Hereditary breast cancer is an inherited genetic condition, mainly caused by BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene mutations. These genetic changes can increase the risks of breast and ovarian cancers in women, while prostate and breast cancers in men. Especially, mutations in either BRCA1 or BRCA2 genes take important roles in early-onset breast cancer. The present study focused on a 47-year-old Vietnamese woman with breast cancer by applying targeted next-generation sequencing technique. A novel BRCA1 gene mutation, namely NM_007294.3 (BRCA1): c.4998insA (p. Tyr1666Terfs), was identified both in this patient and in some of the members in her family proved the fact that the mutated genes passed down through generations. This change may exponentially initiate breast cancer risks and become a valuable marker for exact clinical prognosis and treatment.

Aim: This study exploited hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)-specific circulating DNA methylation profiles to improve the accuracy of a current screening assay for HCC patients in high-risk populations. Methods: Differentially methylated regions in cell-free DNA between 58 nonmetastatic HCC and 121 high-risk patients with liver cirrhosis or chronic hepatitis were identified and used to train machine learning classifiers. Results: The model could distinguish HCC from high-risk non-HCC patients in a validation cohort, with an area under the curve of 0.84. Combining these markers with the three serum biomarkers (AFP, lectin-reactive AFP, des-γ-carboxy prothrombin) in a commercial test, μTASWako®, achieved an area under the curve of 0.87 and sensitivity of 68.8% at 95.8% specificity. Conclusion: HCC-specific circulating DNA methylation markers may be added to the available assay to improve the early detection of HCC. The early detection of liver cancer in high-risk populations can help people with the disease have a higher chance of survival and better quality of life. However, this is still a healthcare challenge. Current commercial blood tests measuring protein signatures in the blood have low accuracy due to increased levels of these proteins being detected in both liver cancer patients and patients with chronic liver diseases. In this study, we identified a set of signatures in DNA released by cancer cells into the bloodstream and used them as biomarkers to distinguish liver cancer patients from high-risk patients. We also demonstrated that adding those signatures to a commercial blood test currently used in clinics could improve the accuracy in detecting liver cancer patients. Cancer-specific methylation markers combined with the three serum biomarkers (AFP, AFP-L3 and DCP) in a commercial diagnostic test, μTASWako, improve accuracy of liver cancer screening in high-risk populations. Việc đa dạng hóa các loại nguyên liệu sử dụng và cách xử lý nguyên liệu phù hợp làm giá thể trồng hoa cần được nghiên cứu để giảm giá thành của giá thể. Mục tiêu của nghiên cứu là xác định một số đặc tính lý hóa học, dinh dưỡng của các nguyên liệu như mụn dừa, bã đã trồng nấm bào ngư, bã đã trồng nấm rơm, bùn mía, phân bò và xác định hiệu quả của biện pháp xử lý mụn dừa trên sinh trưởng cúc Đồng tiền. Kết quả nghiên cứu cho thấy, bùn mía là nguyên liệu có pH phù hợp, hàm lượng đạm, lân và Ca cao, khả năng giữ nước thấp là nguyên liệu tốt để làm giá thể trồng hoa nhưng cần ủ hoai. Các nguồn nguyên liệu khác có những ưu và nhược điểm riêng về các đặc tính lý hóa học và dinh dưỡng, do đó cần khắc phục các nhược điểm của các nguyên liệu khi sử dụng để làm giá thể trồng hoa. Việc xử lý mụn dừa trước khi trồng bằng chế phẩm Trichoderma, mụn dừa xử lý bằng thuốc gốc đồng và mụn dừa ủ hoai cho kết quả tốt nhất. Biện pháp xử lý mụn dừa bằng vôi mặc dù hạn chế mầm bệnh Fursarium, nhưng pH tăng cao có thể ảnh hưởng đến sinh trưởng cúc Đồng tiền.
