbalance, job strain as well as other social and individual risk factors influence the risk of CVDs. Conclusion: Evidence shows that occupational noise is a prominent risk factor for CVDs. Therefore, it is suggested that noise levels exposure should be reduced by personal and social protective equipment or revision measures.

Identifying the appropriate stakeholder is an integral part of the requirements engineering process and the primary factor influencing system success. The E-learning system is a significant platform with a variety of stakeholders that must be identified. After the launch of the E-learning system, issues such as identifying stakeholders arise and threaten the system's continuity. Moreover, the use of non-scientific and incompatible methods for identifying stakeholders, as well as the limitations of some of these methods, are among other issues that are highlighted in this research. This study investigates the issue of Stakeholder Identification (SI) in the E-learning system and identifies the most influential factors influencing this significant issue. By conducting a comprehensive literature review and employing qualitative data collection and analysis, these factors are addressed. There were 35 survey questionnaires were distributed to experts, analysts, and developers in the field of the E-learning system in Malaysia in 2022 to collect the data. The results reported in this paper demonstrated that there are difficulties in defining the actual stakeholders, as well as a lack of knowledge in employing the appropriate techniques to identify them, which were then analysed and compared to generate the list of factors. The factors identified in this paper help industries understand how critical it is to identify the actual stakeholders of an E-learning system at an early stage. Therefore, industries should be able to develop stable and reliable E-learning systems. This research provides several contributions, including crucial theoretical and practical insights into how E-learning systems are used and adopted. Contributes to the current literature by outlining the key obstacles caused by SI concerns. Identify the most significant components of SI issues, i.e., information quality, time and cost, system utility, and technology. Finally, this paper provides important recommendations for academics, developers, and regulators, allowing them to better understand the critical factors of effective E-learning system implementation.

Abstract Background Inappropriate use of antibiotics is a major contributing factor to the emergence of antimicrobial resistance globally, including in Sudan. Objectives The project aimed to develop a theory-driven behaviour change strategy addressing both prescribers and patients based on factors that are driving antibiotic use in primary healthcare settings in Gezira state in Sudan. Methods The strategy was designed based on the Theoretical Domains Framework (TDF) to identify behavioural domains and the Behaviour Change Wheel (BCW) to select appropriate intervention functions. The process included (1) a formative qualitative research study and (2) a knowledge co-production workshop that utilized the results of the qualitative study to design a salient, appropriate, and credible behaviour change strategy. Results The TDF domains related to prescribers that emerged from the study included knowledge, skills, and intention. The selected BCW intervention functions included education, training, modelling, and persuasion. The main TDF domains related to patients included social influences and intention. The selected BCW intervention functions included enablement and education. Conclusion Using the TDF and BCW intervention functions, the study identified behavioural domains that influence antibiotic prescription and consumption in rural primary healthcare settings in Gezira state in Sudan and appropriate intervention functions to modify these behaviours. Knowledge co-production ensured that the evidence-based strategy was acceptable and practical in the local context.

PurposeThis study aimed to assess preoperative predictors of visual outcome after phacoemulsification cataract surgery in Jordan, a Middle Eastern country.MethodsThis was a retrospective longitudinal study of adult patients who underwent phacoemulsification cataract surgery from January 2019 to July 2021. For each patient, we included only the first operated eye. We obtained pre-operative ocular history, cataract surgery complication risk based on a predesigned score, visual acuity, best correction, and best corrected visual acuity. We recorded intraoperative complications. We also obtained postoperative best corrected visual acuity and refractive error for correction after 1–3 months.ResultsA total of 1,370 patients were included in this study, with a mean age of 66.39 (± 9.48). 48.4% of patients achieved visual acuity ≥ 0.8, and 72.7% achieved visual acuity ≥ 0.5. The mean visual acuity improvement after phacoemulsification cataract surgery was 0.33 (95% CI 0.31–0.35). In the regression model, significant predictors that affected visual acuity improvement included the presence of diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and complication risk factors (i.e., high-risk surgery).ConclusionPredictors of visual acuity improvement vary between studies. This study was conducted in a developing country; we defined predictors of visual acuity improvement. We also provided a new preoperative phacoemulsification cataract surgery complication risk score.

Study purposeIt is important to understand the users' perceptions toward the use of smartwatches and the various factors that affect the adoption of smart watches. These findings would contribute to the literature in understanding users' usage, preferences, needs, and expectations about smartwatches that would aid smartwatches designers and also decision-makers in integrating the smartwatch technology in various service-enabled areas such a healthcare, e-learning etc. To address this gap, the objective of this study was formulated to understand the actual consumers' perceptions of toward the use of smartwatches and explore the critical factors affecting the adoption and intention to use smartwatches in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.MethodsA cross-sectional study was designed to assess the actual perception of use smartwatches and to investigate the influencing factors that affect the utilization among Saudi population using the survey technique. Questionnaire design was based on the domains of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to determine the factors affecting smartwatches utilization. The sample composed of Saudi Arabian residents aged 18 years and above. The response rate for the online questionnaire that was distributed through the social media applications was 58.61% representing 135 participants. The data was collected in November 2020 and analyzed using the Statistical Packages for Software Sciences (SPSS).ResultsThe prevalence of participants who had knowledge about smartwatch was 94.1%. When comparing the demographic characteristics between those owning and not owning a smartwatch, it was found that educational level (X2 = 9.365; p = 0.025) and knowledge about smartwatch (X2 = 7.897; p = 0.005) had significant relationship with owning a smartwatch. When comparing between design aesthetic, perceived usefulness, ease of use, enjoyment and healthology in relation to the socio demographic characteristics, it was found that respondents in the older age group (≥45 years) (F = 11.797; p

In the present study, the synthesized Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes (MWCNTs) were chemically treated with a mixture of acids to produce functionalized MWNTs. The functionalized MWCNTs were characterized by X-Ray Diffraction Analysis (XRD), Zeta potential and Field-Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM). The X-ray diffraction reveals the MWCNTs average crystal size of the R-MWCNTs and F-MWCNTs were about (3.27 and 3.19) nm, respectively. FESEM images show the formation of R-MWCNTs that appears as cylindrical tubes and aggregated tubes with each other, while the F-MWCNTs appear as less aggregated and tangled clusters than R-MWCNTs. Zeta potential measurements showed that the measurement of the R-MWCNT shows a low negative value -9 mV and F-MWCNT, it was found that the zeta potential value is up to -29 mV. The antibacterial activity was studied against E. coli and P. aeruginosa bacteria, and indicated the highest growth inhibition zones (IZ) of F-MWCNTs as compared with R- MWCNTs against E. coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, respectively.

In this research, raw multiwalled carbon nanotubes (R-MWCNT) was successfully functionalized using sulfuric acid and nitric acid. Then a hybrid (ZnO-MWCNT) synthesized by the sol-gel method where diethylene glycol was used as a solvent and stabilizer that works to prevent the accumulation of nanoparticles and reduces the viscosity of the solution. A group of diagnostic techniques, including XRD, UV-Vis, EDX and microscopy has recognized the structural and optical properties of the prepared nanoparticles. High Resolution Electronic Scanner (FE-SEM) was also used in the investigation. FE-SEM images showed the formation of the hybrid (ZnO-MWCNT) by the growth of spherical clusters on the surface of the cross-linked tubes (MWCNT). In addition, FE-SEM images confirmed the success of a ZnO-MWCNT hybrid. The emergence of spherical shapes deposited on cylindrical tubes and associated with a wrinkled surface was recognized. In addition, the particle size ratio increased. The UV-Vis spectra revealed that all the composites had good absorbency with a shift towards short wavelengths. While it was observed from the analysis of X-ray diffraction (XRD) the formation of a hexagonal wurtzite crystal structure due to zinc oxide with a polycrystalline nature. The average crystal size calculated from the Debye-spark equation increased with the increase in the concentration of the streaked material. Antibacterial activity was studied for all prepared samples against Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) at different μg/ml concentrations (500, 750, and 1000). It was observed that the highest inhibition Zone for functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes (F-MWCNT) and ZnO-MWCNT hybrid was (17.3, 12.3mm), (22.5, 19mm) for Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, respectively.

Neurogenesis occurs during the embryological development of the brain. However, it is universally accepted that in all adult mammalian brains, there are two sites of high-density cell division: the subventricular zone of the lateral ventricles (SVZ) and the subgranular zone (SGZ) of the dentate gyrus of the hippocampal formation. Doxorubicin (DOX) is an anthracycline agent which results in cognitive deterioration and memory impairment, whereas memantine (MEM) is an NMDA receptor antagonist which is approved for the treatment of Alzheimer’s dementia. Many studies have revealed MEM’s positive impact on memory and demonstrated that it stimulates neuronal division in the hippocampus. This study aimed to assess the effect of MEM on spatial memory and neural proliferation in the hippocampus in adult male rats treated with DOX. For this purpose, forty male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into four groups of ten rats each according to the agent: control, MEM (2.5 mg/kg), DOX (2 mg/kg), and DOX with MEM. The rats were given seven intraperitoneal injections every other day. We tracked the rat’s weights to assess the weight-reducing effects of the drugs. In order to test spatial memory, the rats were subjected to the novel location recognition (NLR) task 30 minutes after the last injection. Additionally, Ki67 immunohistochemistry was performed to examine hippocampal proliferation. The results showed a significant reduction in discrimination index (DI) in the DOX-treated group compared to MEM- (p < 0.001) and MEM with DOX-treated groups (p < 0.001). There was a significant increase in Ki67-positive cells in the MEM-treated group compared to the saline-treated group. Treatment with DOX impaired hippocampal proliferation compared to treatment with MEM or saline. The co-administration of MEM with DOX ameliorated the decline in hippocampal proliferation compared to treatment with DOX alone. There was a significant weight reduction in the DOX group in comparison to the control group, but MEM attenuated DOX-induced weight loss. Rats treated with DOX displayed a drop in memory, hippocampal proliferation, and weight compared to the MEM-treated group, whereas the co-administration of MEM with DOX protected memory, hippocampal proliferation, and doxorubicin-induced weight loss.

Abstract Background Depression, stress, and anxiety are common psychological conditions among dental students in many countries around the world. A number of researchers have found life coaching to be effective at reducing psychological distress. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of a life coaching program on dental students’ psychological status. Methods A quasi-experiment study with two arms was conducted on 88 female dental students at Umm Al-Qura University (study group = 44; control group = 44). The psychological status was assessed by questionnaire before and after intervention. The questionnaire was composed of the Depression and Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-21), Resilience Scale (RS-14), the Psychological Well-Being Scale–Short (PWB-S), and goal approach questions. The study group received a coaching program comprising one lecture for 1 h and five phone coaching sessions over 5 weeks, while the control group received no intervention. Results The study group showed a significant reduction in depression, anxiety, stress, resilience, and self-acceptance according to the PWB-S scale. Also, goal approach was significantly improved. On the other hand, the control group showed a significant reduction on the RS-14 only. The differences in the tested scales between the study group and the control group from pre-intervention (T1) to post-intervention (T2) showed significant differences in depression, stress, self-acceptance, and goal approach measurements per t-test. Conclusion The study’s findings showed that life coaching had the effect of reducing psychological distress, which encouraged the implementation of coaching practice in the daily life of dental students.

BackgroundWhile frontline nurses employ coping alternatives to help deal with occupational stress resulting from unprecedented challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, their access to necessary resources is unclear.ObjectiveThis study aims to explore nurses' mental health in Alabama hospitals during the COVID-19 outbreak and investigate the impact of organizational and community support on nurse stressor levels, physio-psychosocial responses, and coping strategies employed.MethodsA cross-sectional survey was developed to bridge our understanding of stress, support, and coping mechanisms and distributed to nurses working with COVID-19-infected patients in hospital settings in Alabama. A total of 232 frontline nurses responded to 79 items in four domains (stressors, physio-psychosocial symptoms, coping, and support) between May 6, 2020, and June 30, 2020. A two-way ANOVA, regression analysis, and mediation of effects were used to analyze the data.ResultsThis study found that both social support and use of coping strategies contributed to the reduction of physio-psychosocial symptoms. Differences were found in how older frontline nurses perceived the efficacy of social support and certain coping strategies. This study provides further evidence of the importance of organizational support in addressing the harmful physio-psychosocial symptoms experienced by nurses.

Recently sentiment analysis in Arabic has attracted much attention from researchers. A modest number of studies have been conducted on Arabic sentiment analysis. However, due to the vast increase in users’ comments and reviews on social media and e-commerce websites, the necessity to detect sentence-level and aspect-level sentiments has also increased. The aspect-based sentiment analysis has emerged to detect sentiments at the aspect level. Few studies have attempted to perform aspect-based sentiment analysis on Arabic texts because Arabic natural language processing is a challenging task and because of the lack of available Arabic annotated corpora. In this paper, we conducted a systematic review of the methods, techniques, and datasets employed in aspect-based sentiment analysis on Arabic texts. A total of 21 articles published between 2015–2021 were included in this review. After analysing these articles, we found a lack of annotated datasets that can be used by researchers. In addition, the used datasets were limited to few fields. This review will serve as a foundation for researchers interested in Aspect-Based Sentiment Analysis, it will assist them in developing new models and techniques to tackle this task in the future.

Ficusreligiosa Linn, (Moraceae), is a large evergreen or deciduous, irregularly shaped tree. Traditionally the leaves are used for the treatment of constipation, vomiting, hiccup, and others. Leaves were extracted by two methods; maceration and soxhelt using hexane and 80% aqueous methanol, then subjected to preliminary phytochemical examination, fractionation with chloroform, ethyl acetate, and n.butanol, then TLC. Soxhelt was the suitable extraction method. Sterols, alkaloids, saponins, tannins, and flavonoids were identified in leaves. TLC examination demonstrates the possible presence of stigmasterol, chlorogenic acid, caffeic acid, rutin, and luteolin or apigenin.

Globally, frontline health care providers are among the most affected population group by the COVID-19 pandemic. Knowing the factors contributing to the transmission of COVID-19 infection among frontline health care providers is essential for implementing tailored control measures and protecting this vital population group. This study aimed to estimate the proportion and to identify factors associated with COVID-19 infection among medical doctors in Sudan. A web-based survey was used to collect data from medical doctors who were working in Sudan during the study period. Data were analyzed using SPSS® version 25; Descriptive analysis in terms of means (SD) for continuous variables, frequencies, and percentages with 95% CI for the categorical variable was conducted. Chi-square test and binary logistic regression for associations between the outcome variables (risk of exposure to COVID-19 infection and ever tested positive for COVID-19 infection) and independent variables (socio-demographic and infection control standards) were also performed. Out of 352 valid responses, 13.6% had tested positive for COVID-19 infection at least once during the pandemic. More than one-third have identified colleagues as the main sources of infection compared to 21% of patients (p-value < 0.04). Background: Pediatric patients can provide feedback about their healthcare experiences. However, most do not and are instead represented by their parents. A widely accepted notion is that pediatric patients lack the capacity, vocabulary, and preferences needed to answer meaningful questions related to their healthcare. However, because the pediatric patients’ experience can differ from the perspective of their parents, the use of proxy reporting ultimately reduces the hospital’s ability to address the concerns of pediatric patients directly. Objectives: The overall goals of this survey study were (1) to identify the key domains whereby pediatric patient and parent preferences differ and (2) to investigate the extent to which pediatric patients perceive their healthcare experiences differently from their parents. Methods: This study employed an adult version, an older child version, and a younger child version of a 47-question survey instrument divided into seven key domains: experience with the admission process, interactions with nurses, interactions with doctors, care in the hospital, hospital environment, experience before discharge, and overall score. The instrument was developed to survey children (ages 4–17) recently discharged from the hospital and their parents or guardian. Results: The findings suggest pediatric patients reported interest in engaging with their doctors about their healthcare. However, pediatric patients younger than 13 years old reported having fewer pediatric doctors ask them about their healthcare, with the youngest group reporting the worst experiences. Moreover, differences in perceptions were identified between pediatric patients and their parents regarding hospital quality and performance. Pediatric patients reported less pain and higher satisfaction regarding the cleanliness of the room and their experience in the admission process than their parents. Patient and parent responses were significantly different within each of the seven domains. Conclusion: The results speak to the larger discussion of whether current hospital settings can engage with small children at the level necessary to capture meaningful feedback about their healthcare experience. By providing additional evidence to the contrary, this survey study brings further context to misconceptions regarding pediatric patients’ involvement as crucial actors in the patient-and-family-centered care model.

Background: Assessment of knowledge, attitude and practice of oral hygiene in children is important for the health of the community. The lack of data in Makkah region initiated the idea of the study. Aims: To assesses the knowledge, attitude, and practice of oral hygiene among Makkah children aged 9-14years. Design: Cross sectional study was conducted to collect data from children in Makkah, using self-administered close-ended validated questionnaire. It contained demographic data about the child and his mother, and included ten items about oral health practice, oral health attitude, and oral health knowledge that were answered by the child and his guardian separately. SPSS version 20 was used for the analysis of the data and descriptive statistics and chi- square tests were applied. Results: 405 children, both males and females, and their mothers have participated, 79% of them were Saudi mothers and 57% have had higher education. A significant difference was found regarding the correct tooth brushing frequency among male and female children. 67% had more than two episodes of dental pain during last year. No significant difference was found regarding the knowledge except the effect of the fluoride on teeth. More than 45% of the children who got good score their mothers are University graduates. Conclusion: Most of the children and their mothers have adequate oral hygiene knowledge, practice, and attitude. Children of university graduate mothers are more knowledgeable compared to non-graduate mothers; this necessitates the importance of educating them.

Medical profession humanitarian in nature and legal imperative for all doctors and psychiatrists in particular attention to the patient. And it is the responsibility of the psychiatrist creating obligations to special legal provisions keen and stressed the importance of international conventions and national legislation, but the Iraqi legislature did not give the topic the attention it deserves legislative action. Has been studied legal provisions arising from the doctor's commitment to psychological therapy for the provision of civil protection for the patient in five psychological demands of our jurisprudential views about legal obligations such as that of confidentiality psychiatrist and mental health care, glances and follow-up and monitoring. To determine the scope of protection provided by the laws of mental health including mental health law and the Iraqi compared with some Arab and foreign laws.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has led to an increase in the risk of suicide, uncertainty, mental stress, terror, annoyance, weariness, financial issues, and frustration. We aim to determine the prevalence of insomnia, depressive and anxiety symptoms, and their associated factors among Libyan populations during the COVID-19 pandemic and the civil war.Methods: An online cross-sectional survey was conducted among the Libyan population between July 18 and August 23, 2020. The data collected included basic demographic characteristics, level of education, employment status, COVID-19-related questions, and questions about abuse and domestic violence. This study assessed the psychological status of participants who were screened for anxiety symptoms using the seven-item Generalized Anxiety Disorder scale (GAD-7). Depressive symptoms were also screened for using the two-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-2) and the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI). Binomial logistic regression was used to predict the probability of insomnia, anxiety and depressive symptoms.Results: A total of 10,296 responses were recorded. Among the participants, 4,756 (46.2%) obtained a cut-off score of ≥ 3 which indicated depressive symptoms. For anxiety, 1,952 participants (19%) obtained a cut-off score of ≥ 15, which indicated anxiety symptoms. For the ISI, the mean (SD) was 11.4 (6.1) for the following categories: no clinical insomnia (0–7) 3,132 (30.4%), sub-threshold insomnia (1–7) 3,747 (36.4%), moderate severity clinical insomnia (8–14) 2,929 (28.4%), and severe clinical insomnia (15–21) 488 (4.7%). Logistic regression analysis showed that depressive symptoms were statistically associated with age, marital status, education level, occupational category, financial problems during the COVID-19 pandemic, health status, having a COVID-19 infection, current health status, suicide ideation, abuse or domestic violence, and lockdown compliance (p < 0.05). The regression analysis revealed a statistically significant association between anxiety symptoms and age, education level, occupational status, financial problems during the COVID-19 pandemic, having a COVID-19 infection, health status, suicide ideation, abuse or domestic violence, and lockdown compliance (p < 0.05). The regression analysis revealed a statistically significant association between insomnia and all study variables with the exception of age, educational level, and occupational status (p < 0.05).Conclusion: Confronted with the COVID-19 outbreak, the Libyan population exhibited high levels of psychological stress manifested in the form of depressive and anxiety symptoms, while one-third of the Libyan population suffered from clinical insomnia. Policymakers need to promote effective measures to reduce mental health issues and improve people's quality of life during the civil war and the COVID-19 pandemic.

BackgroundThyroid nodules are a common clinical finding and most are benign, however, 5-15% can be malignant. There is limited regional data describing the accuracy of ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (FNA) cytological examination compared to ultrasound examination of thyroid in patients who have undergone thyroid surgery.MethodsA retrospective analysis of ultrasonographic (US) reports, FNA cytology reports and histopathology reports of 161 thyroid nodules presented at the endocrine center at Tawam hospital in Al Ain city, the United Arab Emirates during the period 2011-2019 was performed. US reports and images with FNA cytopathology reports and slides were reviewed by an independent radiologist and pathologist.ResultsIn total, 40 nodules were reported as benign by US examination, while very low suspicious, low suspicious, intermediate suspicious and highly suspicious categories were reported in 21, 41, 14 and 45 nodules respectively. In addition, 68 nodules were reported as benign (Bethesda category II), while atypical follicular cells of unknown significance (Bethesda category III), follicular neoplasm (Bethesda category IV), suspicious for malignancy (Bethesda category V), and malignant (Bethesda category VI) categories were reported in 33, 9, 24 and 27 nodules respectively. The risk of malignancy for US benign nodules was 5%, while the risks of malignancy in very low suspicious, low suspicious, intermediate suspicious and highly suspicious nodules were 52%, 36%, 100% and 87%, respectively. The risk of malignancy for Bethesda category II was 3%, while the risks of malignancy in category III, IV, V and VI were 58%, 67%, 96% and 100%, respectively.ConclusionThyroid FNA cytological examination and ultrasonography are key tools in predicting malignancy in thyroid nodules. Thyroid nodules with the diagnosis of Bethesda category III & IV run a high risk of malignancy thus more vigilance is required.

An extremely simple, expeditious and greener synthetic method for a variety of chalcone derivatives (3) under mild and solvent free reaction conditions has been developed. The present protocol discloses the use of p-toluenesulfonic acid (p-TSA) as a solid phase organocatalyst which accelerates the Claisen–Schmidt condensation reaction dramatically under mild conditions. Various aryl aldehydes (1) were treated with differently substituted aryl ketones (2) in the presence of p-TSA at 50–60 ​°C to yield the desired products in a very short period of reaction time. Mild reaction conditions, clean reaction media, expulsion of hazardous solvents, simple work-up, exclusive formation of products in high yields without side products, and easy purification are advantages of the present methodology.

A series of Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles (ZnONPs)-functionalized Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes (F-MWCNTs) Nano composites were developed as antibacterial. In this study, chemical oxidation of pristine MWCNTs were carried out with a mixture of strong acids (3H2SO4 98%:1 HNO3 65%).The F-MWCNTs were used as templates to prepare hybrid material like ZnONPs decorated F-MWCNTs. Pristine MWCNTs, F-MWCNTs and (ZnONPs/F-MWCNTs) Nano composites powder were investigated using Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Anti-bacterial activity has been carried out using standard agar dilution (plate count) method against Escherichia coli (E. coli). This study demonstrated that (ZnONPs/F-MWCNTs) Nano composite has a powerful bactericidal effect against Escherichia coli (E. coli) at concentration 0.5 mg/ml after 3 hr, which led to speculation that the combination of ZnONPs and F-MWCNTs altered their toxicity and improved antibacterial property of Nano composite.

Background: The vertebrate limb bud develops as an outgrowth of mesoderm, which forms all their elements (muscles, nerves, vessels, bone, cartilage, and tendon). Myogenic precursor cells are seen at E11.5 mouse embryo, when the first nerve fascicles begin to enter the limb. The first signs of musculature masses are seen at E12.5 in both fore and hind limb buds. Apoptosis or programmed cell death is essential in the development of the limbs. In vertebrate, the developing limb morphogenesis depends on the appropriate spatial and temporal balance between cell death and cell proliferation. Objective: To perform comprehensive analysis of the proximo-distal pattern of cell death, evaluated by (TUNEL test) in cross sections of mouse limbs during prenatal development after onset of primary myogenesis. Methods: Fifteen pregnant female mice (Musmusculus) were divided into three groups according to the days of pregnancy into day (14, 16 and 19), only two embryos were taken from each mouse. All the limb buds were involved in this study. Paraffin embedded histological cross-sections of the limb buds were prepared, histological staining (using H&E stain) and TUNEL test labeling were done. Assessment of the number of apoptotic cells in the limb bud mesenchyme was done by counting these cells. Results: The H&E stained sections of the limb buds showed less amounts of mesenchymal tissues in older embryos (day 19). The TUNEL stain showed active apoptotic changes at proximal parts of the limb buds at gestational day 19, while the distal parts of the limbs buds showed active apoptotic changes at the early days (day 14). The evaluation of TUNEL test reaction in the proximal regions showed statistical significant increase of apoptotic cells in day 19 compared to day 14 (p = 0.001 for both). The mean number of apoptotic cells in the proximal regions were statistically significant (p = 0.001) between day 16 and day 19. While the mean number of apoptotic cells of distal regions of the limb buds was higher at day 14 compared to that of day 16 and day 19. These differences between day 14 and day 16 were statistically significant and between day 16 and day 19 while statistically non-significant between day 14 and day 19. Comparison of mean number of apoptotic cells between proximal and distal regions in all the three groups showed a statistically significant higher mean number of apoptotic cells in the distal regions compared to proximal region (p = 0.001). The mean number of the apoptotic cells in both regions (proximal and distal) of the limb buds revealed statistically significant differences between day 16 and day 19 (p = 0.001). Conclusion: Apoptosis was higher in all parts of the developing limbs during day 19, and that could be associated with degenerative changes occurring at the apical ectodermal ridge. Moreover, apoptosis was higher in the distal part of the limb bud and this may be due to more differentiation of the distal parts than in the proximal part of the limb bud. A data compression scheme suggested by Ziv and Lempel, LZ77, is applied to text compression. A slightly modified version suggested by Storer and Szymanski ,LZSS, is found to achieve compression ratios as good as most existing schemes for a wide range of texts. In these two methods and all other dynamic methods, a text file is searched from left to right to find the longest match between the lookahead buffer (the previously encoded text) and the characters to be encoded. The method suggested in this work depends the searching in two directions, from left to right and from right to left, although this process takes more time, better compression results were obtained
