Transformation of the welfare sectors challenge professional identities of care and welfare workers in Scandinavia. At the same time welfare and care workers take part in these changes and are changed in the psycho-social setting of the workplace. This article presents research about care work in Denmark with a focus on subjective processing of work identity, applying a psycho-societal theoretical and methodical approach. A life historical and experiential understanding of Alfred LORENZER's cultural theory is applied to understand societal transformations, here in the work place and of professionals in relation to their present scene of work and in relation to their life history. Two concepts are applied, interaction form and scenic understanding, because of their potentials for analyzing workers' experience. The analysis is based on a combined ethnographic and life historical investigation in nursing and involves a young nurse in scenes of the hospital, where gendered life history is re-enacted and present in a gendered work life with fragile possibilities of identification . Social dynamics interact with subjective dynamics in ways that illuminate not only habitual and creative orientations and practices of professionals in care, but also the contradictory transformations of the work, e.g. marketization and democratization in the work place. Veränderungen im Gesundheitswesen und der sozialen Wohlfahrt fordern die Berufsidentitäten von Krankenschwestern und Sozialarbeiter/innen in Skandinavien heraus. Diejenigen, die von solchen Veränderungen betroffen sind, werden durch das neue psychosoziale Setting an ihren Arbeitsplätzen auch persönlich tangiert.In diesem Aufsatz wird ein Forschungsprojekt mit dänischen Krankenschwestern und Sozialarbeiter/innen vorgestellt. Der Fokus liegt auf der sich verändernden Arbeitsidentität, und dieser subjektive Entwicklungsprozess macht einen besonderen theoretischen und methodologischen Forschungsansatz notwendig: Das Verstehen von lebensgeschichtlicher und beruflich bedingter Erfahrung wird in der Perspektive von Alfred LORENZER's Kulturtheorie untersucht. Es geht darum, den gesellschaftlichen Wandel zu verstehen, der den Arbeitsplatz, die Berufsausübung und die jeweilige Lebensgeschichte in besonderer Weise betrifft. Zwei Konzepte von LORENZER, ein theoretisches und ein methodisches, nämlich die "Interaktionsform" und das "szenische Verstehen", wurden in der Untersuchung angewendet, weil man mit ihnen eine optimale methodische Perspektive zur Analyse der Arbeitserfahrung entwickeln kann. Eine ethnografische und lebensgeschichtlich orientierte Untersuchung von jungen Krankenschwestern in Krankenhäusern wird vorgestellt, in welchen die Arbeit geschlechtsspezifisch organisiert ist und nur geringe Möglichkeiten zu einer Identifikation mit der Arbeit bestehen. Es werden soziale und persönliche Dynamiken untersucht, in denen habituelle und kreative Orientierungen und Praktiken in der Gesundheitsversorgung sichtbar gemacht werden. Los trabajadores del cuidado y del bienestar toman parte en estos cambios y son cambiados, al mismo tiempo, en el ambiente psico- social del lugar de trabajo. Este artículo presenta investigación acerca del trabajo de cuidado en Dinamarca con un enfoque en el proceso subjetivo de la identidad del trabajo, aplicando una aproximación psico- social teórica y metodológica. Se aplica una comprensión de las experiencias y de vida histórica de la teoría de la cultura de Alfred LORENZER para entender las transformaciones sociales, aquí en el lugar de trabajo y de los profesionales en relación con su presente escena de trabajo y en relación con su historia de vida. Se aplican dos conceptos, forma de interacción y entendimiento escénico, por su potencialidad para analizar las experiencias de los trabajadores. El análisis se basa en una investigación combinada etnográfica y de vida histórica en enfermería e involucra una enfermera en las escenas de hospital, donde es recreada la vida de género y se hace presente en una vida de trabajo de género con posibilidades frágiles de identificación. The purpose of this master thesis is to examine how care pathways interacts with recov-ery, and a recovery oriented practice in the psychiatric hospital in the Capital Region. Care pathways are built on diagnoses with a connected treatment plan. Patients gain ac-cess trough their diagnosis and are for the main part treated in groups in linear prede-fined timeframes. The care pathways are standardized ways of treating patients based on traditional medical views. This differs from recovery that believes people to be unique, and that each persons recovery process is highly individual. Focus in a recovery-oriented praxis is on people’s resources, and points of view instead of on symptoms, pa-thology and diagnosis. Recovery processes are nonlinear, and cannot be standardized. The interest therefore was to examine how these two different ways of approaching people with mental illness interact, and if they are able to coexist, or are in opposition. The staff’s possibilities to support recovery were also studied. This was examined through qualitative methods. Interviews were performed with both leaders, and treat-ment staff from the Capital Region Psychiatric Hospital. Furthermore documents from the organisation was used. The theory chosen to enlighten the recovery field is mainly related to recovery-oriented practice, and of newer date. Mainly articles from English researchers were chosen due to relevance, and actuality in the research field. An analyt-ical movement from the empirical domain to the deep domain was performed and the conclusion of this master thesis is, that it’s difficult to have both of these to coexist at an equal footing. Care pathways and recovery base values do not support each other, and there are a lot of competing priorities. Mainly the financial aspects of the care pathways are allowed to dominate, and the recovery-oriented aspects only exist in the degree that it can be incorporated under already existing structures. The staff’s possibilities to sup-port recovery are limited, and confined to what they can do in therapy. Therefore the care pathways, and the organisation shape the recovery-oriented practice, instead of it being the recovery-oriented practice that shapes the care pathways.

In this thesis we want to study how the future workshop, as a transformational tool, can be used to study how vocational students understand good vocational colleges. We want to use action research, as a health strategy, providing insight into how vocational colleges as a setting can change. The theoretical framework for the study consists of Axel Honneth's recognition theory which we elaborate with the concepts of solidarity and judgment by Søren Juul. Furthermore we will use theory about health concepts, setting and empowerment perspectives. The main conclusions of the thesis is that action research, in this case the future workshop with its democratic approach, can be used as an alternative health strategy for the transformation of the vocational college as a healthy setting. The student need for recognition and the importance of social relationships amongst the group appears as two indisputable components of the good vocational college and hence important for retention.
